Guest Reviews
- Ines (8/5): It fulfilled my needs. - It was around the corner from a great pub called Eli's Mile High Club, which had great live music. Also, easy access to Berkeley. Loved the view of the houses across the street from the motel. Uninspired interior.
- Yunqi (8/5): -
- Michael (10/5): Great - Excellent accommodating staff
- Wei (9/5): -
- Jerold (10/5): Nice place, great value, 10 minute walk from BART - I think it was renovated recently. Everything was clean. The person (owner) at the front desk was kind and helpful, going "above and beyond" to give me a large new can of shaving cream since I'd forgotten mine. The MacArthur BART station is a 10-minute walk away. Great value: $80 including tax for a single room mid-May. A framed print was loosely hung over the head of the bed. This can be dangerous during an earthquake. It should be anchored to the wall so it can't shake loose.
- Richard (4/5): Ty - Gg Yyy
- Athena (8/5): - Staff was very friendly and even placed our friends in the room next door to make it easy to hang out. Easy drive over back to SF so great value for the location. Will definitely stay here again! The immediate neighborhood is not great.
- Toakase (1/5): -
- Cory (1/5): - I didn't like anything I didn't get to stay there there tell me that my credit card wasn't something that they ever seen before but I had my name on it so I'm definitely looking to some stuff with the law on that. I didn't like anything the staff was very rude they wouldn't let me stay there because of my credit card and my credit card was valid it had my name on it and everything.
- Sorin Iulian (8/5): Good and practical - Good location, very flexible, kind people
- Alex (5/5): - Great location, helpful staff, cheap-ish price. Old, beaten up furniture incl. stained lounge chair.
- Sonja (10/5): - Alles Bestens, gibt nichts zu beanstanden. Kann man weiter empfehlen
- XIAOFAN (3/5): -
- Jose (6/5): - It was quiet. The building not up to date needs roof attention leaking. It was not clean properly.
- Kenny James (10/5): A great overnight for business travelers. - Management works hard to provide a clean, quiet, safe place to stay.
- wenguang he & (1/5): Extremely rude staff, disgusting bed - Price . The staff member was extremely rude. I’m not sure why this individual was hired—he swore repeatedly on different occasions and was very dismissive and disrespectful. The bed was comfortable to lie on, but it was heavily stained and looked disgusting. The water pressure was very weak and, at times, was barely more than a drip. I would never come back and absolutely do not recommend this place.
- Elizabeth (4/5): -
- Matthew (6/5): -
- Jacob (10/5): -
- daniel (1/5): Staff is horrible and rude. - Nothing positive here. The staff are rude and the room was filthy.
- Jacqueline (10/5): nice place clean room close to bart neighborhood was okay. - The room was available. the cost was in my budget. staff was friendly, did not have a problem with the neighborhood. took a cab to and from. did not have a problem coming in after 10pm from an all day conference. none observed.
- Vitali (10/5): -
- Jerry (9/5): -
- Goudeau (3/5): - We were charged $40 for fees that they couldn't explain we ended up paying $70 in fees plus $150 $8 rate much more than we expected no one could explain to us why plus we paid $100 deposit we ended up getting 80 of it back
- Al (6/5): -
- John (1/5): -
- Jaime (7/5): Comfortable and felt safe - Easy and fast The pillowcases and sheets smelled a little musty.
Maybe they were not dried properly
- Kenny James (10/5): -
- Thomas (10/5): -
- Pavel (10/5): Perfect motel for it’s price. Staff is super responsive and nice. Recommend all the way. Stayed here 2 times with 2y gap - Everything Nothing
- Huadong (6/5): It's fine to stay for a night if you have a car. - Near the bus stop, it's easy to park. The smell of the front table is disgusting.
- Rea (9/5): Happy to find, would stay again - Felt safe; microwave & fridge No hangers, iron, ironing board, hair dryer
- Charline (9/5): -
- Sanna (8/5): - Clean bathroom. Courteous staff. Comfortable bed.
- Theodore (4/5): Oakland's Bay Bridge Inn is a classic case of you get what you pay for. - Price. Room was tiny. Only chair was underneath the clothes rack that served as a closet. No hooks in bathroom to hang towels. No outdoor space.
Ottimo prezzo. Pulizia da migliorare
- David (9/5): -
- Marie (9/5): It was a goodplace to stay at with nice staff. I felt safe and it was worth the money I paid for - It seemed safe enough. Staff was nice Only one trash can and nobody came to collect our trash
- Scott (10/5): -
- John (10/5): - Bay Bridge Inn was a nice , well kept place. Staff were very friendly. Very close to the local Kaiser Hospital I was visiting. Very reasonable pricing for a basic room.
- Tracee (6/5): Jekyl and Hyde - I arrived at night and greeted by an aggressive male, making sure I was going to be only person staying in the room. Even after I explained that my nephew and niece were just carrying my bags for me after picking me up from the airport. The next morning was a lot better, he seemed like a different person. He got even nicer when I asked about a room for my adult son, as I wanted him close by. I had no other issues with my stay.
- Kenny James (10/5): Excellent value! Safe and quiet! - A safe, quiet place to stay on business. The property manager works hard to provide a good value.
- Michael (10/5): - Very nice
- Forrest (8/5): Nothing special but nice for the price - Good sized room. It was clean. Clerk was friendly and efficient. Decent place. decent price.
- Eric (10/5): - Property was well located for easy access, and staff was helpful and present. Room was clean and functional. The street outside was noisy, was I barely heard when I was in the room, which was located right on the street. The area has sidewalks and crosswalks, but it's sometimes quite a distance to most places on foot . Bart, however is pretty handy (10-15 minutes on foot).
- Michael (10/5): - Wonderful place
- Verified traveler (6/5): Bay Bridge largely met my needs - Staying in Berkeley during Univ. Cal dorm move in week wasn't possible so I chose this motel in Oakland. Basically I needed a place to sleep and nothing more for 4 nights. The Bay Bridge met my needs fairly well with one exception. Very basic room in decent condition. Grounds were neat and staff was very friendly. Location actually wasn't too bad--a straight shot on MLK Jr to downtown Berkeley. The neighborhood felt kind of sketchy but I didn't have any issues. So my only really complaint was the lack of water in the shower. Enough to get the job done but not much more.
- Brian (10/5): - The manager was very nice and helpful. Because I am handicapped I asked for a ground floor room upon arrival. He went out of his way to accommodate me.
Whoever said that it was dirty and full of bed bugs was just trying to give it a low score.
- Wei-Lun (6/5): -
- Vanson (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gabo (7/5): Good -
- Rob (8/5): - I would stay there again
- Ryne (8/5): Very good -
- Leo (10/5): - Nice Place
- Peter (9/5): Superb -
- Brian (8/5): - Well maintained property, clean and attractive. Good quality furnishings. The large mini frig was a plus. HVAC worked well. Renovated bathroom was well done. Plenty of electrical outlets. Fairly quiet in area towards the back of the property. Lots of off street parking. Friendly and helpful front desk staff. The only item that prevented this review from having more 5 stars is that the water pressure for the shower was very low. Property manager should correct this. Otherwise it is a good value.
- Charles (1/5): Fraud. - Management tried to assess charges that were not part of the reservation. I now have a charge from booking.com of $87.59. This is a fraudulent charge and the circumstances were discussed at length with booking.com. I demand that booking.com reverse this charge.
- Ellen (9/5): Good choice for Oakland. Little pricey, but everything else is good. - Very close by the bay bridge, which was important because we were going to San Francisco every day. Good facilities, everything I needed in a room. Good shower with hot and cold water, a deep sink which I liked. Good bathroom. Room was clean when we entered and room service cleaned it and resupplied items while we were out. Nice staff. We were looking for something cheaper ideally. This was the best we found, and the facilities are good but it'd be nice if it was cheaper.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Very good basic - Very good basic Motel. Clean, excellent firm king bed, very friendly and knowledgeable staff. A little noisy from the second floor.
- Dr. Marjorie (8/5): - Simple no frills.
Safe and convenient.
- Giulio (8/5): Very good - Shout out to the guy at the reception!
He was exceptional, gave us all the info we needed about the city and the neighborhood.
Thanks again!
- Philippe (8/5): Very good - A better place than the upwardly neighborhood, well kept, and clean. A short walk to Bart. just nice all over
- Kevin (10/5): - The staff were very kind. The room was clean and the TV worked well. There was a fridge and microwave and both worked.
- Muhammad (6/5): Pleasant -
- Tsholofelo (7/5): They used air freshener to cover the smell when you initially enter the room. - Proximity to work Room smelled like smoke even though it was supposed to be non smoking one.
- Louis (9/5): Superb - Property was in excellent condition, which is rare for this price range. Clean, freshly painted, quiet and everything works properly. There were no sketchy guests or residents which was also nice.
- Renee (10/5): Good customer service - The owner was friendly and helpful
- Dawei (10/5): - Staff is really nice
- trevor (10/5): - Old smell
- Billy (10/5): - Friendly and great service. Good amenities and clean and spacious room
- Gomez (5/5): Passable -
- Brianawells (5/5): Good "low key" flop house without... - Bed comfortable. Good heat for room made it decent. Staff/Owner friendly. Got in at midnight as my teen at Childrens hospital so needed sleep. Got that but thats about the best i can say for room plus heat. No food or cafe by so to me Coffee alone would be huge for those worrying at hospitals nearby or for a good stopover. Even Folgers in office per can is $10. Huge difference. Shower was like intermittent. No coffee in rooms. No coffee in office. Nothing. Wasnt expecting breakfast but nothing.
- Keeley (10/5): AC should be configured to keep the fan running even when it stops heating/cooling. - To provide white noise while simultaneously heating the room, I took off the face cover of the AC unit and toggled the switch to Constant Fan (the switch is located just below the control panel). This should probably be the default for all rooms.
- Lara (8/5): Very good -
- Morag (3/5): Clean room, bad smell, poor facilities - Staff were very friendly and accommodating. The room was clean and the bed was really comfortable. The room had a very strong mold smell. The fridge didn’t work and had mold inside. Almost no water pressure in the shower. There was no housekeeping during my stay. The area was very sketchy and not safe to walk around at night - there were about 20 police cars across the street responding to a crime incident one of the nights I was there. The power went out one night so there was no heating and it was freezing. The location might be good if you want to talk to the Bart station (but wouldn't advise this at night) but otherwise there were no restaurants, cafes or shops within walking distance.
- Bella (6/5): - Staff was very friendly. I liked that they had free parking and cameras monitoring the lot. It was easy to find and close to the highway, making it easy to come and go. The reason I gave it three stars was because I was not given the wifi password (nor did I ask) and the water pressure in the shower was poor. Otherwise it was a pleasant motel to stay at.
- Rodrigo (1/5): Bad -
- Michael (8/5): Very good - Staff was friendly and helpful.
There was an alert for a civil emergency (earthquake/tsunami) and were able to give me additional information quickly.
- Graham (10/5): - I was very pleasantly surprised with my stay at Bay Bridge Inn. Having stayed at a lot of very cheap motels, I was expecting sketchy characters, possibly a lot of noise, and overall gross-feeling accommodations. This was not the case here.
The man at the front desk was very nice, quick and attentive. I didn't see or encounter any sketchy characters on the property whatsoever. The room was perfectly clean and I felt comfortable all around.
The only downside of this motel that I can think of, is that it is in a somewhat unsavory part of Oakland, but I knew that coming in.
I would absolutely stay here again.
- Kaiyue (8/5): Very good - The staff, very friendly and helpful. A bit of molding smell in the room. No appropriate soap/shampoo. Meh hot water.
- Kirksey (9/5): Superb -
- Ronald (8/5): Good Good - One of the plugs didn't work on the kitchen counter and is there a microwave didn't work
- Vasco (2/5): Avoid it if you're staying for San Francisco - Price was low for San Francisco area Unfriendly staff behind bullet proof glass, room smelled terribly of smoke, the area is super sketchy full of drug users, destroyed cars, etc.
- Sherab (8/5): - The price is very decent for the room you get. Room is very clean, and the onsite manager is very kind. But you get just the room (which is OK if that's all you need)! Keep in mind this two-star hotel is located at the edge of the city. It's probably best choice for travelers who drive themselves. It's within 5 to 10 minutes walk to public transportations including Bart train station and several buses. But be prepared to walk through some poorly conditioned areas.
- Alexandru (8/5): Very good -
- Alexandru (8/5): Very good -
- Wilson (9/5): Superb -
- Jacqueline (10/5): Exceptional -
- Erica (8/5): - Free parking in a massive parking area, convenient location for shops and tourist spots etc. and surprisingly quiet considering besing so close to main road. Room was clean and comfortable. Had a fridge and microwave but no tea / coffee making facility.
The room itself was a bit dated and a bit dingy but you can call it retro I suppose.
Had no lift, and ice machine was out of order (and looked like it has been for quite some time), sometimes reception was not manned so you probably want to be careful not to run out of things you have to ask for.
These small negatives were still torelable, these were nothing to compare to.... the SHOWER. OMG, I never had to turn so many times to wash because the water had VERY little pressure and water came out like tiny spray. Not drips, but spray. You need to shower in sections of body with that little amount of water, and it takes AGES. I was glad I only had 2 nights there, it was such a chore to shower!!
- Pavla (10/5): The owners are working hard to make your stay great - Great value for the money, clean, cozy accommodation
- Gary (5/5): For this trip, the site served my immediate purpose. Not sure I'd return in the future. - Close to the BART. Plenty of parking. Room was okay but not truly comfortable. The staff was stingy with the towels, which were not of best quality. When I arrived, the staffer at the desk was insolent, began barking at me ... he was apparently not happy with his day and I bore the wrath of that. When I pointed out that I was a customer he threaten to make me leave the premise, and I'd just completed a 6 hour drive ! The rest of my 3 days there he "tried" to be nicer, but it wasn't a very enduring effort.
- Esther (10/5): - Lovely
