The staff, restaurant and food was excellent.we felt pampered and recharged. Even caught a small display of the northern lights here.

The area was really in a neat location, and nights were nice and quiet. Food at the restaurant was very good. We had the lamb and the cod. It was also super nice to have a good breakfast ready for us in the mornings to get our day started.
Ellen (10/5): Hidden Gem - Lovely unique hotel. Ideally located as a home base, to visit many sightseeing highlights. The hike up to the hot springs behind the hotel was wonderful. Would recommend to any friend. The breakfast buffet offered a nice selection, and the staff were amazing.
Bernadette (10/5): Lovely location - The landscape was beautiful with the sounds of the river right outside our room. It was fun taking a cold plunge in the river and the pool and hot tubs were great. Breakfast was delicious and the staff was wonderful.

Property could use some maintenance and updating, but this was a minor critique. Overall, great location and a nice pleasant stay. Enjoyed our diner and the breakfast was a pleasant experience.

Ffion (10/5): Great hotel in a beautiful area - This hotel is situated in such a beautiful area with natural hot springs all around. There’s a trail you can walk from directly next to the hotel which takes you to a lovely waterfall. You can go for a cold plunge into the river below after using the sauna. The hot tubs were lovely and relaxing with great views. Food was really good and the rooms were very comfy, would love to come back!

Deborah (6/5): - While the hotel was located on the bank of a river, there was a very strong sulphur smell in the air from the geothermal activity. This was not the fault of the hotel, but made the stay less pleasant. Also, windows and door to deck had no screens so could not be opened because of insect activity. It was very warm when we were there and there is no AC.

Andrea (10/5): Fabulous hotel - Absolutely loved our stay. 3rd visit to Iceland and our favourite hotel so far. You can take a dip in the river by the hotel, lounge in the hot tubs,go for lovely walks,breakfast was divine, staff lovely,rooms and bathrooms modern and comfortable. Dont be put off by the exterior which is very functional.
Iana (8/5): - Decent hotel - great views and hot tubs! Onsite dining is also a 5+. I’m giving this place 4 stars out of 5 due to our room being too hot and humid (no way to make it colder - even with open window; couldn’t keep the door open due to biting flies outside)

This place is so scenic and beautiful but is also close to town, restaurants, and activities. We loved it so much and encourage everyone in the area to check them out. The staff was fantastic and very helpful plus the restaurant was ideal for dinner!!! 10000 out of 10 stars.
Rosa (6/5): - Two major things to note: 1) the photos are not representative of the hotel rooms and the facilities - maybe they were at one point years back, but certainly not currently. For reference we stayed in room 2 - the bathroom was dimly lit, comparable to a hostel shower, and the bathroom fan was in need of maintenance as it was making a grinding sound. 2) due to our hotel room’s proximity to their geothermal oven, there was a continuous strong sulfur smell the entire time we were there. It unfortunately kept me awake at night. The bright spots of our stay were the hot tub and the breakfast buffet. The staff were friendly and helpful and tried their best. I would not stay here again for the high price per night - if I had known the two points above, I would have gladly driven a bit further for a better night of stay. It mainly comes down to the overall facility maintenance compared to the photos they show - it is quite run down and once you see the room, you feel misled and definitely it did not meet our expectations, which were based on the photos and descriptions.

We loved having a visit from Pumba, the sweetest host cat. Brunch was also excellent with many delicious offerings. We enjoyed making our own waffles.

We booked this hotel because we wanted a pool so it was disappointing. We loved everything else about the place. We saw northern lights and the scenery and walking trails are great! Brian (10/5): Fantastic stay under the northern lights - Could not recommend this place highly enough. The check in was quick and the front desk attendant walked me to my room. The rooms all had a view of the river that runs behind the hotel and the mountain that overlooks it. Dinner at the restaurant was great. And the outdoor hot tub was a great place to relax and enjoy the northern lights

Michele (10/5): - This is a quaint boutique hotel set by a river with lovely views. We had a full week of adventure, and this was a relaxing spot to end our stay. We enjoyed the hot tubs, sauna, and relaxation room. All were calming and peaceful. We opted for the budget room which was very small (as expected) but sufficient for two people and a couple of pieces of luggage. I would recommend this spot for sure!
Katja (10/5): Just wonderful! - This is the 3rd year in a row that we have visited which soeak for itself. This is an absolute gem and we were lucky to see the Nothern Lights 2 days in a row from the hot tub. The only things that would make it even better is if the outside lights were on a sensor so that you can enjoy the lights even more. As the area by the back is lit up so much you are missing out on the true beauty of the lights when they are visible. The showers get really wet, we stayed in 3 different rooms and had this issue in all whereas the shower doors don't ose properly. However this is a small thing which doesn't take away from the overall wonderful experience at rhe hotel. Its also not too far from a few majoy sights like the Geysir, Gullfoss and Krater. We will be back for sure!

Laura (8/5): - Beautiful unique location in a valley along a river surrounded by steaming mountains. On site restaurant was fabulous with some of the dishes cooked in the hotels hot spring. Service was excellent. The facilities seemed a little run down but clean. Pool was out of service but hot pots were excellent.

Carol (10/5): - A unique hotel with bedrooms and outdoor hot tub facing north so you can watch the northern lights from the hotel. At the edge of town with resteraunt and bedroom view over river and smoking hills from the local hot springs. The breakfast was amazing and staff helpful. We dined in the resteraunt a few times during our stay. The food is amazing but a little pricey. Much like all icelandic resteraunts. Some beautiful walks around the area. Would definately stay here again.

Their hot tubs have a gorgeous view of the river, hill, and steam from the neighbor’s hot spring. This would be the perfect spot to watch the northern lights from.

Jenny (4/5): - We had no hot water. I called at 7 AM and was told that a manager would come by in 5 to 10 minutes. Nobody ever showed so I called again. I was told that's they would work on it And that someone will get back to me soon. Again nobody did. I went down to the reception area after 30 min or so and was told that there had been something wrong with the water in that room and they were trying to fix it. I continuously was told it would be twenty minutes. After almost 3 hours, I was finally given the chance to shower in a different room. The delay really messed up our day. This was the hotel we were most excited to stay at. Breakfast wasn't great. The hot tub was also cold. The staff told me one thing about the hot water but told my fiancé something different. I was told that they depend on the geothermal activity and that sometimes we can't help nature. My fiancee was told that they are dependent on the city for water. Overall a really terrible experience.
Ingrid (10/5): - Property is absolutely beautifully located on the river with gorgeous views. To be able to sit in the thermal heated hot tubs along the river is such a treat. The restaurant has amazing food!
Tammy (8/5): - Location by the geothermal area, great northern lights area. Nice balcony. Comfy bed. Didn't care for the balcony door not having a handle outside. Almost got locked out. Desserts at restaurant were very good, didn't try the meals. Very helpful staff.

Jeff (4/5): - Room had no inernet and limited power outlets for charging devices. Dinner quality was very good but restaurant was understaffed - took almost two hours to complete the meal and we skipped dessert because it would have taken another 30 minutes. Also paid almost $400 for the night and it didn’t come close to matching Black Beach Suites for the same price. Very disappointed and would not recommend
Kathleen (6/5): - This location was very scenic. Breakfast was included and it was good. The accommodation/ room was ok. The bathroom was very small. The Lady who checked us in was not very knowledgeable about the tv/ stations etc. Also, we had a terrible time locking and opening our door. It seemed to need repairs. I did tell the front desk receptionist before we left.
Robin (8/5): - Accommodations were tight for 3 people. The main bed was comfortable but the pullout less so. Small bathroom. Delicious breakfast. We were mesmerized by the steam rising from the earth all around the hotel. Very picturesque. The river behind the hotel and the walking paths nearby provided easy access to a nice park and dining options. The hot springs where you can swim are an hour away.

Andrea (10/5): - This was my 4th stay at this property. One of my favorite hotels. We had two rooms in the newer building with balconies overlooking the river. Rooms were on the larger size with a decent sized bathroom. Comfortable beds. The highlight is the hot pots and hot pool, perfect for unwinding. The restaurant dinner is gourmet, and breakfast is wonderful with bacon and eggs, smoked salmon, and Icelandic fare and waffles. I could go back every year!

Emma (6/5): - We had high hopes for this hotel. The pictures made it seem so well maintained and polished but the spa amenities left us feeling underwhelmed. The sauna and hot tubs didn’t seem to be cleaned, there were bugs and leaves in the water. The sauna didn’t get as warm as most do and there were no towels on the towel rack and it didn’t look like it was cleaned from the day prior. The property in general didn’t seem to be maintained well. The rooms however were very clean and well maintained. Overall, it was an average stay for an above average price.

We highly recommend the onsite restaurant - the food was spectacular and served in a conservatory with a lovely view of the surrounding hillsides and river. Parking was convenient. We enjoyed our stay and wish we could have stayed longer.
Dan (10/5): Lovely nights stay whilst visiting the thermaos - We stayed here on a self drive Iceland tour. Nice room, right next to the river with views of the steam vents. At at the restaurant and the food was lovely and couldn’t fault what we had.
Christine (10/5): - Loved the traditional look and feel of the hotel and staff were very friendly. We ate a lovely meak there one night and food was great. Hot tubs were lovely overlooking the river and sauna which was well stocked with towels etc stayed open until midnight. View from our room was fantastic. Only thing not so good was the very strong onion/sulfur smell in corridor outside room and very small bathroom, otherwise we had a lovely relaxing stay.

Leilani (6/5): - The surrounding area is beautiful. There is a river with small waterfalls and several geothermal hot springs. The breakfast was basic. Fresh scrambled eggs and decent coffee is all I really need. They did have both. This hotel could really be a gem, but the layout is lacking in storage space. I say this based on dozens of places we have stayed that have been half the size, but made incredible use of every little crevice. There’s very little space to place items in the bathroom. A plus was that there is a separate little foyer when you walk in with its own door to it and the bathroom. So when you hang all of your clothes, or wet shoes in that area, you can close the door so that it’s out of view. I booked this hotel because breakfast was included and a view with outdoor space is high on my “must have” list. Natural light and fresh air play a huge role in my choices for peace of mind. I'm not sure if towels are expensive or if there is a shortage, but when my partner asked for 4 more towels for the next day, she handed 3 dirty ones to the housekeeper. I was in the shower, so the floor mat was in there with me. The housekeeper insisted on having all 4 (in that moment) in order to get four. So we had to wait until I dried off just to get a fresh towel. This felt very awkward, but we just went with it. Life is a gift. Verified traveler (8/5): Lovely hotel for one night - Beautiful rooms and lovely hot tubs etc. The room had poor ventilation and smelt awful the next day after having had a shower the night before. Would recommend for one night.

Joseph (10/5): - This is a unique property in that it is fully interactive with the geothermal environment. Most notably, the restaurant is almost exclusively served by geothermal cooking facilities and the chef, whom we met at both dinner and breakfast is so skilled at preparation, presentation and variety. The rooms are fairly modest and still comfortable with nice views of the geothermal fields. The bathrooms are a bit cramped but their use of shower stalls with collapsable walls was pretty ingenious.
Anne (10/5): - What a beautiful and unique hotel! We stayed only one night but it was very memorable, as the sauna and outdoor thermal pools were fabulous! The room, breakfast, and customer service were excellent as well :)
