• Margaret (2/5): Epic fail! Don't waste your time or money here. - The couch in the living room was nice to sit on and the kitchen was stocked with everything but kitchen towels/paper towels. We booked the penthouse suite with the private pool but the pool pump was broken and the water was murky so it wasn't usable. The safe was broken so we could only use the basic code that the staff gave us -1234. They said it wasn't possible to change the code so we decided not to have our room serviced to keep our belongings safe. The sink faucets sprayed all over the place even when turning it on lightly so every time we tried to wash our hands our clothes would get wet and surrounding areas including mirror were a mess. This is a concern bc our toothbrushes are at the sink and the faucet water is not potable. Finally door lock to the half bath and front door were broken. My husband and I wasted half a day waiting for staff to come by and fix these things. And the gen mgr Ana was horrible with service. She constantly denied these issues but I pushed again and again and she finally sent someone to fix the front door lock. But the safe was not fixable neither were the bathroom lock or faucets. Main thing was the private penthouse pool was not usable. And this was one of the biggest reasons we booked the spot. Overall I'd say this place is an armpit of a place. The service was just horrible. Not apologetic at all; just defensive and inattentive. The only reason this is a 2 and not a 1 is bc of the location.

• Anonymous (4/5): I would never stay there again, avoid this property. - The cleaning staff was friendly and when things didn't work they fixed them. The AC didn't work, the place smelled, the tiles and walls were falling apart. The upstairs deck all the wood was rotten. There was no hot water one day, the electricity would fail for large periods of time. Actually there was no water in the morning one day, that was the day before there was no hot water. When I arrived the the safe was locked open, that took a day to fix. It was a nightmare. Also bugs in the room, they fumigated the next day.

Booked through third party service so didnt feel as if we were one of the establishments customers. Not having immediate access to pool towels was a 1st for us on a luxury vacation.
• Gary (7/5): Convenient and reasonably priced. - The location as it is close to the beach. The interior is starting to get a bit dated and the blackout curtains in the room have holes in them, so light does come through. The water pressure is also a bit low but otherwise everything was fine.
• 811beeb (2/5): False advertising scammers - False advertisers!!! Do not stay here. They post pictures of the room you get on the hotel sites and give you a completely different room that is nothing like what you thought you paid for. Don’t think you’re going to get the room in the pictures. They post pictures saying you’ll get the room you think you’re paying for and then give you a completely different room that doesn’t have any of the accommodations that they put in the pics. Then they have the nerve to say that the pics don’t matter. You have to go through their list of written accommodations to see if what you’re looking at in the pics they post, you really get. What a bunch of scam artist thieves.

• Dominick (8/5): Vacation at Playa - The location is great, 2 min walk to the beach, restaurants and the 5th avenue. The staff were friendly and helpful. Love the penthouse has a private pool on the roof, the view is amazing. They need to improve some of the rooms, had no TV in the master bedroom, the bathtub is a little hard to get could be a little bit dangerous, some don't offer TV service anywhere in any rooms, and they run by different owners, so you don't know what to expect. Our first room was clean and have most of the services, but our second room was a not good at all. So be careful where you book it from.

The pictures and text indicated a beach front ocean view, palapa style bungalow. My expectation was that we were steps from the sand outside our room. Although we were close to the beach, we were on the 3rd floor of an apartment style hotel. Not what I expected at all from the original pictures and description.

• Gabriel (7/5): It could have been a 10, but it was a 7 - The room is great and very well located with the beach a few meters from the reception. There was no way to shut down the light in the bedroom at night. As the room is not managed by the hotel where it is, when I called reception asking them if they knew how to turn off the room, the receptionist told me "I don't know" in an angry manner and hung up the phone. I went down to try speaking with him and he told me he can not do anything because they do not manage the room (I supposed that was something he could let me know by phone). What I want to point out with this, is that the staff there will not be of help if you have an issue. I put two black bags over the light, and I couldn't make the room totally black, but at least it was something. Reading previous Booking reviews, this is something common (idk if only in this room or in others too). It was a shame because the room is beautiful, but once you reserve it, if you have any issues you will need to fix it on your own. I wrote an email to the managers of La Divina letting them know about this problem, but I have the feeling that nothing was done to fix this issue as I didn't receive any answer.

• Sue (9/5): I highly recommend staying at LaDivina by Aldea Thai and would definitely stay again myself. - We were very happy with apartment. For the most part it was spacious, comfortable and the daily maid service was a plus. The beds were comfortable and so was the living room furniture. The living room and double bedroom had small two chair balconies with very beautiful partial views of the ocean. You do look over some buildings. The double bedroom had lots of closet space and TV. The master bedroom didn't have enough closet space but did have a TV and a wide opening leading into the bath with double vanities, shower and water closet. The rooftop terrace was large with plenty of sofa/chair seating, two reclining lounges and even two full size beds for sun bathing. The small pool was very clear and much deeper than it appeared,,,close to 4 feet. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking but no condiments staples such as salt and pepper were provided nor coffee for the coffee maker. There were beautiful double pools on the second floor which we did not have time to enjoy. The property appears to be older than some others but is especially well maintained and beautifully decorated, very luxurious feeling. Check in and check out was easy. Registration personnel and doormen were very helpful and patient with our lack of Espanol. We were within walking distance of all types of restaurants and shopping. It was a little further to the ferry area than we thought it would be so we took a taxi,,,,,only $10 each way. We were able to walk to our dive shop and to be picked up for day tours. The decking platform on the rooftop was dated and beginning to have soft spots in the wood but not to the point of being unsafe. The bath for the second bedroom also served the living area and was small but nice. I wish that 4 gallon jugs of water were provided rather than the smaller bottles. We needed more water for drinking and making ice. While we appreciate the properties maintenance and improvements projects we wish we could have avoided the construction noise. Not the properties fault but there is major road construction between Playa del Carmen and Cancun causing erratic pattern congestion. Going to Playa del Carmen our trip was over 2 hours and back to Cancun we were expecting a 5 hour trip so we adjusted our hotel pick up time. I would have rather flown into Cozumel and taken the ferry over than to deal with the unknown traffic pattern but that's me, just be aware of possible delays.

• Björn (3/5): If you like an old, cockroach-infested place - this is it! - Good location, large rooms, comfortable beds, and a few streaming services available free of cost. To start off with, the cockroaches. Although we were told that the property had just gone through a “deep clean fumigation” which resulted in 4-5 dead cockroaches laying belly up during the mornings, we also had to get rid of a few of them that were still alive and kicking. Apart from that: The place itself is pretty outdated, smelling quite old and moldy. Fences on the balcony are dangerously fragile. The faucets are loose and absolutely worthless. The toilets clogged up the last day we spent there (I couldn’t bother to report it at that point since we were checking out). The pool is completely worn down, with lots and lots of tikes missing - not even our bath-loving kids wanted to take a splash. So no, there’s absolutely no way I could recommend this property - to anyone!

Unfortunately, the property ran out of water for a few hours at a very inconvenient time. Also, the rooftop terrace was large with a lot of furniture and gorgeous view but no privacy whatsoever to neighboring terraces. Very communal. A negative for us but might be a plus to other people.
• Laszlo (7/5): Good - I have read that checking in is diificult and that the receptionists are rude. Well, for me checking in couldn't have been faster and easier and receptionists were kind and attenntive. Sometimes there was trouble with water pressure.
• Gabriela (6/5): Disappointing and exhausting stay - The cleaning staff were great and the place is close to everything. Good kitchen with all necessary appliances. Pool and pool service is very good, and gym is well served, clean and well maintaned. First, I would like to clarify something I did not understand before I arrived - Aldea Thai is a condominium and La Divina is a hotel retail agency. First, there was a bar DIRECTLY BELOW our room, which was located on the first floor. The bar played music unbelievably loud until midnight every single day. See, we do not go to bed early, but it was impossible to relax as the music flet like it was literally in the room. And things get worse- there is a beach club just in the end of the road with music starting before 10 AM every single day... a great combination which leaves you with lesse than 10 hours of no music inside the room (even with doors closed). Sound proof doors should be madatory here, or otherwise you shouldn't be advertising the room without noting this to people. The room is also very, very dark, not enough lighting - more light bulbs are needed in the room. Also, the shower is very weak, pressure is terrible - even cold water does not run appropriately. Pillows are too high and unconfortable (like, really, really high) - we tried asking for exchange of pillows but they had no other options. And to top it all up, unbelievably guests from upstairs simply threw garbage in our verandah... not once, but twice. And we had to wait till next morning for cleaning. Btw, cleaning staff was great and I thought it was so unfair they had to clean the garbage the other guests threw... I think the hotel had to make the guests themsleves go clean what they did. We truly hope they got a punishment. AC also did not work well - the wind direction was pointrd toward the bed, so it was freezing and unconfortable for the people lying there. We tried to contact la Divina to solve this and they told us to regulate the temperature, which obviously did not solve the wind direction, as we repeatedly tried to explain. To summarize, location, close to markets and restaurant is good, but the place itself was a huge dissapointment - even for the price.
• Bambolaf (9/5): Very nice - The room is gorgeous, well decorated, and has a huge big tv. Big bathroom with wardrobes. Nice shower with hot water. Very nice bed and linings. Huge smart TV in front of the bed with Netflix. A Living room. Nice kitchen. This is a condominium building not a hotel. It has a big pool in the middle that serves food and drinks. There is a reception and cleaning service. There is a massage place downstairs and restaurants around. It's on the beach but it doesn't' have beach service or area as it's not a hotel. It was kind of quiet, staff around the room and pool can be a bit noisy using their phones. They tend to speak loudly on their phones with speakers that's generally annoying which probably was the only bad thing I noticed. Reception staff and Downstairs were very nice. There were a lot of mosquitoes in the room bring something for mosquitos The pool was very quiet not much people. I have been told it's open until 9PM. I could hear a bit of music in my room coming from the pool area. Mosquitos in the room a lot of them. Staff is not quiet talking on their phones around the pool or while working on cleaning/renovations

Would recommend Cafe Choux Choux for going for breakfast which was about 11min. Walk from apartment We did have a good stay Only problem we had was the main light would not switch off. It was controlled by remote control which wasn't working. Did notify the owner so hope sorted it

• Paul (8/5): Very good - Huge facility with rooftop pool. The unit was also located next to a great beach and had easy access to 5th Street. If you are going to stay in town, this is a good location off the main drag. The rooftop pool is not heated and really not swimmable.

The feeling it brought to us, I have never felt in any other hotels, which you can’t see simply from the photo! The air conditioning in the master bedroom is on and off the whole night, even after switching it off completely, and it’s too loud.

• Ben (7/5): Nice and comfortable for decent price point - The hotel has views of the beach and direct access just a few meters away. It was quiet when we stayed so we had the pool to ourselves most of the time. Room was big and as pictures suggest. Aircon worked well and was much needed after the Yucutan heat. to check-in I had to pay my bill at another location. Directions to this place were very loose, it was lucky that I was able to find it. The room occassionally had that smelly drain emission coming through, especially in the evening. There are a lot of stairs and hallways in this hotel, it's quite a labyrinth of rabbit Warren's. Some paths lead to nowhere in particular.

My guess... they gave us a wrong prices (<$50). we had a choice to pay $100 on the spot on top or be directed to another hotel. we choose the later. in all fairness, the alternative was very good. so we never actualy stayed in La Devina
• Andrew (5/5): Would NOT book here again. - The location is great. The rooftop pool and the community pool are nice. The A/Cs blew cold. The kitchen doesn't even have some of the most basic amenities that you'd expect (paper towel, plastic cups for the pool, etc). We had to flush the toilets with a pot filled with water from the kitchen because they wouldn't flush. No deep cleaning at this place in quite a while. The bed in one of the bedrooms was moved to the side of the room because the rooftop pool was leaking into it. The maids were amazing. The front desk staff was a pain from the very beginning. They asked for our IDs multiple times even though I had a Whatsapp thread with them where they were clearly visible, they significantly up-charged us to add two adults even though that increase was not required at the time of booking, and they demanded that we returned our bracelets to them at the front desk upon departure so they could throw them away or else charge us 100 pesos. We had to go back up to the room and dig through the trash to find them.

Close to the beach and main amenities in town and good selection of restaurants. The private pool in the roof was nice. The property needs maintenance. It looks a bit tired.

• César (1/5): One of the poorest service I have ever witnessed - Nice Location To be honest we have had a very bad and deceiving experience, on the second night the toilet got blocked, they were not a single tool in the room or at the reception, no one to help, we had to contact an administrator on WhatsApp who basically told us to wait until the next day if we wanted to use the toilet in our room (and this was at 6pm not 3 in the morning). We asked if we could have another room but they refused even though the building was half empty. We had no choice but to leave the hotel and book somewhere else for the days we had left. They also refused to refund the remaining nights. I understand that problems can occur and you can judge a host/hotel on how they handle that type of situation; in this case they clearly did not care and the problem was our problem. The room are ok but not as nice as in the pictures you can see that this is getting a little bit old, the sofa were torn in our room, the wifi was extremely slow, you can not change the temperature of the AC otherwise the all system fails. Definitely not worth the price specially if you consider all the other options available in Playa del Carmen

I always vacation at playa del carmen and ive been to these penthouses before and they will keep me coming back. Best beach best penthouses and best service. Greatly appreciate all staff that make this possible. If you are traveling with family and are looking for the most cormfortable and clean place to stay and at the center of all the action (day and night) this is where you need to book. Dont think about it just go ahead and book i promise you will not regret. Ill be back in october with my family. Everyone loves the place (kids and adults)
• Sharon (5/5): Never again, sorry, and I just don’t leave bad reviews - The condo is clean. The staff is nice! There are a lot of broken items inside the property. For example, the showerhead, the broken mirror, the broken balcony, the broken cabinet to the water heater. All of these things are overlookable. People that I thought were other renters, but by the end of my day realized are probably condo owners were trashed and overtook the whole pool. The condo is right next to the pool bathroom and the adults were vomiting in there and pissing on the floor. I counted 30 plus adults. it’s a shame that people here were so belligerent and disrespectful that the other families could not enjoy the pool. Also one of the family members or possibly the bartender was grossly hitting on my 15 year old. Also, it should be known , when I booked this place, I thought it was at the other end of town near Playacar, where the beach is calm. it is not it shares the beach with Mamitas beach club and if you’re not paying for the beach club, then there’s nowhere for you to sit.

• Oscar (6/5): Mixed - The fridge was great. In fact, I think the ability to be able to cook should you want to or have no problem having food for takeout is nothing short of amazing. The rooms themselves are quite great looking, and while there were a few quirks here and there (sockets looking old or one towel holder being somewhat loose) it was really good. The private pool was murky and had algae, not only that but getting the hotel to clean it was quite a hassle. The process took more than a day, and once it was cleaned it wasn't a deep clean. So plenty of dirt still remained at the bottom of the pool since it wasn't drained and refilled. You can see the bottom of the pool in my picture. Another thing we encountered was locking the room when leaving. You had to quite literally jank the handle up and down, and by that I mean the entire lock installation inside the door, for it to lock. Otherwise if you just pulled it hard or did something else you could still open the room with the strength of your body. I think it's definitely something to be careful of.
• Yan (6/5): Loud music playing in the evening - The staff was very helpful and react quickly, but overall it is a bad choice. It is okay overall, however it is very loud in the late afternoon or evening. On Saturday evening they play music directly downstair of the apartment till 1:00 am, very noisy. Not recommended to stay there.
• Elena (10/5): Few great days in Playa del Carmen - We booked a basic studio apartment. It was large and comfy, with a lot or room, very clean. We did not use the kitchenette, we just used the fridge. We used the pool and it was great, with a lot of shade that we appreciated as the temperature in April was already high. The check in was effortless, but we suggest to send details in advance on the guests (as we did, following the instructions that were sent to us). The staff on site was great. When we checked in, there was a power cut in the whole block of the town, a large area was with no power. The management was extremely helpful, they got in touch with us, I was in touch with Vanessa that I thank a lot, and they offered us another room in a nearby hotel outside the area with no power at no additional cost. Everything was done in a very professional way and we were very impressed by the way they reacted to the situation. Our room was also quiet in the evening and during the night. Nothing I can think of.

• Pat (10/5): Beautiful hotel in a great location - The pool was beautiful and clean. It is very close to the beach and main tourist areas but was very calm and quiet once in the hotel. The staff were professional and helpful. The room and common areas of the hotel were gorgeous. It would have been nice to have a couple chairs and a small table on the balcony.

Not a helpful staff in Rey, referred to host via watsup. .Floor not cleaned, feet turned black because it was so dirty. They said the pool was cleaned every day, but not once in the 6 days we were there. It was very dirty. Had to sign a contract that it would be quiet after 00, but the neighbors were awake long after and had a party, arguing and shouting.

• Jelena (7/5): Great last minute gateway to Playa - The apartment is beautiful, it is clean, centrally located, and well-equipped. The beach is close and beautiful. The private pool and balcony are a gem in the off-season. Fifth Avenue is close, and so are the taxis for the daily excursions. Building staff is independently contracted by the agency we rented the apartment from. The person you communicate with is not the person in the building. Everything takes 50,000 phone calls. Even if you ask for an early check it will likely not happen as the cleaning crew and renting crew do not communicate. My advice is to change into beach gear leave suitcases with the front desk, and rent chairs at the beach club. The safe in the apartment was broken, and the agent was slow to respond for days to the point I had to make sure someone showed up before we left to free our passports and the cash. The communication is close to 0. Everyone constantly expects a tip so bring a lot of change in pesos or dollars. Elevators in the building are so bizarre it takes a while to get to the front entrance (if they work). The main pool food is not great. Reef28 is behind the building, and they start playing loud music at their rooftop pool and bar from noon to 10 p.m., so get used to the loud music. Have cash, either the exchange rate is horrible or they just don't take cards if you leave the apartment. 7-11 across the street is well stocked.
