Tom (10/5): One of the best values for a great hotel/resort in Belize. - Rooms were excellent, very clean and comfortable. The staff are off the charts friendly and accommodating. The restaurant has great food and very reasonable. The resort recently changed hands and the new owner has really made some great changes. The pool area is large and also has a large kiddie pool next to it. The patio overlooks the mountains and has exceptional views. It’s 5 minutes from the Myan ruins and 10 minutes from the San Ignatio farmers market. This is definitely a place I would recommend to anyone traveling in the San Ignatio area. We loved our stay.

Fahad (7/5): Decent resort in San Ignacio. - The staff is warm and welcoming, and both the restaurant and pool are excellent. However, the location is not within walking distance which is okay. It has nice views of the jungle as well.
Alexander (8/5): A good hotel out of the town - Quite a spacious room with comfortable beds, a spacious bathroom and a lot of sockets, air conditioning was also fine and a hot water was really hot, the breakfast was quite good as well. In the morning the water flow in the shower was very weak, breakfast is very expensive, in the morning it is very noisy when other guests leave their rooms, it is impossible to sleep. There is no help in delivering suitcases to the room, the hotel does not correspond to 5 stars at all, maximum 4.

marepsh (4/5): Very very uncomfortable - Was a horrible experience, not worth the price. The water pressure was the worst!!! We had a shared villa because original room we had booked was having water pressure problems. Share bathroom at the villa was no better. Experience was nit good.

Jerry (8/5): Really enjoyed a week at this establishment. - This property is under new owners and is now Garden Hills Resort. They are and have been doing remodeling. The rooms my brother and I had were very clean, had nice amenities, mattresses were really comfortable, pillows were great. The best part was the staff however. Everyone was very friendly and helpful! We both had issues with hot water in our rooms. We brought to their attention and it was remedied immediately. (Yes in the tropics, but water was still to cold to comfortably shower) They have a nice pool with the adult pool being infinity and the lower pool for children. They have a bar and snack area by the pool as well as you can order food from the restaurant there. The main restaurant is nice and has some really good food at a reasonable price along with a bar to go with it. They charged average prices and not resort prices as you would usually experience. The resort is just far enough out of town to be pretty quiet, but close enough that it only takes a few minutes to get to town by taxi, driver, or your own vehicle. It is also close enough that the tour companies that we dealt with will pick you up at the hotel instead of having to go to the normal meeting locations. One really nice point is a viewing deck above the pool area where you can sit to watch the sun rise and set, watch and listen to the birds, and have a nice cup of coffee or a drink. As I said all of the staff we interacted with and talked frequently with were absolutely amazing and were a big part of making a terrific stay. A few that were we had a lot of interaction with that were exceptionally kind and helpful (sorry if I have any of the spelling of names incorrect): Maralyn, Janelly, Javier, Albert, and Emily. They were our bartenders, servers, latte, and smoothie makers. Roy, the resort driver who is friendly, helpful, and full of advice. We had a lot of great times with him and enjoyed every minute of it. I honestly can’t think of anything that I really disliked about the property. With the new owners, it appears that they have plans to make it even better.

They also had water to refill water bottles which was a plus There is a dog that barks a lot. Most of the night and woke myself and other guests up quite often. Not sure if it’s a dog of another guest of another hotel or someone living there, but it was hard to sleep with it barking all the time

I understand it is in new management and look forward to staying there again to see improvements. It was worth the stay.

If you are going to stay for one day maybe max two and not utilize your room much then go if not find somewhere else to stay. The furniture is old and falling apart. If you will need air conditioning make sure you get smaller room as some of the larger rooms have small air units and the room will not cool. The internet is spotty. The food there at the hotel is no good and they are out of almost everything. The beds are hard as rocks.

Vanessa (8/5): - This is our second stay at Rumors. Overall, the property is clean, but definitely in need of maintenance. The shower could use some remodeling and fresh paint. The pool, which use to be an amazing infinity pool, was closed in and you no longer get a view, so it was a bit disappointing. However the staff is nice, the music and the drinks are still great, and it's a chill place to hang out. There's road construction going on, so there was dust everywhere, though that isnt the property's fault. We were basically looking for air conditioning and a place to stay out of the sun and rest. We got it!

Brian (8/5): A good budget choice for an excellent location - The staff were incredibly friendly and always smiling. Also the location high on a hill allowed for excellent views. The food was delicious and the cocktails were excellent. The property is old and the entire place could use refurbishment. None of this detracted from our enjoyment of the service and excellent location so near to many Mayan ruins and caves.

Laurie (6/5): Just ok - Good room. Terrible restaurant. Coffee was terrible. Pool was nice. However, loud music on Saturday until 3am! Could not sleep. Supposedly the owner threw a party! Hmmm. Not so nice for his guests. One night, went for dinner at 6:30 and the chef left. No nearby restaurants.

Carlos (6/5): Dissatisfied - Convenient. They don’t open their restaurant. Even if the reservation says that they have one. They are not aware of anything in the night. If you try to get help from the staff, nobody is there and nobody answers.

Tehri-ann (8/5): Very good - Enjoyed the size of the room and everyone was friendly. The area was good the vibe at the karaoke was really fun The remote batteries stopped working twice. The AC gave a bit of trouble so the room was a bit hot the entire time. Under the bed was dirty.

shirainem2023 (2/5): Worst hotel experience! - We had stayed at this hotel for 1 overnight. The electricity company had an outage and with that no water or a back up generator was at this big hotel that was booked out for the weekend. We called the number provide for assistance to inquiry about any water for us to brush our teeth, use the bathroom or take a shower but was advise that none was at the BIG BOOKED OUT HOTEL! so we verified with the front desk (Cristian) if the electricity came back the time for check out if we can stay and use the water to get ready. Cristian (front desk clerk) advise I’m sorry you need to check out at 11. I’m telling this young man that we need to shower and tidy up ourselves. He was so inconsiderate stating we can only be allowed until 12 with or without being able to take a shower, use the bathroom or brush our teeth. I requested that we will need to speak to a manager or someone hire because we this was insane. No consideration for none of the guest. People had to leave that way (no bath, use of bathroom or brushing of teeth). Don’t talk about the pool…it is cloudy and the walls have mildew all around. The kids section was filled with dirty. Over all, the electricity came back at 11 (check out time) we then advise (Cristian) that will stay and take a shower and get ready to leave. We did so IMMEDIATELY to leave that place and never returning. I don’t recommend Rumors hotel and there service. Sorry!
Laura (8/5): Very good - Pool was great, staff were attentive and helpful, view from the hilltop overlooking jungle was lovely. It’s a short drive into San ignacio so you ideally need a car. We didn’t eat here so can’t comment on the food. Drinks were good and reasonably priced. Room was a little small for five of us but We managed. I think the pool area would be improved if it didn’t have a roof over it so you could see out over the beautiful view from the water. Also the music at the pool was very loud, could have been a little quieter and still have had a good atmosphere.

Hoda (7/5): It’s an ok place if just travelling through for a short stay. Amazing staff!! - Great outdoor pool for the kids. Location- very close to the centre of town, if you have transportation. Good value for money. The music playing at the pool was extremely loud for my two under 3 kids, however when I asked to turn it down a bit they did- momentarily and somehow it went back up again. The rooms are pretty run down. But again value for money

Daniel (8/5): Clean. Cheerful and worth every penny. - Very accommodating and friendly staff. Food and drinks were good and quite reasonable considering it is a resort. Karaoke with the Saturday night crowd in the covered swimming pool and bar area was a wonderful, noisy, tone-deaf blast! We actually booked an extra night for less than online prices directly with the front desk. We were having too much fun and wanted to see some more things in the area. Cold shower in our Room 4 (in fairness, they had a sign saying it was farthest from the heater - where is it? San Ignacio? 🤣) There was nothing at this place that would ever keep us from coming back - in fact, we booked an extra night!

Edman (6/5): Pleasant - It is beautiful and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant was exceptionally good and very affordable. The pool is beautiful. This place has the most amazing jungle location and super convenient when you are heading to the many attractions in the area. From the look of the other places around, this is by far the nicest in the area. The bed was very hard and the mattress was quite lumpy. It should have been replaced long ago

Anonymous (10/5): If you’re looking for a nice quiet and kid friendly resort this is the place to go. - I love where the resort was located out of the city. It was really nice and quiet. They had a nice size pool that catered to everyone and karaoke on Saturday ❤️❤️. I recommend this resort it’s really affordable.I will be going again real soon. The staff is really nice and friendly, always a smile on their faces ❤️❤️. I was raised in San Ignacio so I love going home for the local food. I didn’t like that the only Belizean food was breakfast. Everything else was American food.

700hikmett (10/5): San Ignacio Special Retreat - We stayed here with my family of 5 (two young children and a grandma). Located slightly out of San Ignacio (maybe 3 miles) with a magnificent view. Rooms were large enough, facilities were outstanding. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The front office folks (Elmer and Joshua), the pool bartenders, the cleaning staff all were warm and did make sure our trip was satisfying. I would definitely stay here again.
Nomadturk (10/5): Quiet, comfortable stay at a place with wonderful people. - The view from the place (both from our balcony and from the raised walkway) was amazing. Pool and the rooms were clean. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. I'd stay here again. I think with the tropical climate and the heat, all rooms should have a mini fridge to store cold water/drinks/snacks etc.

A gem for exploring San Ignacio. - perfect location for exploring San Ignacio. the staff were so friendly and helpful. The hotel restaurant and bar were frequented by lots of locals which is always a good sign and it helped us get a much more authentic belizean experience. Thank you so much to Elmer, Aron, Dora and the rest of the team for a brilliant stay!
