Guest Reviews

- Francesca Pia (10/5): -

- Amina (10/5): Natura, silenzio e relax - Tutto meraviglioso, staff super gentile e accogliente.

- Allan (9/5): - Outstandingly friendly and helpful staff. We were here as a family group and they could not have been more supportive. Emilia speaks excellent English. Left nothing to chance. All requests were met promptly. Great service.
Beautiful location with a lovely pool and view over the bay.
Great food and drink.
Clear intructions on how to get there with a local shuttle. Helped organise transits. Nothing dprings to mind.
- Ian (9/5): Very enjoyable, charming place to stay, quiet, peaceful retreat yet close enough to Sant Angelo - Fabulous pool area, plenty of loungers and parasols and fantastic views. Very spacious room and nice terrace. Good breakfast. Lovely helpful staff. Pillows a little hard, kettle in room but no tea or milk provided just sachets of sugar so not sure what the point of that was. No price list for drinks ordered at the pool bar, had to ask how much everything was. Not good.
- Mariusz (10/5): Excellent place for holidays - I had a great stay at Villa Tara. It’s a really nice place with a beautiful view of the mountains from the pool. The location is perfect – away from the main road, very quiet and peaceful. The people who are managing this place, are extremely kind and always ready not only to give great tips, but also to help in any situation. A very nice option is that they pick you up with your luggage from the bus stop on arrival, and then drop you off again with your luggage at the end of your stay. It’s also very convenient that they have scooter and car rentals in the same place via other company. Overall, my stay was truly enjoyable, and I would definitely recommend this place. If I could suggest one thing to improve, it would be to enrich the breakfast selection, for example by adding more fresh vegetables or offering scrambled eggs.
- Aldo (10/5): Excellent hotel at a fantastic price but a little complicated. - Cleanliness Staff fantastic The hotel although a 20/30 minute walk from Sant Angelo a special small taxi/shuttle is required to get you to the front door of the hotel unless you are walking because the hotel location is down one of those exceptionally tight streets.
- Rabea (10/5): Great cozy place with amazing views! - Nice service, friendly staff! Great location!
- Kim (10/5): Superb stay in Ischia, at a fantastic location. - Exceptionally friendly host(s). Family run business, great facilities, beds and very nice breakfast for what you generally see in Italy. Also big personal plus is the espresso's in the morning. There's a fantastic restaurant basically around the corner (L'Osteria della Mamma), with superb regional wines. Some info:
- Medium/Hard beds, which I like;
- Very good water pressure;
- Hygiene was in order;
- Good pool amenities;
- Very helpful and friendly staff;
- Nice and quiet in the evening;
- Super close to Sant'Angelo;
- Easy scooter rental at the hotel.
- The main building is in old style (1500), but completely renovated. One of the prettiest hotels we've stayed in Italy;
- Free DEET at the reception (big plus, as mosquito's would devour me within a day) We've had a fantastic stay. An extra piece of luxury / personal addition would be a mosquitolamp for in the room, but I've never seen these at hotels /BnB's. Again though: DEET is freely available at the reception.
- Miriam Francesca (10/5): -
- Ian (10/5): - Have a bit of a steep walk through narrow lanes but the hotel will pick up and drop off - a little golf buggy would be ideal!
The bus to Ischia Port and St Angelo were brilliant. Everything was as described.
Staff were lovely and accommodating.
Cannit fault.
On reviendra Rien
Besonders lieben Dank an Emilia.

- Tetiana (9/5): Enjoyed our stay as family of 3 with 5 years old kid. Thank you Emilia for your hospitality. - Loved delicious home made food! Staff is friendly and helps with any requests. Property is maintained in very good condition. Amazing view from the pool side. Not much of a variety in breakfast buffet, but great options in a la carte menu.
- Daria (10/5): - Amazing views and comfort!
Lovely staff!
The restaurant and food were great too.
- Caven (7/5): Cute, farm style accommodation! Lovely people, nice location - Location was great, room was clean and tidy! The staff were very friendly! Lovely property, similar to a small farm or orchard. The property was looking a little tired. There were a couple of organized parties whilst we were staying there, but they didn’t affect us to much as we were out in the afternoons and evenings. During our stay there was maintenance/plastering outside our room which was happening in the morning around 9am.
- Megha (10/5): Hidden gem of a hotel for those seeking to visit Ishchia; full of character and magic! - This is a very special and unique hotel, which I was happy to discover. It feels very out of the way of the typical tourist areas, set within a more wild natural environment. The rooms are perfectly fine, simple and clean. The standout amenity is the gorgeous pool area, where we spent much of our time. Our wonderful hosts who manage the property also were excellent cooks and prepared delightful meals for us, which we enjoyed al fresco, while taking a break from swimming. The breakfast takes place inside in a lovely space full of character - I'd like the soundtrack to the breakfast buffet because it made me feel like a fabulous Italian lady from the 70s. It's quiet and very peaceful, yet also wonderful for children. I look forward to returning!
- Vicki (10/5): Lovely location, giving a true taste of Ischia. Very peaceful and everything we needed. Emilia was the perfect host, the - Lovely location, giving a true taste of Ischia. Very peaceful and everything we needed. Nothing not liked.
- Konstanci (8/5): Very good -
- David (10/5): - Villa Tara is an exceptional accommodation; a historic building with character and unique charm. Very beautiful surroundings in the middle of nature. Very quiet location, yet well developed. Restaurants and shops within walking distance. The perfect place to relax and get to know Succhivo, Sant Angelo, Panza and Forio. Warm and courteous hostess, the whole team very committed and friendly. Sinful sweets for breakfast….thank you all for a perfect stay, Anna&David
- Francesca (10/5): - Almost not accessible by car, hence approx. 500 meters to walk up and down the hills.
- Bridget (7/5): Good -
- James (10/5): Traveling Man - We arrive on April 7th on the ferry
The car rental man met us and drove us to to Tara, gave good info on the way
You really need your own vehicle to stay ..
Lots of space !! Pool and restaurant were closed for the season had. Not started yet
To cold for the pool !!!!
- Iryna (10/5): Highly recommended - If you are looking for a nook of tranquility, this is the place. A quiet and cosy atmosphere of the authentic rural area in the best part of the island.
The Villa combines grandeur, modern conveniences and a perfect location. The photos on the site reflect its charm.
You might only be a bit disappointed when visiting it in early spring ( the pool is not working and the territory doesn't look prepared for welcoming guests). I must admit that the info about the pool was available on the site, so we were aware of it in advance. Besides, the host is exceptionally quick to answer any questions either via booking or directly. Despite these remarks, the Villa, the orchard ( imagine the odour of blooming oranges in the air and an abundance of fruit under the trees ), and the host's efforts to make our stay comfortable deserve the highest score.
I will definitely stay here again👍
- Iryna (10/5): Highly Recommended - An incredible stay due to
the perfect location of the Villa,
its hospitable management ( many thanks to Emilia),
cosy, homelike atmosphere which, however, presupposes enough privacy,
a charming room with a Very comfortable bed,
a large territory with an orchard, a warm pool, and a lot of lounge zones.
Excellent breakfasts are definitely worth mentioning)
And Splendid Views!
- Křehlinka (10/5): Exceptional - The breakfast was amazing, fresh pastry every day, coffee was perfect. Plenty of fruits and vegetable. Delicious salami. All our requirements and wishes were fulfilled by Emilia (our host). The villa was very pleasant among the citrus orchard.
- András (10/5): Beautiful villa, friendly and helpful host, good breakfast, beautiful views. - The host was really helpful and friendly, the breakfast was delicious, and the whole villa was beautiful. It’s a little bit hard to reach if you are with a car due to the narrow street which brings you there, but if you are an experienced driver it shouldn’t be a problem, just make sure you are renting a really small or narrow car. :)
- Frederick (9/5): A relaxing, easy and convenient stay at a perfect location on Ischia island. - Staff were friendly and helpful, location was ideal (shops, beach and bus stop within walking distance), the Villa was authentic and peaceful with a gorgeous pool and view. The apartment was large, clean and perfect for a couple. The kitchen in the apartment was a little antiquated. However, we were still able to make plenty of meals without any problems.
- Jordan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stuart (8/5): Very good - The villa is nice, roomy, airy and open. Emilia is extremely helpful and considerate to the extent that she leant us one of her dresses due to our lost luggage problem.
Emilia has recently taken over management of the property and from discussion has a vision that will only improve the offer even more.
We ate there a couple of times after chatting with Emilia to discuss the options available on that day.
The local delicacy of rabbit was yummy, as was the seafood & pasta.
The pool area is set within the garden area with plenty of sun beds available and an outside bar.
It took us 4 minutes walk down a hill & up the other side to the bus stop which is exceptionally well served by buses going in either direction. There's also a drinkable water tap at the bus stop. We used it several times per day. Lovely fresh cool water. Although there was sufficient for breakfast and you could ask for a choice of eggs, fresh fruit options were limited and on occasion one of the pastry options was displayed in the plastic container they'd been bought in. This reduced the appeal of the pastry / cake display.
In the room there was a choice of teas but afraid no coffee on offer.
There is a discreetly run scooter rental area as part of the complex but separate from Emilia and the villa.
- Joanna (9/5): Authentic & Charming in Sant Angelo. - Very comfortable and homey. Wonderful staff, great location. Felt like staying at your Nonna's place in the country. Oh man, the stairs. Endless stairs. HOWEVER, we walked off the pasta.
- Maria (10/5): Great Place! - Beautiful place, very good to relax and extremely kind staff!
- Sergey (8/5): Overall a very nice place, we had a nice week here. Definitely not a great value for money, but for the peak season in I - Italian family owned property with a pleasant hosts. Authentic atmosphere. Beautiful, well-kept area with lots of greens. There is a small pool with the pool bar, serving drinks and simple snacks, nice music. Location is quite close to St.Angelo. It is possible to rent transport from the hosts (ex.: scooter 35 euros per day), boat tours also available. The kitchen in the loft-room is basically equipped for self catering. Huge number of towels. The hotel is located a bit far from the infrastructure and requires the personal transport to get anywhere. Some facilities in the room definitely require a renovation - the water from the shower flows into the kitchen, the faucet in the kitchen is leaking, the air conditioner at its minimum temperature cools the space very weakly. The staff speaks poor English, so be prepared for some lack of communication. There is no cleaning service in the room at all (only before check in). WI-FI in the room is really weak and disappears from time to time. There is a lack of some kitchen amenities - no kettle, no cork screw - can you imagine that in Italian property!), chef’s knife, etc. There are no any basic amenities - coffee/tea/olio/spices, etc. You always have to wear a swimming cup in the pool!))This is a very first time for me facing such a requirement in private hotel pool, moreover with only few guests) Breakfast is really basic, no options for the dinner in place. Imho, 250 euros per night is a bit pricey for such an accommodation overall, but this is Ferragosta time in Ischia;)
- Antonio (10/5): The perfect escape! - Lovely hosts and very good breakfast
- Sigrun (10/5): Wonderfull relaxing place - Mariella is so wonderful and a great host. She would drive us to the road when we went out in the evening. And all the staff were great. I would come here again. Be prepared to walk a little to the next town or restaurant. This is so homy and a great relaxing place to be. The room we had was big and with a terrace.
- Marc (5/5): Passable -
- Mia (7/5): Beautiful spot, but a bit out of the way and communication could be better. - Great pool and bar area. Good for relaxing, sun bathing and having a quiet drink. Mariella the host is very nice and approachable, as is the bartender Alessandro. Would love to not have to wear swimming caps in pool. Also communication was hard at times if you do not know Italian, as a lot of staff don’t speak english.
- Kevinkvist (7/5): Quite and beautiful location with the potential for more. - The location of this hotel is really nice. and the nearby beach of "Spiaggia di Cava Grado" is really beautiful.
Nice pool with thermic heated water (Mid summer with 35 degrees it was a bit too heated)
Friendly staff, yet they do speak almost no English. You will get by with a few Italian words and some hand gestures.
The room was spacious with a nice balcony and two toilets. The kitchen was ok (lagged a little kitchenware)
Some word of advice:
Ischia has very small and steep roads almost all over. So what looked like an easy walk to the supermarket on google maps, turned out to be a pretty sweaty hill climb :-) So in fact this is not the ideal place for doing your own cooking. Stick to the restaurants. In general the place is really nice and has a really great location. But it seemed not really up to speed. A lot of half finished projects on the facility, general lighting was done with huge led lamps proving this hard not cozy light setting in the evening.
So a feeling that it was OK, but having the potential to be so much better if properly utilized.
The staff was really friendly when approached, but was not really that forthcoming, probably due to the language barrier.
So word of advice to others, ask in some more and you will probably get some more insights to Ischia.
We had booked a family room with kitchen. The room was spacious but the private outside area was strangely hidden away on the back looking into a big wall. Again a view of the facility and the ocean would have greatly improved the value of the room.
Cucina casareccia ben curata.
- Mikkel (10/5): Som at besøge familie - Nydeligt familiedrevet hotel i stille omgivelser. Fantastik mad tilberedt af bedstemor. Super betjening og flotte værelser. Som at besøge familie
camere pulite. piscina termale frequentabile a qualsiasi ora giorno e notte.
ottimo ambiente.
- sabine (10/5): Loved our stay at Villa Tara - We loved our stay at the Villa Tara! Treated like family, and the staff made sure we were taken care of and helped at all times. They would give us a ride if we asked, and they wanted to make sure we had a great stay and always felt comfortable! Next time we go to Ischia we will stay at Villa Tara!
- Alan (8/5): Homy Hotel - The hotel offer a home style atmosphere with good individual room with all individual utilities. The breakfast is ok, missing some fruit. The souper offer for 25euro was not worth, but you can get many restaurant at 15min walk. The rooms is nice and clean.
- Verified traveler (10/5): A wonderful location for a quiet vacation - We thoroughly enjoyed our three nights with Mariella and her family. The room was very comfortable and had its own semi-private patio. The pool is heated by a thermal well and we had it pretty much to ourselves every time we used it. Though there is no view of the sea, there are spectacular locations just a short walk away - Sant'Angelo and Sorgeto both present beautiful and unique experiences. At Sorgeto you can bathe in thermal pools of varying temperatures or swim in the warm ocean waters. Mariella is happy to drive you to or from Succhivo where you can catch the bus to other locations on the island. She and her family couldn't be more welcoming or obliging, and we appreciated their warmth and hospitality. Grazie molto!
