Guest Reviews
- Carl (8/5): - Rebbeca was of great help during our stay.
- Brendan (10/5): - What a wonderful view from the balcony. We had a fantastic time here.
- Michael (10/5): Stay here! - Best stay ever! Great communication, amazing view, plenty of space, and the location could not be better.
- Shima (8/5): - Arriving to this property was incredible convenient as the host communicated with us by text message and spoke fluent English. We were late arriving so she left the key for us, we arrived just before sunset and after going up the elevator
- Yaritza (10/5): - La habitación tiene una vista hermosa y la host es muy atenta y amable.
- Mark (10/5): - Host/owner was very friendly and helpful. The view was great and it was very close to walk to everything.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Sol Levante was an absolute dream. The view from the balcony was amazing. Very conveniently located by the train, and we were able to take the lift from the train platform pretty much directly to the property.
- Tiffany (10/5): - We had an amazing stay at Sol Levante! Rebecca was an amazing host answering all questions ahead of time, during and after our stay. We stayed in the room that overlooks the water and loved it!
Location is very convenient overlooking the train station as well so a quick lift down to the platform to hop on the CT Express to other villages. There are stairs to get to the unit just in case you bring larger luggage. Private and quiet. I was looking for a steam iron and she brought one for me, so sweet!! Hairdryer and bathroom amenities provided, wonderful! Thank you Rebecca!
Definitely recommend!
- John (10/5): - This place is perfect for a visit to Cinque Terre. The location just across the street from the elevator to the train station makes this place extremely easy to access. The view from the balcony off our room looking out over the Mediterranean was gorgeous.
Rebecca met us at the property on arrival and assisted with luggage and gave us a walk through. She was great to communicate with via text although there were no issues that had to be resolved.
Just perfect!!
- Christopher (10/5): - We had a beautiful stay in Riomaggiore, right on the water! Rebecca was fantastic
- Thomas (10/5): Excellent service from host - Amazing sevice, greeting us at gate tobwalk us through property. Balcony room is wonderful with view of the water.
- Christine (10/5): - We had a fantastic stay at this property - it was perfect for our needs. It was quiet but still very convenient to the train station. Our host Rebecca was absolutely amazing, she helped us in many ways - including recommendations and helping us with which passes to buy to explore the towns. The room was clean and everything that we needed as a home base. We would definitely stay again.
- Robert (10/5): - Amazing location would stay again.
- Justin (8/5): Great location, bad parking - The parking situation was less than ideal. We paid to park and the space was physically close, but no way to get from car to house without going all the way around and walking up a lot of steps. However, host was super helpful and accommodating.
- Cori (10/5): - Rebby was amazing! She explained perfectly how to get there, and even met us at the car to help deliver our luggage to our room. She also made a dinner reservation for us. The room was clean, with a great AC unit, and a stocked fridge. Had an amazing experience.
- Shalini (8/5): - We had a very nice stay. The hosts were very helpful and provided all the necessary information to get to the property from the Riomaggiore train station. It’s very very close so that was a plus. Take the elevator/lift from the station ( free after 6pm) and you are right there. Room is small but that is not surprising given the old buildings. Room itself was very clean and the hosts provided a bottle of sparkling wine ( complimentary) that we enjoyed while sitting outside on the balcony. Overall we felt very welcome and would recommend this property to anyone.
- Arron (10/5): - Great place to stay and the property owner is amazing. Would highly recommend and would stay here next time.
- Daniel (10/5): - Clean and comfortable with an amazing view. The host was extremely gracious and assisted us with reservations to restaurants and answered all of our questions. Well located near the rain station but not far from center of the town.
- mhk92660 (10/5): Rebecca is kind and trustworthy - Rebecca is super nice. I did not actually see her u it.. because I made a mistake and booked for 2 people instead of 4. The room she had was too small.. with in minutes she found us a room that could accommodate 4 people with a different host. This was the busy time in summer, and everything was sold out.. how she found us a place is beyond me. The place she found us was lovely and the new host Emilio was helpful and kind . She even gave us a partial refund to help reduce the cost on the replacement.. she did not have to do all this and was very kind and helpful.
- Craig (10/5): - Rebecca was very welcoming and helpful during our stay and the view from this room is amazing
- Nicole (10/5): - Rebecca was super sweet and helpful. The property was in a quiet and convenient area (next to the lift even). We loved our stay in Riomaggiore.
- Juan (10/5): A great room with a view. - A beautiful view, and wonderfully located if you can appreciate a small balcony that overlooks the local Riomaggiore train station. As long as you are flexible to appreciate the sounds of the trains, and the announcements...but its a trade off with the great location, room and views!
- Jim (10/5): - What wonderful place to stay. Elizabeth and Rebecca were very helpful and friendly. The view from our room was breathtaking. Room was comfortable and well kept.
- Akash (6/5): - Great location
- Angela (10/5): - Loved our visit! You cannot beat this view. The room is right above the train station, so it’s convenient. The host was wonderful. She stayed in touch with us, made us dinner reservations, and was so helpful. Yes, the shower is small, there are stairs, and the bed might be a little stiff, but you can’t beat this view and location! I’ll definitely be back.
- Julie (10/5): - The owner was helpful and very accomadating. It made such a difference to know someone was there to lend a hand if needed. There was a mini fridge with fresh water, coffee, and snacks. The view from the room was breathtaking. You have to walk up 4 flights of stairs to reach the apartment. There is an elevator close to the property that helps reach the main level of the town for E1. Once you navigate that, you are a short walking distance to town and very close to the train station, so the location is fabulous. The lock system on the unit doors is a little tricky, but that is part of the charm of the experience. It is very close to hiking paths. I would highly recommend this stay to those that do not have mobility issues and can navigate stairs. I will be back!
- Natalie (8/5): - The host was welcoming, the room was clean and modern and the property is extremely close to the train station. After a few long days of traveling and hiking, the location was particularly amazing. Wish the shower was a bit bigger.
- katalink889 (10/5): Amazing location, very friendly and attentive host - Amazing location, just in front of the elevator from the train station, beautiful view, very friendly and attentive host who booked a table for us for dinner in the best restaurants in town. We had a complementary bottle of Prosecco, water and juices on arrival. I can strongly recommend this place and I am sure I will be back. My only issue was that all the other guests had to go through our terrace when they wanted to enter to their room, so we did not have much privacy.
- Douglas (10/5): - The owners were fantastic. Very attentive. They offered to arrange parking for me which I did not need. They stayed late to check my wife and I in. Elizabeth even helped nurse my wife back to good health.
The property is super convenient as it is an easy elevator ride up from the train station.
- Alexandra (10/5): - The view is incomparable! So beautiful. I felt very welcomed by the staff and well cared for.
- Wei-Hsin (10/5): - Amazing is the only word to describe the location, as well as is convenient.
The host was extremely friendly and helpful. Will definitely recommend.
- mandaofderry (8/5): Gorgeous view! - We loved our stay at Sol Levante. The view from the balcony was simply breathtaking- and a great place to enjoy pizza & wine!
The room was clean & functional, but you stay here for that view.
Elisabeth was so welcoming when we arrived & gave us great tips for restaurants nearby.
I would recommend staying at Sol Levante - and make sure you get the room with the balcony & ocean view.
If we ever return to Riomaggiore, we’ll stay at Sol Levante!
- Jeremy (10/5): - This place was great. We had the best view in the city with a patio opening up right onto the beautiful Mediterranean Sea! The view was so great we even brought food back to our hotel rather than eat at an ocean side restaurant. The owner was super nice and inviting, the bed was comfortable and shower/bathroom were great. It is located very close to the heart of the town. My wife and I would highly recommend this place to anyone staying in Riomaggiore!
- Angie (10/5): - We were given 'the best room' by our wonderful hostess Elizabeth. Just as you see in this photo, the glass doors open onto a private balcony overlooking the crashing surf far below. Saw a beautiful sunset from there. The only drawback to this property is it takes many uphill steps to get there. It is a lovely place.
- Ian S. (10/5): Excellent - This was a great place for us to stay. Our host was so gracious that she let us leave our luggage over night as we hiked the Cinque Terre. Close to the train and a bit away from the bustle of the centre of town.
- Jennifer (8/5): - We had a lovely 2 night stay. The room was adequate for our needs and the view from the balcony was spectacular. Elisabeth was very friendly and helpful.
- KBon (10/5): - I stayed here for two nights and had such a great experience! The room is clean, bright, and comfortable. The view from the balcony is beautiful, and it's a great place to watch the sunset! The guest house is also very conveniently located- it's only a few minutes walk down the hill to the train station, and quick access to the other villages in Cinque Terre. Elisabeth was a great host - she stopped by every morning to make sure I had everything I needed. I stayed here during my birthday, and so she even gifted me a nice bottle of wine the day of! Thanks for your great hospitality Elisabeth :)
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The location is great. It’s in the quiet part of town and the views are spectacular. Elizabeth is very helpful and the place is clean.
- Anristu (10/5): Perfect location with a lot of heart - The warm welcome and personal approach by owner Elisabeth made me feel home immediately.
Combined with a great location close to Riomaggiore train station and a magnificent view, as well as a perfectly clean and well equipped room, Sol Levante is the perfect place to stay.
I will be back for sure!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The hotel is next to the train station, less than 10 minutes by walk. The host was great, give us all needed information. The room was a clean and comfortable bed. From the hotel, you can walk to the city center and attractions.
- Anjinwonderland (10/5): Incredible views - My husband and I stayed in the sea view room for 3 nights. If you book this hotel, 100% book this room as the views are amazing. We spent every afternoon watching the sunset from our balcony. Grab some pizza from the pizzeria nearby (K&Pris Pizzeria - best pizza ever!) and some wine and you are set. Elisabeth is lovely and check in was simple. Yes it is a bit of a hike up to the guest house from the train station especially with luggage but it's doable! Room was very clean and with all amenities required. Wifi was unreliable but with views like these, who needs the internet. Riomaggiore is a fabulous little town to base yourself in and explore the surrounding towns. It was very hard to leave this beautiful place. Thank you for a great stay Elisabeth.
- Anh (10/5): - The place is amazing. Clean, comfortable, quiet and close to train station. Elisabeth is super nice and friendly. She even picked us up at the train station. We booked the ocean view room 9 months ahead, and I am highly recommend it.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - location was perfect. on bluff overlooking Riomaggio train station. (away from main city which was always active) everything great except the shower. small cramped. hostess was great. get the room facing the sea if you can.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It can be a bit of a climb but the view from my room was excellent.
- vicnjen2 (10/5): Beautiful sea view - Stayed here last few days of August. Before we arrived the owner Elisabeth contacted us by email with directions so easy to find from train station. You do have to walk up a hill but worth it when you get there. Elisabeth met us and showed us to our room and also gave us some information about restaurants and shops. The room was very nice and clean and had a kettle and a fridge.Riomaggorie is absolutely beautiful as was the view from our balcony. We had the double room with the sea view and were lucky enough to see the most amazing sunset on our first evening. Riomaggorie is a good base to visit all of Cinque Terre and you only need two or 3 days to do it. My only negative would be the WiFi it was really poor. Wouldn't have really bothered us any other time but we wanted to catch up with US open tennis in the evening. Still it was no big deal and we would definitely stay here again. Thank you Elisabeth and Riomaggorie we had a wonderful stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very welcoming host, clean and comfortable room, great location! Would love to have stayed there longer.
- stb772 (10/5): Amazing view and fresh room! - Me and my wife went here for two nights. I must say that I was very happy to see our room newly renovated and very tidy and clean! Superb service, the view was perfect, and communications to other cinque Terre cities were superb. Warmly recommended and will come back one day!
- Kaylani (10/5): - Elizabeth was so pleasant and nice! We really appreciated her welcoming us with such kindness. Her place had air conditioning, which was amazing to have in July's heat. There was a beautiful view from the balcony just outside our room, where we were able to enjoy a couple of our meals. Elizabeth even provided my husband and me some prosecco because it was our honeymoon! She was so nice!
- jungle1952 (6/5): Two day stay - Most reviews of this guest house are, in my opinion overly exuberant. It is located in a wonderful position, however the climb to it is a challenge if you have luggage. We were told that there is a lift from the station to the walkway in front of the residence, while this is true we were not told that it is not in operation and has not been for some time. The room is basic and a bit cramped, the bathroom small and the shower a tiny cubicle. The air conditioning was fantastic and worked very well, the bed hard and uncomfortable, the pillows, well not so good. The owner Elisabeth very officious and not really making you welcome, some milk in the fridge would have been nice.
Would we stay again, no.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very happy with choice. - Riomaggiore not as crowded as Vernazza or Monterossa on Cinque Terre coast in July. Beautiful view from small terrace & lovely welcome gift of Prosecco made stay special.
- Carly (10/5): Wonderful! - Elizabeth was beautiful, she was so welcoming and helpful. The room was clean and tidied daily. The location is great, a short 10 minute walk into town, and very close to the train station. I would absolutely stay again.
- OPark (6/5): Functional but no, if you’re into bathrooms - Mismatched expectations - Past reviews and photos had set up expectations of a bigger and nicer room. Without these expectations, the room itself is alright - on the average side. You’ll likely be out all day anyway, so as a functional bedroom, it’s alright. It’s not a warm, hospitable B&B, but more simply, a room for lease.
The best parts of this room are 1) pillows that were hard enough (not too soft), 2) availability of clothes lines to sun dry your washed laundry, and 3) its good location - an easy 10 min walk up the slope from the train station.
However, if the bathroom is an important part of your room experience, then stay away. The shower area of the small bathroom was small and restrictive. The shower experience is made worse when the shower water turns from hot to cold. It’s also not the kind of place that would provide nice shampoo nor soap.
The room is also not large - the bed takes up most of the room.
A smaller matter - There were two to three mosquitoes in the room during our two night stay. Not a big concern though.
We didn’t have the room with a sea view. However, we could sit at a table outside our room which provided this view.
Looking at the accommodation range in Riomaggiore, there are definitely worse options to stay at in Riomaggiore, so this is not a bad place overall. Just come with managed expectations.
- Frans (8/5): Riomaggiore - The accommodations were up hill from the train station and the owner met us to get to her place. She was very upbeat and helpful in making arrangements for us to visit the surrounding villages. Cinque Terre is well worth the visit.
- Lorraine (8/5): Relaxing stay overlooking sea - My partner and I stayed here for a couple of nights and it was beautiful! Our room had a balcony that overlooked the water which was great for evenings for wine and sunsets. The room was clean and the hotel was located in a very good area - close to the train station and less than a 10 minute walk from the marina. The bed wasn’t the most comfortable and unfortunately the wifi didn’t seem to work - not deal breakers at all. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others!
- Lilaea03 (10/5): Amazing room with sunset views - This was an amazing stay with perfect views of the ocean and sunsets. First the rooms were clean and very well kept. The location is super close to the train station and marina (where all main shops/restaurants are). Our hostess was amazing and made us feel more welcome than any other place we stayed on our trek through Italy. Our balcony was the perfect spot to eat our "take away/to go" pizza and drink our wine. We feel asleep to the sound of waves crashing... absolutely amazing stay. We had no problems with other noises and were pleased to find a water kettle and coffee for the morning. Thank you Elizabeth for making an unforgettable memory!!!
- michael (4/5): Overpriced - The B&B is basically a room on the lower floor of the landladies apartment. There are 3 rooms and none are soundproofed so you can hear everyone else. It is also noisy from the trains with the train station directly below. There was a damaged fridge in the room which was so noisy we had to turn it off. The shower cubicle is cheap plastic . There are signs everywhere telling you what you can’t do and the landlady insisted on inspecting the room 4 times over 2 days. On the last day check out was 10 but she knocked on the door at 9 asking us when we were leaving. There was no milk provided to make coffee and the soap was so cheap it fell apart in your hands. We did a tour of Italy and stayed in much better places at far less cost
- Verified traveler (10/5): Beautiful views from balcony - Elizabeth is a wonderful host. Helpful with suggestions for dining and touring about.
- mctavish2017 (4/5): Unnecessary stressful - When we arrived it was easy to find from the instructions given. We were greeted by Elizabeth who showed us to the room with the sea view. Before we could even look at where we were staying for the next two nights, we were asked for our passport and village tax money.
The room is full of signs of what you can and can’t do. I couldn’t get a signal for the WiFi and although a fridge was provided it was so noisy it had to be turned off. The tea and coffee provided didn’t include milk but we were given cheap plastic spoons to stir the drink with! The showers was a small flimsy cubical with two sachets of shampoo and two tiny cheap soap for toiletries.
Towels were provided but only changed every two days. This isn’t a problem if only there was a place to dry them for the next day. There was no radiator In the bathroom or in the bedroom just a fan heater at the top of the wall in the bedroom.
In two nights Elizabeth knocked on our door four times asking what time we would be leaving. On the day of leaving she came into our room whilst we had only our underwear on to check it and once again asked when we were leaving.
Altogether it was a clean place Elizabeth made the experience unpleasant hovering outside the door so she could clean the room. I wouldn’t stay there again but find another place in Riomaggiore as the villages are beautiful.
- Ssaurage (10/5): Beautiful View - This lovely home features three guest rooms. Elizabeth (the owner) greeted us warmly, provided info on how to operate and enjoy everything, and kept the place spotless. The guest home is on a cliff overlooking the water - it was perfectly situated to allow access to rail, town, etc. Perfect!
- malcolm (8/5): Great location, basic but no complaints - Best location in ,cinque terrre, very close to Riomaggiore station so easy for carrying luggage . Lovely and quiet as in residential area not Main Street. Simple room but nothing lacking
- Verified traveler (8/5): Don’t Overthink This - Just Book It - The Sol Levante is an excellent choice. Centrally located, clean and has great views. Elisabeth is really helpful and kind. The only negative I would have is that the WiFi coverage is spotty. Definitely not the worst thing in the world.
- Donald (10/5): - Very nice guest house with the best view ever. Your host Elizabeth was very accommodating
- Nicole (10/5): We will be back - Amazing place to stay with fantastic views of the ocean. Elisabeth was extremely accomodating and made the experience so homely. We will be back
- 898garyf (10/5): Beautiful place to stay - This was one of the highlights of our three week trek through Italy. Sol Levante is a guest house in Riomaggiore perched high on the hill side overlooking our own harbour. Elisabeth was the perfect host, on arrival we were greeted with a bowl of fresh fruit and a bottle of lemoncello. The start of a beautiful five day stay.
- Jaymo1978 (10/5): One Night Stay - This place was lovely, clean and Elizabeth the owner couldn't have been more helpful. She's so funny and her English is brilliant. Air conditioning was a god send and the bed was big and comfy after 16 hours travelling. Worth ever penny for the great nights sleep we had. So peaceful too as it's a bit of an uphill walk but worth it for the views. Highly recommend. We would definitely return. All shops and restaurants are about a 10 min walk into Riomaggiore. Plenty to eat and see. Enjoy.
- RameenS3 (10/5): Riomaggiore at its Finest - Sol Levante is a guest house which sits in the middle-part of the cliff above the town of Riomaggiore; it is, in all regards, a beautiful place to stay.
The views of the sea from your private balcony and large window, within the room, are stunning.
The room we stayed in was large, with a generously sized, comfortable bed. The AC unit was the strongest one we came across in Italy.
Elizabeth was warm and welcoming and was a pleasure to communicate with regarding our stay.
We could not have asked for a better experience in Cinque Terre.
- JeniaS_13 (10/5): The Perfect Place to Stay in Cinque Terre! - I can't say enough wonderful things about our stay at Sol Levante. Elisabeth (who is just wonderful) let us check in earlier and greeted us as soon as we arrived. She was just delightful to speak to and gave us tons of tips for Riomaggiore and Cinque Terre.
We had the seaview room for 3 nights and the pictures just don't do it justice. It was almost impossible to get ourselves to leave that balcony to go to bed every night. The views are just spectacular. You can hear the train but once you close the doors it's very faint and the sounds of the waves drown it out as well!
The room was also spotless. It's a smaller room (as mentioned) but you don't need any more than that. If you're spending all your time in your room in Cinque Terre there's a problem! It was perfect for my husband and I to come back to, unwind and get ready for the next day. The only thing is that the wifi isn't that strong. We found we got better reception when we went to sit on the main patio!
It's a very short walk to the train and about a 10 minute walk (a beautiful walk along the water) down to the Riomaggiore harbour/beach and town. Our train was later in the day and Elisabeth let us leave our bags so we could continue exploring before we left!
I'd highly recommend Sol Levante to anyone thinking of staying in Riomaggiore! The room is clean, the views are unmatched, the location is perfect and Elisabeth is wonderful! We would definitely stay here again!!
- 717ciarrah (10/5): Great Stay at Cinque Terra - Elizabeth is so accommodating! It was our first visit to Italy and we wanted to choose intimate lodging. My mom was celebrating her 50th birthday so we also wanted it to be special. It was quite a hike up the hills with luggage so pack light!
The place was sweet and nicely decorated. Elizabeth stays just upstairs so if you have any questions, you can easily reach her. However, it still has its privacy. It's a safe area and the sunset is AMAZING!
You'll enjoy your stay here.
- KishanM92 (10/5): Great Place to Stay! - We stayed for one night. Elizabeth the owner was very friendly and accommodating!! She let us leave our bags at the guest house as we arrived very early. Location wise, it's a short walk from the station and has a lovely view. As for the room itself, it was clean and modern. Additionally, it had all the facilities that we would have expected to have like a fridge, hair dryer, kettle, and tea and coffee. Also, there was free WiFi which is always a bonus!! Would happily stay again, highly recommend!
- amym12000 (10/5): Wonderful place to stay....beautiful views!!! - My husband and I stayed at Sol Levante for four nights in June. I am so glad I chose this guesthouse! Elizabeth was very friendly and helpful. The room itself was clean, comfortable, and not too far from the train. Even if you don't book the room with the balcony, there is a nice balcony that is open for all guests to use. We could see a beautiful view of the ocean and nearby hills. If you are considering Sol Levante, don't hesitate...book it! We will definitely be back.
- Cosmopolitan91471 (10/5): Beautiful guesthouse close to train station - Although a little tricky to find, the proprietress Elisabeth found us and procured secure parking (20€ additional) for our car and walked us to the house. Riomaggiore is adorable and we felt like we were staying with the locals. The house was clean, comfortable and private, and also very convenient to the train station - although you will not want to carry large suitcases up and down the stairs to get to the house. Cinque Terre is an amazing experience and this was a great place to stay for the fit traveler.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Close to everywhere - Excellent accomodation close to shops, restaurants and transport. Elisabeth was an excellent host who made sure our stsy was a memorable one. I would stay here again and I recommend it!
- Elindi (10/5): Amazing views and awesome stay - It was wonderful!!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The room was small but the view was amazing. There was no extras included.
- Geza (6/5): Different from what we are used to. Have open mind - Please do your research before coming here. The area is difficult to get around. This is a guest house not a typical hotel. The location is very quiet. Check out is at 10 o'clock in the morning. We arrived late but made accommodations for us to get in our room.
- mike (8/5): Decent place at reasonable price - This is not a hotel experience so you maybe disappointed if that's what you expect. A modest sized room with a small bathroom and a tiny shower. But you don't want to spend your time in your room in the Cinque Terre anyway. It's clean, well maintained, not too far from the train and fine after a day of hiking the hills. A short walk (uphill, both ways, I swear!) to restaurants and plenty of shops. Overall, a decent place to stay.
- Darlene (8/5): Fabulous view! - We had a very difficult time finding the guest house initially. The elevators were not working, and street signs were not apparent. We needed a local man to walk with us and point out the way. The first night we went hungry because restaurants were closed. Little did we know that they re-open about 7:30. Little eateries closed up when it rained. Be aware that the steps can be very slippery, and they are not very well lit at night.
The area is charming and beautiful! There are walking short cuts if you explore, and the trails are gorgeous.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Fabulous view - Small, clean comfortable room with a balcony with amazing views. Good shower.
Really nice having a fridge and a kettle. Newly renovated. We would stay here again.
- jeffery (10/5): - Elizabeth was very warm and friendly. Wished the elevator next to the entrance was working. The hill is a good 10 min walk but no steps on the hill.
- Annika (8/5): Lovely soot - Lovely spot, Elisabeth was very friendly and helpful, comfortable room.
- Kendall (10/5): Beautiful guest house in Riomaggiore!! - We had such a nice time at Elisabeth's guest house in Riomaggiore!! Yes, this is a GUEST HOUSE, not a hotel, but in many ways it's better and more like a cute BnB!! There's a refrigerator and coffee maker which is nice, not to mention the amazing views north over the water and the surrounding mountains. It's a steep climb from the train station up the hill to Sol Levante, but it's a nice paved road and only takes about 3-5 minutes to get there. We loved sitting on the balcony and having wine and cheese while the sun set--thank you Elisabeth for letting us stay in your beautiful place!!
- Marc (10/5): Nice and quiet. - Nice room, clean. Elisabeth was very friendly. House is in the less busy side so quiet.
Proximity to the train station was not an issue given good windows block the noise, but we left our window open anyway to hear the waves.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great guesthouse - Great guesthouse with a friendly and helpful host. Great location and views. Extremely clean, perfect wifi, great air conditioning and a huge comfortable bed. Would definitely recommend to others and would stay here again.
- brian (6/5): - Very disappointing guesthouse. First the good things--location pretty good and view from balcony excellent now the lowlights --not value for money, room small and stuffy, air conditioner Close to hopeless could not use balcony in afternoon and early evening due to sun and heat ( that's not the owners fault) but the a/ c barely kept the room cool with the doors and shutters closed. fridge was pathetic and barely stopped a piece of chocolate melting, owner had too many rules and even dripping washing on a clothes line is not permitted-- no breakfast included in tariff. Room overlooks very busy train station with only a few quiet hours in middle of night. Loud music till midnight from close restaurant also made for an unpleasant stay. All in all the best part was leaving!!
- Tasha (8/5): Clean Comfortable & Great Location - We were welcomed by Elisabeth and shown to our room right away and she explained about the facilities and was helpful in storing our bags the following day. The room was clean and comfortable and had everything we were looking for. The AC was much appreciated for a nice comfortable sleep. While the property was located above the train station we slept soundly and loved the views from the properties balcony. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for a nice property to discover the Cinque Terre and would definitely stay there again!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Was not provided with a room with a view ... Very disappointed ... This place is also a guest house but advertised as a hotel
- Faith (10/5): Great place to stay in Riomaggiore - The room was lovely and clean and very convenient to the center of town and the train. It also had a shared balcony with a gorgeous view. Elizabeth, the owner was so helpful and pleasant, she made our stay worry free. If I ever get back there again I wouldnt hesitate to stay again at Sol Levante
- Crhone (6/5): Great if you get the sea view room. - Small somewhat cramped room and bathroom. But if you get the sea view room with a small balcony it's a wonderful experience. This room is more expensive - but you get what you pay for.
The location should be good, directly up the cliff face above the train station so you get noise of trains day & night - OK if you are a sound sleeper. However the elevator from the station (and others in the area) is not working and looks like it has been out of order for quite some time - don't count on it being fixed any time soon. Because of this you need to haul your luggage up a steep hill from the station about 400 metres, 5-10 minutes on a hot day.
No breakfast available here; only a bar at the railway station. Plenty of bars, eating places and a small mini market 8-10 minutes walk into Riomaggiore. (You can walk around cliff-side road and down to town or back down to station and flat walk through tunnel to the left of the platform).
- John (4/5): It is a toss up... - Elisabeth met us at the gate and explained the ropes of her little place. Make sure you pay her in exact change. She said she would return our change and did not. I seem to remember this from another review. I also remember that the TV and wireless did not work. Still doesn't. There, apparently, is no free breakfast either. It was very clean. It is a great location. We paid extra for the ocean view. It was delightful. She furnishes it from IKEA...so should not expect the Hilton. I suspect Sol Levante just not that different from the others just closer to the train station. A plus for us...
- Benjamin (8/5): Perfect for a Cinque Terre Getaway - We loved Elisabeth and Sol Levante. It was a great location (although an uphill walk)- it had a gorgeous view and very easily accessible to the train station. To get to the majority of the shopping/restaurants in Riomaggiore, you have to cross either the tunnel by the station or walk the upper route which has beautiful views also, but its nice because it makes the location quiet and peaceful. The train is close, so there is some noise from that, but not enough to keep you from sleeping or napping. Overall, wonderful spot. I would look to stay here again! There are also two more rooms on the property in the event you have a larger group.
- Victoria (10/5): Amazing view! - We had a room with an amazing view.... well worth it!
- Verified traveler (8/5): A little shy of excellent - Beautiful, clean place, outstanding view, lovely caretaker. Small things could make for an excellent experience: add a chair in room, a microwave, instant coffee, some plates and silverware. Those things would have made us oh so much more comfortable! Also, the walk up was pretty strenuous, but if it weren't there would be no view! But then we are are 65 and 72 years old.
- lilac (10/5): Beautiful view of the ocean from the veranda - Nice hilltop guest house.clean room. Very friendly owner.
- Victoria (8/5): - Sol Levante provided everything that we needed for our short weekend adventure in Riomaggiore. It is within a 5 minute walk (uphill) from the train station just off of the walking path and offers a clean room with a private bathroom. The hotel only offers a few rooms, so an appointment time for check-in is needed. 30 feet from the gate of the hotel is a few benches where we watched one of the most amazing sunsets I have ever seen. Overall, it is a positive experience that I would recommend to anyone traveling to Cinque Terre.
- Jenifer (8/5): Sol Levante-Great View - Great location. Sol Levante is located on top of the hill immediately after you exit the train station. You will need to take the elevator located in the tunnel to the upper level. There is no lift (elevator) to the hotel above. Will need to climb several stairs. Keep in mind when making reservations. There are only a few rooms at this hotel. We stayed in the one room with the view. The room itself was quite modern and very clean. The view was breath taking. We liked the location because it kept us in shape. The town was quaint. We would definitely stay here again.
- Reynaldo (6/5): Good - This room was nice and clean, Elizabeth (the manager/owner) was very attentive. This is next to the train station and you can have a decent view to the sea.
- Marjory (10/5): Superb location for visiting Pisa and Florence - An absolutely charming hotel with great rooms, friendly and helpful staff and excellent food.
The restaurant is set in the most beautiful part of the hotel and serves delicious food from an interesting menu.
The old town of San Miniato is a short drive away and, set on a hill, provides beautiful views over Tuscany.
A great place to stay and we will definitely recommend.
- Victor (6/5): - Great location, hotel marking can be better for foreign tourist!
- James (6/5): Cinque Terre room - This hotel is located in the center of the historic district. The room is very modern and nice, but small by American standards. The building is older and historic like all its neighbors. There are 42 steps from the street which is probably average for Riomiggoire.
Also the hotel is located at the top of the town elevator which is great for bags. Services other than the room are limited. Staff was very accommodating.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Perfectly nice - Our room was small but all you need since you are not in it much! Comfortable enough! Very nice owner who is available to answer questions!
