Guest Reviews
- Tina (10/5): Great - Simple accommodations, but clean room, had everything we needed for a nice two night stay, friendly staff, and walking distance to the beach - about a 15 minute walk.
- David (6/5): - Very basic room. Clean.
- paul (6/5): - Only reason to stay in this hotel is for the airport.
It’s in a huge construction site.
- rodney (8/5): - Construction next to hotel
- Omar M (10/5): - Great owner/hostess
- Shawn (10/5): Great stay and close to beach and airport - The owner of this property is a very sweet and caring lady that speaks great English. I love supporting these mom and pop establishments instead of some big corporation. Three block walk to an amazing beach with all kind of dining options.
- Jody (8/5): - Property is basic and decor tired but its clean so all good. Shame next door is currently a building site or the location would be nice & quiet. The pool gets a couple if hours of sun if that but the beach is stunning, its about 10 min walk away & if you dont want to walk a local taxi is 50baht. The staff are really friendly and helpful and can supply a taxi to the airport for 200baht. Personally i think the hotel is ok for a night or two but i'd be disappointed if i booked it for a holiday.
- Bashar (10/5): - Family run bussiness and they really care about the comfort and hospitality of the guests.
- Bodie (2/5): - I wouldn’t recommend this place. Construction woke us up at 5am, beds are hard as a rock, pillows are super tall and firm.
- Claire (8/5): - Lovely location for Nai Yang, but the pool doesnt get the sun all day, and you can only get a simple breakfast here. Staff are lovely, and rooms are clean and comfortable.
- Abha (10/5): Clean but minimalistic hotel close to the airport. - Clean, minimalistic lodging very close to the Phuket airport. Rooms are spacious and clean. One downside is that there is a (single) metal key. Fortunately, we were only there for do a single night, so it wasn’t an issue.
- Debakirna (10/5): Lovely place with warm and genuine humans - The room was huge and the check in was very fast. The owner was very kind and spoke fluent English. She advised on places to visit and things to do. She’s very sweet. The only downsides are they don’t have drinking water faucet or filter. So you end up consuming so many plastic bottles abs that’s not good for the planet. Also they charge 5% if you were to use your card to pay.
- Lindsey (10/5): Good spot near airport - Stayed for one night before a flight. Clean, quiet, close to the airport.
- Patti (8/5): - Very close to airport with a great shuttle service. Staff were very helpful and pleasant. A short cab or long walk to beach. Pool area very nice. Would recommend!
- russell (10/5): - The owners are good people. I stay here for 3 weeks and honestly you are treated like family. Pool great especially if you are on ground floor , balcony goes straight into pool. You can take motorbike from hotel and not far from everything 😃😃
- Douglas (10/5): - Great spot and a terrific value!!
- Kevin (10/5): - Great hotel great staff
- jason (10/5): - Great location. Only a short walk to everything and definately worth it.
- Sierra (10/5): - My husband and I were going to stay one night but instead we stayed four nights. It was walkable to the beach. The room was very clean and owners were wonderful, treated you like family. They provided everything we needed. We would stay again.
- estrella (10/5): - Clean and owner is lovely and very helpful.
- Giovanni (10/5): - No frills property but kept clean and a very nice owner and staff. Highly recommend.
- Scott (10/5): Top hotel - Lovely hotel nice owners that help us
I lot which include free transportation to airport which was nice also lovely big pool also 10 mins walk to beech and loads of bars and restaurants stay here for 3 days on way back from touring the island
- Patrick (10/5): - I was greeted by the owner as if she was expecting family. Spacious room, tidy and clean. >> 7 minute walk to the beach, restaurants, bars, etc. >> 4 minute walk to little town (market).
- denis (10/5): Excellent - Excellent value for your money. Owners are there every day and go beyond duty to make you happy . I will return .
- Pascal (10/5): - Clean and spacious rooms best value for your money but most of all super accommodating and friendly host
- Troy (10/5): - This is a family friendly little place with a nice swimming pool, and excellent staff. Very helpful for what ever you might need . Very convenient, to the beach , airport, everything. I will stay here again when I’m in the area. Very affordable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Wonderful experience all around. The proprietors and their children are welcoming and helpful as are all their staff! Other visitors are a joy to meet and talk with. Beach is a short walk. I highly recommend!!!
- Matthew (10/5): nice local hotel - Very nice hotel run by a local family, friendly place with chatty local travellers. Free trip to the airport was very nice!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Staff and owners are very helpful. The pool is very clean and inviting.
- Mark (10/5): - Very nice and accommodating staff. A great value for very little bhat.
- Bernard (10/5): - Hotel management and staff very courteous and helpfull with our needs. A ,5 10 minute walk to the beautifull Nayang beach. and good proximity to the airport. Scooters available for rent on the premises.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Free ride to the airport = awesome! Great pool and in a great location with a short walk to the beach (even has street lights to walk to beach area for dinner!)
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The room is clean. But for the same price in Phuket you can get better deal.
- Lee (8/5): A convenient hotel close to the airport - I chose this hotel due to its convenient location close to the airport the night before returning to the UK on an early flight.
The staff were very pleasant and helpful and the hotel clean, bright and airy.
The swimming pool was a welcome relief and a nice way to spend a couple of hours in the afternoon before a 10 minute walk to the beach area for dinner at a beach side restaurant and a final foot massage.
The hotel provides free courtesy transport to the airport which was a short 5 minute drive from the hotel.
- Kerrin (8/5): Perfect overnight stay - Very accommodating. Picked us up at the airport at 3am with a smile. Woke up to their beautiful warm pool. Easy place to relax before or after a flight.
- krista (8/5): Good pool and close to airport - Stayed here for 2 nights. Close to restaurants and the beach. Enjoyed the pool. I booked this hotel because it had an airport pickup, unfortunately the hotel shuttle wasn’t at the airport and we had to pay for a taxi.
- Narinder (10/5): Happy Stay - Very pleasant stay, the hotel is run by a family who strive hard to fulfil clients requirements with a smile
- Kerrin (8/5): Pleasant stay between two flights - Short stay between flights. Loved our pool time. Delicious food at Peony Restaurant.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Their style of Pick up service at the Airport is a great idea.
- Chatin (10/5): Very good for the price! - Very nice staff people. Owner very helpful giving us details of roads and how to get where we were heading.
Rooms are clean.
Only downside I found was breakfast.
- Kate (8/5): Big and clean rooms, pool, close to the beach - Was staying here during transit.
Rooms are big and clean, small hotel, not many people staying there, so it's quiet. Beach with shops and cafes is a 5 min walk from hotel, its also 5mins drive from airport to the hotel (free airport shuttle).
Staff is friendly and helpful, tho they hardly speak English.
I arrived earlier than the check-in time and staff was happy to pick me up and check-in few hours earlier. Late check-out is available as well.
Breakfast is 200baht.
Perfect place to stay for a few nights if you are on transit.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice place close to the Airport!!! - We stayed here because we were tired and didn't want to drive down to Patong on the night time. They offer pick up service from the hotel, which was wonderful, specially after two airplane flights. We were starving and there are not many places to eat that are walking distance from the hotel, however, they have a restaurant and a great menu. The food is amazing, I had one the best coconut soup (tom Kha Gai) of my life.
The room is clean and big, quiet, and it has all the amenities, including a very nice pool. The hotel is simple, but had everything that we need. We were very pleased with this place.
- David (6/5): Nice little hotel - The staff and owners at Nai Yang Sonwa are lovely and are diligent about looking after you. Great food, service and free airport transfer at a time to suit you. Nice, clean rooms and lovely pool. However, be aware that ground floor rooms have little privacy as they look out onto pool and people sit outside and walk past your glass sliding door, often looking in. Upstairs would be much more private.
- Mary (6/5): Great location but overpriced - An over priced hptel
- PHILIP (8/5): Great place to stay. - Had 8 nights here after 2 week train travel from Singapore and Malaysia.
Great place to stay and relax, 10 min. walk to beach. 5 min. drive to airport.
Family owned 20 room complex with big rooms, A/C, nice pool and great food - the best I have had in Thailand.
- Rumen (6/5): - It's about 10mins from the beach
Quite area , no cars
Good relaxing
- janelle (8/5): Too old to party at Patong? You'll love Nai Yang - This hotel is not as glamorous as the big beachfront hotels but it does make up for it in price. It is clean. They will shuttle you go the airport for free. It is very close to the airport while still being near the beach. The walk to the beach is 10 minutes. Once there you will find everything you could want ie: ATM, restaurants, bars, beaches, taxis, tuk tuks, national park, massage, souvenirs, pharmacy, street food, coral reef, tour boats....
- ok hotel (6/5): OK hotel for the price - Staff was very sweet. Good place to stay for just the night before a morning flight but not the greatest hotel. Very dated. Rock hard beds and pillows.
- Margaret (10/5): Good Value Pleasant Staff - We booked this room for a quick stop over. Initially expected to arrive after midnight and depart early a.m. Due to flight changes, it ended up being longer. Weigh in what you are paying and keep your expectations in line with that. You will be find the staff pleasant, efficient and more than willing. Room clean, Internet reliable. Good value:)
Airport transfer was a bonus, again quick an efficient. Remember you are not booking 5 star! The review is based on the booking price and level of service one should expect for the star level.
- Theresinha (6/5): You get what you pay for. - You get what you pay for. Location is ok, pretty close to the night market which is definitely worth a visit. Hotel is clean, however welcome wasn't great. We had booked a 3 bedded room, however on arrival we had to assist in getting a fold up single bed squeezed into the corner of our room. Night staff were very friendly.
- WAI MAN (8/5): Nice hotel, very nice hotel staff. - We arrive Phuket at early morning, hotel staff very nice, pick us up at airport and transfer us to airport, nice swim pool and big room, 5 mins to airport, very good.
- Steve (10/5): Good cheap place - very nice hotel, but a bit out of the way to find. besides that, about a 10 minute walk to beach, nice large room with all the usual gear, very friendly hosts, good food and a lovely pool. all rooms have a balcony and ground floor walk straight out of room to pool. A big plus, don't let your initial outlook of the hotel put you off, it is very nice. And at around $30 a night very inexpensive and close to airport, with free airport drop off and pick up.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Two pleasant night - We had two great night stay, spaciouse room and air conditioning work well , 5 minutes walk to the beach and lots of restaurants at the beach. Great for overnight or two 5 minutes from the beach, the owner or taxi driver is reliable for airport pick up and drop off and free also free shuttle to the beach if you don't want to walk.Lovely swimming pool.If you stay there and wand to go to Phuket town taxi is expensive , you can catch airport bus 150 bath on the main road.
- Haley (10/5): Really nice - Really nice service, bit tucked away so our cab from the airport dropped us at the wrong spot. But the owner came and picked us up free of charge. Also got us a taxi when we left to our next town and he waited on the way while we checked out some temples.
- Hans-Olof (8/5): - This place was very clean and the stuff very helpness. The taxi t/r airport is free. Only 10 min. from the airport.
I should com bake again. Love this place, they have a nice swimmingpoool
whit was free.
greastet, hansolof
- diane (8/5): Thailand adventure - End of trip, very early flight out of Phuket. Very close to airport, not a resort but it was clean and comfortable and an easy walk to beach and markets for us who are in our 60s.
- Verified traveler (10/5): good time - nice quite and clean staff vrey good and attentive
- Christie (2/5): Motel, not a Resort. - We arrived around 1am at the Phuket airport, and chose Naiyang Sonwa Resort because it was very close to the airport.
The "resort" name is misleading; it's more of a off-the-beaten-path motel with an outdoor pool next to a muddy field. There were lots of bugs indoors, and I've never slept in a more uncomfortable bed. Our room was drenched in cigarette smoke, and subsequently so was all of our clothing when we left.
The motel seemed empty aside from my husband and I. The "dining" area had a treadmill in the middle of it, and did not seem very accommodating to guests. The staff were not very friendly to us.
- Ashwin (10/5): A Fantastic Stay! - The Hotel Sonwa made me and my wife feel very special, we had a time in and around Phuket but one of the best thing was coming back to the hotel the food was just the best Thai food i have ever had anywhere.
the Pool is just fantastic and the surrounding area is just beautiful. A very hospitable place to spend your time and very relaxing! Thank You.
- Raydan (10/5): Wonderful first time experience - My stay was great. They had a taxi there for airport pickup due to my online request. I got to the roomand they opened the door for me and realized able ght bulb was out and they fixed it right away. Thank you so much. I will be definitely recommending that place to family and friends that come to visit.
- Glenn (8/5): Short stop after late flight - One night stay after arriving late from the airport. Pickup from the airport was sorted quickly and the hotel was nice and clean. The pool outside my room was a nice wake up before travelling to Phi Phi
- Cathy (10/5): Family run operation. - I arrived on a Sunday afternoon made a quick phone call (after picking up a SIM card at the airport) & was met by Go who delievered me to Sonwa. Less than 10 minute drive from the airport. I had planned to stay 3 nights but stayed 2 more when Wan & her staff made me feel so comfortable and took care of me. Enjoyed the 10 minute walk to the Naiyang Beach area. A very quiet beach that is far from the madness of the north end hotels of Phuket. I enjoyed Thai food on a nightly basis at a very reasonable price. My room walked out to the pool and I loved being able cool off whenever I wanted. I found the beds to be hard but that is not unusual in Thailand.
- Jay (8/5): nice hotel just 5mins drive from airport - nice clean hotel near airport. stayed here for the free transfer to and fro to the airport. the beach, restaurants and shops are 15 mins walk away.
- Grant (10/5): Handy Hotel - Very handy hotel to Phuket airport.
We were picked up and dropped off the next via the hotel's car service which was much appreciated.
Nice and clean room with very friendly staff.
Definitely recommend this place if you are in need of an overnight hotel only 5 minutes from the airport.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good budget hotel - Very nice budget motel, very clean and nice people... but bring your earplugs if the other guests decide to stay up and talk at the bar (I did so it didn't bother me, but without them I would have struggled to get to sleep).
- Miku (10/5): Simple is so good - We choose to stay close the the airport the night before an early morning flight. The rest of our trip was in a more resorty and touristy area Phuket. I wish we had spent another day or two at Naiyang Sonwa hotel.
The area is much less developed than the rest of the island. Not so crowded and has a more local relaxed feel. We liked our first hotel and area but as touristy destinations all become more and more a like the Naiyang Sonwa was a welcome change.
Instead of a nice and bit stuff resort the Naiyang Sonwa was friendly and welcoming with a feeling of make yourself at home and enjoy a drink or two or three with the owner and managers. (we didn't) The staff was friendly and accomidating with strong english. Our dinner was quite good.
The beach is maybe 15 minute walk. perhaps 10. The beach was well used but not overly crowded. Around the beach were several stores, food stands and restaurants. There is also a bit of a town near the airport with food and fruit stands etc maybe 5 minutes walk.
The airport was only 5 minutes away. We arrived at 6am for an international flight at 7:20 flight and were not rushed, but also not waiting around.
Naiyang Sonwa is a very nice simple hotel near the airport. However, they have so much more to offer. If you can find the time stay an extra day, or perhaps make it your home base.
- Verified traveler (10/5): staff very help full....Free tansfer from the hote - Nice pool and clean
Room are big......ask grown rooms.....directly access to the swimming pool
- phoulysa (8/5): value for money - very quiet and affordable hotel to stay in, very helpful and friendly staffs, location wise very close to everything, specially if you only need an overnight stay to catch your next plane out.
- Mel (8/5): Nice Clean and quiet hotel - We have stayed in the hotel for 3 nights. It was peaceful and quiet most of times. It is also very near to a beach and national park.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Clean and Comfortable Stay - Great hotel as far as I, as a budget traveller, am concerned. Very clean, all amenities of good quality, pool was great, staff willing to help, airport pick up and return smooth. Ended up with bad food poisoning from the Indian restaurant near by and this hotel was a great comfort as I suffered through it! Definitely consider.:-)
- Niraj (8/5): Pleasant family hotel close to airport. - We had to just stay in an ecomomical hotel for the night close to the airport, and this fit the bill. We were lucky that we had a taxi to reach the hotel in the night, otherwise it would be difficult.
- seamus (10/5): class hotel! - Only stayed one night as we were flying to Bangkok the next day fantastic pool great staff and the owner tuck us to the airport at 6.30 am the next morning now thats service!
- Benni (6/5): Everything ok for the price - Except the pickup service, which was unfortunately not available at our arrival day...:-(
- Shirley (8/5): Nice hotel, near airport - Stayed for one night and it was a comfortable stay. The room with two double beds was clean and spacious. There are sliding doors that opened to a pool. The hallways aren't enclosed so be prepared to encounter small geckos/small lizard-like creatures.
- Misty (10/5): Our Favorite Hotel in Thailand So Far! - We absolutely love it! We booked two rooms at this hotel for my husband, daughter, and myself after a long weekend in KL. We just wanted something close to the Phuket airport so we could rest up a bit after our trip. Wow, were we surprised! This hotel is so nice and so comfortable, we ended up booking the rest of the week. We still do not want to leave! The staff is so warm and sweet. The owners are amazing! They have gone above and beyond to make sure our stay has been the best! We had some communication issues regarding breakfast the first couple of mornings but after talking with the owner everything was cleared up right away! We should have talked with her sooner because breakfast was amazing. We really can't say enough good about this hotel. They are constantly cleaning, doing maintenance, and busy. The walk to the beach is maybe 10 minutes, but it is a nice walk. There are many great restaurants along the way and even after the recent military clean up, there are still some great restaurants on the beach. Come to this hotel for the convenience stay for the comfort and hospitality!
