Guest Reviews
- Hok (10/5): - There is no breakfast in Litli Geysir Hotel. The breakfast was provided by Geyir Hotel, which was excellent. Hotel is so close, just few minutes walk to the Geyser.
- Siew Yen (8/5): - Very good location which is literally a walk away to Geysir. Clean room & property has a very nice ambient. The only let down is the area where the shared coffee machine is has very poor lighting, thus even when the instruction on how to operate the machine is there on the wall, one could not see it. Night staff appears to be annoyed with customers for that and kettle overspilling on boiled because someone would overfill it.
- Joyce (8/5): - Nice convenient location. Warm and welcoming, small and cozy. Path to larger "sister" restaurant was an easy walk.
- Debra (10/5): - Very nice beds. Easy walk to geysers and very quiet
- Daniel (10/5): - A nice little hotel woth great staff.
- Kimberly (10/5): - This is a very clean and comfortable hotel. It is right across the street to the Geyser and in the center of the Golden Circle. No free breakfast, but complimentary coffee and tea in the lobby.
- Russel (8/5): - Nice
- Emma (8/5): - Litli Geysir was really well located and the breakfast at the neighbouring Geysir Hotel was excellent. The rooms were rather sparse and I found the beds uncomfortable and the pillows particularly poor. I would have asked to change them but reception rarely seemed to be manned.
- Wei (10/5): - Excellent location with outstanding dinner and breakfast
- Nelson (10/5): - Excellent hotel
- Cindy (8/5): - Access to the geysers was excellent.
- Kelly (8/5): - Location was great, it’s across the street from the geysers.
- Ehsan (10/5): - Conveniently located next to the geothermal area and geysers. cozy and quiet hotel with free coffee and tea 24/7 accessible. The staff was friendly and nice. The room was spacious and clean with a nice view of the geysers. We had a lovely one-night stay during our ring road trip. Recommended!
- Michael (10/5): - quiet area, close to geysers
- Eve (8/5): - Walking distance to Geysir. The staff were nice. It was quiet overall.
- Dmitri (6/5): - This is not a three star hotel; it’s a two-star motel. Clean, comfortable bed, nice shower but very basic.
Breakfast in the main Geysir hotel was good.
- wilfredo (10/5): - Cleaned and nice room. Good dinner food.
- Gretchen (10/5): - Great little hotel very close to the geysirs . This hotel is associated with Hotel Geysir, which is where the restaurant for dinner and breakfast are located.
- Eli Joe (8/5): - Breakfast is so good and the presentation of it
- Hatim (8/5): - Was really nice close to everything only complaint was that our shower did not work they tried to fix it but needed parts
- keiko (10/5): - Loved the tasteful decoration. Great location
- Paul (10/5): - Beautiful Property with helpful staff.
- Charis (10/5): - Got upgraded to Hotel Geysir. Location is excellent and within walking distance of the Geysir.
- Julie (10/5): - The Geyser was across the street, close to Gullfoss and Brúarfoss waterfalls. Good central location on the Golden Circle.
- Jenny (10/5): - Hotel was amazing. Just great.
But, very expensive.
At least include the breakfast into the price. Don't charge extra.
Otherwise it was phenomenal.
- Sara (10/5): - We actually stayed at the Geysir Hotel not Little Geysir after a complimentary upgrade. Wonderful spot. Staff friendly and helpful.
Room was beautiful. Beds super comfortable. The Soley toiletries were an exceptional.
The breakfast buffet was delicious.
- Marny (10/5): - Great location, lovely hotel, fabulous breakfast.
- mike (8/5): - Staff very helpful and attentive.
- john (10/5): - We were upgraded to Geyser Hotel. Beautiful hotel with a very nice restaurant.
- Joanne (10/5): Stunning location - On arrival we were upgraded from Litl Geysir to Hotel Geysir. Room and view were amazing.
Evening meal was superb
- Jason (10/5): - Upgraded to Geysir Hotel. Lovely hotel, excellent location, wonderful staff.
- ashley (10/5): - I would rate this as a comparable to the Ritz!!! Best surprise of our trip. Great place with a great bar.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I was upgraded to the main hotel just next to it... The location was great, next to geysir center and walking distance to the Hot springs
- Kevin (10/5): - Everything was excellent
- Minhui (10/5): - The hotel is small, but everything exceeded our expectation.
Staff is friendly and helpful. The room is very clean.
The location is superb for visiting Geysir.
Breakfast included at Hotel Geysir is great.
We had a very good stay!
- Dirk (10/5): - We were upgraded to the Geysir Hotel and had a great room. The breakfast had a lot options. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
- Jason (10/5): - Great property right next to where we wanted to be. Had dinner in the restaurant, and it was equally amazing!
- Jacqueline (10/5): - I had a wonderful stay! The location was perfect—walking distance to the geysers—and the front desk staff was incredibly helpful and informative.
Thhankful for a great experience. I definitely recommend this hotel!
- Matthew (10/5): I didn't want to leave! - I'd reserved a stay at the Hotel Litli Geysir but evidently got upgraded to the Hotel Geysir for my stay. Wow, what an upgrade. One of the most elegant and beautiful hotels I have ever stayed in. I would have been happy sleeping in the lobby! Wonderful breakfast with anything you could want, and across the street from the geysers, so you could take a morning stroll before all the tour buses arrived. They even offer a wake-up call in case there's a northern lghts display during the night! A++
- Anthony (10/5): - The lights are amazing for viewing the stars and Northern Lights. Close to the geysers and is easy travel to many many amazing sights and locations.
- Lori (10/5): - We were delighted to arrive to the Litli Geysir only to find out we were upgraded to the beautiful Hotel Geysir right next-door. We were not told the reason, but we certainly appreciated it. Our room was cozy and comfortable. We especially loved the shower. We had dinner at the Hotel Geysir, which turned to be as expensive as a one nights stay in a hotel. $200 is pricey to have to send my fish dinner back to the kitchen because it was cold when it was served. Otherwise, we had a lovely stay. Thank you.
- Ali (10/5): - This hotel worked perfect for a one night's stay. Each room had two twin beds and was minimally furnished (not in a bad way). Expresso machine was in the lobby with very cozy seating. The location was also great. The entrance to the Gysir was walking distance. We could also see other gysers from our rooms.
- Mark-Baeley (10/5): - Clean and large rooms. Great location for Golden Circle route overnight stay.
- Victoria (10/5): - Wonderful place
- Emma (10/5): - I was upgraded to the Hotel Geysir located beside the Litli Geysir. Very friendly staff and someone was always at the front desk waiting to help. We could see the Northern Lights from our bed. There was also a very delicious dining room downstairs with many different food options on the menu. A little pricey but worth the money.
- Kalin (8/5): - The room and bathroom were comfortable and spacious. The broken coffee machine was an unfortunate way to start the day
- Cori (10/5): - The woman at the front desk was incredibly helpful - gave me directions to the nearest gas station and set up reservations for dinner.
- Bly (10/5): - There is a river/big creek behind the building that was such a peaceful view to be at in the morning. Walking distance to the geyser. Love the vibe in the hangout lobby area.
- Jodi (10/5): - This is a really nice property within walking distance of Geysir. The rooms are large, modern, and have a nice big bathroom. The front room serves beverages but it’s so nice we wish they would have served some food options so we could spend more time in there. There is coffee with a nespresso machine near the lobby. I would definitely stay here again.
- Lili (10/5): - Cozy room, very comfortable bed! The location was perfect for us to see the northern lights and geysirs.
- Aline (10/5): - Hotel is great! Dining there was incredible!
- Jessica (10/5): - Loved the hotel.
- Katherine (10/5): - I loved the clean and sleek style of this hotel. 10/10 would suggest this hotel. The breakfast was great! You aren't too far from the visitor center, which has a variety of food options. The Geysir hotel was a nice dinner experience, but pricey.
- Andrew (10/5): - Great place to stay, cleanness, comfortable and right across the street from geyser.
- Gaylyn (10/5): - It was in a great location. Quiet. Coffee and tea available 24/7.
- Duncan (8/5): - Litli Geysir is adjacent to the Hotel Geysir and across the road from the geothermal park. It provided a fairly basic room with an excellent breakfast at the Hotel Geysir. It was ideal for a one night stay on the Golden Circle.
- Alexander (8/5): - The location was perfect - just across the road from Geysir park. Room was very clean and convenient, beds are comfortable. The only inconvenience - no on-site breakfast - you have to go about 300 m to the Geysir Hotel to have paid breakfast over there which was the most expensive continental breakfast of our trip: $32.50 per person - way too high even by Iceland standards.
- Yenlane (6/5): - Not a good value.
- Alan (10/5): - Perfect place to explore the geyser location.
- Susan (10/5): Geyers - It was really great to have a room where we could watch the geysers go off. Breakfast was the best we had on the trip. Lots of variety on the buffet.
- Andrew (10/5): - The staff were friendly and accommodating and the rooms were spacious. Wish they offered breakfast on site -- the only option was a very expensive breakfast at the sister property next door.
- Amanda (10/5): - One negative was no access to area to cook
- Mark (8/5): - Great place to stay to see the Geysers and the wonderful Gullfoss waterfall. Not much else around though.
- Paul (10/5): - It would be helpful to let travellers know that late checkins are handled by the neighbouring hotel. We raced unnecessarily from the airport to checkin because we had read the frontdesk closes at midnight. We tried to call ahead upon arriving in Iceland but got no answer.
- Louis-Charles (10/5): - All good
- Catherine (10/5): - View of geysers from room window. Restaurant meals amazing
- John (10/5): - Pyclgxlydlyx
- Marie (10/5): Overnight stay - We were upgrade to The Geysir Hotel next door, that was really good.
- Alexandra (10/5): - I was upgraded to Geysir Hotel next door for free. I had a wonderful stay.
- Richard (6/5): - Good location but lacked internet service and staff was not as helpful as other Iceland hotels
- Sonia (10/5): - We stayed at the Greyson Hotel. The hotel is beautiful, and very clean. the food at the restaurant is delicious!!
We will be back for your!
- Alan (10/5): Super Helpful and Friendly Staff - My friend and I booked rooms at Litli Geysir but were upgraded to the Hotel Geysir across the street. The hotel was really beautiful and comfortable and all of the rooms seem to have really nice window seats with terrific views.
The staff was extraordinarily friendly and helpful! After receiving a call that the northern lights were active, I went outside with a few other guests to see what we could see. One of the servers from the hotel restaurant suggested that we would have a better view if we walked up toward the geyser and away from the lights in the parking lot. She then walked up with us to make sure we were set. Special shoutout to Jessica, the night desk clerk! She was super enthusiastic in helping all of the guests get the most of the northern lights experience. Really a highlight of our trip to Iceland!!
- Johnny (10/5): - This hotel was amazing. Walkable to the Geysir area and central to everything in the Golden Circle. We stayed here for an additional day because the service was amazing!
- Lori (10/5): - The hotel had two properties - Litle Geysir and Geysir Hotel. We were upgraded to Geysir Hotel which was a nice surprise. It's a beautiful facility and it also has a really lovely restaurant. The rooms were super clean - we did notice it was quite warm in the room when we arrived and had to turn off the heat and open a window, but I guess for a February arrival, that would be expected. Otherwise, this place is great!
- Jack (4/5): - Property was not kept up to date - uncomfortable mattresses - years beyond their useful life - poor room lighting (no bedside reading lights). Had to use cell phone flashlights to read in bed.
Desk staff did provide concerned and informative information and help with contacting restaurants and upcoming hotels
Feels like basic comfort and upkeep have been neglected but price would lead you to think it would be a much more comfortable hotel. Way overpriced!
- Ariel (10/5): - This hotel is more like a motel and was the most North-American-like accommodations we had during our roadtrip around Iceland. There is a large, casual and comfy lounge area with a telescope where you can hang out, read, plan your sightseeing and have a glass of wine in the evening, if you're not ready to just be in your room. There is no breakfast here; you have to walk for about 1-2 min to the other, fancier hotel for breakfast or dinner. But there is a convenient little coffee station for first thing in the morning. It's a great location to the geyser and the visitor centre; and really just what you need on a roadtrip around Iceland. The multiple lobbies (and restaurant) at the fancier property next door (Hotel Geyser) is visually stunning -- quite spacious and sophisticated -- and prices at the restaurant match that vibe. Order the reindeer paté. =)
- Daniel (10/5): - We received a free upgrade to the nearby Geysir Hotel, we can’t really comment on Litli Geysir, but our experience was great. The room was very comfortable and the hotel building was beautiful. We also had a couple of drinks at the restaurant which also seemed newly renovated.
- Diane (10/5): - Fantastic location! Beautiful area. Everyone was so friendly! Had a fantastic dinner! Room was unbelievable. Would stay again!
- Simon (6/5): Nice hotel in touristy geyser (and geezer) area. - Overall, it was a very nice hotel with a very comfortable bed. A few things I would change – – the lighting in the hallways is very dark and gloomy. The bathroom could stand to have a few more amenities. Perhaps this is an Icelandic thing, but the TV had about six channels. Most of them featured crappy English reality shows. There was also a stupefyingly boring Icelandic channel.
- Sam (10/5): - Everything was great, breakfast was qmazing. Location waa across the street. We got to see northern lights , crossed the street to geyser. Like 2 min walk place all to ourselves
- Peter (10/5): - Room was a little small, but adequate for one night. Not a lot of hotel/motel choices in the area.
- Rosa M (8/5): - Hotel was clean and simple. A place to lay your head. Fabian at front desk was very customer focused and was wonderful - He helped us with places to see and restaurants to go to and he took the time to answer all of our questions - Great room with games for kids - kids loved spending time relaxing there at the end of the dayl
- Rushi (4/5): - The rooms look like prison cells. Blackout curtains were not setup sufficiently and temperature control in the room was impossible. It was either freezing or humid and hot. The beds themselves were uncomfortable and the “table” in the room was really small, you are basically left with an uncomfortable bed as the only piece of useable furniture for every task. The bathrooms were okay
- Marianna (10/5): - Nicely located close to waterfalls and Geysir . Very clean . Easy parking . Comfortable room
- Anil (8/5): - All good, but reception and lounge closed early at 10 pm.
- Edward (4/5): - Breakfast at the big sister property was good.
Litli Geysir shower had mold, the bathroom had no privacy glass, the room was hot from sun exposure @ 30deg C , no fan was available to cool off the room. No coffee, tee in the room, one small hot pot sized for four small cups was shared by the entire hotel. The hotel ran out of tea and coffee and the front desk person would not go the Geyser building next door to replenish the stock!! The linen appeared very used and should have been replaced a while back. Hallway lighting was poor.
- Xuqing (10/5): - The hotel is conveniently located across the street from the geyser site, and the staff was friendly and extremely helpful in getting what we need. The included breakfast at the nearby Geyser hotel is the best continental breakfast we have ever had. Will stay again next time when we travel to Iceland.
- Crawford (10/5): Upgrade to Hotel Geysir was excellent - We were lucky to be upgraded to the Hotel Geysir as Litle Geysir wasn’t open for the season. Hotel Geysir was excellent! Lovely comfy bedrooms, modern decorated, very relaxing stay. Situated just opposite the geysir park so excellent location. Very good options for breakfast. Would definitely recommend.
- Jeremy (2/5): - Not open... Had to go, per their message next door to the Large Geyzir hotel which was twice the price but comfortable. You service is terrible .... Today's rental. Was a bust, too
- bruce (8/5): - Great location and we were upgraded to the main hotel. The hallways and lobby were entirely to hot. This made the room very uncomfortable. The hotel is very nice
- John (10/5): - We stayed in the main hotel which is beautiful. The staff was exceptionally helpful and the restaurant was excellent. The rooms are comfortable and nicely appointed.
- Martin (10/5): A great stay - Geyser hotel was amazing, very helpful staff, good food at a reasonable price, happy hour was great and a very cosy place
- Alexander (10/5): The Nice Geysir Hotel - Reservation was for the Litli Geysir hotel, but when we got there, the parking lot was empty and a note on the door said to check in at the Hotel Geysir next door. They checked us into the Hotel Geysir at the same rate as the Litli Geysir. So this review is actually for the Hotel Geysir.
The hotel is visually stunning, very modern yet distinctly Icelandic. The room was large and very comfortable. The restaurant had wonderful dinner and drink options and the breakfast buffet was fantastic. There is nothing about the Hotel Geysir that was bad... this place is a 10 of 10.
- Wilma (8/5): - It was clean and ok. The breakfast was excellent and location is close to attractions and right across the geysir. The only thing I l my husband and I didn’t like is ate the sheets. It’s rough and uncomfortable. Not used to that. Otherwise, overall is fair .
- Verified traveler (8/5): A little expensive but nice accommodation - Clean and comfortable stay for 2 nights. Good breakfast and lovely dinner in on-site restaurant. Geysir attraction right across the street.
- James (10/5): Wonderful site - The location of the hotel is beyond spectacular. The young lady at reception was delightful! The breakfast was outstanding. Superb value for the price!
- James (10/5): Nice stay - Very nice property. Comfortable room and very quiet. Restaurant and breakfast were very good.
- Alan (8/5): - You have to walk over to the main hotel for meals
- Sean (8/5): Nice and quiet - We booked through Hotels.com, which included free breakfast (at the main Geysir hotel next door), and we had to stand our ground a little bit to not get double-charged for it.
other than that, it was a nice, quiet place with a family feel to it. I dozed off to sleep watching Stokkur geysir across the street go off every so often. While Litli lacks the newness and fanciness of the main hotel, it is peaceful, relaxing, and just a short walk from the restaurants, geysers and shops.
- Yair (6/5): Overall ok, maintenance issues need addressing - My wife and I stayed at this hotel based on the fact reviews of others on this site. We were checked in quickly and went to our room.
Upon getting in, my wife found a dead dragon fly at the window sill. nbd, windows are open and no screen means that's a possibility. I went to take a shower only to find that the shower head was completely blocked and spraying water everywhere... The handheld portion still worked. Upon my wife bringing up the issue with the front desk, was told that this was the first time they were notified of such an issue... An unlikely scenario given that the crusting on the shower head would have been immediately seen by any cleaning person and should have been reported. I made a separate trip after the shower with video in hand to show the level of deterioration and ask how this had never been noticed. It also speaks to the low level of care / quality of cleaning.
We were switched to a new room, in this case, a bit of an upgrade. Slightly bigger and beds together. Yay! We thought all was well and went on to the rest of our day trips. Upon arriving back, my wife went to shower and found that the shower only output boiling hot water, regardless of the settings. This time, because it was after 10pm there was no front desk person. The next afternoon we were swapped into a third room because there's no maintenance person working.
Given the price and star rating, maintenance folks need to be hired / available and cleaning staff need to check better.
