Unfortunately, although the site said there was a pool and free breakfast, there was no pool and no breakfast at all. There is a rooftop restaurant not associated with the hotel that was not open for breakfast. I had to go outside and walk to find breakfast. There were really no amenities at all besides coffee in the morning. I was disappointed. The water pressure was poor in the shower. The maid, Norma, was delightful! Otherwise, I didn’t find staff terribly helpful.

- susanmW2845GG (6/5): The good, bad and ugly - I was impressed by the beautiful junior suite! But, the shower ran cold water and the water pressure was too low. Unfortunately, the information online is misleading. There is no pool at all, and no free breakfast. The desk staff said there has been no pool for 9 years! The restaurant on the rooftop is lovely and the food was excellent, but there is no breakfast since the restaurant was not open in the morning.

- Chris (8/5): - This affordable, charming hotel is close to the central area of town but away from the crowds and has a great view of the city. The room was large and family-sized with two bedrooms and two baths and nicely decorated with some special luxury touches like plush bedding and robes. The balcony, with the view of the city and the churches, was extra-special. Although the hotel is listed as a "four-star" property, the level of amenities and services is nowhere near the fancy hotels in town (which was fine for us.) It was close to many shops and restaurants and also has one on site. The staff didn't speak much English, so couldn't be of too much assistance to us in navigating the city. Our one complaint is that the room needed a mini-fridge. A solid 3-star hotel in a great location in an amazing city.

Incluso el último día que estubimos ahí, solicitamos un Uber para que nos llevara a la terminal de autobuses, el cual no pudo pasar porque habían cerrado las calles debido a los eventos realizados por el Domingo de Ramos. Ya habíamos registrado nuestra salida del hotel y nos encontrábamos en la puerta principal, pero en la calle. Uno de los empleados de la recepción se dió cuenta de nuestra espera, salió para preguntarnos si nuestro transporte aún no llegaba, habló con las personas de tránsito para que le dieran permiso de sacar un vehículo del hotel y llevarnos a nuestro destino. Francamente nos sorprendió gratamente su disposición y diligencia. No sabemos qué hubiéramos hecho sin su apoyo; pues ya habíamos comprado los boletos con anticipación. Nosotros además de estar muy agradecidos con él, reconocemos la alta calidad del servicio al cliente que tiene el personal del hotel :)

There were several levels of stairs from the lobby to the main floors were the rooms started, so it may not be a good fit if one is not used to inclines. The courtyard at the top of the stairs could use a bit of attention-dusty seating and dying pIants. The room I stayed in a room that was spacous and comfortable. It included a large sitting area, shower and separate deep bathtub. Unfortunately, the windows face the street. I was awakened several times in the early morning hours by loud motorcycle engines. On my last night, there appeared to be some work or deliveries being made between 5-6:30 am, periodically creating loud banging and slamming noises.

So a comfortable 2 bed, 2 bath place was exactly what we needed. The hotel is in a great location. Free coffee and tea available, and wifi was reliable. Clean and spacious.

We had a 2-bedroom place that was very nice with a HUGE patio/balcony overlooking SMA (San Miguel de Allende). It’s the perfect distance from the main center of town to walk to. All of SMA is clean, safe, and walkable, so we got lost without a worry and would stop and eat somewhere. This hotel does have a restaurant at on the rooftop with the best views, good food, and great drinks, if you’re looking for an easy place to eat.

El café que ofrecen temprano por la mañana tiene muy buen sabor. Lo único malo es que no incluyen desayuno, pero hay lugares cercanos para desayunar, comer y cenar a muy buenos precios. No fue necesario utilizar el coche. No funcionaba el elevador pero no están pesadas las escaleras a pesar de que estábamos en el último piso. Sin duda, regresamos otra vez.

- Myrna (10/5): - Hotel el Palomar tiene muy buena ubicación en el centro caminando a unos 5 min aprox al jardín principal y la parroquia, es tranquilo, es un lugar seguro, muy limpio, el personal muy agradable, hay restaurantes, banco/ATM , oxxo muy cercas. En el baño tienen todo lo necesario shower gel, Shampoo , conditioner. Lotion, and hand soap de muy buena calidad, asi q no es necesario llevar. Tienen cafesito gratis por las mañanas, un restaurante en la terraza con una preciosa vista, tiene A/C , y un elevador pequeño . Lo único pesado es q hay q caminar de subida cuando vienes de vuelta al hotel. De ahí en fuera todo estuvo genial. Ampliamente lo recomiendo y claro que me volvería a hospedar ahí ;)

- bens20132013 (10/5): Excellent Hotel , Great staff and beautiful view - Hotel is great. It sits on top of a hill with excellent views. Staff is wonderful. We stayed here for 5 nights for our son's wedding. Our family had rooms #1, 3,4,7, and 8. All the rooms are so pretty. Room 3 does have some road noise due to road behind but traffic dies down and the room is a very good size with a huge bathroom. Room #1 has a large private balcony the bedrooms are a little tight if you have a lot of luggage. The view is incredible. Room 4 was very nice with a small 1/2 circle balcony and great view. Room 1 , 3 &4 are on the 1st floor which is up a flight of stairs and where the elevator starts. Room 7 & 8 have excellent views and are accessible from both the stairs and elevator. We enjoyed the free breakfast provided at El Correo , coffee and food were very good and staff was very nice. You could have coffee, juice and all but the 2 steak meals for free. There is a coffee area made with filtered water and a sitting area outside room 1,2,3 &4 where the elevator starts. Hotel provided bottled water to the room everyday. We ate dinner and had drinks upstairs at Antonio bistro which was very good and had a wonderful view. We had the hotel arrange shuttle for one group. One person overpaid their bill and hotel contacted us to arrange refund. Highly recommend this hotel. Due to steep hill we did sometimes take taxi back to hotel due to bad knee. (cost less than$5 with tip)
- ericksonpa (10/5): Pleasant Hotel, nicely appointed with fabulous view - This really is a very nice hotel with very nice and spacious rooms. Ours (#10) was a two room suite with two bathrooms, sitting area with a lovely view and a separate bedroom. Plenty of room and the view was a 12 out of 10. The sitting room doors open up to a view of the entire city and of course the church! Bed, linens, shower, towels and other amenities were all top-notch and incredibly comfortable. Made service daily and fresh waters every day. The location is just about 3-4 blocks off the main square and slightly up hill the last two blocks. Once in the courtyard there are another 20-25 steps or so to get to the first floor rooms and elevator. These steps are not optional, you must climb them to access the first floor, so beware if this is an issue for you. There is coffee & tea service on the main floor in the morning. I am an espresso drinker, so unfortunately this didn't offer too much value for us. But, plenty of coffee shops within 3-4 blocks and even a Starbucks on the main square if that is your jam. There is a restaurant on the top floor of the hotel and it is lovely with pretty good food. We were slightly disappointed in our first meal there, but for the most part it is good and they have a decent selection of beers, tequila and mezcal if you are into that. Beware that if you stay on the third floor (units 8,9 & 10) the moving of chairs in the restaurant rings loudly within your room. So, if you are a light sleeper and are planning to go to bed before the restaurant shuts down, do not get a room on the 3rd floor. There is some parking but very limited to just about 5 cars or so. So, call ahead and make sure they will have room for your car if you have one. Parking in SMA looked to be a miserable experience, so not sure what options you would have if the hotel lot is full.

- mglule (10/5): Will be back. - Excellent location super clean and best part they have valet parking witch a lot of hotels downtown do not offer. The free breakfast at El Correo was also a plus. Everything was very clean, and staff was very friendly.
- Yee-Huan (8/5): - Room #9 has a million dollar view of the town (best one in San Miguel imo!). The hotel is also walking distance to the main square where the church and the garden are located. Great stay for a first time visitor. A few things the hotel should improve on: 1) It's located on a noisy street and you can hear it from the room even with windows/doors shut. Consider investing in soundproofing the room. Fortunately, the streets do get quiet after 10pm. 2) The restaurant was playing music even at 1am. Quite annoying. 3) The water pressure of the shower is not ideal. But I've also read the same complaints about other hotels in town. All in all, I had a great stay with just a few minor annoyances. - Sarianna (8/5): - This property is located in a good location and close to the park center. The staff were great as they allowed me to check in early, and printed out my boarding pass for me. They were always polite and friendly, as were the staff on the roof top restaurant. The rooms are supposed to be soundproof, and that is misleading. They are thick, however, you can hear noise out in the hall area and I could hear traffic through my windows. I brought ear plugs, so that took care of all that. I had a fireplace in my room, but wasn't sure how to use it. Perhaps it's not to be used. I didn't need it. My bathroom had a huge tub with jets, and an enclosed shower area. I liked that they had coffee and tea in a lounge area. I wanted coffee early in the morning, and none was made. As I was walking to my room, I met a worker who said he would have some ready in 10 minutes, which he did. That was nice. There is free breakfast at a nearby cafe, and although limited it was good. For those driving, there is a private parking area on the property. I met several people staying in hotels near the park square, and they said the noise at night was terrible. Lots of music, loud talking, etc. So I'm glad I picked the place I did. There was usually no noise after 10pm except for the traffic.

- MarcoCoto74 (10/5): What a view!!..great hotel - I had the opportunity to travel around the world, but the view from the family suite was out of this world. The location is good but you will need to walk to get to the city center. The staff was very friendly, they helped my wife to coordinate a bday gift for me which was a great surprise. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room huge. Highly recommend this hotel for your next stay in SMA, I will come back for sure.
- sherene (10/5): - The property is beautiful and service is good. However, taking a consistently hot shower is a challenge. The shower jumps from freezing to hot to freezing while using. There is also quite a bit of noise with the elevator and people going up to the rooftop bar and restaurant. Although, I can’t believe them anyone for going up as the views are amazing.

- howardxp1 (8/5): Great for the view, though a bit pricy for the value. - We got upgraded to a high floor - room 8. It affords a fantastic view of the city and is very spacious as it has a separate living room. The description says it has a heated swimming pool but it does NOT. Nor is there a gym. It’s centrally located just about 5-7 minutes from the center of town. The bus #8 or 9 run just outside the hotel and go further up to the Lookout if you want to save yourself the hike up. Local buses only cost 8 pesos. The drivers give change. There’s no refrigerator nor microwave oven anywhere so be prepared. Breakfast is served by going to one of their affiliated restaurants nearby. There are two. Better to go to the one just 1 block North of the hotel on Mesón street. It’s less crowded, gives much bigger portions and much faster service. Remember that room 8 offers the very best views. Howard S.

- Verified traveler (6/5): - We rented a family suite for three nights. The location of the hotel is excellent, within 5 minutes walking distance to the town center. The showers in both rooms are not working properly, alternating with either hot or cold water but never with proper temperature. Breakfast is included and served at local restaurants nearby. The hotel concierges were kind but failed to inform us the location change on certain day of the week. Overall, there's room for improvement for El Palomar Hotel.

- sixthgentexan (8/5): Peaceful oasis, except... - I spent four nights on holiday at the Hotel El Palomar. Upon arrival, I was upgraded to a spacious, top-floor suite with unbelievable views of the city, a comfortable bed, and a sky-lit shower. Incredible, and incredible value for what I paid. Great shower pressure, super clean, temperature control, and, again, the view cannot be beat. My only complaint is that the noise from the restaurant upstairs is really terrible from about 1pm until late at night. The restaurant sat right above my sitting room, and they seem to constantly be moving chairs and tables, creating those sounds and making it really difficult to enjoy a peaceful siesta or evening watching the sunset. This isn't the hotel's fault (the restaurant is a complete, separate business), but there could be better coordination. It often sounded like someone at the restaurant was moving tables and chairs when no customers were there for completely superfluous reasons.
