Guest Reviews
- Debra (10/5): -
- PETER (9/5): Excellent and somewhere I would happily revisit - It would have been helpful if we could have reached our room in the Stables without having to negotiate stairs. My wife is disabled and uses a wheelchair.
- Vicky (8/5): A beautiful hotel but please don’t add service charges automatically - The estate was beautiful with stunning views I didn’t like the service charge being added to every bill
- Marie-Charlotte (9/5): Beautiful estate in the Cotswolds - super dog friendly! - The estate is beautiful. The hotel felt cosy and we absolutely loved how dog friendly it was. The views over the valley are stunning. Our room in the Stables was very cute and comfortable. We loved the nice touches for our dog and for my husband’s birthday. The staff were super friendly. We were a little bit disappointed with the food. We had dinner the first night and the food could be improved. The cocktails were really good however.
Breakfast was similar. The buffet was nice. The cooked food was good but nothing special.
- Jordan (10/5): Exceeds expectations - The food was unbelievable. The best roast dinner I have ever had. Nothing was ever any bother to the staff. All so helpful, kind and very informative. The facilities were amazing and the hotel caters for everyone from couples, family's and even dog owners and if you are a fan of nature then this hotel is for you. Listening to all the different birds in the morning was so peaceful. Could not recommend this hotel enough I couldn't get the kettle in the room to work but they may have just been me.
- drwho_tardis (10/5): May Visit - A wonderful hotel in the country side not far from Broadway UK in the Cotswolds. I can't say enough good things about the staff, Max, Katie, Grace, Grace and others whose names unfortunately I've forgotten. We were in a Coach House Suite with plenty of space. Dining in the hotel restaurant was great. A great base to explore the Cotswolds!
- Jennifer (9/5): A perfect way to treat my daughter to a luxurious two days , during a tricky time for her - All the food was delicious!
The staff were lovely.
Loved the comfortable outdoor furniture
Loved the access to green field and views Nothing really , we loved it and it fulfilled our needs to have relaxation, peace and good food!
- James (10/5): Beyond our expectations for the price! - Lovely setting, clean, comfortable rooms, very friendly staff! Great breakfast and dinner at the Fish was delightful. Scrabble in the bar one evening was very fun. Pillows were eh, so requested different ones which were there for us when we returned for the day.
- Gail (10/5): Fabulous - Everything... we love going to the fish its ao relaxing and staff rooms and food excellent.. Only small complaint would be breakfast. Great cooked breakfast but need to sort out coffees and teas . We got our cooked breakfast before we got out tea coffees.....
- Kenneth (8/5): Enough to say I will return - The grounds were excellent for short walks or longer in to broadway. The bar and restaurant were very convenient and very comfortable The WiFi was poor but hey we were on a break so who cares
- ScottishTourist01 (8/5): It was…nice - Me and the OH recently had a night here at The Fish and had dinner in Hook and breakfast the next morning.
Lovely location which feels secluded and far away from the maddening crowd. Easy to find with good sign posts and the instructions given by the hotel in their welcome email.
Arrival and check in was smooth, easy and completed quickly before being directed to your accommodation.
We went to the bar for a drink and were immediately greeted by a staff member and given bar menus however they then disappeared and we were just left in the bar area sat there waiting. Around 15 minutes later another guest went to find a staff member as they wanted their drink refreshed and once that had happened this staff member then asked if we would like to order anything.
The hotel quite clearly says it’s dog friendly and I would say that’s an understatement, we did not have a dog with us and definitely felt like the odd ones out especially in the bar and lounge area where everyone else had one or more dogs with them (all very well behaved). Dogs are however not permitted into Hook, the restaurant.
The accommodation is to a good standard and there was nothing ‘missing’ that we thought would be standard in this level of hotel, however you do have to be qr code trained as all the details on things such as heating etc etc are accessed through qr codes in your room. We are not particularly qr code savvy and therefore didn’t find this out until the next day when I asked how could I have done something and was told scanning the qr codes was the gateway to all knowledge.
The hotel accommodation is spread out and some of the pathways / roads / steps between your accommodation and the main lodge are quite steep.
We enjoyed our nights stay here and the food was very enjoyable, it was an experience and although we like dogs there were just too many around for us.

- Lara (9/5): Magnifique !

- Jamie (8/5): Relaxing stay and a great nights sleep in a beautiful setting - Welcoming arrival and promptly shown to our room . Free electric car charging also a great perk.
Breakfast was very tasty with great service Facilities were lacking , a gym overlooking the amazing view or an inside pool would have made the stay exceptional for us

- F6986JWstephanier (10/5): Amazing in every way - What an amazing break we've had at The Fish.
We stayed in the lovely Lancaster cottage overlooking miles of beautiful scenery and are only sorry we didn't bring the dogs along!
The staff are simply amazing. From our arrival at reception through to check out and all in between (bar staff, restaurant staff, activity coordinator, who we bumped into on a walk who gave us a brief history on the place), all clearly love working at this idyllic spot. Amazing food in Hook last night and super breakfast this morning.
If you want a relaxed bit of luxury away from home this place is it. No pressure, extremely quiet, clean and bright, a true gem.
Thankyou to all the staff we came across you made our special break extra special and we look forward to returning soon.
- 8bitguru (10/5): Perfection for man and man's best friend - As a dog-owner with a fair amount of experience of staying at 'dog-friendly' hotels across the UK, I feel qualified to make this statement: The Fish is by far the best dog-friendly hotel I've ever stayed at.
We were met at the door by Katie, who was super-efficient and friendly and had us checked-in with the room key in my hand and information about all the facilities within 5 minutes. This included directions to our room, the bar, the restaurant, the boot room, the lounge, and what the best local walk was.
There's plenty of parking at the various buildings that comprise the hotel complex. The room itself (in The Stables block) was perfectly decent. A king-sized bed, TV, solid WiFi, tea/coffee/water right there, a card for the wine machine down the hall (preloaded with a complimentary glass each), sweeties in jars outside, and all clean and fresh. Bathroom toiletries not from the dull Molton Brown collection you see everywhere but instead a variety of unguents from another brand I've forgotten, but all very pleasant.
Our dog had her own bed waiting, with a towel and toy, food/water bowls, a scrummy treat, and tennis balls aplenty. Outside was a bath and agility area. Dogs are allowed EVERYWHERE except the restaurant - which is fine because...
The bar and lounge areas are exceptionally comfortable - both for us and the hound (plump floor cushions and VetBeds aplenty for princes and princesses alike). Eating from the restaurant menu in the bar area was entirely acceptable - some hotels banish owners and their dogs to dark uncomfortable corners and treat them as second-class diners. Not so here.
The bar was well-stocked and well-run - good prosecco was provided when requested, and they knew how to mix a whisky sour. The wine cellar was varied and priced reasonably - both reds and whites were entirely palatable.
And the food... dinner on the first night was London West End quality (I know because I live there). I've eaten lesser food in celebrity-chef restaurants, and paid more money for it. Breakfast the following morning was a Full English and absolutely nailed it.
The second night was a replica of the first - excellent dishes prepared perfectly and served with a smile. Wines by the glass or caraffe. Post-meal digestivos (a cocktail for me, prosecco for her) provided from the bar to the comfy chairs we'd decamped to.
The country and woodland walks around the 500-acre estate are well marked, graded by difficulty/distance, and thoroughly enjoyable for both 2 and 4 legs. There's a lake, bee meadows, some wildlife (sheep in neighbouring fields, deer roaming occasionally) and stunning views.
One minor niggle with the room: the aircon controls were locked, so the room was a little too cool overnight for her. We asked for, and got, an extra blanket for the second night, and it transpired that there's a combi cooler/heater fan tucked in a cupboard. The dog and I were fine though, so it's only those who are sensitive to the chillier night temperatures of early Spring who might need the additional warmth.
I don't think I've ever rated a hotel as a 10/10, but The Fish deserves it - even with the little room temperature problem. It's not the cheapest hotel, but also not the most expensive, and if you're looking for a slice of perfection for yourself and your pooch, it's worth every penny. We've already booked our next stay here.

The staff are all very friendly and super helpful. The food was beautiful, we did experience over our stay Breakfast, Lunch and Diner. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

- CardiffTilly (10/5): 5 star perfection - Wow!!! Just got home from an unbelievable, amazing and relaxing night away.
We stayed in the Fairy hideaway which was magical. From the minute you arrive it’s like you are the only people there, everything is personal and the staff cannot do enough for you. They have thought of EVERY detail possible to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.
The food in the Hook restaurant is stunning, we had dinner and the food and ambience is fantastic.
Breakfast is also 5 star, you honestly cannot ask for more.
There is free EV charging and nothing is too much trouble.
This is an absolute gem of a hotel where I cannot criticise 1 thing!
My only regret was I didn’t stay longer because this was a pure escape from reality, from watching the starts from your bed and all you can hear is birds chirping.
Book this hotel, you will not be disappointed.
- Gill (7/5): OK but difficult to justify the price. - Excellent breakfast. Helpful staff. Incessant barking from a dog left in one of the rooms. Unable to reach a member of staff on any number to report. Had to walk up to reception to find someone.
Very difficult to find information about simple things, like milk for coffee/tea for example. It was available (we were in the stables) but only found when were leaving. Needed to scan barcodes for certain information. Milk was not on the info contained on these.
Radio in room didnt work.
Nice note left by member of hotel staff wishing a good stay and finishing with "have a drink on us". Absolutely no idea what this referred to or how or where we could get our free (I assume) drink.
- Simon (8/5): Generally very good - The staff were excellent The tennis court was in very bad condition and expensive for the state of it
- Sally (10/5): - Everything at The Fish is exceptional.
- Catherine (10/5): Great location lovely hotel. - Lovely staff.beautiful location
And room was clean and had everything we needed. Pillows could have more variety bit too soft.

- O6393QSemmah (10/5): Perfect Valentine’s Getaway - My boyfriend and I stayed at The Fish for Valentine’s Day and had a wonderful experience. We stayed in the “Bottom” Hideaway Hut, which was clean, cosy, and beautifully designed! It was such a lovely and relaxing space, which is exactly what we were after.
We had dinner on Valentine’s night at Hook, and the food was absolutely incredible. All of the staff were friendly and accommodating, and our waitress, Hannah, was especially lovely. She made us feel so welcome throughout the evening.
There are also so many beautiful walks in and around the estate, and it’s great to see plenty of facilities available for dogs.
We’re already looking to come again! I can’t recommend this hotel enough 😊
- Linda (8/5): Fantastic location, lovely weekend away in the great outdoors. - Breakfast was superb as was the evening meal. Staff were so friendly. Amazing walks. Our room was a little disappointing, there was no view and if the blinds were up you could see into the hallway - so I presume people could see in also! I did ask to change but no-one got back to me.
- tomotours (10/5): Always an amazing stay - Thank you once again to Natalie and the team for a wonderful stay at the fish
We are always made to feel very special when we arrive and they make a point of nothing is any trouble so please ask if we need anything
Also appreciate if the repeat guest wine card which we put to good use
Enjoyed dinner both nights at the Hook
Food was absolutely delicious and nice to see Helen back after her hip operation
We will be back again in a few months to treat ourselves again
Thank you the fish family
Ian and Deb x
- Sara (10/5): Stunning hotel in a perfect location - Beautiful hotel in a perfect location. Staff were wonderful! The food was great in Hook and at breakfast. We will be back! Nothing!
- berks5 (10/5): Perfect in every way - This was probably the best hotel stay we have had. From the minute you arrive you are made to feel very welcome and all staff that we met were attentive, friendly and professional.
Our room was the suite in the Coach house - very spacious, spotlessly clean and beautiful furnishings.
Food at the evening meal and breakfast was delicious and catered well for a vegetarian.
The extras given to mark my birthday were gratefully received. A hotel that cares about the service it gives.
Look forward to returning
- charlie (6/5): -
- Jessica (9/5): -
- Pearl (9/5): Worth a visit but it is very hilly, if you have any slight mobility issues you need to tell them - Very good. Excellent service and food was good. One breakfast did have to be recooked due to eggs being cold but there was no problem in doing this. All staff at this hotel have customer service at the forefront of their minds and nothing is too much trouble. Food choice. It is mainly fish but they do have other offerings so we decided to stay and eat there. In hindsight we probably should have gone into Broadway as the other offerings were not that great and very limited
- Brett (8/5): Perfect break for you and your partner. - Clean, well run, organised and beautiful There wasn't anything I didn't like.
- Gary (7/5): -
- Niloufer (8/5): -
- Louise (9/5): Great location and exceptional staff- highly recommend - This is a gem in the Cotswolds - the decor and finishing touches are beautifully understated. No air on the stable room - there is a fan but the room was very warm
- Stephen (10/5): - We loved this hotel. It was unique, quaint and in a great location. We were traveling with our mother's and they took great care of them.
- Richard (10/5): -
- alexander (10/5): Great - Everything
- Harrow187045 (10/5): Super stay - What a great hotel, it was suggested by some friends who we meet up with a couple of times a year. We stayed one night Sunday into Monday. Our room was spacious and of a very good standard, but for us the stand out was the staff. Very professional but also very welcoming and friendly. We ate in the Hook restaurant on the Sunday night which was first class. The only disappointment was that I had ordered the Ray Wing but they were out of it, however the Monk Fish replacement was excellent. Breakfast on the Monday morning also did not disappoint. Definitely a place we will return to.
- MARK (7/5): - Location Staff; slightly impersonal and rushed
- Inherthirtiesplus1 (10/5): Fabulous 50th - Just back from a wonderful 24 hours at The Fish - booked the date night package as a last minute surprise for my husband’s 50th and it was perfect! The staff were SO welcoming and attentive, amazing food and perfect ambiance ~ so much attention to detail 💛 the birthday extras were such a treat and much appreciated, thank you!! Our first stay, but definitely not the last!! 🥂✨
- Steven (8/5): -

- Cheryl (10/5): Lovely stay for my partners birthday .would definitely return but upgrade to a larger room - Beautiful grounds and restaurant and lodge beautifully decorated Room smaller than expected and as we were in the stable block entrance it was very noisy especially with the pick a mix sweets being outside our room .guests felt it was fine to chat there at 3 am .
- Kirsty (9/5): -

The staff on arrival are very friendly with a warm cosy reception like no other
Our suite was just amazing 10/10 in cleanliness and everything else & the little touches made our stay exceptional. The breakfast was also great with lots of choice
We can’t wait to return.

The man herding ducks on Sunday Difficult to find in the dark and torrential rain
- gillya911 (10/5): Celebrating in style! - We chose to host our son’s 40th birthday party at the Fish Hotel. From the first planning meeting through to the day itself, Georgie, Natalie and the whole team made the occasion perfect in every detail. A beautiful setting, nothing was too much trouble, a fully gluten free buffet was a triumph, and we had a night to remember. Thank you all so much.
- guest788 (10/5): Absolutely fantastic - We stayed as a family for a pre-Christmas get away. We were completely blown away by the Fish.
The location was superb and we were so pleased to find a countryside hotel without any of the traditional country house formalities.
Food was excellent throughout but the major difference was the team - genuinely hospitable all the way through.
Spot on!
