Guest Reviews
- Andrew (8/5): Stayed for 1 night, staff were very friendly and all attractions were near by. - Rooms were clean and comfortable, close to all the attractions.
- Douglas (4/5): - Isla Mujeres is a tiny island with many choices. Ive been coming here for 18 yrs. I needed a ladt minute room for a friend visiting. This hotel is in a PRIME location! The rooms are clean & very comfortable. The hotel itself is a disaster & poorly run. Xmas deco in February. Laundry, waterbottles, towels everywhere. Extremely rude staff. Balcony & stair railings broken. There is a reason that they were 3/4 empty at the peak of the season.
- Brent (10/5): Great stay - Great stay (overnight). Good air conditioning (quiet).
Staff were great, friendly and always smiling.
Small balcony off room, 2 double beds, refrigerator, small bathroom with a large shower (shower head could use a tightening or replacement - water spraying over)
Quiet location, close to board walk.
- Kate (8/5): - The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean with a large shower and plenty of hot water. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is there was a musty smell in my room.
- John (10/5): - Excellent budget hotel. Small number of rooms. Friendly staff. Clean, comfortable rooms. Short walk to north beach and restaurants.
- Tiffany (10/5): - The property has an excellent location. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The check in and check out process was easy. The only downside was the low water pressure. Otherwise, will probably stay again.
- Devleta (7/5): I can not to wait to go out from there - The bed is good, Hotel is as beautiful as a house The Room doesn't have internet, the hallway doesn't have IC, They don't have towels, and they look very bad I can not put my face in these towels looking like an old dirty bathmat..The employees are NOT friendly including the Manager, They talk very negatively about guests. There are two big Dogs that I must care about when I walk on Halway so as not to step on them because they lying on the way and showing teeth to me..I did not feel welcome with my American Passport ...
- Chele (10/5): - Perfect location and friendly staff!
- Frances (8/5): Good find - A wonderful little hotel in an excellent location near market, golf cart rental, numerous restaurants and a few blocks from the beach. The front rooms were noisy at night, but with ac, no problem. I definitely would stay there again.
- Renee (8/5): - Great property for the price. Could use some updated bedding.
- Chido (6/5): - The hotel was central to everything and it was very easy
to get around by just walking.
- Kory (10/5): Staff was very friendly. Great, quiet hotel. -
- Timothy (8/5): Very good -
- Gerald (9/5): good one - staff no clean sheets for a week
- Debbie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Matthew (10/5): - Was great for a few days.
- Daniel J. (2/5): Hidden fees, shady operation, beware - BEWARE, hidden charges. Hotel manager tried to charge me extra for "local environmental fee" and when I disputed it stating I paid on hotels.com he said it was a separate charge. Extortion is what it is, when I agreed to pay it because I was tried and hot, attempted to use credit card and he said it would be DOUBLE the fee. Scam, should be removed from site. I would never stay here. Did I mention the scruffy dog that came out in the lobby to bark at us? What a joke of an operation. Stay far away!
- Inkeri (7/5): Good - The hotel has seen better days but is well located and has everything you need. Room has aircon and fridge. Staff is friendly and helpful and speak English.
- Gabriel_berenguer (6/5): Good location - Great location and good size of bedrooms. Washroom showerhead stall could be renovated and weird smell in the bedrooms. Not due to lack of cleaning by the cleaning time, I guess it is more related to aged building, finishes ...
- Simon (9/5): Good central option on Isla Mujeres - Central small hotel on Isla Mujeres. Easy check in, comfortable room, quiet location but close to both beaches and the pedestrian street or ferry.
- Arik (10/5): I will come back soon - the service was very good it’s closer to everywhere
- Nathan (9/5): Superb -
- Mischa (1/5): Don't book at this tourist scammer but search for better options first! - Location is very central Very bad service from the employees. At first we had to wait until 15:30 with the checkin even we arrived at 14:00... After that we received a room without Wifi. After some time we realised this was not the premium room we booked. After we asked for the premium room, it was sold out... When we asked our money back; they just laught and said we can call the police or booking if I have a problem. Just a simple tourist scam to make more money on a cheap room.
Furthermore, the rooms are very outdated and have very uncomfortable beds.
Please avoid this hotel at al cost!
- Piia (7/5): Good -
- Jakub (7/5): If you’re in for the island and not the hotel - go for it. - Great location, just five minutes walking from the port. Close to the beach and all the spots in the northen part of the island. Yet it was very quite and clean. The hotel is pretty old, very slow wifi and only in the common areas. Receptionist didn’t speak really english - only few words, but we didn’t have deal with any problems to solve.
- Sarah (9/5): Superb -
- Megan (10/5): Exceptional - Super helpful front desk, room was big and clean, shower was great!
- Marilyn (3/5): Book if you just need a place to sleep for 1,2 nights - I liked they accommodated us even though we did not have a reservation. Receptionist said they had showers we could use to wash out sand, but there’s no showers in the hotel only in the rooms,
Bathroom smelled bad and did not looked clean.
Hand towel was missing.
Internet is week in the rooms.
- Gwen (10/5): Great Place - A quiet, well maintained hotel. They are doing a great job with conservation on the tiny island. The internet worked well and the staff was very pleasant and attentive.
- Dianilda (6/5): - Para una estadias rapida esta bien, no nos gusto que no tuvieramos nevera ni plancha.
- Hannah (9/5): amazing location, incredible value for money - really great location, friendly staff, amazing for the price - clean, comfortable, everything you could need!
- David (6/5): - When the Isleno was first built it was wonderful. State of the art electrical system, modern style. All good. Now it needs a major cleaning. Things have become dingy. The towels should have been moved to the cleaning rag department a long time ago. The place could be sparkling and beautiful. It is not.
- Monika (9/5): nice and cozy hotel close to sea side:) - great value for the price, rooms are clean and little bit old in decor but again in good value! Wi-Fi was working only in the main lobby
- David (9/5): Superb -
- Richard (8/5): Very good -
- Francois (6/5): Pleasant - location wifi
- Petr (6/5): Pleasant - The location was good, very close to the main road and not noisy at night. The size of the room was good, beds as well. The aircon was quite noisy, we had a room with balcony which was so small that we could maybe just stand there, not really an issue for us though. No wifi in the room.
- Mathew (8/5): so so - We had tonget the front deskntpnsweep the floors as it was covered with hair. The mattress covers made sleeping awful all they did was make you sweat. Woke up several times soaked. Very disgusting
- Nir (8/5): Nice hotel for couples on budget - Big room
Great shower
Great AC
Great location No wifi inside the room
- Rose (10/5): Exceptional -
- Don (7/5): Good -
- Ziya (9/5): Superb -
- Adi (8/5): Very good - The location was great
Walking distance to the ferry Not very clean.
- Martyna (7/5): It was nice to get free coffee on the morning - Check out at 1 p.m At rooms there wasnt internet. Only in the lobby.
- Aimee (7/5): great location, clean accommodations. - rooms were clean, front desk staff very pleasant. excellent location. very sparse supplies in the room, ie 2 towels, no wash cloths, no shampoo 2 small bars of soap. 2 days in a row returned back to room not being cleaned, no issue with that really other than running out of toilet paper and needing new towels. beds and pillows very firm.
- Carlos (9/5): Superb - Location. Nothing in particular
- Ella (8/5): Very good -
- Carlos (9/5): Superb - Location. Close enough to beach and action, but quiet enough for a good sleep (better without a balcony). Very good for an inexpensive hotel. No particular remarks.
- Barry (10/5): - Great hotel....location perfect..near places to eat ,beach ,market...and just at the end of the busy area ..quiet at night....front desk and house keeping where great..room very big ..great TV..bathroom..very clean..i would stay here again..great hotel!!!!
- Anonymous (6/5): great location! staff was great - location door key control electrical in room.
no towels unless you ask.
shower was not clean
sage uses tiny key /no code
coffee pot was on a dresser by check out desk and they had no cream or stir sticks.
- Christie (8/5): Very good -
- Margaret (8/5): good value , only down side is not having wifi in the room. - I like the location, the room was a good size the wifi doesn't reach into the rooms
- Eirik (9/5): Superb -
- Glenn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nata_liii (8/5): Great location, good value for money, comfy beds - Very nice location, good value for the money and big room and comfy bed. The room was a bit old and rusty and a bit dark, because windows were close to the walls. One of the beds was covered in plastic, so it was little uncomfortable, but ok
- Alya (8/5): Great value and friendly - Size of room, comfy bed cleanliness, location friendly staff easy check in No privacy curtains
- Omri (7/5): Good -
- Angel (9/5): Superb -
- Tamir (7/5): Good - Good location and a big room. We did not have hot water in the shower.
- David (10/5): Exceptional -
- Carla (8/5): Very good -
- Danielle (6/5): - I like the hotel it had a lot of amenities such as a tv and fridge I just couldn't sleep at night sometimes because there was a bar across the street and because of the noise also the room I had was mid hotel so you can hear the reception at all hours talking. I did enjoy the room though as its close to everything and centrally located.
- Alexander (10/5): - The staff was very friendly and helpful
- Jeffrey (8/5): Hotel Isleno - This spot is great because it’s close to playa Norte and it serves as a gateway to Hidalgo St. Where all the nightlife is.
- Peggy (8/5): - The room was nice and comfortable. On a quiet street in a good location to the malecon and close to el centro.
- Janet (8/5): Nice place to stay - Location location location. This hotel was in the heart of shopping, restaurants and a short walk to the beach and the ferry. The manager was very kind and helpful and spoke English. The room was clean and the plumbing was AOK.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good location but not many amenities - This place is conveniently located to everything on the north end. We stayed 10 nights and was a little disappointed with cleaning service. They came 2x to our room and the first time was day 3 and didn’t do anything except sweep the floor and take out the trash bags but did not replace the bags, change towels, clean the bathroom or even change the sheets. Said they had no hand towels and would only give us 1 towel each to use for everything. Did offer to give us a new towels the next day. Only one key card is given per room. Staff was very nice and tried to be helpful as best they could.
- Andrea S (8/5): - This hotel is the best bang for your buck that I've found in a long time and that gave me the option to book us two rooms. It's right in the middle of the action, so it can be a tad noisy at night, but it's very close to everything. The hotel staff is very nice and accommodating. The rooms were clean and simple. It's not as plush as 5 star, but again, it's really nice for the price point. We would stay again.
- Bernie (10/5): Hotel Isleno - The staff is nothing but courteous and go above their duties to help.
- Henrietta (10/5): - Manuel and the rest of the staff were exemplary. The hotel is centrally located, yet far enough off of the street with the bars and restaurants that it is quiet. We loved our stay and will definitely stay there again!
- Alviera (10/5): Very Positive Experience! - I have only good things to say about this place! They upgraded us to a superior room, with @ view of the ocean. They have chairs and towels for free borrowing for the beach. Other noticeable perks: Always friendly staff, free coffee in the mornings, helpful personel, maps, wifi, and SO clean all over! I’d go again!
- Jamie (10/5): Great find and great value - Really friendly and helpful staff. There is coffee and little cakes in the morning. They have deckchairs you can borrow for the beach and they are always happy to help with anything. Great location, clean and spacious rooms, great air con so overall huge value for money.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This is a lower cost option, so it's fairly good for the price. Each room has an airconditioner and mini fridge .There is a microwave and purified water dispenser in the like lobby area. There is no elevator, so if you're on the second or third floor you will have to carry your bags. It's a short walk to a grocery store, Playa Norte, and lots of restaurants .
- Jessica (8/5): - This was a great place to stay for the price. I was switched room in the middle of my stay because the AC broke but it was a fast switch. I believe I was the only customer staying in the hotel at the time. I was allowed early access to my room and got late check out. Staff and owner is very friendly and accommodating. My only cons would be the beds are very hard and the street outside is pretty busy during the day. I only heard the traffic when I tried to take a nap around noon.
- Peter (8/5): Isla Mujeres visit, - The hotel itself is a very small, but friendly establishment. The room was very clean, air conditioning excellent. There is coffee in the lobby which is very tasty in the morning. All in all, I would stay there again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Small, laid-back, nice people - Like many other hotels on the island this is a small, laid-back, family-operated property. We booked the day before arrival and paid US$70 so we weren't expecting very much. The location is close to everything yet on a relatively quiet street. It turned out to be perfectly functional and surprisingly comfortable although our room had no view (windows facing concrete walls). What we liked best was the warmth of the staff: they showed that they valued guests and genuinely cared about us. Good WiFi too.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Second time there, staff is very accomodating - Simple, not frills, just what we wanted. Close to everything that we needed.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Beautiful hotel, wonderful staff! - Will definitely come back! Close to the beach, nice and clean.
- Donna (10/5): - This was our second stay at Hotel Isleno and it did not disappoint. The hotel is clean, our rooms are clean and the staff is very helpful and friendly. The hotel is very close to the shops, restaurants and the beach. It is a great value for your money and we feel it provides a more authentic experience than what we would have staying at the resorts. Coffee is provided in the common area each morning. The hotel also provides mats and beach towels. Each floor has a lounge area, though not air conditioned, once the sliding doors are opened it is a very nice place to hang out. Our room had a safe, wifi/internet, huge shower and a small refrigerator. Something I think is important to add is how the A/C works. You are given 1 key to enter the room, this key is placed in the slot that runs the A/C, when you leave the room you take the key with you and the A/C turns off. This was not a problem for us-in fact we appreciated them being environmentally friendly. Our room stayed relatively cool while we were gone and cooled down completely in minutes once we returned and placed the key back in the slot. Another plus to this system is we never had to search for the key. We will stay here next time.
- Deborah (6/5): - You definitely need a balcony to dry your clothes. We didn’t have one. Took 2 days for clothes to almost dry. Bathroom was too small. Hard to get past door and sink. Room too close to lobby. Could hear people talking. Got woke up many times with original jw coming and going and talking in the lobby.
- Harold (10/5): Best little hotel in Isla - This hotel is absolutely the best! I've stayed in hotels on Isla Mujeres a dozen times and by far this is my favorite. The staff is friendly, the room was clean and comfortable. I can't say enough good things about this place.
- Susan (10/5): Two Balconies! - Excellent location in town. I would rather be near restaurants and activity than at the Beach. Our room #105 Has a wonderful surprise - two balconies. In addition, there are 2 more side windows besides, so the entire space is light filled, if you draw the curtains. As it is on the 2nd floor, we never did need to use our air conditioning due to the breezes. This is set on quite a busy street, so if traffic noise bothers you, you will not be able to really appreciate open doors. The only issue we had was no hot water when we arrived, and it was not repaired until our 2nd day. But they did work on it quite hard. The service was very personable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I enjoyed my experience at Hotel Isleno and actually added on an extra day. I would have loved to stay even longer but needed to find a hotel which was a little less expensive. The staff was very helpful and the room comfortable. There was always someone at the desk to answer questions. I really appreciated that they provided beach towels and chairs. I liked that there was a decent size refrigerator in my room and also enjoyed all of the various common areas for sitting and relaxing.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Not on the beach but still great location - This hotel is near the south end of Hildago (the main drag) and about 5-10 min walk to the beach playa norte. Also very simple to take a cab to the beach or anywhere else. Staff is great, helpful, and the hotel is clean and really awesome for the price. The lights and air conditioning power off when you leave the room so keep that in mind if you like a cool room. My only complaint is that they ran my debit card for the full amount on a random day 3 weeks after I booked. I didn't not have the total funds in that account and was under the assumption I was paying on arrival. It took a few days to get cleared up through Expedia and everything turned out fine. Would recommend this to anyone looking in this price range.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Clean and friendly. They provide beach chairs and beach towels.
- scphel (10/5): Wonderful - Neat, clean & comfortable. Staff couldn't have been more friendly, kind & helpful. HIGHLY recommend!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good, clean hotel in good location - Hotel was clean, staff was friendly and nice. Only had two issues: The wifi did not work at all and the water was turned off at night which surprised me when I tried to flush the toilet late at night and wash my hands. When I asked the staff about the water being cut off in the evenings, they said they were unaware so perhaps it was a one time thing?
- David (8/5): Nice old but clean but modest hotel. No phones. - Great Island. Beautiful water views. Rent a Golf cart and visit around the total island. Much to see and do. Get Mexican money or you will get screwed. Many places don't give exchange rate by over half. I will come back to this island again I love it.
- melissa (6/5): - Hotel was clean and hotel staff were kind. Wifi don't work at all, however I would return. Free coffee in morning was great and they had towels you could take to the beach.
- Alan (8/5): Excellent budget hotel - I stayed for about $85 U.S. per night. Great location between everything on the Playa Norte neighborhood. Good Wifi. No coffee maker or wet bar. (Coffee downstairs). My friends and family stayed at the all inclusives on the beach which was way, way more expensive. I definitely came out ahead even after paying for a day pass from the all-inclusive, buying my own drinks, and having a variety of cheaper (and diverse) meals in town rather than the same buffet line each time.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Wi-fi was very sketchy again.
- JL (8/5): Bang for your buck - The location is great very close to the heart of Hidalgo, as well a dozens of other bars coffee shops restaurants etc. 10 min walk to playa Norte, 10 minute walk to the Ferry.
- Lauren (6/5): Moderate place in great location - A good in-between range - not a hostel, not a 4-star resort, just a basic hotel. Great location in the central area, easy walk to shops, restaurants, beaches, ferry pier. Room clean & tidy, a/c worked really well and was adjustable as was the ceiling fan (so many places you can't adjust the settings!). Not really any English spoken at reception if this is an issue for you. My only gripe is the beds - mattresses like rocks! I ended up sleeping on a line of pillows.
- Margo Rita (8/5): Great little hotel - I love the location. It was very clean and quiet. The A/C and shower worked great. The wifi worked fine and the beds were surprisingly comfortable. The young ladies that work there were very sweet and kept the place very clean. The men that worked there were very grouchy and lazy. I would stay here again. I would not recommend it for families as it does not have a pool or any accomodations for kids. The only issues I had was that I was under the impression by Expedia that my hotel had already been billed to my credit card, so when the guy at the desk wanted to collect again, I was a little miffed. He told me that this happens all the time with Expedia. My other hotels I stayed in during this trip in Mexico were all paid for prior to my arrival through Expedia. Not sure why the inconsistancy with Expedia. All in all, it was a good experience.
- The Jolly's (8/5): Nice basic hotel - The room we stayed in was clean, simple, and quiet. The room required that the key card be inserted into a slot in the room in order for there to be power/electricity, which helped prevent needless consumption. The hotel is located near the busy downtown area making everything accessible and is also near the beautiful north beach. The wifi worked well as did everything else in the room. The staff was friendly and helpful with basic requests/questions.
