- Stay44975594651 (10/5): Fabulous service and location - We spent a lovely weekend in Santubong. So glad we chose Cove55. The resort is superbly maintained, considering it is an older property. The rooms are massive and clean. I would suggest taking higher floors if you are within the main mansion. What stood out is the Front Desk - the guest experience is delightful. Very prompt response time and helpful in accommodating our requests. The WhatsApp responses were so well-written that I sometimes thought they were from AI. :) Perhaps a combination of human + AI. I loved the pool and views. The Zebra craft beer offering is a nice touch - I wasn't able to find it anywhere else locally. Really have no negative feedback - keep up the good work. I'm sure to be back.
- Jeff1304 (10/5): A Super Place to stay for a relaxing few days - This Hotel sits on its own by the coast and has beautiful gardens. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The breakfast and dinners I enjoyed were absolutely Top class and really made my stay. There is a good size swimming pool. The Hotel offers free transport to nearby attractions and activities. The only disappointment is that it was not possible to swim in the sea due to crocodiles.

- Sonia (10/5): Stunning location, great stay, friendly and welcoming staff. Give the cooking class a go! - The setting is absolutely stunning - Mount Santubong in the hinterland and the South China Sea in the foreground. The grounds of the hotel are also beautifully maintained. The cooking class offered by the hotel is great. I’d recommend it - fabulous produce, really good and insightful instruction and good fun. A great way to spend a rainy couple of hours. We opted for half board given location and lack of nearby quality restaurants. The dinner menu is extensive and the food excellent. Our room with sea view balcony was very spacious and clean. The hotel offers a complimentary car service to the local shops - we used this a couple of times - it’s a great service. All the staff were incredibly welcoming and professional. Very little not to like but some of the public areas - specifically the stairway up to the rooms didn’t appear to be very clean - minor but as a first impression not great. Our room whilst clean could do with a little TLC in terms of the paintwork.

- CJA393939 (6/5): Not to the standard I expected - I was so looking forward to our 3 night stay at Cove 55, but sadly it did not match my expectations. On the plus side, the restaurant and food was excellent, as was the luxury transfer service to and from the airport. However, the hotel is badly in need a refurbishment and some areas are quite tatty. Particularly the swimming pool, which should be such a plus point of the hotel. There were many tiles missing from the pool, the bar was run down with old furniture that needs replacing, as do the sunbeds which are frankly disgusting. We booked a corner suite, but were disappointed to find it didn't have a balcony - although the room was very nice otherwise. The towels are old and thin, and again desperately in need of replacement. During our stay, food was left outside the room next door to ours, where it stayed for over 24 hours, attracting flies. Eventually I had to ask Reception to get it removed. This is not what I expected from a hotel charging such high room rates.

C’est loin d’être très économique mais très confort et très bon et fait partie intégrante du choix d’être loin du centre.

- RossandKarenT (8/5): Relaxing stay - It is a lovely resort, but it needs some maintenance. Painting in rooms, doors sticking and the pool has tiles falling off and pool chairs all need painting. The food was fantastic though which really made the stay. We had half board which was breakfast and dinner and both were great, we even got a bottle of wine included with dinner.
- SG_Stuff (6/5): A little old, tired looking hotel - The main building we stayed in, which also houses the restaurant, is badly in need of maintenancence. There is mould marking in the ceiling that you can see while sitting inside the restaurant. The door into the building looks old, cracked, and peeling; the door handle looks like something you do not want to touch. The garden gate / door of the ground floor rooms are all cracked and just looked bad from outside. The pool is missing more than a couple of tiles. We had local food for breakfast —Singapore noodles and Sarawak Laksa. It was really BAD! It was my first time in Kuching, and had I have the best Sarawak Laksa in Choon Hui Cafe, it would have put me off this dish forever. It tasted like water mixed with curry powder, and added some noodles with small dried tofu. For a supposed 5-stars luxurious hotel, it is NOT. The real saving grace of all is the staff! They were absolutely fabulous.

The breakfast, lunch, and dinner were amazing, and I really appreciate the room upgrade. The staff were wonderful and I'll definitely be back! The bar closed too early, so I spent the rest of the night watching movies instead. It would be great if the bar could stay open a little longer for guests to unwind at night, particularly on weekends when the weather is pleasant.

- ZainSami (10/5): Fabulous secluded hotel - Booked the hotel via Luxury Escapes which was a great full board offer. Lovely quaint hotel which is secluded from the main hustle and bustle. Rooms are very spacious and quirky being situated over mangroves. You can hear all sort of animals during the night. The pool was really nice and quiet. Most of the time we had the pool to ourselves. We would have loved to have gone to the beach but apparently it was deemed unsafe. Food at the restaurant was extremely tasty. Staff were very helpful and attentive. My only gripe is time taken to get your food. As a family of six, when we ordered drinks, it would take 15 mins to get 2 drinks, and the others followed 10 mins later. Same with food; timing was very inconsistent and the wait would be long. I could hear other guests complaining about time taken.

We stayed in a mangrove view suite and the bathroom was incredible - never thought we would enjoy so many hot baths in such a hot country! The room was stunning, the grounds were peaceful with a beatiful infinity pool overlooking the ocean. We found all the staff to be excellent, not unstrusive at all but we never lacked for anything. Honestly this was the perfect place to spoil ourselves and relax without being disturbed.

Quiet, beautiful view of the sea, and nothing else but pampered solitude - all perfect for a time to relax, eat and chill. Beautiful property in a romantic setting of the sea, and against the backdrop of the mountain. Just beautiful.
- NottinghamGeranium (10/5): Outstanding - This hotel is outstanding. If you want to totally relax then this is a must! We were lucky enough to have the villa number 25 with our own infinity pool. The room was very spacious and the bathroom was huge. The cleaners were really great and kept it immaculately clean during our stay. Rather oddly, I absolutely loved the bedding and particularly the pillows that I’m now trying to source from the UK! This hotel is very minimalist and that’s one of the things that made it so relaxing. The walls were white and bare and no fussy gardens with lots of people around all the time. The hotel is miles from anywhere so you have to eat in the restaurant, but that was definitely a positive! A wide and varied menu of both local and western dishes. We ate local food and it was absolutely delicious. Qim and her team in the restaurant were faultless. We always got a warm welcome and they remembered what type of drink we wanted in the morning as well. We enjoyed happy hour by the swimming pool and the cocktails were excellent. The swimming pool itself is exceptional: a beautiful infinity pool with amazing views and shaded seating made it just perfect. I used the gym every day, which was great as well. Maybe could do with another running machine but that is really picking holes! There were yoga mats provided and you could take them to your room. We would like to thank ALL the staff for a fantastic stay- didn’t want to leave!

Not that we didn’t like the property but being such a remote resort it was extremely expensive..

The resort hotel has a great setting with views of Mount Santubong and the South China Sea. Our villa is set in the tranquility of the mangroves. The pool is built on a deck over the water. It is rather hot as there are no trees and therefore no shade.

Staff outstanding,so professional and friendly. Nothing too much trouble, they always go the extra mile. Restaurant is so welcoming ,food superb. Excellent choice of dishes.. We are lucky we have travelled alot and stayed in fabulous hotels but the food here stands out , every meal delicious, presented beautifully. We had afternoon tea on our sun deck, so memorable. We can't thank the staff enough for making it a holiday of a lifetime. Make sure you book wetlands wildlife excursions. We saw monkeys, dolphins and crocodiles . We also went to Semenggoh Orangutan Park, amazing trip. We enjoyed golf at Danai golf course, fantastic ocean views. Room service a must ,a evening to have dinner served on your deck as the sunsets. Perfect holiday

If you like peace and quiet and a fabulous view with a massive pool then you have found the right place. First two night we were in a garden room which was lovely and then when we returned they upgraded us to a mangrove villa which was exceptional. I hope one day I can do back

The room was very spacious, tastefully decorated, clean and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was huge and we also had a big balcony where you can lounge in. We had dinner at the hotel and we were happy with it.

Breakfast was excellent however selection of drinks are limited. Room given was too far, we had so many bags to carry with an infant as well. Restaurant was unable to dine in when we checked in without prior notice. No lifts or elevators for us with a toddler pram to carry up and down the stairs.
- Nph (8/5): Very good - We booked 1 unit 2 bedroom villa , 1 unit of 1 bedroom villa and 1 cove garden room. The manager is very kind to upgrade the Cove garden to 1 bedroom Villa. Much appreciated for the kind gesture. Also since the villa is near mangrove, it will be great to provide insect repellant spray for body.. in this way the guest will feel the thoughtfulness of the hotel to provide this. Small matter do count. And mini bar snacks and non- alchohol drinks should be complimentary since this hotel is so far away from town. Guest will feel more welcome and happy for the thoughtful gesture. Breakfast normal and less variety for the price we pay but since we not fussy eater so okay. Once reached the reception, we dont feel the welcome from staff. One of the staff requested us to give IC or passport upon check in for all residence. Most unprepared to bring along their ICs since they are local. Please inform before hand prior to our arrival via whatsapp so we all can prepare to bring along IC or a photo of IC for convenience sake.

Sea view pool was awesome. The food was simply delicious. Can't rate this place high enough. This resort is secluded, but perfect for a relaxing getaway. The resort arrange transport to the Orangutan Reserve, cultural Village and our River cruise. All of which I would highly recommend.

We made great use of the pool which overlooked the bay and had a pool bar to enjoy a cocktail at as well. The food too was amazing for both breakfast and dinner, and had enough options for our fussy kids to chose from. The staff were super friendly and very helpful. I would stay here again for sure. If you want to be near the bustle of the city, then this location will not be for you, as it's 40 min from Kuching centre.

- scotfitzgerald (8/5): Relaxing stay with confusing accounting - Excellent place to stay if you want to chill and relax but a bit remote. The hotel states that there is free local transport available which we didn't use. The food was also excellent very good quality apart from cold eggs. I had the English type breakfast and my wife had benedict. In both cases the eggs were cold. The second day I ordered egg benedict stipulating that I wanted warm eggs which I got. The pool bar attendant pointed out that it was happy hour so we ordered beer and a cocktail. We were disuaded from paying cash. Fortunately we discovered that the promotion only applied to certain beers and cocktails without running up an enormous bill. A 200rm deposit is required at checkin. On checkout bizarrely the 200rm was added to our bill increasing the total owed. But you will get that back they explained. After some debate we did resolve the matter but I fear that we would not have received the deposit back without presenting the reciept so be warned.

Bar staff at the pool super friendly and helpful. I had a 3 course dinner included in my stay which had many options to choose from. The Sarawak laksa was the best I've had. Room was so clean and with great light, comfy bed, cold fridge and balcony looking out to the gardens and pool. Would love to come back again! Staff booked me a car back to airport as Hotel was a little too far out to get a Grab. Very helpful! Nothing bad to say! everything was perfect.

- 940michellep (8/5): Great if you're looking for a secluded get away. - Cove 55 is a nice secluded boutique resort from Kuching. Location: not convenient location, about 35min from the city center, but you can easily fetch a Maxim to get around. Secluded & pretty isolated. Beachfront but no beach access due to rocky coast & croccodiles. Food: excellent for breakfast & dinner. We didn't try lunch here. There is only 1 restaurant, but the food tasted amazing, full of flavor! However, dinner was not cheap in comparison to the food you can buy at a restaurant in the city. Drinks: Fail. The main bartender skinny guy was not friendly at all. They could not make any specialty cocktails listed on their menu due to "not having some ingredients." Cocktails were not strong & he wouldn't let you swap simple things like switching lime juice with orange juice. Room: average. The hot water was not always hot, not a lot of lighting, no TV, & the day bed/seating area was moldy. Bed was comfortable, robes, slippers, toiletries, & a nespresso provided. Pool: 1 infinity pool facing the ocean and adjacent to mangroves. Had great views, day beds, & lounge chairs. Staff: everyone except the main bartender was super friendly, kind, & so helpful. Can't complain other than the unhappy bartender who doesn't even know how to make a drink. Overall, I'm rating it a 4 because of location, the poor bar service, & would like some minor improvements like TV in room, consistent hot water, & clean up moldy areas (I know it's humid all the time but still).

Accommodation was stylish and comfortable, food was delicious, and staff were very helpful. We had to rely on hotel transport to Bako.

It s beautiful, the location, the pool…The rooms are huge, luxurious with everything you need inside…but most of all it s the service who is exceptional, everyone is helpful and everything is made to makes you feel like a prince or princess. The food in the restaurant and for the breakfast was also really above expectations. Very often we are disappointed by food in resorts as it s expensive but has nothing special. Here it s simple but really well done, everything is fresh with real cooks. Hope I can come again! Nothing

- Overtg (10/5): Wonderful stay - We had a wonderful stay at the hotel and highly recommend it. We stayed both in the Mango Forest and a beach villa (what a view), and both were excellent. The service and staff were very welcoming and professional, and the prices for food and drinks were reasonable. Additionally, the hotel offered a free car service to take guests around the area. Two areas for improvement: • Laundry service was to not very good! • Lack of variety in the food – perhaps a themed menu or daily specials could be introduced. We will definitely return!

Within five minutes of our arrival we saw a pair of sea eagles and a collared Kingfisher. The restaurant had a great range of options, cooked to a high standard and the staff were very friendly. The room was large and airy with a decent balcony. My only issue is with the glass doors on the toilet and shower. No one wants to have to send their other half onto the balcony so they can use the toilet in peace. No need for this and it seems to be a trend at many beach resort type hotels :( I also highly recommend the wildlife river cruise . Overall we had a fantastic stay at Cove 55.
- mornaw2016 (10/5): A truly wonderful 5 days in every way at the beautiful and hospitable Cove 55 - Our family of 7 stayed at Cove 55 ( our second visit in 6 years) as we were attending the Rain forest World Music Festival 2024. It is an oasis of calm and pleasure. The hotel has thought of everything one would need during a stay . The food is excellent and the staff attentive, helpful and thoughtful. The reception staff particularly Sandra is very professional, warm and made our stay extra special.. The rooms are very comfortable and clean . The pool ....well what can I say. It is large and a perfect place to relax and exercise , enjoying poolside refreshment looking out at the beautiful view of Bako National Park. We all loved it and it was hard to leave it behind and head back to winter in Australia. I would highly recommend a stay at Cove 55. There is nothing that I could suggest to make it a better experience. Thank you to all the staff ! We will return !
