The rooms were clean as always and we used the cooking appliances to stay in as we didn’t want to go to restaurants though they are very nearby all in all an excellent stsy

• Patrick (8/5): Bon établissement ! Connexion wifi a améliorer. - Arrivé vers 19h , c'est le gardien qui nous a remis les clefs de notre studio. Bon accueuil a l'arrivée et au départ. Les chambres sont assez grandes par rapport a d'autres établissement. Le coin cuisine est propre, mais la vaisselle reduite au minimum pour 2 personnes. A part le bruit de quelques residents, l'exterieur est calme. La connexion wifi est par contre capricieuse, et demande de frequentes reconnexions. Salle de bain, petite mais fonctionnelle.

• Alan (6/5): - We found this hotel an anomaly. On the approach, my heart sank somewhat, - the exterior looking somewhat like that of a 1960's holiday camp. The 'Guardien', (the hotel's title, not mine), appeared from the main building & didn't suggest that we follow him into a separate single storey building which was the reception area. I had to ask him who he was & should we follow him. Our room was on the ground floor of the 2 storey building. Access to the room was via a code on our booking sheet. However, the room, though a bit sparse, was brilliant & immaculately clean. Obviously designed for someone in a wheelchair, there were extra wide doors and a huge amount of space both in the bedroom area & bathroom. The King-sized bed was very comfortable. A downside was that the room hadn't been warmed before our arrival. It was left for us to turn on the electric heaters in the room & bathroom. Breakfast was adequate. Toast apart, there was no hot food option. On leaving, we were asked to pay for breakfast even though the Guardien told us that the payment I'd made to him the night before included breakfast. Perhaps you could investigate & let us know if we had paid twice. Thank you.
• Richard (6/5): Hotel or Motel! - Hotel or rather “Motel” was clean and functional - no frills but adequate for a short stay. Could order breakfast for the following morning but no menu in the room to select from. If you’re looking for a reasonably priced room with little on site then this would be suitable - but not what I would call a hotel!
• Philip (8/5): Hotel d'etape - Good place to stay on the way to Brittany from Calais. Motel-style. There is a night-keeper which is useful when arriving late. Small kitchenette helps when you want to prepare your own food.
• Matthew (10/5): Hotel La Pause, Evreux. - This Hotel is great for stopovers , situated about a five minute drive away from the main town centre, it was perfect for our needs. The room was basic but comfortable, good clean bathroom with a decent shower. Has Microwave, fridge and tea/coffee making facility. Breakfast is served next to the main reception and has a good variety of food available, great for all the family. Plenty of parking space. Overall a very enjoyable stay.
• SimonE930 (6/5): WEIRD - This is a story rather than a review. We found a parking slot, and then we headed to reception. There was no-one there, but I learned that the 'gardien' (caretaker, I think, in English) was just coming. He literally rolled up: it was apparent that he was very drunk. He managed to take us to our apartment. This was immaculately clean and well equipped, and I put the experience of the gardien behind me. I saw that the fridge was set to zero, so I turned it on -nothing. So, off I went to the gardien. 'My fridge doesn't work'. He let out an exasperated and alcoholic gasp. 'Well, what can I do for you?' he asked. 'You'll have to get me another room.' More gasping. 'I'll have to ring the boss. I'll come to your room.' Back in the room, the fridge had started to work but no light coming on. I pointed this out to the gardien. 'None of them have lights,' he exhaled upon me. Well, the apartment was very nice. Huge bed. Unfortunately, despite 'no smoking' signs, there was a persistent whiff of cigarette smoke, much to my wife's annoyance. Next issue: despite all my efforts I could not get the electric hob to work. Oh no! Another trip to the gardien. I found him in his own apartment. More huffing and puffing. I couldn't catch all of what he said, but enough to grasp that he was extremely annoyed with me, and close to becoming insulting. The usual , 'What do you want me to do about it?' Then: ''Thank God not all the guests are like you.' At one point I think he actually said, 'if you want this sort of service then go to Campanile.' He reluctantly came to the apartment, and we did get the hob to work. By this stage, the whole thing was comical, and I just took it as an entertainment. I confess to quite enjoying it all. However, it did occur to me that if something terrible happened (a fire, for instance), then the gardien may have been useless.
• Alexandra (10/5): Super little stopover place! - A great place for a stopover on the way to or from the south. Lovely & clean, comfy beds, super shower. Enough kitchen equipment to prepare breakfast or a simple meal. In a very quiet residential road but not far from large shopping centre, Carrefour, restaurants & takeaways. Highly recommend it!

• michael (10/5): Overnight stay at La Pause - Close to motorway so good for an overnight stopover on the way to the south. Much improved with new owners. Clean, comfy bed, plenty of hot water, good parking space and everything in working order. Worth the money!!

Friendly staff including owner. Too far for us to walk in (very hot too) but found low costs/free parking just outside town centre. Quiet suburban location

• Helenruth123 (8/5): Excellent last minute booking - Having had a eventful journey with car problems and numerous traffic issues on our way to France we realised that we needed an overnight stop. Usually we are organised and book in advance. Without the opportunity to research we booked La Pause and what a find! Excellent value, large clean room, including a small kitchen. After the initial misunderstanding of us arriving earlier than expected all went smoothly and I can highly recommend La Pause. We will definitely be back. Good overnight stop on journey to mid France.
• futuras (10/5): "La Pause" Ticks all the Boxes - I recently had my second overnight stay at La Pause about a week ago and just like my first stay everything was perfect. M. Christofe was as helpfull as ever. My room on the upper floor was very quiet and well fitted out. The small kitchen area is most useful for preparing a simple supper and suited my own requirements vary well. My Motorcycle was safely parked on the property. La Pause does seem to be unique being in a quiet residential area but only a short drive to ammenities for those wishing to avail themselves of more substantial evening meals. La Pause does indeed, "Tick all the Boxes".
• dirgegirl (6/5): Nice big family room, but hotter than Hades - This is a basic motel-like hotel with private parking off the street. We booked a family room which had a large double and two singles, as well as a little kitchen area with microwave and kettle (even plates and mugs etc, but we didn't use this facility). The room itself was really good, with a decent shower, but utterly airless. Even with the window wide open it was almost impossible to sleep due to being slowly roasted. It wasn't even that hot outside! I think we may have been unlucky as other guests said that even with the windows closed they were fine. I would have liked a choice of pillow too - the pillows provided were enormous and gave me a sore neck! Perhaps delicate flowers like me should take their own pillow on holiday.
• MFS67 (8/5): Good place for overnight stop when driving to or from south of France - We stayed as a family in this hotel when driving from Calais to the Dordogne. Very comfortable rooms including fridge and kettle. Location is very quiet with electric shutters meaning a dark room for a good nights sleep. Hotel is about 20-25 minutes walk from the town centre where there are lots of choices for places to eat an evening meal. Would be a five minute drive if you didn't want to walk. Breakfast ok but nothing special. Supermarket petrol station between hotel and the N154 so easy to refuel enroute.
• N9582OCmarkh (10/5): Great value stop over! - My family and I stayed here on our way back from Spain.it had everything we needed and was nice and clean.the shower was excellent and I struggled to get out!the owner was very helpful and really nice.we would definitely stay here again.
• vigonose (8/5): Spacious, functional and efficient - This is a basic motel-like stopover, but if you want somewhere warm, light and spacious then it's a good choice. Very good bed and bathroom; free wifi; the little cooking area is well equipped and clean, and there's a table and chairs for eating. If you can get one of the parking spaces (there aren't enough for every room) then you don't have far to hoik luggage. It's about 20 minutes' walk into the town centre (it's uphill all the way back!); there are plentiful buses until about 8 at night. We got a friendly welcome and would stay again.
• rogerd764 (10/5): Wonderful Service - Just knew this overnight visit was going to be good from the telephone manner of the owner, friendly but businesslike. My Wife had broken her ankle on a previous overnight stop en route from Spain to Northern France so after a stay in Hospital, we were limping home (pun intended) in shortish journey days. I telephoned the Hotel and explained our situation and was impressed when the owner suggested a ground floor room where I could drive the car right up to the door. When we arrived we were directed to our room and offered any assistance we might require. The large double room was very comfortable for a budget hotel and extremely well equipped. We were asked if everything was OK for us and then left for a relaxing evening. Next morning we were again offered any assistance we might need and all through our stay the staff were wonderful. I appreciated the concern shown regarding my Wife's predicament and accept that as fully fit guests we might not receive the same level of concern but it speaks volumes that they were prepared to put themselves out to help someone in need. I would recommend La Pause without hesitation and will most certainly call here again.
• Jane551 (8/5): An excellent night's sleep - La Pause's rooms are actually small studio apartments. They have everything you need - the MOST comfortable bed, a good shower, dining table and chairs and a kitchenette with fridge, microwave and two-ring hob. There are plenty of plates, cutlery and glasses for two - toiletries are provided, and they even give you enough washing-up liquid to do the dishes! The location is quiet, in a residential area and it is not as difficult to find as it looks on the map - just follow Booking.com's directions and you won't go wrong. It is only five minutes from the motorway, so very convenient. If you don't fancy cooking for yourself, you can order in a pizza in the evening and breakfast can be taken in a pleasant little dining room by reception, but for those who prefer the freedom of self-catering this really is a fantastic place for an overnight stop - and at around €50 for the night is excellent value for money. We will certainly use it again.
• K3210JIrichardm (8/5): Decent place to rest - This is no luxury resort but that's because it's so cheap! Me and two friends stopped here on a cycling trip and the hotel was more than happy to accommodate our bicycles. The room was clean and spacious and the breakfast was reasonable for the price. One thing I will mention though, there is no 24 hour reception desk which could be a problem for some people. If your looking for a cheap stop over this place fits the bill.
• CordesSurCielJudy (10/5): Stopover en route to Calais - I arrived on spec late at night. The proprietor was extremely helpful. I was given a very spacious and comfortable room. King size bed, kitchenette, desk, table, large bathroom and wifi made for a very comfortable night. I was able to leave the car parked securely opposite my door. A great place to break the journey. Highly recommended!
• Bold40 (10/5): Excellent stopover - This is by no means luxurious but at the price it represents excellent value for money. Rooms are clean and spacious, beds are comfortable and the WiFi effective. Breakfast was limited but satisfactory. Rooms had a kettle (we had to ask the owner for mugs which he very willingly obliged) and a hob. The shower was powerful and hot water plentiful. The hotel is more like a motel by design and you may have some reservations if you have kids in a separate room as the rooms open directly to the outside (and there are no phones in the rooms) although I am aware that they also have family rooms. We didn't need food but when I filled up with petrol I noticed that there was a retail park with the regular eating establishments within a mile. 75 minutes drive from Le Havre - I would stay there again.
• E6441MQalexr (10/5): Very accommodating for late night arrivals - We turned up at this hotel at 11.30pm last Thursday night trying to find somewhere to sleep for the night (having had to abandon somewhere else we were going to stay as it did not seem safe). Having tried all the chain hotels first (where the reception was closed) we were delighted when the lovely gentleman who runs the hotel came out to greet us, having heard our car pull up. Although he did not speak any English (& we spoke only basic French) we managed to communicate with him and we ended up with a lovely bright, clean & spacious room, which was very affordable. This hotel is perfect for a night or 2 enroute to somewhere. I would highly recommend it.
• JackM811 (8/5): Best value hotel we have ever stayed in. Keep up the good work - Very good value for money. Spacious room with kettle fridge cooker hob good size bathroom with shower. The room was incredibly quiet so we had a good nights sleep in extremely comfortable beds The manager/owner was help and accommodating. Continental breakfast was fine. Would definitely stay again if in the area and would recommend to family and friends. Again very good value for money.
• LFC74 (8/5): A real find! - La Pause is a new hotel that offers something that can be hard to find when travelling through France.... A family room, well equipped with 2 single beds and 1 double, spotlessly clean, cooking/fridge facilities and secure parking all for a reasonable cost. We will definitely use this hotel any time we are travelling to the west or south west of France.
• barbaraw730 (8/5): Fantastic to break a long journey - What a lovely surprise! This must be the best hotel we have stayed in, to break a journey. It has obviously had a lot of money spent on it and attention to detail. Having the little kitchen area was great as we were so tired we did not have to go out to eat but tended to ourselves. And the same for our breakfast as we had brought provisions. The room was lovely and clean, the bathroom and shower very good, including a hairdryer. The bed had lovely bedding, crisp and white. Loved the shutter mechanism....press a button and down it came! It was styled on the American efficiency motel. It was lovely and quiet too, no slamming doors or stamping feet upstairs and would recommend it. We did not see what Evreux was like and it was not near to anything much that we could see, but for us at this time, that did not matter.
• drjackyjones (10/5): Great place - I stayed here with my daughter and two children in two rooms. The hotel is a bit like a motel and you have your own entrance. Rooms were bright and spacious and beds are very comfortable. The owner//receptionist was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was very good. The hotel is a bit outside town so you may need a taxi if you want to go into Evreux for Dinner. You could prepare food in your room and eat outside because rooms are equipped with fridges etc.
