- Daniel (10/5): - We really enjoyed our stay at this property over a late July weekend! I was in a rush and when I booked our room, I picked a queen size bed instead of a king.. no big deal and we spent the first night on the queen bed.. when we woke up we realized that we definitely needed something bigger.. I went to the front desk and rang the bell for service and that’s when I met the owner Glen.. he was so gracious and very willing to accommodate us.. in fact the night before we had the pleasure of meeting his daughter (Leah I believe) at check in.. again so gracious and a pleasure to talk too.. they are a family run business and are doing such great work updating the hotel, it’s absolutely gorgeous what they have done and the rooms are extremely clean.. I have read some negative reviews and I can only come to one conclusion and that is instead of bringing an issue they might have to the owners attention they would just rather not say anything, deal with it for the rest of their stay then write a bad review after the fact.. the owners can’t help you if you don’t bring a problem to their attention.. we plan on coming back to this area of Maine many more times and we will definitely always stay here… safe, clean and quiet!

- angela (10/5): - I have been going to this Inn for years . The transformation through the years of the building is amazing. It's beautiful, they are friendly and it's safe. You could not ask for a better place to stay or nicer hosts while you are there.

- Verified traveler (8/5): Great location, very quiet and clean. - This was a one-night stay for us to attend a funeral in a remote area. It was in a good location that offered everything we needed. Room was quiet and large. Bed was firm and while we did sleep all night, it was "crinkly" and super firm. The spider webs that greeted us outside in front of the door were yukky but didn't affect the inside. Towels are terrible. Thin and almost thread bare enough that we used the "bath" towel provided and the hand towel to dry off with. Invest some $ in new towels. Please. We would stay here again if in the area.

After this was Cleared up; they were put in a Room that is not what was booked; their Room was Taken by another Larger Group that arrived before them. There was a Huge Whole in the Ceiling that was being covered by a Black Garbage bag... All the Pictures in the Room were Crooked; just looked like the Room was not cleaned after the last Guests. Do not recommend this Place unless you arrive while someone is still at the Front Desk and you reserve a Room From 1-10.

Only gave staff 3 stars because a N.A. wasn’t available- we never saw anyone- keys were left out in envelope for us and we used the key drop on the way out - easy peasy . Location was perfect for our needs. WiFi was weak and we had better LTE but room was clean and warm which was great. It had just snowed the day before but the parking lot was still a bit messy - thankfully we had boots . Plenty of food options near by and appreciated the welcome letter from the hotel outlining local places . Thank you -

When you reserve your room you are given a telephone number to call before check in. I called in the lobby and I could hear the phone ring. When speaking with the person I could tell they were in the next room. How about coming out to greet your customer. None of the doors shut properly and the walls are paper thin. Rooms are old and dated but clean.

- Bruce (10/5): Full Fridge, Keurig, Spacious - We were given a room in the "house" part of the accommodations so it was a nice change from a "normal" room. We especially appreciated the full sized fridge which allowed us to refreeze our ice, and you can't beat Keurig for your mourning pick me up. Internet and TV worked great. A nice stay!

Took our own garbage out and asked for towels when we happened to be there when another room was getting turned over. Other than that the bed was comfortable. Maybe time for some new towels.

- Myles (8/5): Good Business trip stop over without doughnuts. - This has become a steady place for me to stay during my business trips to the region. The only thing that I noticed that didn't work was the reception bell on the front desk; It makes a noise, but no-one appears. Should be replaced with a pager button. Would also be nice having something to go with the push-button coffee in the morning, like locally produced doughnuts :-)

- Mary Ellen (8/5): Perfect for 4 adults just passing through town - It was a quick overnight arrived late left early. There was a key waiting for us due to late arrival and the room was very clean and cozy. We chose this hotel because it is more of a bed and breakfast and we preferred 3 beds instead of 2 separate rooms which they had to offer. Room was small did have its own private bath but just be aware that only one bed has view of television.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This one bedroom apartment converted into a three bed suite gave us enough room for the kids with kitchen and private entrance. Clean and well-heated for our winter stay. The kitchen ware was a little hit or miss and there was an unfinished wall in the bathroom. Bring your own towels if you like soft ones. One bed was firm, the other two soft. Lots of space outback for the kids to run around. A great in-town retreat for winter adventures in the area.

It was very comfortable, included WiFi, loved the highly polished wood floor in the common area where there was always coffee, tea, or hot chocolate available 24 hours a day. It is located close to several restaurants and shopping. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

- Michael (4/5): Basic no frills stay. Bad WiFi and coffee. - Room was very basic. Windows were painted shut so I could not open any of them. This was disappointing because it was such a nice day/night when I stayed there. The WiFi was also too slow to use for any practical applications. While they provided free coffee, it was Great Value brand and they didn’t offer any creamer other than powdered.

- Verified traveler (8/5): Adequate for overnight stay - Room was clean but not much area for 2 people to sit down (only one chair at a small table). Traffic noise was a little loud at night but bed was comfortable. Nice lobby area, coffee available via Keurig. There was no ice for guests.
- CarolynMcLaughl (2/5): - Poor service through expedia that didn't discribe the units well about no bathroom facilities for individual rooms. Shared bath attached to a two bedroom unit and would not be not acceptable to someone who is up several times during the night.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Not what we expected - When we arrived we found out that we were not staying in the main inn, but actually staying in the house next door and sharing a bathroom with other guests. We were not aware of this when booking. We were disappointed with the condition of this house/room: dangerous stair case, confusing cable (I think we had to rent it so we didn't watch), stained pillow cases and carpets, the adjoining door to our room lead to the attic and had no lock. Lincoln itself is a nice town. There was a festival going on and many friendly people.

- Verified traveler (4/5): - Was definitely not told that my room was going to be European style with a shared bathroom and shower with other people. Very loud and outside noise from the road made it hard to sleep. Check in person really couldn’t care less I was there and just stated your room is up that way. Part of the facility had private baths so not all. Felt pretty ripped off frankly.

We were able to all get together in the common area at night to hangout and the staff and owner were extremely nice. Would definitely stay here again and recommend! - Bianca (10/5): Awesome - The Whitetail Inn was a wonderful place to stay! It was very, very clean and updated. We had to travel very far to visit some family and having The Whitetail Inn to stay at while we were there was a great comfort. If we have to make the trip up there again we will definitely be staying here again.

- David (10/5): Best place between Bangor and Houlton - If you are on your way back to Canada from a shopping trip this is the best place to stay between Bangor and Houlton. Just a quick drive off the I95 and the owners were amazingly friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again.

My challenges were being unable to turn off the air pump (which was neither hot nor cold) and getting a bit cold at night (no extra blanket - it is the turn of the season, so maybe that's just how it rolls). The check in is minimalistic and digital, so it's not straightforward knowing how best to get advice on these things.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Little hideaway motel - The motel is about 25min north of bangor. It wasn’t a bad place to stay for the price. The negatives were the extremely small 3 piece bathroom, no tub just a tiny shower, carpeted floor, pillows were tiny and flat and had the smell of the last people who used them. Bathroom really could have been cleaned better and pillows should have been replaced. Wi-Fi wasn’t working. Security wise they should stop using keys for the doors and get swip system. Other than that, pros: comfortable bed, tv and channels were good, price for the stay was under $100, close enough to bangor and shopping.

There was free coffee and tea in the main part of the hotel which was nice to have. A few breakfast items would have been nice too - like fruit and a few pastries. The building itself is very old but it has been restored beautifully and the room was very clean and nice.

- Christopher (2/5): Total dump. - I went to check in and the place was vacant except for the noxious odor of paint which gave me an instant migraine. It was a complete disaster. The 'lobby' was trashed. Paint and plaster all over the floor with tomorrow mornings coffee mugs covered with plaster dust. My room was 15 feet from the lobby and I really can't overstate how toxic the paint fumes were. Regardless, I wasn't staying in this dump. I requested a refund and the owner refused. Classy. One half hotel, one half used car lot. It was a big mistake I won't be making twice.
