Guest Reviews
- Megumi (10/5): Exceptional - The staff was very kind, the room was very nice with a terrace, we had everything we needed, including parking place of the hotel.
- Radu (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bernadette (10/5): We would go back. - Staff and service were excellent. Very good breakfast provided. Convenient location for exploring the city.
- Jessica (8/5): Very good -
- Alison (9/5): Beautiful historical hotel in a magnificent city - Gorgeous historical property in a great location Parking nearby or hotel could organise parking Fabulous view from my terrace Helpful staff Being an historical property there was no lift and I was on the top floor. But that meant great view and some extra exercise
- Maria (10/5): Wonderful hotel, great location, very clean, delicious breakfast and wonderful staff. Would highly recommend and stay th - Wonderful property
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- Norman (10/5): Excellent location for visiting Montepulciano and surrounding area. - Outstanding location and service. The hotel team contacted us from the minute we made the reservation until we were checked in. Access to the hotel was restricted by a market on arrival. A hotel team member met us outside the old town gate and guided us directly to the hotel, assisted with our checkin and guided us to exclusive hotel parking. Our room was very spacious, well appointed, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Large recently updated bathroom. Despite being in the centre of the town, it was wonderfully quiet. We were there in October and were able to leave the doors to patio and windows open at night. No bugs! just beautiful Tuscan cool fresh air. There is A/C for hotter days. Full breakfast is excellent, lots of choice, food is fresh and delicious. The hotel team is like a family. They all work in different areas and they all remembered us. They were all super helpful helping us find restaurants, activities and best places to visit. Bring good walking shoes. Montepulciano is on a hill. The hotel is at the lower end. We loved everything. It is a historic building that shows it's graceful age in places. The overall service more than makes up for any age issues. We had an issue with our shower drain and left a note. We were contacted by WhatsApp messages and calls to make sure they had all the info. When we returned, not only was the issue corrected, every team member we met asked if everything was ok. That continued into the following morning at breakfast! Our expectations were blown away.
- Patrick (10/5): Lovely, wonderful historic hotel. Memories forever!! - Extremely charming historic hotel in center of old town Montepulciano. The hotel is beautiful with a delightful, historic atmosphere, every modern convenience and the most gracious, hospitable hosts you could wish for. Can’t wait to return and stay much longer next time!!!! Absolutely nothing. I just wish we’d stayed longer!!
- Robin (10/5): The hotel was perfect for my stay In Montepulciano! - Perfect location! Beautiful view! Very gracious and helpful staff. Good breakfast.
- Susan (10/5): A comfortable and welcoming hotel. - This hotel had so much character and the location was perfect. Our room had a huge terrace overlooking the Tuscan hills perfect for morning coffee and an evening cocktail. The hotel had so much of its history preserved in all the common rooms which made it very eclectic too and our host welcomed us with open arms and provided lots of tips for the town and area. The breakfast was substantial and delicious. The hotel is located steps from the gates of Montepulciano surrounded by restaurants and even a winery.
- Ektoras (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was perfect!!! Lorenzo is the best host!!!
- Carol (8/5): I recommend this hotel to anyone who appreciates the history within its walls. - The hotel preserves so well the feel of the families since it became a hotel. It is truly a slice of history. I had a room with a huge bathtub, which felt great after a long day of walking. The shower was good, too. The staff was friendly and helpful. They contacted a taxi to take me to my train -- a company they knew well. That was reassuring. As the hotel warns, there are substantial steps to all the rooms -- 2 flights for each floor. That was the only inconvenience.
- Bryan (9/5): Superb -
- Thomas (9/5): Superb - Location and staff I hesitate to complain because it seems all beds in Italian hotels are hard. This bed was on the hardest scale at 7. From 0 that is soft to 10 that is sleeping on the floor.
- Camila (10/5): Exceptional - The rooms were very nice, the viewa were superb.
The staff was very helpful, the day we were leaving there was a train strike and they helped us find other traveling options. They spent a lkng time in the internet, trying ti help us Nothing
- Melissa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stephanee (8/5): Very good -
- Julie-ann (8/5): Very good - No elevator and a lot of stairs if you are not able to walk them it would be difficult to stay here.
- Basden (9/5): Beautiful place, would stay again! - Great location and staff. Room was great. Breakfast
- Darlene (9/5): Memorable experience, the owner and staffs are accomodating and helpful. - Location, very good service, the staffs are very helpful with the parking and carrying our luggages. Delicious breakfast too. No elevator.
- Andia (7/5): Good place to stay within the city walls. - Great location. Very clean and good breakfast.
- Kathryn (9/5): Lovely stay in historic boutique hotel in a precious Tuscan village. - Location in the village, Free off-street parking. Balcony with sweeping views of the countryside, valley, mountains and lake. Lovely staff. Ample size room. In-room small fridge. Welcome bottle of wine. Nicely remodeled modern bathroom/shower design unfortunately the showerhead soaked nearby area of bathroom floor. During the nights loud footfalls could be heard up above, likely due to an older historical building. To clarify, these small issues did not diminish our enjoyment of the property.
- Edward (10/5): Good value for money - great hospitality - Staff were incredibly friendly and had enough English to help us get by.
Bed was super comfortable.
Room had a terrace - great for morning coffee / evening wine.
Location was great - right in the heart of the town.
- Braun (9/5): Location, location, location. And charming. I would stay here again. - Amazing location, good breakfast, nice staff, helpful with parking Room recently updated, but was missing a remote (can't remember if it was the tv or the air conditioning). Bathtub in the room was awkward. Bathroom very small (but updated).
- Michael (9/5): Superb - The hotel was perfectly located inside the walled city with parking available close by. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly.
- Joseph (10/5): Beautiful accommodations in an absolutely beautiful setting. - Beautiful historic building. Staff was warm and friendly! Was wonderful
- Joseph (10/5): We had a very relaxing and peaceful stay. - Room was spacious and the hosts and staff were so friendly and helpful. There was no lift.
- Edita (7/5): - - - -
- Tania (8/5): Very good -
- Erica (9/5): Charming hotel in excellent location - Located steps through the arches of the ZTL the property has a rich history. Great location for walking & catching the bus. Beautiful & unique finishes in every room made each stay, and meal feel special. Staff couldn’t have been friendlier or more helpful especially George!
- Mike (10/5): Very comfortable overnight stay in a spacious room with balcony. - Very clean hotel. Central location. Parking available. Breakfast included in room price. Nothing
- Bethany (9/5): This is a charming place to stay with wonderful and kind staff, clean and comfortable rooms. - Good location, comfortable room, and good breakfast. Staff was all very kind. Bed could be more comfortable
- Steven (9/5): Traditional hotel, very centrally located and good value for money - This is a very traditional hotel. Rooms are full of classic furniture and old features. The location is very central and it is good value for money. The staff are a bit crusty, but sort of match the hotel experience. The whole stay feels like you are in a different era, which is quaint. It’s like Basil Fawlty meets Italy in the 1950’s.
- Luciana (9/5): Great stay in Montepulciano! - Excellent location, conveniently offering parking, comfortable bed/room/bathroom/shower (great given how old the building/town is). And above all, very sweet and extremely helpful staff. I think it’s the best one could do in the town! It’s an historic building in a medieval town, so expectations need to be adjusted for such.
- Megan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marine (10/5): Everything you could wish for! - Everything was perfect! I recommended without a doubt.
The staff was amazing, the bedroom and the terrace was incredible! Perfectly located :)
- Angus (8/5): Very good -
- Karen (8/5): Very good -
- Daniel (8/5): Very good - The hotel was perfectly located, had parking inside the town (although only 5 spots for the guests), and the staff was very nice and welcoming Rooms are a bit old, and the shower was very small (yet very good)
- Jerry (10/5): Great stay at a wonderful hotel. - Had a wonderful stay at this family owned hotel. Superb location, clean and the two owners we interacted with (Mom & Son) were as polite as could be. The room was a nice size and we fortunate to have a beautiful of Tuscany. Breakfast was outstanding, eggs to order and a superb buffet along with juices and made to request coffees. You will be pleased if you book here. Nothing, this property fully met our expectations.
- Daniela (10/5): Go for it! - The place has great beauty and everyone there is really kind. It has a beautiful view and the location was key because you are inside the historic town, close to good restaurants, but also close to the rest of Montepulciano in case you want to use the bus or have a pretty walk. The personnel helped us a lot with recommendations and by making the reservations for those restaurants that don’t speak english. The room was really comfortable as well.
- José (10/5): Nice and cozy place to stay in beautiful Montepulciano - The location and the staff was wonderful. The breakfast, everything looked like it was there from days before.
- Esteban (9/5): Superb -
- Mica1984 (10/5): Charming albergo in the heart of Toscana - Everything was perfect! Erica, who welcomed us, is such a nice person! We felt immediately welcome and she gave us all the necessary informations with regards to the city of Montepulciano. The room was simply perfect - ours had a wonderful view of the gorgeous Toscana landscape! Don't expect a modern hotel - and I really don't understand how people can expect an elevator in a classified historic building - but it's charm is exactly what we expected and were looking for. However, the bathroom seems to be recently refurbished, which is definitely a good point. The rooms have A/C, which can be useful on hot summer days like those we spent in Montepulciano. The bed is very comfortable and the rooms are quiet. The excellent breakfast, made of local products, was served by two nice ladies who took care of everything. We definitely recommend this albergo and will return for sure!
- Darlene (8/5): Family vacation - Location and excellent service from check in to check out. Very helpful and accomodating staffs. No elevator.
- Victor (10/5): A great stay - The staff were lovely, it's a family owned hotel. Their recommendations were perfect and we had a lovely time. Nothing to say really, an elevator would be fab but I know how tough it is to make such changes with protected buildings.
- Djordje (10/5): Perfect - Perfect little hotel just at the entrance in the old town. Balcony and view are awesome and perfect to enjoy late glass of wine. Stuff are extremely polite and they will do anything to welcome you. Thanks.
- Cezarina (9/5): I would recommend - location, breakfast, free parking, staff
- Kathryn (9/5): Superb -
- Christine (9/5): Superb -
- Ronen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Steve (9/5): Superb - Location was fantastic. The room was spacious and clean. Breakfast was great. The bathroom was basically but functional.
- Dana (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ratna (8/5): Wonderful!! - Beautiful old building
Lovely helpful friendly staff
Nice breakfast No lift
Minimal porterage
- Adriana (6/5): I would not recommend this hotel for anyone having mobility issues or challenges as the city itself is very challenging - Proximity of parking and restaurants as well as winetasting locations. Zero view from the bedroom.
Air conditioner works poorly.
No elevators which makes it. difficult to bring luggage and down, to and from the 4th floor which is were all the bedrooms are situated.
The bedroom we had had a dresser with 4 drawers which was nice to have but the drawers couldn’t be opened because a key was needed . It was not practical for 4 people living out of a luggage for 4 nights.
- Deborah (10/5): 100 % satisfaction - The old world charm was in every aspect of the building. The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful!
- Marnie (10/5): Lovely hotel with great location to enjoy the town. The balcony rooms are amazing if you want to catch the sunrise - Very central with the options of validating parking which was a big sticking point for us.
We had a balcony room which was amazing to watch the sunrise. The staff were lovely also, we really enjoyed our time.
- Mario (10/5): Great stay and fantastic breakfast in Montepulciano - The location was perfect. The staff were very nice and super friendly, they made our stay great. The breakfast had great choice of fresh fruits, bread, cold cuts, cheese, and local tarts. Nothing.
- Toghrul (10/5): Exceptional - Nice location, close to the enoteca with underground museum, bars and shops. Service was great, staff was very friendly and helped us a lot!
- Michael (8/5): We enjoyed the hotel, staff, and location, and we will return - just not during the summer. - The hotel was beautiful, with a courteous, accommodating, and friendly staff. The room itself was comfortable, but the a/c unit was placed in such a way as to make cooling the entire room difficult. As the country was in the midst of an ongoing heat advisory, we understand the problem of cooling an older structure when outside temperatures are as high as 100 degrees F., but proper placement of the unit would help. The city of Montepulciano was beautiful. As seniors, the lack of elevators made access to the room tough, but as the structure was built in the 1500s, it was understandable.
- Shelly (8/5): Lovely stay in an old style Italian building. Exceptional staff and hosts! - The hosts and staff were absolutely lovely and so very helpful. It is an older and very quaint Italian style building. Really enjoyed that. Breakfast was perfect and lots to choose from
- Lilia (8/5): Very good -
- Samantha (10/5): Best location to walk out the door and have everything Montepulciano within steps. - Wonderful helpful staff made reservations for us for dinners and cooking class. Help parking the car in private lot. Quiet room & lovely views.
- Bogdan (9/5): Superb - The staff was very friendly and accommodating to our needs. Lorenzo was prompt communicating with us prior to our arrival and extremely helpful regarding parking arrangements considering the hotel is in a ZTL (Limited Traffic Zone). Thank you Lorenzo! The hotel is a historic building and does maintain that vibe (which we liked). Breakfast was included in our stay and was delicious.
- Vikki (9/5): Pleasant and delightful stay, with friendly staff! - On our arrival, we were met by very friendly receptionists, and Georgio, who helped my husband find the correct parking area for our rental car. As it was our 49th wedding anniversary, were were graciously given a complimentary bottle of wine! The newly renovated bathroom was sparkling and spacious. We had a great view over the piazza. The room itself was basic, and a tad aged, but clean, and the beds were comfortable...the most important aspect. The breakfast was fantastic, lots of choices. And it is a great location to be in Montelpulciano, as in the evening, the day trippers are gone and it is quiet and delightful to wander the streets in the evening. The hotel itself was a delightful configuration of rooms in a 14th century building! I suppose climbing the stairs to the fourth floor could be considered as not so great, however we found it wasn't an issue (and we're in our mid 70's).
- Julie (10/5): Most beautuful part of Tuscany! - It was a beautiful building with lots of character. It was situated right in the town, so a perfect location. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They helped us book a taxi, and carried wine glasses up to our room because our hands were full! Nothing
- Arion (9/5): Superb -
- Elizaveta (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cisenando (10/5): Exceptional -
- Julia (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect. Old historical building, nice location, extremely helpful staff.

- Thomas (10/5): Beautiful town with a very friendly charming hotel with lots of character - Great place to stay and wander the streets of Montepulciano. Great breakfast in the morning. The staff organized dinner and winery reservations based on their suggestions and they did not disappoint. It was a bit warm in the room but it was very hot outside nearly 100F
- Ken (10/5): Exceptional - Very friendly
- Ritchie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jen (9/5): loved the history and hospitality of this hotel - Amazing location, wonderful staff, comfortable and easy. nice buffet breakfast.
- Petule27 (10/5): Great stay in Montepulciano - We really loved our stay in this hotel - great location in city centre, close to everything - staff was very nice and lovely, breakfast was great as well, I would highly recommend staying here:-)
- Laura (8/5): Very good -
- Barbara (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gail (10/5): Albergo ll Marzocco was a wonderful place to stay while we explored Montepulciano for 2 days. - The hotel is well-situated at the bottom of the hill near the entrance to the town. Our room was comfortable and the air conditioning was great. The balcony afforded a nice view. The breakfast was wonderful, with lots of choices including fresh fruit, pastries, breads for toast, meats and cheeses, eggs cooked to order, juice, coffee and many others. There is no elevator, but they did have someone to help us get our luggage up to our room.
- William (10/5): Best 3 Nights spent in Tuscany ever. - Great location
Friendly Staff
Helpful Staff
Good parking
Great Breakfast
Clean.
- William (10/5): Best stay ever. Enrica was amazing. - Beautiful historic building in the centre of Montepulciano. The view of the tuscan countryside from the balcony was out of the world. The staff were amazing best we've ever encountered. George was super friendly and Enrica went above and beyond for us with amazing recommendations and even reserving us tours and tables for dinner. Could not recommend this place enough. Thank you for the best stay ever. Everything was amazing
- Cammie (10/5): Perfect step back in time with c - I can’t say enough about this place! So much character, so much charm, so much history! Staff went above and beyond to get us reservations, and point us to the right wineries, etc. We loved everything about it! I don’t like that people complain and no elevator or that it’s dated, etc. Go to another town! If you have mobility issues and can’t do stairs, this isn’t your place, but it is iconic and they are happy to help with bags if needed. Loved it and are grateful! Thank you!
- Mark (9/5): A perfect location in a beautiful town. - Were treated to a perfect, close parking spot to celebrate our wedding anniversary! The location was perfect as were the balcony views. Lovely breakfast and we met some lovely people from New Zealand there! There was work being done on the balcony below, so it was a little noisy- but has to be done sometime!
- Natasha (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brian (9/5): A great hotel in a central location in the beautiful town. - A beautiful location with friendly staff who made us feel very special on arrival nil
- Michael (10/5): Very welcoming, perfect location - The staff (especially Enrica) was absolutely incredible - very helpful and welcoming, especially when helping us deal with parking in the city. We had to shift hotels early in our stay, and we're very glad we stayed at here. The hotel was in a very walkable location, both to the older walled city and outside to more casual restaurants and bars. We also had an amazing view of the countryside from our room.
- Mark (8/5): Very good -
- Nabila (7/5): Good - Location was very central in village.
Breakfast was included and had something to suit everyone. No elevator and our room was on the 4th floor.
Only one PowerPoint in the room & this needed a specialised adapter.
