Guest Reviews

- Jansen Philip (5/5): WE DID NOT GET WHAT WE PAID FOR. INCONVINIENT. - The room 1. Their boat, which was 50% the reason why we chose them among the other more modern and attractive resorts, was nonfunctional. This is supposed to be a forseeable problem considering its a long standing stable resort. They dont have an extra boat. Going here, they provided an alternative boat but on the way back they insist we take the public barge in their commercial truck. The private boat transfer is part of the expensive accompdation yet no discount given. No compensation. Just scripted sorry.
2. Their shoreline is rocky. My family members’ soles were red. There could have been an info on this so we could have bought beach shoes.
3. The food was overpriced with its underwhelming taste/quality, quantity and presentation. The food deserves half the price its given. I expected more considering they have allegedly “the same chef with Discovery”.
4. Not value for money. We booked the 2-bedroom sea view cabana. One of the lights were broken so we didnt get to eat in the comfort of our unit.
- Ulrik Jose (7/5): Good to relax - Quiet No phones in rooms to avail services, you need to go up and go to the lobby
- Work (10/5): - Chemas ticked all the boxes !! They took such good care of me during my solo travel stay. Everything is exactly as advertised plus more !
The beach is fantastic, extra water sports fun, the pool facilities and the amazing rooms.
The staff are just next level amazing !
You will see me again!
- Myrtle (4/5): We booked for 2 nights but we just used for overnight only . cannot refund as we already paid going back to Davao - Beach is okay In our cabana we stayed no internet connection, lots of bugs chicken and birds flew in the porch and eat our food . Breakfast not satisfied as it is platter for 10k plus per night . Short of staff at night and early morning. Recommended for day tour only not overnight . Too expensive .

- Stephanie (9/5): It was an overnight stay and i was really relaxed. I am 5mos pregnant and i get to really enjoy the facilities (pools an - I love how exclusive it is and really appreciated that there’s a limit for guests so that overcrowding is avoided. I also love the two pools (fresh water and salted water). I don’t really have much negative to say. But the location of the resort in google maps is a bit confusing and needs to be updated esp if you are already in Samal. We were a bit lost finding it and the number provided by the resort dropped our call like 4 times before finally answering.

- Mercy (10/5): A nice secluded resort if you want serenity the place is for you. - Its secluded, you can have the pool and the beach by yourself sometimes. Good customer service and foods were delicious.Just catch a ferry from the Insular waterfront hotel going to Chemas. Its not for person with mobility issues, it has stairs and cliffs. Going to beach and pool has steps and going to the rooms you have to go uphill.
- Jade (10/5): -
- Gabi (9/5): - Location and cleanliness
- Jasmin (7/5): Not a good value for money. - Flexible in rescheduling days. Too many leaves on the beach, on the pool and everywhere. Not Instagram worthy but managed to take some good photos
- Nick (8/5): Lush gardens bring peace and quiet. - Peace and quiet. Coffee and breakfast is filter and you can’t order a nice one like a flat white.

- Brendan (9/5): Well worth the money. - It's exactly as advertised, quite charming. There was no fault of the staff or facilities. We just picked a rainy day.
- carlos (9/5): I will stay again - Clean and comfortable The pool area needs upkeep
- Marian (10/5): -
- Ivan Bechev (10/5): - Top, top and TOP!
- Alexey (8/5): Nice and green - Nice calm location, very green territory, friendly stuff. Property needs a renovation .

- Henry (10/5): Einfach traumhafter Urlaub - Das Hotel waren einzelne kleine Häuser.
- Peter (10/5): - Der Strand
- KATHLEEN (7/5): They should improve their service and food - Closer to the city and accessible Poor service
- Liza (10/5): It has so much to offer. From crystal sea to the lush greenery and fresh air. - I love how cozy the place feels the perfect escape from the noise of the city. It’s a great spot to unwind, de-stress, and reflect. Best of all, it’s the perfect place to spend quality time with your parents. I also appreciate that they have 24/7 staff in the lobby. I stayed overnight for work, and since I work at night, it gave me peace of mind knowing I could always ask for assistance even though the place was completely quiet. Plus, unlimited service water was a huge bonus since I needed to stay hydrated the whole night. The place is still undergoing construction and beautification, so I understand that there are areas still being improved.
- Nejc R (10/5): - Great and peaceful location, the staff is very kind,
Preis/Leistung naja.
- Nathan (9/5): Beautiful cottage by the ocean on Samal Island with access to the beach, restaurant, and two pools - The resort was scenic snd the room was very comfortable. The resort’s free ferry back to Davao was also great and convenient. Some parts of the resort seemed to be under renovation. Mostly aesthetics and ongoing maintenance.
- Rolf (8/5): -
- Jessica Kamil (10/5): -
- William (9/5): - Food is excellent. Staff is very attentive. Wi-Fi needs major improvement
- Petrie (7/5): Well worth staying there, will definitely come back. - L8cation was perfect, food limited but breakfast del8vered to room daily was a nice touch. Just ring the bell on your deck. Food in general was very good and good portions size. Menu a little restricted especially as you are quite tied to the location
- Emil (9/5): -
- Rowena (6/5): -
- Agnes (9/5): -
- Guest (7/5): - The food was very expensive. But kudos to the chief who gave us complimentary pastries
- Sophie (7/5): Okey -
- Phillip (7/5): Good value, great location and beach, staff excellent. - Right on the beach, beautiful green gardens, excellent staff, food not bad Both pools not working on one day, beach bar closed one afternoon, no smoking area inside
- gilles (8/5): -
- Paulito (9/5): - location should a little bit upgrade if the room
- GALLEGO (10/5): - We love overall experienced. N/A
- Tore Magne (8/5): Veldig bra opphold - Plassering og stranden Maten.
- Opsimar (10/5): - The staff was very helpful and friendly. The food is very good and the ambience is fantastic.
- Rosanne (7/5): -
- Joseph (9/5): Quiet, restful stay... - I love the idyllic vibe. Quiet and relaxing. Pet-friendly, and the staff were accommodating. It rained really hard during our stay. There was some leakage inside and outside the room we stayed in. Not for older people with knee issues or who can't walk up a flight of stairs.
- Alex (10/5): -
- Joan (5/5): -
- junrell (6/5): -
- Ewa (6/5): Okay stay - The cottage was very cozy. Very nice atmosphere with trees. It was difficult to find some place to relax in the sun (both by the pool and by the beach) since everything was in the shadow. The beach could have been cleaner- there was a lot of trash.
Breakfast wasn’t that good.
Too expensive for the quality.
- Arnel (6/5): -
- Virginia (5/5): - The nature surrounding the resort. Food was overpriced.
1 scoop of ice cream is 190
Not at all senior friendly
Supplies like bathroom tissue etc is not commensurate to the number of people you aid for
The bed edges were too sharp.
The buffet breakfast was served in installment you have to ask for a refill before they will act on it.limited viand only egg, fried fish, menudo and adobo chicken.not enough plate for all guests you have to wait for newly washed plate.
Place was beautiful but beach has sharp stones/corals. you cant swim without hurting your sole.aqua shoes is a must.stairs are steep.not senior friendly.
- Bernard (6/5): A nice relax getaway - Seaview and nature Not dog friendly and hard to find rubbish bin
- Dr.charlie (8/5): Relaxing & peaceful and the crews are all well accommodating but the places needs to be rehabilitated and the foods - Relaxing but so small , simple but pricy for that place. The foods are simple but too pricy
- Hermenio (6/5): Pleasant - Food and lansdcape. lot of mosquitos
- Edelweis (9/5): It was great. - Location and the peaceful vibe There were limited options for food and drinks.
- Sha_r_izan (8/5): Very good -
- Anniecon (10/5): Truly Enjoyable! - We booked the sea view cottage for 8 people and that alone was already worth the price. We couldn't stop swimming in the beach. It's well maintained accompanied by the perfect weather that day. All areas are quiet and peaceful which made it the best place to be reconnect with my friends. All the staffs are kind and accommodating. They were always giving us options and assist us with our preferences. Their boodle meal package is a must try! The wifi was really slow so if you plan to be online often, it can be quite challenging.
- Karen (5/5): Passable -
- Misael (7/5): It was ok. - Food was ok. The boat that was supposed bring us back to Waterfront Hotel was under preventive maintenance that is why we transported back by land and ferry boat which was a little uncomfortable. The resort should have hired another boat to sevice the guests in the absence of the regular boat.
- Tarun (4/5): Disappointing - The location with beach and sea view and private boat transfer is amazing The food is very overpriced. The breakfast facility was worst. Me being vegetarian, they told that they have vegetarian food in breakfast but it has to be paid extra. Only bread toast is free in the breakfast. For other members, it was told that you can choose coffee or juice. When they asked for fruit juice, it was told that juice is finished. Although it was there in the fridge. Later, it was informed that it has to be paid extra.
Further, I was over charged 1800 pesos extra for the child and no extra bed or anything provided. Still sharing the bed with us. Actually, there is no space in the room for an extra bed.
The fridge is old and rotten.
The bed is very noisy and shaking and no maintenance done.
If you want to go for a walk out of the hotel, you need a gate pass.
The swimming pool with sea water looks not cleaned regularly.
The beach view is very good but the beach chairs and beach furniture is never cleaned. The private beach has many sharp stones.
Not worth the money charged.
Better to pay little extra and go for the next door discovery hotel.
- Cheramae (10/5): Excellent place to unwind and take a break with family or friends - Chema’s is a great place to stay most especially if you want to feel relaxed and wanted to take a break from hustle and buzzle of everyday life. It was worth the experience. I really enjoyed everything!
- Cheryl (8/5): Very good -
- Dennis (9/5): Best relaxing resort I have stayed in - Breakfast was great , lovely atmosphere surrounded by ocean, trees , Breakfast was cold when we are , be more enjoyable if warm . Can’t fault the the food though.
- Matthew (9/5): Superb -
- Jayhan (10/5): Exceptional - Staff are nice. Just need to check the shower but it was sorted after.
- Meg (6/5): Not good value for money - Location was perfect with 5-10min boat transfer from Waterfront Hotel. Food was okay. Beach was not well maintained and cleaned as it should be. A lot of fallen leaves on the grainy shore and pool area, beach was just naturally beautiful. Worst is that there were some dead ‘raga-raga’ (flying termites) in one of our rooms booked, which is not good especially that we have babies and toddlers with us, and that left me cleaning the whole bedsheet over again. Seems that it rooms wasnt thoroughly cleaned before we’ve used it. Overall is fine, just not good value for money.
- Paul (7/5): Good - View from villa 1 was excellent Food and drinks too expensive, and airport transfers very expensive, and free boat transfers don't match flight times
- Thorsten (10/5): Exceptional -
- Allan (8/5): Very good -
- Emmylou (8/5): It was actually a pleasant and nice vacation over all. - The quietness and cleanliness of the place. The room is very spacious. The BR could use a little more room to put personal stuff.
Staff were really nice and accommodating. There were no snacks available in the room. We did not pay for WiFi so we just went to the main hall when we need it. Wish the WiFi could be reliable throughout the place but that is probably beyond control. Food was very good but some things on the menu are not available ie fruits and desserts- halo halo. Maybe a pool table or Table tennis and some activities can be provided for guests as well.
- Brad (10/5): Overall my stay was good just a few little things that need to be adjusted but other then that I’d be happy to come back - It was a great property very nice and quite place to come and relax The meals was a little to big at dinner time and I asked that I didn’t get the mushrooms at breakfast time but they still got put in my plate
- Carmila (8/5): Very good - cleanliness and friendly staff Internet bandwidth is poor
- Rene (8/5): relaxing - This place is really beautiful and great for relaxing. The cottages are great. It is very green and just very nice. The food was good, a bit more pricey but nice. The transfer from Davao was well organized and they helped carrying the luggage. They played some relaxing music in the background in the weekend, but nothing during the week as there were few guests but I think even then you can do it. -employee attentiveness: it's on par with the overall low attentiveness in the Philippines. We had to ring the bell to ask for service, which we did 3 times in 20 minutes. Nobody reacts. They let you wait without knowing if they even heard you. This also happened to our neighbour the next day so it was not an isolated case.
I told I had a transfer to catch so I'd order if the cook can make the food quick which the waiter confirmed. I waited 40 minutes and had to remind the waiter whether my food was still coming which then was suddenly immediately ready. Each day I had to ask to include napkins and a knife when getting food, I mean, after the third time they could have remembered it.
But as I said, it is not different to most places in the Philippines, the Philippine service level is just very low and slow. Yet, everyone is very kind.
-far from all: but then again, there is not that much to do on the island. We rented a scooter for 800, which usually is 500 but still nice they offered help and called the scooter guy.
-constructions were being done daily creating some noise. They informed us 30 minutes before arriving, so not much choice to still change the accommodation. They could have written it in the description. It was only during the day though.
I would probably stay again though.
- Nathan (9/5): Superb - We brought out dog it was supper fun!!! Nice place food was great
- Ronald (9/5): Superb - The location easy and not far My companion
- Kevin (10/5): Exceptional - We enjoyed the sea view porch/ balcony from our bungalow, the food, and the overall atmosphere.
- Rodney (10/5): Great place quiet staff on the ball - Peaceful All good
- Scott (3/5): Poor -
- M (9/5): Superb -
- Johnna (8/5): Nice accommodation, clean, hospitable staff - Nice None so far
- Jelly (7/5): Our stay was great, we enjoyed the place so much. The room is well ventilated and clean, the staff are courteous and he - The staff are great, the beach is also very clean The food is just a tad overpriced
- Joey (8/5): All in all good experience - Location , vibe , the staff are all super for what I experienced Some stuff not on stock when I would like to order it . Maby cuz early season but still a good experience.
Little bit more protection against mosquito on the houses would be great or maby a klamboo as extra option
- Dr (8/5): Very good - nice place food is way toooo expensive
- Karen (8/5): Very good -
- Darren (6/5): Pleasant -
- Van (9/5): Superb -
- Andrew (8/5): Very good -
- Rehan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anthony (7/5): Good - The resort is very nice but they got way to many mosquitos... the food is OK not top tier food but ok.. Mosquitos , roster waking me up early, food chooses very little they need to change menu to different foods, they charge for everything .. no free water...
- Gil (8/5): Very good -
- Glenn (9/5): Would go back! - The staff!! Also, the resort is a great place to stay with family.
