- Joseph (10/5): - Very attentive service and gourmet meals. A quiet hotel with a spacious room that hosted my wife, myself, and our 2 young adult children with sufficient privacy. The private onsen was spectacular, as was the little protected outdoor deck.

The staff was beyond kind and accommodating, lovely to be around, and ensured we had the perfect stay. Our room was stunning -- the perfect retreat after many days in Tokyo. The food was also just excellent, and will be remembered for years to come. I could not recommend this place more!!

The staff could not have been nicer and helpful. The facility was traditional as listed and we thought it was perfect. The dinner and breakfast sets were absolutely amazing.

- Jason (10/5): - What an outstanding experience, this was definitely the highlight of my Japan trip. We booked the Asama room, which had three beds, a semi-open onsen, and an amazing view of the mountains. Notging beats waking up on the morning, and just staring in awe at the beautiful scenary from your bedside. The neals were extremely filling and delicious. Kaiseki for dinner had 8 courses and breakfast had various small dishes, seafood, rice and dessert. Staff members were very polite, friendly and always willing to answer your questions. Couldnt get enough of the onsen so I tried both our in-suite and the private one you can book for 40mins, both were fantastic.

- Kevin (10/5): A Memorable Experience - From start to finish, our experience was spectacular. We were picked up at a bus stop by one of the staff members, who was attentive to us for the whole duration of the trip. While we waited in the lobby, we were served a soothing cup of delicious green tea that warmed our bodies. Upon entering our room in the main house, we were dazzled by our in-room onsen, and the breathtaking mountain view right outside our windows. Our dinner that night consisted of several courses that gave us a taste of high-quality and delicious Japanese cuisine. My husband and I were refreshed and well-rested from the inside out by the end of the trip. We will most definitely be returning when we make our way back to Japan in the future! Look no further for a high-quality ryokan.

The meals were “out of this world” scrumptious and unique to Japan salmon, tuna, barracuda, etc). The staff were kind and gracious (and busy). This place is a gem! If I ever find my way back to this area, I will definitely return!
- Ching-Fen (10/5): 餐飲內容平實,其他則都符合期待 - 入口隱密,一開始誤入別館大門找不到接待櫃台,後來才發現入口處,空間安靜私密,接待人員服務親切周到,接待區及房間視野都面太平洋,日間風景佳,房間泉質純泡完膚質滑順.備品為ACCA KAPPA品牌,冰箱除了兩瓶冰水還有預先泡好的冰茶,電視為連網電視非常方便,房內盥洗水槽是少見的全實木製,相當有價值感;用餐空間都是獨立的包廂,雖無隔音但包廂用餐較為自在,唯餐飲內容原以為標榜"料理宿"所以會有驚豔的表現,但實際上就是平實的表現,除此之外,整體都符合期待!

- Andrew (10/5): - We spent 16 days in Japan staying at a number of hotels and two ryokans. Off everything we we, this hotel/ryokan was bar far the best thing we did. We stayed in the annex in the specisal Kintoki room. The decor was superb as was the service. We especially loved our own private onsen. I have read some other viewes complaing about the late check-in 3pm and the food. Im not sure what they expect. 3pm is the standard check in at most hotels and they dont keep that a secret. We had a 9 course meal in our room and we thought it was excellent. The presentation was incredible as was the service. The food is delicate and super fresh, based on seasonal produce. I didnt go they were some over the top curry so have no complaints. The staff we found were also very good.Super polite and nothing was too hard.

- Bryan (10/5): - I can easily rate this experience 10/10 and it was worth every penny. From head to toe, the service was impeccable and worthy of praise. The staff was able to communicate in English so this was a great help. First off, ryokan is situated about 5-10 minutes drive away from one of the local stops in Hakone, which also included a vehicle transfer from the station. Upon reaching the ryokan, we were greeted with an immaculate view of the surrounding mountains. They had some of the best beer on tap, I believe it was the Shiro Honoka Beer by Sapporo. Cleanliness was very good, and the food was exceptional as it had some of the freshest ingredients that I had tasted. The highlight was the private onsen in the bathroom, which included a view of the mountain as well.

My only issue was that the onsen in our room was starting to show its age but was easy to ignore once you felt the water. It was a very good experience overall.

- Jackson (10/5): A Mountain Oasis fit for a shogun emperor - The hotel was a bit off the beaten path, but the amenities were excellent. It's not the type of location where you can easily walk into town or explore Hakone. But, once you get settled, you might not even need to leave! Our room had an amazing view, incredible wood tub, and great beds. There were other people staying in the hotel but we couldn't hear them or notice anyone else so it felt very private. We arrived two hours before check in and they were not able to accommodate an early check-in which was okay. They drove us down to the town center and we saw some museums before heading back. the private dinner was expensive, but very excellent. And the breakfast was outstanding. We got to eat with a great view of the mountains. And the staff was very attentive and accommodating to all our needs.

They also offers rooms with private bath - which is the one we chose. The whole stay - from the pick up at Odawara station to the drop off at the end - felt personalized and so so relaxing. The whole design of the property, the room, and the service was beautiful, thoughtful, and makes you feel as if you are the only person around. The kaiseki meal and the traditional breakfast were amazing! Top 3 best meals we had on our trip (2 of which were in michelin restaurants). Highly, highly recommend!

They allowed us to rest a bit in a serene setting and provided wine and treats. Once we got into our room, it's cleanliness and detail were stellar. The private hot spring tub - made of traditional Japanese room - was already stoked and inviting. Our meals were provided in a traditional setting; it was a private room as well. We were served by Mr. Adachi in a relaxed pace while he explained each meal. The cuisine was superb. The "ryokan" has only ten rooms so all our needs were immediately catered to. Strongly recommended.

- Verified traveler (10/5): Great place to stay when in Hakone - We had a great stay at the Ryokan. We stayed here for two nights. The highlights for us were the deep soaking hot spring bathtub and the food during the breakfast and dinner service. This is the second stay at a Ryokan for us (first time was another ryokan) and we just love the service and attention to detail. In terms of location, this is further from Hakone Yumoto station, so you will need to take the Hakone Tozan Line and get off at Chokokunomori station where they offer a free pickup if you come between certain times. But if you are late like we were, it is out of their service time for pickup. We had some trouble getting a taxi even at 6 pm and after reaching the Ryokan there was no one at the front desk (since small number of people operate it). That aside we had a wonderful time.

- SAWA (4/5): サービスの質の低下がひどかった - お迎えをお願いする電話を言われたとおりに、箱根湯本からかけていたのに、一時間間違えていたといって迎えの車はなく、電話して迎えにきてもらいました。システムが変わったらしく、特定の担当の方によるサービスではなくなり、プライベートな感じはなくなり、他のお客様にも前よりよく遭遇しました。大きな声で従業員の方同志が話す声や笑い声が廊下に響きわたってひどいものでした。お土産をたのんで清算の時に一緒にといっていたのにそれも忘れてしまう始末。謝り方も訓練されていない感じで本当にひどいサービスでした。
- Cassandra (10/5): Worth its weight in gold! - Do yourself a favor and book NOW! It is so beautiful and calming. We got a king room with a hot spring bath on the balcony and it was the highlight of our trip. It included dinner and breakfast. Dinner was 7 courses and was so artfully prepared. Everything was delicious! The “pink sake” is a must! They have insence in the halls and beautiful music in the dining area. The dinning area are these private rooms with sliding doors. Try to do a little research on the customs of a ryokan. Everyone was very nice and understanding of any mistakes we made but it helps for a smooth experience to have a little knowledge. Also their beauty products; face, hair, body are AMAZKNG! My hair has never been so shiny!! We would go back to Japan JUST to stay here again.
- Craig (10/5): - The best kaisek meal we had in Japan and one of the best meals of my life! Our room was perfect, like a mini suite with separate living room area, fantastic view of the hill side, naturally feed onsen tub in room (also with a great view). The service was superb! Although the hotel is not far from the train station 1.7 KM, its located on the slope of steep mountain, trust me you really don't want to walk this with your luggage. Make sure you arrive in Hakone before 5:30 to take advantage of the hotel shuttle. We arrived at 6:00 PM and walked from the train station in the dark and ended up lost! I was able to flag a local down and ask for directions. Although he spoke little English and we spoke even less Japanese he figured out where are destination was and offered to walk us to the location. He guided us for 15 minutes and took us straight to the hotel. I offered him money as a thank you but he refused to accept it. What a wonderful human being ..I will pay it forward if I can ever help a weary traveler in my country. I digress but thought it important to talk about the kind of people we encountered. Bottom line, an amazing stay at Ryori Yado Kyuan!

Please be sure to contact the hotel to be picked up from Cho-ku-nomori Station. They were so accommodating & the food was exquisite (we are vegetarian but had not informed in advance, so for dietary requirements definitely let them know). Our room itself had beautiful views, the private onsen was perfect & the room also had a massage chair - all of which was used extensively!

- Verified traveler (8/5): Great hotel with excellent foods - I and husband stayed this Japanese style hotel for the first time. As hotel advertise, foods are excellent and responded based on individual requests. Basically their service is based on individual customer needs and quality is really great. However, we had to ask few times to get refill razor. Also, bedroom's beds' light is too bright and no sleeping light. So we had to sleep in the dark room despite there is steep stairs. It would be better that if nicer darker small lights are placed on the bed heads. Having said this, overall, we love this hotel and would like to come back in near future.
- Alexa (8/5): Peaceful hotel in Hakone - The hot spring to the room really can't be beat and the staff is impeccable. The facilities are clean and in every way a traditional ryokan. The only detractor is that it is not located particularly close to any towns/museums and getting down the hill is a bit of a challenge. The staff tries to mitigate this by providing transportation when possible (though are unable to do so during heavy snow, as we found out). Otherwise, very relaxing!
