However, the restaurant is not opened “during the weekday” so this service isn’t offered, making it inconvenient if you were looking to enjoy an evening settled in your hotel. Also, some days of the week breakfast is not offered at the restaurant so they will bring it to your room. No personal toiletries…..shampoo is the same as body wash they said, no conditioner. Towels are very numbered. Very little outdoor lighting at night. Most posted hotel pictures of restaurant or lighted cabin porches is not what you get. Quiet and peaceful though.
• Jacqueline (10/5): A Hidden Gem in La Fortuna – Truly Unforgettable! - I recently stayed at Brisas and can't say enough good things about this place! From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed and right at home. The view of nature on the property was unbelievable! I stayed in the newest building C7, and it was absolutely beautiful– the highlight being the new front and rear patio with a nice hammock where I spent peaceful moments soaking in the surrounding nature and view of the Volcano. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy a morning coffee or relax in the evening while listening to the sounds of the jungle. The owner is one of the warmest and most genuine people I’ve ever met while traveling. He personally greeted us, shared local tips, and made sure we had everything we needed – he truly treats you like family. The front desk staff were equally fantastic – always helpful,kind and attentive. Whether we needed tour recommendations or had questions about the area, they were ready with a smile and great advice. And let’s talk about the breakfast – it was delicious, freshly prepared, and served in a lovely open-air area where you can watch colorful birds nearby while you eat. A perfect way to start each day in paradise. If you're visiting La Fortuna, Brisas is your best option. It combines comfort, hospitality, and the beauty of Costa Rica in the best possible way. I immediately extended my stay by 3 days as soon as I saw my room! Special shout out to the property pups, Roxie, Molly, Sammy and Cookie for being great company during our stay. -Golfiteño

A short hiking trail on the premises. $10 to buy breakfast which we did not pay for but there was a nice breakfast area so I’m sure it would have been nice. There was a small coffee maker and fridge in the room so we made our own coffee and enjoyed it sitting outside on the porch. Highly recommend!

We ate twice at the Soda Tita Rosa down the street for dinner and really enjoyed the family that ran it and the closeness to Brisas. We were incredibly happy with our choice to stay at Brisas and highly recommend it.

• Ralph (10/5): Great place! - We had a perfect view of the Arenal Volcano right from our porch. Very quiet place with lots of birds. The gardens were beautiful on the property. We had a car so it was a short 5 min drive to La Fortuna.
• ricky (6/5): I’d avoid with families - It was a funny stay at brisas. There’s no denying that the setting is amazing. You really do feel immersed in nature and it’s very peaceful. I found the staff pretty hostile and not very welcoming, especially the receptionist. It feels a bit more like a self catering lodge than a hotel. The room was dated, like it hasn’t been touched since the 70s but it was still clean and comfortable. With the air con it was either cold or very cold, difficult to get a happy medium. We had a blocked drain in the toilet one afternoon, through no fault of our own. And when we told the receptionist he just said ok I’ll send someone to sort it. No one came to sort it until the cleaners came the next day and all they did was clean the dirty pan. The toilet was never actually unblocked. Maybe this is a normal occurrence. Having to order breakfast at reception the night before was annoying. I’d understand if it was some lavish breakfast, but it was literally just rice eggs and toast. Not sure why this needs ordering in adavance. We forgot to order it one night so ended up skipping breakfast the next day through fear of upsetting staff by just turning up. Be aware there is no pool, a photo on hotels.com looks like a pool although after re reading I didn’t see anything saying there was a pool so this is as my error, but there def isn’t one. Also be away if you book as a family or more than two people, weirdly you only get 2 breakfasts included in the room rate. We were a family of 5, @ $9 each

Lots of birds and a nice hiking trail right on the property. We loved our stay there and would gladly return.

The staff isn’t very friendly, with the exception of the gentleman who prepares breakfast and knows about birds and coffee. There’s a young lady who yells every morning, arguing loudly without caring about anything. She has no knowledge of customer service whatsoever. Being the owner or the owner’s daughter doesn’t give her the right to yell as if she were in her own backyard. She argues everywhere, her voice and yelling are heard all over the place. The breakfast lacks flavor; only the bananas and coffee are good. Hopefully, they can focus more on the customers and provide a friendlier and more cordial service.

Our reservation covered 2 breakfast, so we just had to pay $9 for the extra person (we are a family of 3). The only thing I would complain was the walls are thin, so if you have a noisy neighbor, you can hear everything. But this was not the hotel's fault. This was our first 2 nights in Costa Rica, so we didn't realize that you are not supposed to throw tissues in the toilet, so it clogged up badly just before we checked out which we felt so bad, we told the front desk, and he was nice about it and said he will inform the service. I would definitely recommend this place to other travelers!

We did not have time to walk the grounds, but it was impeccably maintained with lots of flowers. We also saw a sign for a trail connected to the property (?), but did not have time to ask for further details/check it out. The breakfast area is surrounded by beautiful gardening and visited by various birds (they do not encroach into the breakfast space and are very nice to look at). The room was very practical with comfortable beds. We found the non-graveled ground to be a bit squishy and muddy after rain (made it slightly inconvenient to bring in luggage/walk to our car), but this seems to be par for the course in the area. There is a restaurant on-site open for dinner, but we did not eat there. Breakfast was a good value at $9.

The accommodations are very thoughtful, 'rustic comfort' (best A/C we had in CR, ironically, given we also stayed at resorts twive the price and half as lovely!), And the staff are wonderful. Exceptional breakfast (all delicious but the French toast is incredible), and the owner was so thoughtful, taking time to chat every day at breakfast. And to top it all off are the adorable property 'mascotys--several dogs (Molly and Roxy were our faves--Molly would even wait for us outside our door in the morning!)--not to mention Matilde the tame wild parrot! Can't recommend this beautiful, family run property it highly enough.

• Truc (6/5): - We stayed in cabin C5 and the room is spacious and clean. We did have 3 issues (1) the very firm bed which felt like we were sleeping on the spring box and not a mattress; (2) the bathroom door creaked so loudly that we were certain it woke up all our neighbors and the animals outside when we used the bathroom at night and (3) the shower water never got hot, just warm. If you don't mind any of these then the place is fine and a good value for the money.
• Lori (10/5): - Beautiful gardens and view of arenal volcano. Loved the hiking path on the property (about a 30min. Walk to complete the trail). Nice breakfast area with view of bird bath that attracts many different kinds of birds. Breakfast was not included in our stay, so we only had breakfast on site once.
• Eric (4/5): - A major disappointment. No staff, no service. Reception amounts to handing over the key and off you go unescorted down the hill to your accommodation. Room was not bad, reasonably comfortable and furnished but lacked hot water. Cable television never worked during our three night stay.. No bar or food available during the day. Small restaurant with one worker to do everything. Fortunately he was a very good cook and pleasant waiter. but we never stayed around to see how he handled the dish washing. We had an excellent meal in an empty restaurant. We were the only people there that night, and wanted to return the next night, a week night, to save us driving into town, only to be informed that the restaurant would be closed. In short if you are only looking for a dry and clean room to hang your head this place works. As a resort hotel it falls very short. There must be better places to be found in the area for the same price.

One of our tour guides didn't show up, the front desk helped us to find an alternative tour on that day. She also recommended a local hot spring which only costs $8 pp, and it's wonderful experience, definitely worth it.

I would suggest hiring a car if you want to stay here though as Taxi's are expensive and you are out of town so really need transport.

• Gary (10/5): - We loved being off the main road and the uniqueness of the property. We enjoyed sitting on the porch with nature around us and the view of the Arenal volcano. We enjoyed the hammocks too.
• Sally (8/5): Hidden gem that's close to town - This place felt like a hidden gem. Private little cabins on gorgeous grounds with a beautiful view of the volcano (when the clouds parted). But it was super close to downtown La Fortuna and other activities in and around town. Our only complaints were that the breakfast was not good and the wifi was spotty. But the price was very reasonable and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit.
• Stephen (4/5): - The property grounds are very beautiful and well maintained. The rooms are not luxurious by any standard, but they seemed adequate upon arrival. On our second day of our 2 day stay, our room became infested with countless flying insects (maybe termites). The staff was responsive and did move us to another room, which helped, but the overall impression of the stay turned from neutral to negative after that experience, especially because this happened during bedtime, and we had an early morning ahead of us to get back to San Jose and drop off our rental car before our flight. With 3 small children, this made our last night in Costa Rica not exactly pleasant and relaxing. Speaking of 3 small children, I booked this particular hotel through Expedia with them in mind, for two reasons. 1) it had a room with bunk beds 2) breakfast was said to be included. We arrived at the hotel at 8:30pm, and the lights at the reception building were off and doors were locked. So keep that in mind if you stay here. Arrive before 7pm. Also, the included breakfast isn't included. You have to order it the night before, and it's $6 per adult, $3 per child, and they bring it to your room. When I booked the room through Expedia, I had my party listed as 2 adults and 3 small children, but somehow the booking didn't end up including the kids. I didn't know this, but when I was asking about breakfast, the front desk guy demanded I pay them more money. I laughed at him and left. I rate my stay 3/10
• Salvador (10/5): - I have to say for being a off the beaten path property it is one of my top ten places I’ve stayed at in overall comparison.. Starting with the gentlemen that checked us in to the hospitality of the breakfast.. As for location: Amazing.. Getting there is a bit dicey but well worth the drive from La fortuna.. This place is amazing and a defininate come back.. Please tell your guy who checked us in thank you for the map and all the suggestions specially about cacique and the taster.. Those guys are awesome!!!!! Over all 5 Stars.. I’ve been all over US and other countries and gotta say this is top 3…
• Savannah (10/5): - It’s basically a cabin. So it can be noisy with the birds and bugs outside and ants get in very easily (and into your food). But the staff are amazing, accommodating, and welcoming. The on site restaurant is absolutely delicious with the best host and cook you could ask for. We had children with us and the only thing we wish we had at this hotel was a pool. The kids still loved searching the hotel grounds for animals. We felt very safe and at home.

• Yao (10/5): Quiet, friendly gem of a place - Loved this place! It was so quiet with a beautiful view of Arenal. When we were checking in, we saw some created guans in a tree, and lots of other varieties of birds right on the property. The staff were also incredibly friendly, with the receptionist recommending the locals’ favorite hot springs, Termalitas, over fancier options like Tabacon. Would definitely come again!
• RICHARD (8/5): Very comfortable stay - Lovely place just a few minutes drive from La Fortuna, with lots of things to do very nearby. The accommodation is extremely generous and comfortable as all other reviews say. We were quite disappointed as there was no view from our room... the view of the volcano was obscured by the staff accommodation, and we had other guests cars parked directly outside our seating area which really spoilt the outlook. Better care could be given to parking arrangements I think, the cars shouldn't park here... management could easily fix this to improve these rooms (area C). We went to go to the on-site restaurant on our second but our it wasn't opening that day. But of a shame as it has been open the night before and looked lovely. No info was given about when it would be open/closed. The grounds of the Brisas are absolutely gorgeous, and there's a nice little forest trail you can walk too. All in all, a good stay, very good value for the money we paid and we were happy overall.

Tried taking a shower in the morning ONLY cold water, tried everything to no a avail....VERY disappointed to say the least. Coffeemaker didn't work and the sheets smelled like a chemical.
• michael (10/5): Probably the best deal in Costa Rica - Excellent modern comfortable very well equipped cabin which far exceeded expectations.. Beautiful tranquil location with expansive manicured gardens with an amazing view of the volcano
