Guest Reviews
- Aaron (2/5): - There are bed bugs.
- James (2/5): - One overworked housekeeper. Dirt on the floor. No blanket. Just a sheet and a dirty comforter. No hot water. Pool was pictured, but in reality had four feet of green water. It was the poorest Orbitz sponsored hotel I have ever stayed at.
- Mary Schleicher (4/5): Not the best place to stay. I would not stay again - The room had a musty smell to it. The sheets on the beds were just a flat sheet and not a fitted sheet. If they vacuumed it wasnt good job. I found a chain on the floor and if they vacuumed they would of found it. Fridges could used a wiped out. Just overall just small things could of cleaned things much better. No coffee maker in room. Beds could be alot better mattresses. Needs an a big update.
- Corinna (10/5): - Very friendly. Old place but remodeled and clean.
- James (4/5): - Would not have booked had I known of the condition of the rooms arrived at 3 pm with sigb on the looby door closed until 3 and no one showed up until 3:30.
Romns were dated and thrad bare. Would never recommend to anyone.
- Michael (10/5): - Check in was quick and easy. Property is a bit dated, but rooms were clean and comfortable. Staff was very nice. Would stay again.
- Sarah (2/5): Horrible - I am extremely disappointed about this hotel. I arrived in on a flight at 10:30 PM. Drove directly to the airport and there was no one to check me in. I had prepaid for my room.
I have received no refund.
I definitely do not recommend this hotel.
It also is in a very sketchy area.
- Xin (2/5): - bad
- Mobile62118828811 (2/5): mentioned above - it didn't compare to pictures, looked like a weekly/monthly rental. Door was open when arrived, shower handle fell off. Very shady area. Cut stay short, slept in car with pistol available.
- Elmer (8/5): - I think there was bed lice. We both woke up next morning being bitten
- Art (2/5): - already shared, door open on arrival, shower handle fell off, slept in car with pistol. it was one of those places that probably get rented out weekly.
- Patrick (6/5): - This is no frills, clean and convenient to down town but don't expect anything special.
- Kristi (6/5): - The site said check in was 4, which usually means not before then. We showed up at 5 and the office was locked with a sign about calling. Another customer and I both called and noone answered. After about15minutes a staff person came out and found our key in the mailbox. Weird system and we knew nothing about it. Supposedly they called me, but I had no calls. It is an older hotel, run down on the outside. It seemed clean on the inside, but I did find some whiskers on the bathroom faucet, otherwise good. Bed is way too soft.
- Melody (2/5): - Unfortunately found a bed bug on my bed.
- Kim (10/5): Happy - Absolutely perfect. Got the small family room and it fit all of us not problem. Clean
- Michael (8/5): - Standard motel. Rooms are well-maintained and generally clean. WiFi worked. It was quiet. But there is rarely (or never?) anyone at the front desk. Cleaning staff is there cleaning in the morning and late afternoon. No real problems. Would stay again if there in Rapid City.
- Megan (10/5): Convenient downtown location - Arrived late but was able to get a late check in by calling ahead. Hotel is definitely old with some real wear. However everything was clean and the location was great.
- Amy (2/5): - We were not able to check in. It appeared that no one was at the hotel, management or occupants. When we looked online for the phone number it said permanently closed. We called the number 3 times. They finally returned the call after we had checked into another hotel. They said they were going to cancel our room. Now they’re charging us for one night.
- David (10/5): - The property was quiet. TV was set up for over the air channels only. Moved the antenna away from the wall and reception was fine. I'd stay here again and recommend to friends and family.
- James (6/5): Nice affordable room near downtown - No perks, but it suited my needs.
- Magdalena (8/5): Perfect stop - I picked this hotel because it’s a perfect location for Work. It’s eight minutes from where I need to be. All I need is a bed in the shower and that’s what works for me.
- Magdalena (10/5): - Overall I got here at 7:30 pm and leaving at 6:30 am, it’s a quick stop and go. Need a clean bed and shower. That’s good enough for me
- Aaron (2/5): - When checking in had to call on the phone no one at the front desk, 1st room they checked me into had stuff in, 2nd room TV didn’t work, cigarettes under the bed, and I don’t smoke, and smell from room spray was overpowering, not happy with the stay, would like to be REFUNDED.
- Lee (10/5): - Loved location and price. Don’t like ice situation
- Rosanne (6/5): - This is an older property. The rooms have actual keys. The photos of the common area were deceptive, such as the breakfast area that does not exist. The attendant that checked us in asked if we like coffee and brought a coffee pot and full sized coffee packets to our room. The room had the lowest toilet that I have ever seen. It took al long time for the water to get hot. We chose this Motel as it was reasonably priced and was a short walk to downtown businesses. Great to not have to drive for dinner after a long day exploring the "Hills."
- Debra (8/5): - Pool not open
- Darlene (4/5): - Shower curtain was laying in the bath tub, the curtain rod came off and there was no hot water. Maintenance came to fix the curtain rod
but it was not put on correctly. Noise from the guests in the room above us
When we went to leave at 8.30pm, the office was closed
- Gail (6/5): - Hot shower. Clean sheets. Low price.
- John (10/5): - It was very nice
- Kingsley (6/5): - Convenient to main roads.
I didn’t appreciate motorcycles purposely Erving engines and parting late with other guests.
- Raul (2/5): - Main door closes at 5 & don’t know when it opens as I left by 6:30 am. The AC did NOT work at all. There wasn’t even cups to get a drink. Had to use my hands.
At 11:30 pm someone was intentionally blaring music outside my door. I feel they were hoping I would open the door. There was loud conversation going through at least 12:30 am when I finally dozed off. I was up at 6 & out of there by 6:30. This motel should NOT be recommended by you guys.
- Stephan (2/5): - Room 115 had black mold. Got moved to 215. No one ever came to pick up garbage, make beds, or replace towels. Was there six days. Even asked desk staff. WIFI was spotty at best.
- Craig (2/5): - When we arrived there was noone at the desk and we had to make a call and wait 15 mins. Once in the mediocre room the shower didnt work. So we were given another room. In that room the a/c acted up and set off the smoke alarm.
- Robinetta (4/5): - Pool closed,poor Wi-Fi.
- Sheila (2/5): Bad Air Conditioning - When we arrived at the motel, it was late afternoon. Even though the air conditioner was running, it was warm in the room. We left for a couple of hours and when we returned, it seemed as hot, if not hotter than when we left. We were told there was nothing that could be done. The air conditioner was running as well as it could. We had to check out and find another hotel due to medical conditions (asthma).
- Donald (2/5): - Hotel should be torn down. Air conditioning worked off and on. Hole in carpet was covered with a throw rug. Bathroom plumbing need to be fixed. All of this was in the second room we requested, the first room was worse.
- Leland (4/5): Kind of a mess….. - Our room had a 1’x1’ hole in the carpet that was covered by a rug. The wall had a hole in the wall that was covered up by an unpainted piece of sheet rock. The AC worked, but was not really that cool. Not the best nights sleep ever.
- Simon (2/5): - Nadie estaba ahí en la oficina cuando llegué estaba cerrado no pude agarrar el cuarto
- Kathy (4/5): - Room smelled due to antiquated window AC unit not functiong properly. Bathtub caulking needs replaced.
- Melvin (2/5): - The room seem to recently be redone. Had 5 to 6 flies in it, but the main thing about it was is the sheets and the comforter had spots in them. Sure, I wanted to sleep there bedbugs I turn the key in within a half an hour after getting there, and I know it was nonrefundable had to go find another room Young lady at the desk was very nice. Just not a place. I recommend that your Expedia customers use should be refunded, but I chose to leave.
- lisa (6/5): - Bathtub faucet was falling off, TV did not work correctly, tiny flies/gnats in bathroom sink, beds were squeaky,
- Mark (8/5): Always Reliable - I like the Town House and have stayed there multiple times for one night stays. It's simple, clean and does the job and, for one night, is perfect for my needs. The only drawback is that there is no complimentary breakfast or even an open reception on Sundays which, unfortunately for me, is when I tend to be there. Otherwise no problems.
- Tammy (6/5): Not a bad stay! - It is what you would expect from a typical motel. A bit run down. Cigarette burn mark in floor in bathroom, no shower liner, towels were great, bed was comfortable, fridge worked well, gap between door and outside which allowed more hot air than I would like to come in. Air conditioner in first assigned room didnt work so went to another room and worked well. Parking was good and didn't feel unsafe at all as a single female traveller. Check-in clerk was very friendly and gave me a coupon for a local restaurant which I used and was fabulous. I would stay there again no problem.
- Faith (8/5): Nice but smells - The desk gal was friendly. The pool had no water and was closed the room was sufficient, but has a mildew smell. The cleaning agents need to be replaced with something that kills mildew and adds a clean fragrance.
- Danny (6/5): - Air conditioner loud and didn’t do good job. Otherwise place was ok
- Linda (2/5): - The staff was nice. The room was poor. Lots of flies. Lots of black bugs in all spaces.. No bathroom door, No coffee pot. The pool was closed indefinitely. AC was cool but very loud.. Not the best area but was next to police station..
- Vicki (6/5): - The desk person was best part of the stay. She was very welcoming and helpful. The motel is quite run-down and could use a lot of updating including new mattresses
- Verified traveler (10/5): Low Frills, Good Deal - First, the staff at the hotel are great. I had a problem on my room at first and they made it right quickly and didnt make me feel like it was an inconvenience. They were friendly and helpful.
The room itself was nice. Perhaps a little outdated, but clean and in good condition. It was convenient to shopping and restaurants. It is close to a busy area and so there were traffic sounds, sometimes at night.
Overall good hotel. There are other, big chain, fancy, and probably way more expensive hotels in the area. This hotel was a good deal for the price. Low frills, but no complaints.
- Dianna (2/5): - We made reservations online with plenty of time to arrive before the office closed. Office was locked tight. Knocked on door no answer, called two numbers no reply. Had to go somewhere else for the night.
- julie (6/5): one night stat - Staff was really nice, rooms were clean but in poor repair. Our room had a piece of carpet cut out and a rubber mat thrown over it. Bath was stained badly. Comforter was ripped in a couple places. Pool was empty. Nice room for continental brkfst but only coffee pot with pretty rank tasting coffee.
- Daniel (6/5): - Cold shower and tv didn’t work but staff was helpful
- Heidi (8/5): - I was impressed by how clean it was! Outdated, yes but it felt clean! Staff called me to ask what time I planned on checking in. I didn’t arrive until like 3 hours after that. They texted and told me where to find the key and code and that was fine with me! I have no complaints!
- doug (10/5): - great location downtown and the room was spotless
- Brigetta (4/5): - Website said they had shuttle service to the airport and they didn’t had no wash cloth for shower website said a free breakfast and they only had coffee. However the attendant helped me with my luggage made sure the air conditioning worked in my room and gave me the number for a taxi but I had to ask
- Una (10/5): - Nothing fancy, but very clean and staff was very helpful and nice. I would stay again.
- Christie (4/5): Not even worth what we paid (which was not much) - Our check-in was fine. Lady at the front desk offered suggestions for dinner and gave us a coupon for a half price appetizer. But this hotel is a dump. The “family room”, although having enough room to sleep 5, needs major updates - one lamp didn’t work, no overhead lighting, the other lamp was a dim yellow color. Do not trust the pictures online - may have been taken when it was first built. Oh…had to run to Walmart at 10 pm and buy a box fan because the AC was broken and it was hotter in the room then it was outside!
- Jessie (6/5): - The lady that checked us in was very helpful.
- Robert (6/5): - No washcloths were provided. The A/C unit was up too high , I had to stand on a chair to access it. The tv selections were lousy, and the WiFi was almost worthless. The people in the office were very nice and friendly.
- Gail His (8/5): - Good stay
- JOYCE (2/5): - You get what you pay for
- Joseph (8/5): Location, Location, Location! - Good location close to downtown Rapid City and the Monument Convention Center.
Without a car, this made the Towne House
Motel an easy choice.
- Richard (2/5): - The rooms were not all that clean. I tried to cancel the last nights room through Orbitz the booking outfit, they keep telling me they couldn't get a hold of the property, the people on the property, so they see nothing that always tried to get a hold of them. So Orbitz contacts me again by email tells me they still couldn't get a hold of the property so they had to charge me full price for that last night. Will not use another booking agency for any hotel again they're all rip offs. And maybe the properties they deal with.
- Janel (8/5): - Perfectly nice place and great value. Rooms clean, large, and comfy beds. Cassie at front very nice. Area a little sketchy but we had no issues. Short walk to restaurants and music. Downside - pool unusable. And couldn't locate any ice.
- Timothy (10/5): - Friendly staff at check-in. Room clean. Got a great recommendation for a nearby restaurant for dinner with a coupon for half off on an appetizer.
- Christine (2/5): - Was okay for the price paid for both night at the desk and was charged but when we checked out they charged our cards again for more after Check out
- Donna (8/5): - It was an older property but clean and comfortable.
- David (10/5): - Great location in downtown Rapid City.
- Evelyn (4/5): - Room had a smell. Bed was not comfortable. Carpet was dirt.
- Gary (10/5): - Visited this site during a motorcycle trip with friends. Loved being able to park my bike outside of my room where I could see it. Easy walk to restaurants and bars. Great value for money. Staff member Cassie was excellent and very helpful. Rooms are dated but very clean. Would definitely stay there again.
- Evan (6/5): Decent budget option. - A decent budget option. The mattress was too soft for my taste. Also there a train that goes by throughout the night that was quite noisy, although my wife slept through it.
- sherry (2/5): - We did not stay here ..did not look safe and lady at desk had us wait to check to see if room had hot water ..guest that came in suggested we find someway else to stay so we did.
- Daniel (4/5): - Very little water pressure. About a 1 to 2 inch gape on door. You hear footsteps from the people above you. No cable. Staff was very nice.
- MORGAN (6/5): - This Motel was advertised to have a continental breakfast, but didn’t. There was often no hot water. Older facility that is in need a full remodeling.
- Sharon (4/5): - Carpet was very dirty. Only 1 outlet near beds. The other was a power strip that was shared with the TV & just hanging there. Cigarette burns in one of the blankets. No bedspread. Just sheet & 1 blanket. TV remote did not go with our TV. Staff was extremely helpful & brought a couple other remotes & tried to sync them. Finally gave up & we had to manually turn TV off & on, and change channels. Volume did not work. We had to put a magazine under the table leg to keep it from falling over. Had to hold the handle down for quite a while to get toilet to flush. Hot water ran out before shower was finished.
On the upside the staff was extremely helpful, the area seemed very safe & it was easy to get to & from freeway.
- Donna (4/5): - The staff were friendly and helpful. There were so many dogs there that there were fleas in the room we stayed in.
- AngelaMB12 (2/5): Outdated & mold! - Granted I only paid $80, but this was the worst hotel I've stayed at in America. We arrived at 3:04, the sign on the door said staff would return at 3. No one arrived till 3:25. The staff person was nice enough. The room was 70s decor, zero updates since the 70s. The sink didn't drain well, mold was in and round the tub, the shower rod and shower head were coming off wall, the AC didn't cool until about 8 hrs after being turned on, and the window curtain was a quarter of the way off the track. We didn't use the shower, nor sleep under the cover as the bed spread had stains. It was gross. The pool is advertised, but the first week of June and there wasn't even water in the pool. Glad we didn't intend to use it! The location was convenient to downtown Rapid City, only about a 4 block walk to restaurants and shops. Also, within the block was a coffee shop and ice cream/restaurant shop that was ok.
- Kim (8/5): - It is an old motel with reasonable price and very close to president walking tour.
- John (4/5): NO HOT WATER - We have been here three days. We have not had water for a hot shower yet. No breakfast as advertised. Hole in griund rather than a swimming pool. Breach of contract. The desk help and house keeping are no the problem - the management is letting the property fall apart.
- Angela (2/5): - Granted I only paid $80, but this was the worst hotel I've stayed at in America. We arrived at 3:04, the sign on the door said staff would return at 3. No one arrived till 3:25. - Jed (10/5): - Courteous
- Tamera (2/5): - No phones room was still dirty
- Cindy (10/5): - It was clean, up dated room, and staff was very friendly and helpful.
- Genevieve (8/5): - Only stayed there for night. Initially the room we were given smelled very strongly of cigars despite it being a non-smoking motel. The front desk was very nice though and gave us a new room. It's a very old motel and you can hear everything happening outside but luckily it was pretty quiet. Definitely heard all the sirens going by. The showerhead was very loose and chair was very stained and walls were plastic.
- Zeke (10/5): - Nice and clean. Front desk was really helpful. Thanks cassandra
- Anthony (10/5): - Great service from Cassandra
- Edward (8/5): - The staff was great! The bed awful with ridges and bumps.
- Iran (2/5): - Did not clean our room at all
- Julia (10/5): - Really great cheap option to stay at in Rapid City, still in walking distance to downtown. Clean rooms, staff was friendly, I had no issues.
- Elyssa (10/5): - We didn’t sleep the greatest due to the train going by and some one yelling out side our room, otherwise it was great
- Remi (10/5): - Great location
- Cherri (4/5): - Well, if they had food any kind of food potato chips, whatever would be good and not let a bunch of children use the pool that aren’t even staying here so the people that pay for the room can use it would be nice
- Paul (6/5): - Room 111 was clean, but tub filled with water while showering. Needed to turn water off in order to allow it to drain. Then rinse off to finish. TV in the room would lose signal repeatedly. Neither this room nor 112 had bedspreads, and were cooled with window-style A/C units.
- Paul (6/5): - Room 111 had a slow draining tub, so it would fill up while showering. You'd need to lather up and then shut water off, wait for it to drain, and quickly rinse off. The TV would lose signal every couple of minutes, and come back a moment later. Room 112 didn't have privacy curtains so people walking by could peek in, and the light from outside came in the room, which kept the room well lit all the way till morning. This room had thin walls or the ceiling between me the room above was too thin, because I had to listen to a couple gettin' it on for about a half hour. They had a really squeaky bed and weren't shy about the noise they were making. The TV was a "roku" enabled set that didn't have volume control, but apparently by pressing *, you had limited control over the noise level. It, too had connectivity issues with the wifi, or signal, as it would cut-out more than it would function. Lastly, the water wasn't warm enough to enjoy a hot shower. It was actually a bit cold. 112 could've been cleaner, with a dirty toilet and what looked like melted chocolate ice-cream on the furniture. So, to re-cap, thin walls, plumbing needs attention, no privacy, a bit on the dirty side, and both rooms might as well have not had tv's in them at all.
- Christine (6/5): - When I stayed, the property seemed to be in transition. It sounds like there is a new owner that means to redecorate and upgrade the place but hasn’t started doing all that yet.
Ok for my one night stay and affordable but not a place I would have wanted to be in longer term.
The young woman that checked me in was helpful and lovely and answered all my questions.
- Jean (8/5): - Gets the job done in terms of a place to shower and sleep. No real complaints apart from maybe in a sketchier part of town
- Janice (4/5): - The pillows and beds were comfortable but that was it. Room smelled, bedspread smelled, no place to put clothes except a closet that had a playpen in and it smelled. Limited outlets, small TV on the side of the room. Pounding during the night by the people in the room above us. Very expensive for what we got. Pictures on the website were misleading. Check was 3:00 and we got there at 20 to 3:00. Clerk made us wait until 3:00 while she sat behind the desk doing nothing. Lobby was not clean. Definitely not recommended!
- Vivian (8/5): Clean motel - The motel is clean. Good for overnight stay only.
- Karen (8/5): - Convenient to sight seeing
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Bugs. Overall feeling of dirty.
- David (10/5): - Convenient location
