Please be sure to check for road closures during winter months. Highway 120 (Tioga Pass) typically closes from late October until late May. When the Tioga Road is closed, it is not possible to drive to Tuolumne Meadows or enter Yosemite National Park from the east. All other park entrances, including those along Highway 120 from the west, Hetch Hetchy, Highway 140, and Highway 41, remain open all year.Guests are required to show a photo ID and credit card upon check-in. Please note that all Special Requests are subject to availability and additional charges may apply.

- John (2/5): I’m sorry I stayed; I left early; I won’t return. - There were evident attempts to fix up the room; the paint and fridge seemed good; the bed seemed good; the bedding needed immediate replacement. The smoke alarm was missing and the wire hung down. The window was unlocked. The blinds did not close for privacy. The door and lock were alarmingly flimsy. I wondered if I would be found murdered. The manager was off-site; a live-in worker had children running wild. A dicey displaced trailer community was across the street. And the room rate should have been much lower.
- Laurie (2/5): - Right off of the highway. Park in front of room door. Area was nice. Had to go to separate location for room key. When I got back with my key, the room was not ready so the lady cleaning the rooms gave me a different room that was clean. Bed was uncomfortable. Mattress was dirty. The TV was brand new but was not working because it was the wrong remote control. Lady cleaning the rooms went and found the correct remote and still could not watch it because every channel I tried said I had to rent or buy to watch. There was no trash can. The lady had to get me one. There was lots of commotion and construction going on which they apologized for. Was woken up at 330am with people taking very loudly out side. Early in the morning around 630am I got up for coffee and a random guy was hanging out in front of the room 3 doors away from mine he knocked on that door but nobody answered but kept hanging out anyway

Appreciated the luggage stand in the closet, it was helpful. Absolutely perfect location for exploring the area. Close to the downtown (walkable) and easy drive everywhere else. The peephole was missing glass, so they just shoved a plastic bag into the hole and it was hanging out. The bathroom window was incredibly difficult to open, and the bathroom was damp and musty due to the air not being circulated.

- Patrick (2/5): - I’ve stayed at El Rancho Motel multiple times and always had good experiences—until now. When I arrived, I was told they were overbooked and there was nothing they could do. No one contacted me ahead of time. I was told since I booked through Expedia, they should have notified me, but I never received any message. The motel told both me and Expedia they would cover the price difference for another hotel. Unfortunately, all hotels in Bishop were full, and the closest available was in Mammoth, where the cheapest option was $568 for two nights—more than double my original $230 booking. I live four hours away and didn’t have any camping gear, so I had no choice but to book it. I called El Rancho right after, but was sent to voicemail and never got a call back. This all happened around 9 PM, making it even more stressful. I’ve always been courteous, loyal to Expedia (30+ bookings a year), and careful with my reservations. This situation was extremely aggravating. The least El Rancho could have done was notify me when they realized they were overbooked. Expedia or not, it’s about common courtesy. I’ve liked this property in the past, but after this, I no longer trust booking them through Expedia. I hope they follow through and contact me.

- Patricia (8/5): Great small old fashioned motel - Good stay, in spite of the issue at check in. We were staying at El Rancho hotel, got an email to check in at Trees motel, which we did for our key and talked to a gal who told me where I’ll ranch was ( .5 mi). We got ther and ther was no room number 108 (our room number). I called the number and they apologized and said someone was supposed to call me to let me know I was changed to Trees motel ( which we just left) due to plumbing issues. I received no call. We went back to Trees motel and there was room 107! You would have thought the girl looking at the envelope with my key in it would have known! Anyway the room was lovely, clean and the bedding was comfortable. The walls were very thin. The 4 people staying on one side of us had a lovely conversation and many laughs which we had to listen to, and the person on the other side snored all night! Other than that it was a lovely comfortable room maybe better insulation in walls between rooms???

If you want a shower that either turns you into an ice cube or gives you third degree burns, you will love it here. If don’t have neck, back or hip pain yet, stay on these beds and you will. I have more negative things to say, but I think you get the picture.. I will say the woman working on the property was super nice and did what she could.

- Kathy (6/5): - We've been coming to El Rancho during the past 5 years. It is an older motel, but the basics are usually done well. For 2 years, you have to drive to another hotel to check in and to call regarding needs. Monday:There was a chair missing at the dinette table and no bath mat. They said they have cable but we could not get the Dodger game on ESPN. On Tues. we called to request fresh towels, a bath math and about trouble accessing the cable. In the afternoon Jason came and was able to set it ESPN for the 2nd game and delivered fresh towels. The janitorial staff on site (Cara)was very helpful, As much as we appreciated our previous visits here, we will be going someplace else for our next trip to Bishop. There were too many things wrong: missing mat and chair, or difficult to get(cable).

- CANDICE (4/5): - I was upgraded to a bungalow after I had to drive to a different hotel to check-in (this was before 8 p.m., so I don't believe I would be a late check-in). The bungalow had no lighting outside and was very dark. Overall, the bungalow was actually very nice but there were what appeared to be dirty towels and the bathroom smelled like mildew, although it appeared clean. The manager did her best to accommodate me but seemed like she was experiencing a staffing crisis, and I am wondering if this is why there were dirty towels. Also, the key from the previous occupant was still there. I am not sure how this place would be if more organized/better staffing.

- RICHARD (10/5): - Stephanie was great! Check in was easy and quick.We appreciated her help. The room was clean and quiet. Parking was right in front of the room and that made it easy to unload and load the car. We were able to get off the road and relax. This is our second stay here and both stays were wonderful. We will definitely look to stay here again in the future.

- Kimberly (4/5): - Currently you cannot check in at that property, you have to check in at another nearby location. Not a big deal. I noticed a plumbing snake outside a room across from ours and it seems the property has plumbing issues all around. There is a “No Vacancy” sign lit, but the location seems to have empty rooms. The rooms are clean and nice, the staff is very warm and kind. The bed was comfortable, but very squeaky any time either one of us moved. The recently painted motel has incredibly vibrant color choices that seem to clash wildly with the rustic surrounding area. One hand towel, one wash cloth in the room. I’m sure we could have gotten more, but I wasn’t sure management was on the property and I didn’t want to bother them. The location is enough off of the beaten path that it was very quiet. I was a little surprised that the doors were not solid core wood doors, but seemingly hollow interior doors. While the rooms have horizontal blinds, there are no blackout curtains and it’s pretty bright. We used the extra blanket and hung it to help darken the room, but the blanket only covers so much. Also, our blinds didn’t fully reach the window ledge and we rolled up a couple of t-shirts along the bottom to keep anyone from being able to see into our room. Other than that it’s not bad and like I mentioned, the room was very clean and the staff was great and friendly.
- Michael (2/5): - It started off by I me get an email asking me to go to their sister hotel to check in that there was no one at the office at the hotel I was staying at. Then the maid, letting us put our luggage into the room because it still was not completed yet and informing us that they will put the key into the dropbox that they have to continue finishing the room that night upon coming back. There was no key however there was a key to a completely different room. Which we were forced to stay into with no luggage or toiletries the next day the hotel management apologized and said that there was a confusion with the maid, and she took the wrong key. Once we finally got into our hotel room. The toilet was clogged it would not flush for 2 days. We complained about it and it was not until the third night of our 4 day stay did they finally get it fixed? Avoid this hotel at all cost

- Annette (4/5): - The property is in a run down residential neighborhood next to old RV housing and many residents just hanging around. There wasn’t any staff on the property and a note on the door to check in at their other property. At the other property, the staff member at the desk was very kind and helped me get a refund and not stay the night as reserved because I didn’t feel safe with just me and my little dog.

- Cami (2/5): - If you don’t have time to read this post, just read this part: DON’T BOOK this place! I’ve made reservations for a bungalow 2 months ahead. The day we got there we were told the check in is at a different place because of some renovations (didn’t notice any work in progress though). We got there and found out they don’t have our room anymore, they gave it away! so they gave me a smaller, cheaper room. Drove to this motel in the middle of nowhere by the Edison antennas. It looks NOTHING like the pictures you see here on Expedia! It’s painted in purple and yellow and green…an eyesore! We got into this extremely small room where they had a kitchen older than me. The bathroom: a whole in the wall with some green tiles was supposed to be the shower. The toilet would not flush! We called and they sent a guy who was trying hard to fix it while we were there-no success. We went back to the motel where we did the check in to ask for another room. There was a long line of people who were mad because they got confirmed reservations and there were no room for them… needless to say they didn’t have another room for us. It was this busy weekend when we couldn’t find a room anywhere else around, so we ended up canceling all plans and driving back home-4 hours away! Some places should be reviewed by Expedia and make sure they meet the standards for traveling. This is definitely not one of them!

- Timoberly (2/5): Dismal in every way. - I trust that people like me rely on Trip Advisor for honest advice, so I am compelled to say DO NOT STAY HERE. Yes,it’s inexpensive but spend a bit more and stay elsewhere. It’s a litany of reasons why I say this but the best example is when I noticed that the keys to several of the rooms (including mine) were sitting out on the ice machine in the parking lot. No one around.
- Kazushige (2/5): - Bishop Inn 1/5 Terrible I made a reservation for this facility the day before. When I arrived on the day, there was one employee there who told me, "It's not open at the moment. It's scheduled to reopen in August." I told them I had made a reservation, but they said it had been refunded, so as long as it wasn't open there was nothing I could do so I booked another facility. The accommodation fee was deducted from my credit card, what a careless company Expedia is. Selling a facility that isn't open and then conducting a survey on top of that. Please refund my money immediately.

- RICHARD (10/5): - Stephanie was AWESOME! We were running behind and she made sure to put our key in the afterhours and reassured us that all wouldbe ok. We called early in the day and again around 8 oclock ar night and she answereboth times very quickly and made us feel comfortable. The room was very nice and we enjoyed the kitchen. Overall avery peaceful and restful experience. We will definitely benack another time! 😊

- Alex (2/5): - Walking into the room, had a strong smell of mold. The shower was moldy, and the smell permeated the whole room. There were bugs on the walls. There was a coffee maker with creamer, etc. but no coffee. The soap/shampoo dispensers in the shower were broken. The office is never open so you need to go to another motel to check in and get your key. On the plus side, the bed was not too uncomfortable and the room seemed somewhat clean other than the bugs and mold. The window A/C unit worked okay.
- Rosemarie (2/5): - I was there for only 45m. We got in late, had to drive to a different location to pick up my keys. When I went in and took a shower and went to go to the bathroom, the toilet did not fully flush. I had to flush a few times for just pee

- Kylie (10/5): - Was clean and cute! Walking distance to a lot of places on the south side of town. Easy and exactly what we needed. Internet/streaming was a bit slow, but that was minor.
- Martinez (7/5): The bungalow is a clean and comfortable place to stay while exploring the eastern sierra valley - Location was great. We watched the city’s firework show from the corner of the street. Coffee and bakery with in walking distance. The bungalow was as described. Nothing more nothing less. No frills, but it absolutely fit our needs perfectly. Comfortable and clean. Wobbling ceiling fan

- Kurt (4/5): - Great seamless check in process! However, the rest was history as we were greeted to beds with brown color stained sheets, a non functioning air conditioning unit, and dirty mugs that were not usable.

- Ting (8/5): Chaotic check in but good stay - When we first arrived we were told to pick up the key from a sister property. I got the key, opened the door and found someone else’s belongings. I was confused and as I just walked out the door and locked it, an elderly couple yelled at me asking me why I was lurking around their room. I showed them the envelope for the key and we were both confounded. Contacted the property manager and she was very apologetic about the incident, explaining that I had the master key and my room was double booked. Eventually we got a different room to stay for the night. Stephanie was polite and helpful despite the incident.

- martyk893 (2/5): Avoid the motel - This is a poorly run cheap hotel lacking in basic maintenance. Here are some issues: The house keepers threw out our lunch which was in the refrigerator. The porch light was broken. A towel rack in the bathroom was broken. The area under the bathroom sink was filthy. There was only one bedside nightstand. A handle on a dresser was broken.

- rocio (6/5): - Check in was super easy. They don’t do late check-ins but you can get your key at nearby motel. Room was ok. You can see them trying to make it cute with small details but my biggest concern was the door. I couldn’t for the life of me get it to close/lock at first because the bolt wouldn’t go inside the plate. I basically had to slam it close to finally get it to work. Air conditioning worked well for a 95 degree day. Bed sheets were nice and soft but bed itself wasn’t the most comfortable. They had an ice machine right outside just wish they would protect the scoop a bit better. Could have been a bit cleaner but I did get a “cheaper” motel. Their sister hotel Trees motel has a fire pit for the evening which was cool but this lot was more spacious for car and quieter. What I do love about motels is being able to park right in front because i always forget things in the car and rather do small locals then bigger chains when i can. Just not the nicest of the ones I’ve done but also not the worst!
- Marco (2/5): - Worst experience ever. Dirty room, bathtub had some stains of I don’t know what, bed headrest had some sort of liquid stains on them. No coffe for the coffe maker, no hand soap, blind didn’t close properly cause it was Brocken. Had to put a blanket in the window to cover the light, only 1 roll of toilet paper for 4 people, we had to buy our own and we found dead roaches in the floor. And you can’t ask for anything cause the checking was in a different hotel so there was no one at the place to ask for stuff. By the way, we found old socks in one of the drawers and the set of Keyes that they gave us weren’t even the same.
- Norman (2/5): - I did not stay. The place needs a lot of work. Windows are not secure. There was no one from the motel on the premises either. I was also the only person on the premises at 7:30pm. I got another room close by. I went to the Tree Motel to return the keys. The manager said she would contact Expedia about refunding the fee.

- Verified traveler (2/5): Do not recommend - This place was incredibly disgusting. The moment we opened the door, we were hit with a wave of stench that was nearly unbearable. There were gnats in the room, on the table; we had to eat outside.

- April (6/5): - The staff was so kind and helpful and it’s walkable to Rusty’s Saloon and other dining and shops. The major negative was how dirty and run down the room was. It was so uncomfortable unfortunately.

- Jocelyn (5/5): It was dirty and the staff was questionable - When we checked in, the bathroom wasn’t clean. I was so tired the first day we checked in and we always bring our own towel so it didn’t matter. The second day I had too much going on and didn’t wanna fight with front desk, she seemed so off. But it wasn’t cleaned. I have pictures of when we checked in with times

- Kelly (4/5): - When checking in you had to go to a different location. The office was messy and felt uncomfortable checking in with its condition. The room we had was a suite. The room was 'off site' from the actual motel and was a small apartment building. We had a bottom floor room. I've never been in a room with such poor insulation between the floors. We could hear every step in the room above. It was awful! The beds were like sleeping on plywood and they were very short. My entire family had a poor night's sleep. The baseboards in the bathroom were caked with filth. There were two forks amd three spoons in the kitchen for a room that slept 8. I would not stay here again.
