Guest Reviews
- Iradukunda (8/5): - The bed, mattress, and sheets are very good, and the room is very clean. Location
- Leonie (10/5): It was fun to stay at the hotel royal plaza - I would like to stay at the same hotel someday Nothing
- Joshua (2/5): - The whole building reeked of cigarette smoke and cleaning agents. The rooms were unbearably hot.
- Logan (2/5): -

- Monique (1/5): Would not return - Downtown Room smelt like cigarette and urine
- Anand (1/5): very bad experience will never stay here again - there was nothing good about this place there was a bad smell in the entire hotel, a lot of things were broken there was no toilet paper holder, the bedsheets smelled bad and the pillow covers had burnt cigarette marks the heating was also not working the room got really cold at night, the curtains where broken over all very bad the room walls and ceiling had stains there were sketchy people lined up in front of the hotel door which was kept closed all the time and only one person at a time was allowed in as if they were given some kind of drug but I am not sure what was going on thee it was very scary
- John (8/5): Comfortable; adequate - Surprisingly quiet for the location. If you get a room facing the courtyard you hear none of downtown. Staff were good hosts, quick and friendly.
Giant Tiger and the LC are walking distance. It's easy to get snacks and groceries. Every bus you need is right outside with one directly to the airport and back. Most of downtown's entertainment is walking distance also. You ever been to a Salisbury House that hasn't been renovated since before they banned smoking indoors? It's got that feel, look, and smell to it. It didn't bother me that bad but it was definitely present.
The control knob for our register fan was a... chimney from a bic lighter. There didn't appear to be any way to turn off the radiator so the room got a little warm.

- Jack in Calgary (3/5): If you have kids with you, don't stay here. Pretty rough joint, inside and out. - We both liked the location because it was central downtown and everything we wanted to do was within walking distance and mostly within 10-15 minutes. What didn't we like? OMG, so much to report. Paid for a room with two queen beds but there was only one in the room. The carpet is thin and hard and sticky. There's something going on at this hotel we couldn't quite put our finger on: quite a few scrungy-looking residents hanging around the entrance, who come and go and yell up at their friends/enemies at all hours night and day. Parking options are by the hour, so that might have been a clue. Housekeeping is hit or miss: the bed was made and the garbages emptied each day but the used paper coffee cups got taken and not replaced. Had to ask for two hangers for our coats. My wife cleaned some sort of dried-up God Knows What off the bathroom counter on our third day (it wasn't from us) so who knows how long that was there. We opened the fridge to put two bottles of water inside, and some frozen-solid open package of cheese fell out on the floor. We didn't even touch the microwave out of concern for how long ago it may have been cleaned. The 'restaurant' on the main floor is a dark, disorganized ex-coffee shop where lots of opened and empty cardboard boxes seem to be stored in the kitchen area. We didn't go in during our stay but the front desk guy gave us our two coat hangers off the coat rack in there.
- Lorne (10/5): Fantastic - Lorne - Great service by the front desk - First Rate All good !!
- Luis (1/5): - It’s a very poor environment! Drugs addicts all around! I had to cancelled my bookings! Which want my money back!

- GBOLAGUNTE (1/5): -
- Craig (10/5): -
- Sledz (4/5): - The checking out. Everything from the sketchy individuals in front of the entrance, you have to bang on door to open, meanwhile staff is hesitant to open door to let you check in and this is at 9:30 pm, no restaurant or vending machine with anything edible
Basic room, old stiff beds, blankets with cigarette burns, floor wasn't vacuumed, food from previous visitors under bed
The room was offered online for $70 the taxes and booking fees made total $125
That's not right!!
Another hotel in EK i paid $90 and fees and taxes made total $102
The Royal Plaza is a scam
- Olivier (1/5): Horrible et trop cher! Le pire des deux mondes. - L'emplacement me convenait.

- Brian (1/5): Regrateful. Online advertising doesn't show the reality of the location - I didn't sleep at this location. I arrived just infront of the location pple where doing drugs and no safe place to park my car. Went at the back it was horrible. Very dirty Nothing

- Amber (3/5): Poor -
- Pitts (5/5): Passable - People in the bar adjacent to it. Are shady and r a pain in the butt to say the least.
- Ryle (3/5): Poor - Night staff awful
- Elinor (1/5): Will never do that again! - Nothing. There was nothing I liked here. My room did not have an inside lock on the door. I pushed a small piece of furniture in front of the door for safety. The cleaning standard was well below mine. I wiped surfaces when I arrived, including something dubious stuck on the bedside table. The thin blanket did not look like it had been cleaned in forever. Overall an icky substandard room that was not worth the $124 I paid for the night.
- Evan (3/5): Kinda sketchy, but I'm here to write the review - The staff were friendly, and offered good advice like "don't leave anything in the car" The fact that there were cigarette burns on the bedsheets, a bag of unidentified substance in one of the dresser drawers, no curtain on one outdoor window. I get that it's a fairly sketchy part of the city, so I'm not really bothered by that fact. There was no lock on the door, and despite having a space heater, the room felt rather cold. Not really sure if the phone was hooked up as I hadn't tried dialing anyone, however, there was no dial tone when I picked up the receiver. No internet password was provided, although mind you, it was never asked of.

- Og (1/5): Terrifying experience - no breakfast It is miserable shithole. I felt i got robbed by wasting my $125 there. i never slept. place deplorable. I wouldn't even allow my dog to sleep in their rooms for free. That is not a hotel
- Graham (1/5): Terrible. Smelly, worn-out. Surrounded by persons who are un-housed. - Nothing. Arrived at the property. The reception was shabby. I asked to view the room before committing to stay. The room was smelly, worn-out , mismatched furniture. Not somewhere you want to spend the night. I left and found another hotel.
- Summer (4/5): Overall not what website says or shows - Workers were very friendly and quick to let us in late at night even when other people who weren’t to be in the property were at the front door Property needs updates and new blankets blankets had cigarette burns even though it was a non smoking room, some was aiding around the backside when we arrived
- Kelsey (4/5): Disappointing -
- Edwin (3/5): Uncomfortable and non restive. - None Mould in bathroom, single bed blanket had cigarette burn holes, room dirty, cold , noisy, lumpy uncomfortable mattress.

- Hanton (7/5): Nice clean confaratable and reasonable - The size of the room was beautiful and the factor the the price was descent and my room.had a sauna light in the bathroom No heat in.the room but otherwise good
- Wesley (2/5): Well it was one of the only places that wasn’t sold out on a long weekend - The name sounds good Way to many lower class people around downtown area worry about my vehicle all night in case it was broken into
- Olayinka (10/5): Exceptional -

- Isaac (5/5): It’s gross and dirty but cheap - It was cheap No breakfest, pet pigeon in the dinning area with poop everywhere, staff constantly treating you as a homeless person. If there was no vlt’s and bar was closed, they wouldn’t get so many drunks fighting
- Edder (8/5): excellent value for money if you want to run errands close to downtown - GOOD HOTEL SERVICE the only negative aspect is the surroundings of the hotel due to the number of homeless people that can be seen.
- Shannon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Overly (6/5): Pleasant - Great location in downtown. But needs to work on overall Presentation Hallways were dirty. And overall interior upkeep. My room's TV remote was missing batteries.
- Maninder (8/5): Very good -
- Matthughes (7/5): a short sentence to sum up your stay - 2 or 3 sentences 2 or 3 sentences
- Lally (4/5): Disappointing - Housekeeping
- Overly (7/5): Good - Very pleased with downtown location and afforability. Was nice to be in walking distance from the mall and many local stores and resturant. Unfortunately, I had a difficult time. Understanding the staff do to the vocabulary.
And accent that they used. They told me my room number was 311 and I kept hearing 3 level due to their accent. This Caused me to have to ask for my room number Multiple times till I finally understood
- Jonathan (3/5): Poor - Easy to get there Sketchy people and drug addicts right in front of the entrance, rooms were poorly cleaned
- Luisito (5/5): Passable -
- Rushikumar (2/5): Very poor -
