Guest Reviews
- Sarah (9/5): -
- Michael (5/5): Average - Location Breakfast was really poor one piece of toast with two poached eggs for £10 no extra toast poor
- Heather (10/5): Lovely stay in a great hotel - The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The location was great. Right in the centre of Chipping Norton
- Steve (6/5): Room for improvement - Staff were really friendly and attentive and the pub is lovely. Breakfast for me, at 0730 is too late. My bed was not very comfortable, especially the pillows so I didn't have a great night's sleep. My shower head was really dirty and the extractor did t appear to work so after a shower the walls were soaking. I have stayed at The Fox a number of times and this time I was disappointed at £126 without breakfast, I was not happy with what I received for my money.
- ROBERT (10/5): Excellant staff.Great food very clean - Friendly welcome. The room was very clean. Good breakfast. Friendly professional staff. Excellent food in the pub. Nothing
- Ulrika (9/5): -
- Simon (10/5): Great food , location, excellent staff. - Comfortable room, good facilities.
Great breakfast and evening meal. Staff were very helpful , couldn’t do enough for us.
The Fox is very central , good location for the Cotswolds.
Chipping Norton is a great place to stay with cinema and restaurants. That the holiday came to an end.

- Adrian (7/5): Why not try... - Breakfast was adequate and good value. The room was quite small but clean. Beer was excellent. Had to cancel one day off our original booking but we were given a full refund. Bedside cabinet broken. TV reception terrible. Picture kept breaking up. Wife had fish and chips which she found undercooked however this was taken off the bill.
- Karl (3/5): Only stayed for one night even though we’d paid for two nights . - The fox is in a good location close to shops and cafes etc . The fox wasn’t particularly clean the towels didn’t seem to be clean . The bed was very uncomfortable and the pillows weren’t clean . It was very noisy during the night so we struggled to sleep .
- June (9/5): Would recommend - Comfortable room and bed. Very pleasant staff. Nice food. Good location and parking Noise transference from the room above. Able to hear every footstep and use of shower and taps. H & S issue - needed a caution sticker for temperature of water to wash basin - scalding hot.
- Atty (8/5): Een mooi verblijf!

- avril (8/5): Great all round - Great location

Thought it was a bit pricey. Food could have been better.

Good meal. Tiny room...on 2nd floor. Limited amenities. No place for luggage.
Tiny bathroom...no shelves, even in the shower for soap, shampoo, etc.
No seating (except the bed).

- Michael (9/5): Great staff and location - The Fox was very clean, in a great location and the staff were very helpful.
The free bottle of beer each day was a lovely touch. The pillows were a bit limp and I think breakfast should have been included for the cost of the stay.
- Jenna (10/5): -
- Benjamin (7/5): Good location and good value. - Location Annexe room - couldn’t shut outer door due to building works
- carmel (6/5): - The location and the staff The carpet was a bit grubby and there was a lot of noise from the pub and also the kitchen staff.
- Nigel (7/5): - When we stayed the kitchens were being refurbished so difficult to give a full review.
- Karla (10/5): - We loved our stay. Exploring the Cotswolds from Chipping Norton was easy and the proximity to other villages we wished to visit was great. We really enjoyed the restaurant and enjoyed dinner there both nights of our stay. The staff was very friendly and hospitable. Our room and the rest of the facilities were clean and comfortable.
- Lynn (7/5): - The bed was comfortable, the room was clean. The staff were helpful and pleasant. Location was very good. The room was outside of the main building, both mornings we were woken by workmen doing maintenance outside very early. As one day was a Bank Holiday we were very surprised that this happened. We were not forewarned about this. We were also surprised that the hotel could not provide skimmed or semi skimmed milk, surely a small ask these days?? It was a little pricey to not include breakfast.

- Carole (9/5): A great and comfortable stay - Comfortable room. Initially shower room seemed small but actually the shower was a very generous size. Dinner was excellent. Slight smell of damp in the shower room. On inspection this is coming from the tile grouting which needs to be attacked with some bleach and a toothbrush :-)
- Lee (10/5): -
- Olivia (10/5): -
- Sean (10/5): - Staff lovely, great location, Fridge please, a pain having to get flask of milk.
- Carl Hodgson (9/5): would recommend anyone wanting a nice short pub s tay - the staff were so helpfull all the time, the comfort in the room was ideal. parking excellent. the ongoing building works was a pain, but accepted that it has to be done.
- Collis (10/5): Perfect - Lovely place
- Tomwick25 (6/5): -
- Bethany (5/5): Ok - Clean and in good location. Live music was good. No hairdryer in room. Has to ask for one but was provided when asked. Staff all lovely.
Had power cut in the night - light shining brightly came on right above head in your face. Couldn’t switch it off. Had to call emergency number which took about 45’ins to sort it out. Not the hotel fault but poor night sleep after this.
Came
Downstairs next morning to leave and was asked
To pay.
Had already paid via booking.com. They didn’t know how this worked. Was almost re charged £155
- Paul (7/5): Not really worth the high cost - Very good location Our room was quite noisy from the bar below
- Aisling (8/5): -
- John (9/5): We stayed one night. The staff were exceptionally pleasant and helpful. We would certainly stay there again - Characterful, comfortable, central location, easy parking Kitchens were being refurbished during our stay so no meal service. However this is only a temporary issue.
The hotel offered coffee, juice, cereals, toast, and croissants.
- Moore (10/5): -
- Steph (8/5): A lovely, busy pub with rooms but our room was too small. - A great location in the centre of Chipping Norton. The room we stayed in was smaller than we thought as was the bathroom. The air-con unit outside was noisy during the night too.

- Heather (9/5): Short stay visiting local attractions perfect. - Location. Characterful staff All good.
- Leighton (10/5): Brilliant stay great place would go back - Brilliant stay exceptional food and drink .
The owner/manager is a great nothing was a problem. We would defo go back. Only small criticism is the speakers from the restaurant went on at 7:30am when it opened for breakfast even though at the low level downstairs in restaurant they can be heard in room one through floor as there mounted high level near ceiling . It Didn’t affect the first morning we was there as was up early to get out for the day but second morning as I wanted to lay in a bit they did.
- Antoine (7/5): - verwarming stond erg hoog, het was heet in mijn kamer
- Wayne (7/5): -
- Vikki (8/5): Cosy country pub with comfortable rooms - Cosy country pub with comfortable rooms. Loved the real fire and nice touches in the room. Restaurant was closed due to kitchen refurbishment but we had been informed prior to our arrival.
- Simon (10/5): Excellent stay at the Fox - Everything. Great room, very clean, plenty of tea and coffee.
Staff were excellent, very helpful, good food.

- Steph (8/5): -
- David (7/5): -
- Amanda (9/5): Thoroughly enjoyed my brief stay - made to feel very welcome and comfortable - breakfast - probably the best cooked breakfast I've had. Quality ingredients, cooked well. good coffee too.
room - bed and linen great quality. spacious and light, No shelf in shower for toiletries and, ditch the coffee bags! A bodum and proper coffee at this price.
- Stacey (10/5): Beautiful, peaceful place to stay with amazing staff - Amazing place from the get go from parking to being accommodated in the restaurant and the rooms
- Blake (8/5): Nice pleasant stay. - Friendly and helpful staff. Small bed. But the room overall would struggle to fit a larger one. Woken up by gardener at 0800.
- Darren (9/5): Very nice place, welcoming and professional staff - Breakfast lovely, good choice of food.
Dinner in the evening was excellent, staff very helpful and friendly.
Good location. Only one thing, could have had a choice of coffee in the room as it wasn't very nice ( minor problem though) just my opinion.
- Paul (9/5): -
- Jacqueline (8/5): Convenient for a family gathering, - Room was okay, comfy bed. Was able to access the room earlier to drop off luggage before going onto a wedding locally. Bathroom is tiny, could just about open shower door without hitting the toilet seat. Breakfast was extra cost on top of room rate.
- Jack (9/5): The perfect stay for a couples country retreat - Perfect location / very clean, rooms smelt lovely / breakfast & dinner was delicious / would definitely stay here again and recommend Service for breakfast was quite slow however the staff were all lovely
- michele (7/5): - The room was very basic for the money. Otherwise the pub is lovely with friendly staff and a very good breakfast. The rooms small and basic
- Laura (10/5): -
- Sean (10/5): -
- ELENA (8/5): -
- Michael (8/5): Spot on-lots to like and very little to dislike. - Comfortable bed. Good shower with tidy well finished bathroom. Staff were welcoming. Solid breakfast with nice ingredients. Better choice for evening menu would have been nice.
- Rosie (9/5): - The staff were great, the location perfect and the breakfast was fabulous
- Dianne (8/5): Enjoyable stay - Room was clean and adequate for our stay . The staff were helpful and friendly and the breakfast good for the price charged . We found the bed too small ,and the room being on the front a little noisy .
Our room was up two flights of stairs which I found difficult to climbing due to mobility problems but I should have stated this during the booking !
- georgeia (10/5): Fantastic! - Area is beautiful, pub is beautiful to look at inside and out, staff were really helpful and friendly even gave me a flask of milk for our morning coffees.
Room was lovely, so cosy, stupidly comfortable bed I've not slept so good in ages. Even a complimentary bottle of bitter, 2 cans of water and a bottle opener magnet which I sadly forgot to take home! We came to visit the hawkstone brewery which was fantastic I couldn't recommend this place to stay of visiting there, or the area enough. Thanks so much:) No complaints atall
- JESUS (9/5): BASTANTE BIEN -
