- Nataliya (3/5): -
- Tintet (8/5): - connection wifi
- Maria Dolores (10/5): -
- Charu (8/5): Beautiful location, managed by really helpful staff and they helped me with all my bookings which came in really handy. - If someone is looking for a peaceful location away from the town hustle and bustle. This is a good location. If you travelling solo the access to the property can be a bit dark at night
- Sherilyn (1/5): -
- Domenico (7/5): Can’t complain. I loved it. Hey is the Philippines ☺️ - Front beach view. No bed sheets.
- James (1/5): horrible - the location needs to be demolished ..the toilet is disgusting u have to empty a bucket of water into the bowl to flush for number twos.. lucky if you get hot water ..water pressure is a drip ..kitchen is a joke gas burners are so old and do not work properly ..kitchen cupboards do not open ..only one pot to cook with ..no block out blinds on ground floor ..the location is stunning and staff friendly were the only positives …avoid !!there are better places for half the price ..their resto in town is so good food and service was exceptional..Jarryd is a legend ..
- Rowena (5/5): Was very good holidays 😊 Peaceful place😊 - Front of the beach, peaceful and close to El Nido town, great people and very accommodating staff specially sir.Jason and some girls staff that staying in the place.😊 and you can cook in that place too😊 Sometimes water is on and off upstairs in our room,
Aircon is not cooling down much.
Toilet is a bit dirty that floor looks like not cleaning it for so many months or years. My mums clean their toilet downstairs before we used it and also the electricity as well sometimes there’s a no electricity but a couple of ours it came back😊
- Bianca (6/5): - Old dated, internet didnt work, we booked late and werent expected, the couple of workers were pleasent...
- David (10/5): - We loved the location of the property and the view is amazing. Our room was really spacious and very comfortable. It could do with a little updating, but it didn't spoil our stay at all.
- Desicj (5/5): Eight nights on the seashore in an old wooden house - The advantages of this place are that it is located on the seashore and can accommodate up to 4 couples of friends. The rooms have very old furniture, the bathroom is dirty and old. The kitchen area is empty, there are very few plates, glasses available. We had "pets" - COCKROACHES
- Travel (8/5): Very good - Size of room. Garden. Location beach front. Bathroom is to old. Need an update. Noisy and tiny refrigerator
- Kruthi (8/5): Absolutely breathtaking venue but the the room facilities could be better - Absolutely beautiful property and a great person taking care of the property. Since it is in the ground floor, the curtains could be less transparent and due to the light switched on all night, it is very disturbing to sleep. The fan does not work in all speeds and the ac makes too much noise. The toilet door cannot be locked.
- Michael (1/5): Bad -
- Coenie (6/5): Lovely views, but not for the elderly or unfit - The view from the accommodation is stunning. The place has a romantic feel to it, and it has a lot of much (missed) potential. The contact person at the office is very kind and friendly. I would hardly call the accommodation a villa - its one biggish room with kitchen facilities in the corner of the room. The location is not suitable for older or unfit people. The villa is only accessible by walking over a short stretch of beach. BUT, if it is high tide, then one has to wade trough water higher than knee deep, and if the sea is rough it is plain dangerous to walk on the stretch of beach. There is no light, at night it is pitch dark. The step to the property is more than 1 meter, so it is not easy for an older or unfit person to climb the step, especially in the dark. Since my stay was during high tide at night time, I was trapped in the villa because it was too dangerous and dark to try and walk on the beach. Note to owners: at least install a light, or supply your guests with a torch.
- Paul (9/5): An underrated place! - Nice and cosy place. Rooms are spacious and have all the necessary things. The view from the room to the beach is incredible. The wifi was not stable and the pressure from the shower was not high
- David (10/5): Exceptional - Awesome area beautiful scenery and sunsets. Awesome staff made some good friends 🧡
- Terence (8/5): Very good -
- Marco (7/5): Good -
- Anna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Craig (10/5): - Excellent service. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The property had stunning views of the sea. Highly recommended 👌
- Catherine (4/5): If you’re fussy, this place is not for you. - It’s beachfront Bathroom- mouldy, toilet bowl not so clean, hot shower didn’t work on our entire stay, broken door, trickled water from shower or tap.
Kitchen- worn out cupboard door, dripping elbow pipe of sink, there were roaches
Bed- beddings not presentable, look dirty even if it was newly replaced
- David (10/5): Exceptional - Very good location, quiet.
- Kerstin (6/5): Nice place to chill with beautiful view - The Villa is right on the beach and has a beautiful view on the bay. The garden is a nice place to chill and the room has everything you need. Walking to town is no big deal, you also can get a trycicle. Everything is a little outdated and needs maintenance. Except for 2 cups and 1 plate the kitchen is not equipped, although you can make hot water.
- Cloé (3/5): Book elsewhere - We liked that the staff was professional and friendly. We arrived late to pick up our keys to the Salangane Hotel in downtown El Nido (where you have to pick up your keys priors to getting to the apartments), and they arranged transport to the apartments from there. Thank god they did we would not have found the place if not. We were extremely disappointed in our stay. First it is quite far and a lot of tuk-tuks won’t want to bring you there, and we understood why. Since these hotels are quite new and located further from the center, the road getting there is not great — it’s close to the water and when the tide is high there is not way to even take it. Second, the property is not indicated at all from the street, so you can walk by and not see it. There is no entrance from the street, so if you can’t get there via the beach to have to pass through another property, get down on the beach and climb to the property. All this with very limited lighting at night. Third, even though it is an ‘apartment’, there is no basic ingredients such as oil and salt, the pans are all chipped, and no dish soap. And little options to buy ingredients to cook around, only the usual from their bodegas. Lastly, there are A LOT of dogs at night on the road getting there, with a sign that basically says ‘we are not responsible if they bite you’. We’ve had no issues with any dog in our month long trip, but these dogs were more agitated and even barked at me quite intensely when my flipflop made a squishing noise… I removed them. Since there is no light, you might not even see them when walking. I do not recommend this place at all. Golden Monkey beside looked much better and it was cheaper too!
- Jozef (8/5): Very good - Personal, silent place Sometimes Hightide issue. I like wearing enclosed shoes
- Ashwini (8/5): Very good - Location The approach road is not very good, it is difficult to reach with your luggage.
- Elisa (8/5): a cozy and relaxing stay in front of the sea - The apartment was clean, the building is very typical (made of wood and bamboo) and cozy. The Host was very kind, pretty good english speaker. She gave us information about how reaching the city center and help us with some service, like laundry. The road, that bring you from the apartment to the center of El Nido, does not allow the passage of cars.
But it was no longer than 10/15 minutes by foot. Anyways, if you have luggages, you can always ask for a tricycle, a typical taxi in Philippines.
- Laura (3/5): Way too high priced and run down, not a nice armosphere - The Hotel is run down and does not look like on the pictures.
The fact that you have to walk several minutes was fine for us to hide from the super busy El Nido Center, but you do not get the feeling of beeing in a nice place. Would not recommend to book it, even half of the price would be too much!
- Walid (5/5): Passable - The view, the dogs only and the value of money 😂😂 Wrong direction to collect the key, no one answer for support, very difficult to reach unless you wanna walk for 15 minutes or you need to wait for 20 minutes to get a ride and each round is for 200php,
electricity cuts off and always no hot water... Honestly I will no repeat it..
- Myron (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gloria (5/5): Very uncomfortable - The stay was quite uncomfortable due to electricity black out practically everyday with some days over 10 hours and the property doesn't not have an alternative generator to provide electricity so very uncomfortable during the night sleeping without air-conditioning in the 33 degrees heat.
The only positive thing is the host and the young lady looking after the place as very nice and pleasant to us. To put a generator please and the foot access going to the house from the alley is very unsafe to walk on specially carrying your luggage as it is made by stacking sand bags.
- Andre (10/5): Exceptional - Location, lovely but shy staff. All I like.
- Filipina (10/5): Exceptional - Quiet and relaxing
Rooms has kitchen and accommodating staff.
They are always ready to assist you whatever you need You have to talk to the staff properly to make your point, english is not there primary language,so its better to clarify things always as my partner did.
- Kamil (7/5): It needs some improvments - Nice, quite location in El Nido The place is old fashioned.
It needs some improvments.
- Lee (7/5): Our stay was very remote, peaceful and filled with daily unknown short adventures. Overall, it was a great stay. - We stayed for 21 days. We like the Beach front Villa and we will miss the dog (Coby) greeting us every morning and evening. We suggest the young lady personnel to be more approachable and willingly accommodating every guest at the Villa. Should be more hands on. Especially changing linens and make a schedule of cleaning rooms just like we stay there for 3 weeks.
We asked for new bed comfort but we only received thin sheets. Hopefully the water at times has a faint smell like sewage should be look at, not advised for personal used (drinking, or used in cooking). But in general, we love the Villa and still recommended. Thank you La Salangane.
- Etienne (8/5): Nice once you figure out how to find the place. - The place is super nice when you get there Getting there sucks. it was really hard to get there without proper instruction. Plus we had to get in elnido first for nothing.
- Martina (10/5): Exceptional - The room was very nice and charming and very spatious. We liked a location as it was quiet and still close to the town. Also front yard was nice and great for chilling and maybe the best part of accommodation. It is good value for money.
Also host was wellcoming and willing to help in all situations.
- Lukas (6/5): Mainly clean but run-down hotel which should be renovated. - The big room (which was clean). The hotel’s accessibility is really bad. First to get to Calaan Beach you have to literally cross another beach and have to walk through water when there is high tide. Second the hotel itself is only accessible via Calaan Beach (which is hard to access during high tide).
The main sleeping room was really big and clean. The fridge was really old and even had rust stains. The bathroom had spider nets and seemed run down. The shower was not working (only bucket showers). There was hot water though.
The lady who was working at the front desk could not articulate herself in English (which made organising bikes etc really hard).
- Dani (7/5): slightly disappointed - We liked the room, it was a nice, spacious and have an incredible view to the beach. The location was not great, moreover get there was either by the beach or from an unfinished laneway at the back, a direct access from the local street would be nice. Despite the fact that there is a kitchen in the room, no food or water are available at the reception, next door the complex offered full equipment villa and a nice small restaurant looking over the beach. We wish we had booked there that offer more value and bit cheaper.
- Adrian (8/5): This is Lorna, not Adrian. It was a very relaxing seaside vacation. - Loved the beachfront view and the 2 sweet/shy Island puppies. They went down to the bottom stairs by the rocks to say goodbye. They made me miss our own 2 puppies. Marian was friendly and attentive. Our trike driver (was it Eric? Not sure) was always on time and very polite. It would have been helpful to have a quick-start breakfast like coffee and toast. We couldn't exactly run to the Golden Monkey for breakfast in our pajamas.
- Leoluca (9/5): the stay was exceptional and we enjoyed the help of Mary! - Host very welcoming and helpful in organizing scooter rental and tours. Beautiful sea view from the property.
- Myron (10/5): Exceptional -
- Samia (8/5): - Le personnel été au top !! Super accueillant
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Beach front. Homey ambiance.
- Daniel (8/5): - In general El Nido is a quite crowded place, with ugly beaches and many people trying to sell you things. If you want to stay away from this mess, this hotel is a good option. It might take you a while to walk to it from downtown (around 20 min), but I think it is worthy.
The room was spacious for the price we paid, and you will pay much more if you want to have the same in central El Nido.
The hotel host was quite nice and helped us booking a bus ticket and finding a tricycle to take us to the bus station (100 PHP).
It is not the hotel's fault, but if I could choose again I would not waste my time in El Nido. I'd spend more time in Port Barton (for relaxing and beautiful beaches) and Coron (for beautiful landscapes). There are so many people in El Nido's boat tours that it is impossible to see anything (you will get to the so called "secret beach" and find 300 people there).
In general, the hotel made us feel better in a super disappointing place.
- Iris (8/5): - It’s like home away from home..very nice place with very nice staff. Would likely go back here.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Comments overall... - Place is too far from the city proper and the ride with the provided 3 wheel transportation is terrible. Roads are too narrow and the only nice feature is the view of the sea but the beach area in itself is inaccessible. There are no food facilities available and not all appliances were working plus there were ants in the rooms.
- roel r. (10/5): Amazing time! - I will be staying here again when I come back. The house caretaker Mary is so awesome and offers help for anything. I don't think we would be coming back if it wasn't for her hospitality. The place is clean and the view of the beach and islands are amazing. I will be sending friends to here to visit when they come.
- frederic monicard (8/5): tourisme - calme et repos
- Manon (8/5): - The room is at 10 minutes walking distance from El Nido Center and is big and has a nice terrace. It' s quit and next to the sea. The housekeeper is very friendly. The villa needs a construction though.
- Lance Elison (6/5): Perfect if youre looking for isolation - Before anything, I would like to say that the Mary Ann, the inn keeper, was very helpful and accommodating. Knowing that the location is very shady, she offers to buy water and drinks for us during our stay. Even helped us book a van.
Now to the hotel review. The beach villa is a nice place to stay in if you want to get away from people and the main city center. It takes 10 minutes by trike to get there from the city center, and you'd have to pass through very small alleys and tight roads to get there. Beside the villa is an empty lot where they repair boats. If you're looking for a beach front, this isnt it either since there isnt much of a beach to speak of during high tide, and even during low tide, the beach is filled with big rocks so that doesnt make it any better. The rooms are very traditional with their walls and roofing with a really cold airconditioner. Comes fully equipped with a kitchen and fridge.
Basically, if you just plan on staying in and cooking all your meals yourself, this place is perfect. However, if you just want a nice place to stay in and then explore the city streets and meet people, this wont work for you. They do have free hotel transfers from the beach villa to the city, but it takes 10 minutes for the trike to get there.
- Samantha (8/5): Relax away from crowded tourist streets of el nido - Had a lovely stay here. Great if you want a quiet, relaxing stay away from the hustle and bustle of el nido. Was in a very local area which we loved.
- Kevin (8/5): Quiet place and spacious room - the hotel is nice and the staff is very friendly, however, the road to access it is very narrow so it's better to contact the hotel a little bit in advance to arrange a pick up in town
- Pichet (6/5): Nice room nice view - Far away from El Nido town like 20 minutes walk from Ei Nido but have free tricycle service. Room and environment so nice. have kitchen in room so we can make simple dinner and enjoy beachfront.
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- From (2/5): Caution... - Ended up looking for another accomodation (Yes, it was double pay for us). No refund policy was a risk. They have diff hotels, wouldnt know if you'll be staying at the central part or out of no where. Also, make sure to REQUEST airconditioning, or else they will not transfer you to a room with one. Tried talking to the people to ask for even just a partial refund...nothing is the answer.
Points faibles: Wifi faible voir inexistant, climatisation bruyante.
Séjour d'une semaine agréable.
- Jessica (8/5): Mellow Stay at La Salangane - The staff was very helpful in organizing boat trip and shuttle service. Great place to stay for families with a full kitchen in the room. Location is a bit out of town so be ready to walk about 20 minutes to get there but its a nice walk.
- J.E. (8/5): The beautiful secret called La Salangane - This is the best secret El Nido has. Now I know it's not the most convenient way of reaching and getting to the villa but once you get there it's amazing!!! The view in front of your villa is spectacular!!! The service we got from the caretaker (Mary Ann) and her husband is second to none. The couple went out of their way to serve us and to make sure we are happy and contented. They even cooked for us. Wonderful people. We would go back in a New York minute. We truly enjoyed staying at this place.
- Patryk (10/5): - The quiet place where you can escape from the noisy city center, but enough close to the center to take a walking for dinner or shopping. You can fall in love with nature in the nearby hotel. Incredibly friendly and helpful service. Thank you Meriam, I had a really nice time at your place.
- Magda (6/5): Not very hygienic - If you don`t mind sleeping with ants spread around the kitchen bench top and 12 inch geckos crawling around the room, then this place is for you.
There is a slight partial sea view, but was mainly blocked by the vast amount of palm trees on the property. The building can be described as a very large and old tree house. It is literally supported by a large tree trunk with a swamp of ants housed within. Unfortunately, the geckos are necessary to keep the ants at bay due to the fact of it being supported by a large living tree trunk.
The only good thing about this place was the housekeeper Myriam, who was always very kind and accommodating and even cooked a delicious lunch for us on two occasions.
There was also a loss of electricity on a dozen occasions and their back up generator was faulty.
If you don't want the ants and geckos stay somewhere else.
Negativ: alles andere
- Maggie (2/5): Not recommended - Not a very happy stay but we had amazing time in el nido. Hotel is very far away from downtown, the transportation is a huge problem, if you walk, it will takes like half an hour, and normal tricycle cannot come in Becoz the narrow road, if it is a raining day, you hv to walk into this muddy lane, and hotels staff not very helpful at all.
- Carina (8/5): Accommodation for a familu - Good for a quiet family stay
- Carina (8/5): Family hotel - It was an amazing stay.peaceful and quiet.
- Wendy (6/5): La Salangane Caalan Beach Villa - Review for room April 2015
Off the beaten path. Hotel is in El Nido town and is tucked away from the noisier hotel/bar coast line. You'll wonder if you're lost of if you missed it. Keep walking and you'll find La Salangane Caalan Beach Villa.
Our room was clean. Bathroom has toilet and shower, low water pressure but did the trick after the plane in and dusty ride into town.
I think you might find a better room for the rate - if you look. But this was a safe and clean place to crash, available on hotels.com.
Couple of notes:
No AC
Sitting area overlooking beach (ironically not all hotels in El Nido have)
Our rate did not include breakfast
Kitchenette: Fridge, cabinets, sink, counters. No coffee maker or coffee (instant), no dishes in case you were interested in cooking
Extra mattresses available for a surcharge (around 60 pesos each)
Fridge was nice to have
- stephen (6/5): Just not right place for us. - Very secluded. If that's what you're looking for its great. I thought it was more in the main town area.
Wifi inexistant
- Stine (10/5): Very very satisfied :D - Very nice people that own a chain of hotels. They can help you with everything and help you to experience el nido in all possible ways. Maid is sweet and the staff is very very friendly and good at their english speaking. Also free transport from the hotel to all parts of town.
I stort sett inga skadedjur, ytterst få mygg.
- Elli-Noora (10/5): The perfect place for a romantic night - This place was just amazing! On the beach, very near to a local village, just a 10-minute tricycle drive away from the main tourist street and the bars. The hotel offer the tricycle drives for free at request! Perfesct for a romantic stay.
- Dan (2/5): A couples nightmare!! - When employers tell you they know it is a terrible place and that they have a lot of customer complains, you know to stay away. Going there takes about 30 minutes from el nido town.Ended up us calling the hotel many times and waiting for over 1 hour in a shady dark corner somewhere the tricycle had left us. They came with a smaller tricycle and we drove about 20 minutes from el nido town trough run down roads with no lights. We finally get there and they put us in a room where the "reception" area is. We asked for changing the room due to loud noise from the talking employers outside. We did not feel any privacy at all and despite there being available rooms, they never let us change room. When we tried to go to the bedroom I noticed a cockroach creeping to the bed and I already noticed extremely much ants and bugs in our room. The mosquito net that we were supposed to put around our bed was destroyed due to many holes in it.The sheets were dirty with a lot of stains on them and the area had a sour smell leaking into the bedroom we were booked. Me and my girlfriend decided to go to town to look for other hotels, turns out the best hotel in el Nido town that's modernized and new only takes 1500 php a night (Same price as This resort takes) And that hotel was in the middle of the town of el Nido, convenient for everything!!! We went back and said we were going to transfer, but then they said I would not get any refund back. It was a nightmare dealing with these people.
