• Joseph (6/5): Not the best, but still a pleasant stay - The hosts are lovely people who are very welcoming. The bed was comfy, and the heated blanket made for a cosy night. The local scenery is beautiful, and you can easily go for nice walks from the hostel. The large living area is ideal for big groups. It would be a good spot in summertime. The hostel is a bit far from town. The bathroom was not the cleanest. The washroom felt exposing due to the windows. Only one washroom would present difficulties with a multitude of guests.

• moffo_jojo (8/5): Peaceful and quaint location - breakfast and dinner was delicious. Location is peaceful and quiet and relatively close to the temples. Taxi ride from Tobu Nikko station is also cheap. I wish better pillows were provided. They were a bit worn out and flat.

I booked it on off season and had the dormitory to myself for almost the entire stay My only issue is that it is far from the station and town, but i knew that when booking.

• Hidetoshi (4/5): 日本滞在を楽しむにはお勧めではなく、兎に角安く泊まるところがあれば良いだけと言う人向け。 - スタッフは親切&フレンドリーでとても良い方々でした。朝食のスクランブルエッグやフレンチトーストは美味しかった。なので余計に良く無い点が残念に思いました。 安価ではあるけれど、それには良くなかった点があるからだと思います。 全体的にメンテナンスが行き届いてないです、というか建物としてはもう限界を超えてる。リノベーションと言うよりはもう建て替えが必要で写真のように映える状態ではありませんでした。エアコンも交換時期かと。1日目は子供が喘息にようになって寝れませんでした。2日目は流石にエアコンつけず窓開けていました、前日の寝不足疲れで寝れましたが、エアコン付けるとカビ臭で咳鼻止まらないでした。隣の部屋の会話、トイレ流す音など普通に良く聞こえますし、廊下、階段の床の張り物も浮いててパキパキメキメキ音を立てずに歩けない状況です。ドアも部屋の中から開けられなくなり困りました。色々と安心して使えない状態でした。

• Rika (7/5): Staffs were friendly, smiley and kind, food was well presented I didn't have problems. - Room was clean enough and quiet, meal was cooked individualy but the room light wasn't lit, after flushed toilet papers returned in the pot. Not exactly complains these are small point. Steps makng noises, the price was a bit a lot - I thought I paid breakfast included but I paid 2 breakfast at the accommodation as the owner told me I didn't pay yet.

• Nakata (9/5): 友達が増えたひとり旅。 - 雰囲気のよい共用スペースがあり、お客さんは外国人の方が多く、非日常な交流が生まれて楽しいです。 大晦日に伺ったのですが、皆さんとても親切にしてくださいました。素敵な場所です！ 駅からは距離があり、バス路線からも少し離れた所にあるので元気に歩ける人向けかもしれません。 Booking.com上のチェックアウト時間の設定（20時）と実際のチェックアウト時間（18時）が異なるので注意が必要です。

• Clyde (10/5): - Lovely homely feel. Ken-san and his wife were excellent hosts who made excellent food for a fair price. They even ran me a big hot bath and kindly offered me a lift to the station when I left. Ken-san also went out of his way to help me plan my day trips and gave me recommendations for what to see/how to save money etc. Bed had an electric blanket too which was amazing in winter! Loved it, felt very taken care of! They didn't respond to my messages through the booking app, and I didn't have WhatsApp so my late check in was a little tricky.

• Joanna (5/5): Mid - Some nice out of the way cafes / restaurants around. Place smelled of gas. There was only one shower for the dorm of 8 people. My bedsheet was stained. It’s actually quite a distance from the train station and it may be hard to get a taxi depending on what time you get to the train station. Property also replied quite late to my enquiry about luggage storage by which time I’d made alternative arrangements for my luggage.

The room smelt of the kerosine heaters used to heat the communal living area. This place is more a backpacker type place - and we are not the backpacker type. We only stayed one night (although we had paid for three)

The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even more enjoyable. Breakfast was absolutely delicious. We also appreciated the convenient hotel service to the train station, which made traveling much easier. Overall, it was a pleasant and hassle-free stay.

• CARINE (10/5): Good choice to stay in nikko, in the forest and close to the city. - The house is very nice in the forest and close to Nikko city. I stayed 2 nights and i don t regret. The dormitory is big and i slept well. What i like it is the " cosy" atmosphere of the house. It is unique. It is not a simple hotel. Don t waste your energy if you are tired and with suitcase. There are many taxis just front of tobu station train and it is very cheap only 800 yen. For the check out there is a transfer free at 9.30. For the dinner , eat in the house it is very good , fresh food and not expensive. I recommend a very cosy " coffee " place up on the road less than 5 minutes by walking. It is a good place to have a drink. You can reach the famous bridge and monasteries by walking. Thank you the owners they are very helpful, polite, they do the best for the guests. I read reviews about beetles. Keep in mind you are in nikko forest, surrended by trees, wood...its is not a hostel in tokyo.

• Charles (8/5): Very pleasant!! - The owners were just lovely! They made our stay!!‼️❤️ the breakfast was fine, the common space was nice! The place is very convenient to the main attractions! We would stay again! The location is a bit of a walk from Nikko town BUT much closer than other hotels!!

• David (6/5): Pleasant but poorly located for public transport - The staff were very friendly and helpful and the accomodation was pleasant enough, but was booked late during peak season, so was expensive. For us, it was poorly located because we were using public transport and it was a 20+ minute walk from the station and buses. Because of the location in a forested area, there were a number of beetles in our room. The meals we purchased here were below our normal expectations for Japan.

I don't usually leave bad reviews if the problem is minor. However my experience here was horrible because of severe bed bugs infestation. I got very bad reactions and paranoid of bringing any back home 😔 not mentioning extreme tiredness on the following day from 2 hours of sleep. There was other problems too but again this one overshadowed all others.

Quit, peaceful. More for those who look for budget accommodation. We didn’t use the in-house dining. We had a car so going around was quite simple. We booked a double room. It was smaller than we expected. Didn’t have space for the two trolleys.

• TADAO (7/5): 外国人と楽しく交流てきる宿 - 宿泊者を外国人対象としていると思われ、各種表記はすべて英語。名前の通り山小屋風て、ロビーとレストランが一体となった空間でリラックスできました。 満員となった約30,名の宿泊者の9割が外国人だったが、皆さん楽しんでいる様子だった。 シャワールームは3～4人入れるバスタブがあり適温の温泉がはられていた。2晩ともホテルのシャワーを使用せず、徒歩で5分の露天風呂つきの温泉を使用しました。 次の点を改善したら良いと感じました。 1. 　クツ箱が満杯だったので少し広くするのが良い。 2.　色々な種類のスリッパが用意されていたが、一部古くなっているので新調する。 3.　駐車場の位置を図示して分かりやすくする。 4..　風呂場にある3種のシャンプーは文字が小さく判別しにくいので、大きな表示を追加する 5.　洗面用のお湯をバスタブ付きのシャワールームの中に入らなくても使用できるよう、洗面台にお湯を追加する。

• James (10/5): Great, chilled, friendly - The staff were friendly, and could speak quite good English and understand English even better. Very helpful. French Toast was lovely and is the best breakfast here. Heated Toilet seat, free use of shampoo and body wash. Replaced used towels with clean towels each day in your room and bedding made up and bin bag changed each day, without needing to ask them or put signs up on the doors. Very good first accommodation in Japan experience. Perfect location within 6mins walking time or one minute driving time to "The Stables" where you can do standing archery in traditional attire and horseback archery. 5-8min drive into the centre of Nikko, where it is easy to park with plenty of restaurants, cafes, and souvenir shops. Very clean Town, very beautiful views and bridges and buildings. Thank you!! Could have been one or two hooks on the bathroom door on the inside to hang a toiletry bag up. But this is just a minor inconvenience.
• Nerea (9/5): - Es un sitio bonito. En la zona común tienes bastante espacio, dónde te afrecen café gratuito. Hay una terraza. El baño tiene un mini onsen interior con vistas al exterior. Si llueve, plan perfecto! Comí el menú vegetario Zen dinner y estaba riquísimo. Tienes una taquilla pequeña para guardar cosas personales. Está bastante alejado. Tienes que subir 15 min de cuesta.
• Vincent (9/5): - Le personnel est très accueillant et partage facilement des conseils sur des activités alentours. Il est possible de dîner sur place (réserver avant 16h30), la dame m'a même exceptionnellement préparé un repas végétarien (c'était adorable !). Les chambres sont cosy, et la douche dispose de son propre bain :-) Attention, il faut compter 20 minutes de marche pour accéder à l'auberge (pas de transports en commun dans cette partie de la ville). Cependant, ça en vaux le coup, le cadre est sublime : auberge en pleine forêt à flan de colline ^^
