Guest Reviews
- Denise (10/5): Best value on San Juan island - Friendly staff, very very clean room and very comfortable bed. When you book the micro room, you know the room is gonna be small but it has everything you need to make your stay at San Juan Island pleasant.
- Rahul Sai (2/5): - Nothing The room was too small.
- Patrick (9/5): -
- Sarvesh (8/5): -
- Virginia (4/5): Hanging out in a double-wide trailer. - The room was so small the bed only fit sideways. The sink was in a closet. The toilet and shower were in another closet. A few more square feet.
- Sheila (6/5): It’s ok for sleeping! - Close to downtown and ferry and food. All in all it was worth the rate. Room very very small (1queen) & desk it the room was smaller than smallest cruise room. It was sooo tight. One side of the bed was up against the wall. But All in all it was worth the rate.
- Guest (8/5): watch well for us, and quiet. - these are modest historic buildings barged down from Alaskan pipeline work. No extra space but everything was fine. Great location central to Friday Harbor.
- Sharolynn (10/5): Great - Very good management. Clean room, comfortable beds, 2 bathrooms
- Cheryl (3/5): Rooms are Fine-Manager is Rude - The check-in woman was friendly enough, but the manager woman was rude, harsh and not friendly at all. When I left after a 3-night stay, and I asked where she wanted the key dropped off, she just huffed and then said in a rude manner, in the box outside. No thank you staying. Her tone during check-in was the same, just rude and sort of aggressive. It seemed like the customers were just a bother to her. Rooms are small, but clean and the cleaning staff were very nice.
- Lynn (4/5): -
- Guest (2/5): While not horrible, I would not stay here again unless desperate - location was decent There was food under the bed. That makes me wonder if rhe rest of the room was cleaned. I also did not appreciate the lack of deadbolt
- Lorie (9/5): It was fine. - It was very clean and staff wonderful. Very small rooms.
- lollydOlympia (6/5): Mediocre option in Friday Harbor - Pretty mediocre hotel with a very cramped and poorly laid out room. Glad I only had one night. It was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the front desk staff was helpful, but the room itself was pretty disappointing. Super glad not to pay full price - thanks Trip Advisor for making it more affordable. Still poor value for the price.
- Guest (7/5): Comfortable place to stay while exploring the island - Simple accommodations to rest your head Room layout
- Law (4/5): It was the least expensive motel in Friday Harbor, and you get what you pay for. - Room and bed were both clean and room was well maintained. Staff was courteous and helpful. Room was tiny. The bed essentially took up the etire room. Very poor water pressure, water essentially dripped from the3 fixture. Walls were thin and I could hear and understand the conversations in the rooms on either side of me.
- Pascale (7/5): Expensive for such a small room Though very clean and well located - Good welcome, nice staff ready to help and to answer questions, very clean. Well located, close to center and ferry. The room is exageratly small. It’s difficult to find a space where to put the luggage. The mini fridge stuck behjnd the bed is extremely noisy. Though this motel is amont the cheapest accomodation in the island, the room doesn’t worth the price we paid.
- Tracy (5/5): Orca Inn Friday Harbor - The location is great Place is really small and pretty run down. Luckily we didn't spend much time in the room
- Ian (8/5): -
- jadillem (6/5): See above - Got there and had to walk from ferry to Orca close to a mile uphill. We did that a lot!
Place is clean. Rooms are barracks used for people who worked on the Alaska pipelines in the late 80’s.
Beds were comfortable. Each bed had its own shower, toilet, and vanity sink. Kind of weird but nice. Bare bones. Coffee was provided but wasn’t ready until after 8am.
We went out to find coffee earlier.
- Steve (7/5): Convenient location - Bathroom had a slippery shower floor and no grab bars, dangerous!
- Neil (10/5): Exactly what I needed! - I love the fact they have a cold water/hot water/ ice machine. Made filling up my water bottle so easy! Property was neat and tidy. Plenty of parking. Not to far from the harbor, walking was easy and so close to the bakery! Can’t think of anything.
- Frauke (7/5): Basic and clean accommodation with friendly staff, offering great value for money. - Great value for money. Simple accommodation but really friendly and helpful staff! A bit more space in the room would have been great.
- MARKFISH_999 (7/5): -
- Tim Jeroen (7/5): -
- Cecelia (6/5): An all-you-need-and-nothing-more facility that was clean and affordable. - Away from traffic. Nice sitting area outside. A/c worked well. Easy walk from ferry. Store and Great bakery nearby. Had what you need. Other travelers we met were nice. Very small shower and shampoo, etc. pumped out slowly. The place felt like a dormitory but wasn’t unpleasant.
- Euscher (10/5): Great night - I paid for the night for my kids and they had a blast they liked everyting
- Guest (10/5): Very fun and relaxing stay if you're just looking for a comfortable and clean room to sleep - We traveled to San Juan Island with 2 other couples. We each booked the queen bed room and it was rather small but clean and comfortable. We were really just looking for a place to lay our heads to sleep and some relaxation during the day. Would definitely recommend for anyone wanting to explore the island which is lovely. The staff was very helpful and accommodating for our group of 6. We were able to BBQ one night at the hotel. So fun! It rained very hard the first night but I'm pretty sure that's not the fault of the Orca Inn! Would book again in a heartbeat.
- Pamela (7/5): Nice affordable place to say. - The value for Friday Island was amazing. It had ample parking and was centrally located. The room was much smaller than we anticipated.
- Guest (3/5): - The manager was friendly, efficient and accommodating of a delayed arrival due to a change in the ferry schedule. Walls were extremely permeable to sound and other guests were audible throughout the night, disturbing sleep repeatedly between 11pm and 6am.
- Mauricio (1/5): - There was a blind broken in our room. They people outside could see inside our room.
- Anthony (9/5): Friendly and helpful staff and clean rooms - Comfortable bed with smart tvs. Great location Room size was a bit tight but wasn’t a problem for us
- Nat (10/5): - The room was very clean.
- Boersma (3/5): -
- JOHN (6/5): Good value for location but small rooms and thin walls - Good value Not enough ice
- bruce (5/5): -
- lairdkelly (4/5): Inn of Last Resort - Look at their website and you'll get a clue...18 pictures of the reception desk, 20 pictures of flowers and planting outside. The rooms are tiny and ill-equipped. My double room had two double beds and a chair. No desk, just a wooden chair. No breakfast, free or otherwise, just "I put out coffee when I get in at 9:00." When I told them my traveling partner couldn't come because of a head injury in an accident they would not let me down grade to a single, saying none were available, although the parking lot certainly indicated otherwise. The dining or social space they talk about is in the parking lot! Cost of this fun..$267 for one night. The space and facilities were clean. The bed was comfortable. The A/C worked. That's it.
- maegganv (7/5): Would stay here again. - It was nice that there was a place we can afford to stay. Meaning not $300 and up a night. The rooms are teeny tiny but it’s fine since you’re just there to sleep!
- Lee Ann (5/5): - Check in was easy and the front desk staff was kind.
The room was clean. The room was very tiny and looked like something from the 70s. I wouldn't have minded that, but we paid over $267 for one night! For that price, I'd have expected something much nicer, or at least some in-room amenities like a coffee maker.
- Kristine (4/5): The hotel room was half the size of a normal hotel room, and only coffee for breakfast. - Room was clean. It was the cheapest hotel on the island. It has microwave and refrigerator. Room was very small. Bathroom tiny. No hair dryer. Only coffee for breakfast.
- Robert (5/5): - Affordably in Friday Harbor is not really possible.
- Boyd (10/5): -
- Edward (8/5): A nice, comfortable, convenient, and comparatively affordable place to stay on San Juan Island. - The room was ready for us even though we'd arrived a few hours before the normal check-in time, which allowed us to drop our bags and roam a little more freely. The young woman on the desk, Maria, was terrific: friendly, personable, and an eager conversationalist even while quickly getting us checked in and ready to enjoy the room. There was ample free parking on-site, and the property is a short walk or even shorter drive to downtown Friday Harbor. The airport is across the road, but 1) the planes that take off throughout the day are all fairly small, so the noise isn't really an issue, and b) Bakery San Juan, with its fantastic menu, is ALSO across the road :) The room was very, very small, which can't really be helped, but there's almost no room to really move around or stretch out (apart from on the bed itself). It had the feel of a European-style micro-hotel rather than a standard American motel room. This is probably to be expected from the one property in the entire San Juan Islands that offers something approaching affordability, but, all the same, it was pretty snug. Not uncomfortable at all, though!
- Bryan (8/5): -
- Pat (9/5): - Rooms are small but comfortable. Love the 2 bathrooms for double room. Staff reacted quickly to any issues. Coffee and tea available by office. Blinds need replacing.
Too much light enters room from outside at night. No way to get wake up call.
- Ben (7/5): - Where it was located and the friendly staff There were antsin one of the bathrooms and git into some clothes

- Tanya (8/5): Priced right for access to a beautiful island - The location was ideal to walk into town or visit the bakery or grocery store. Loved the free and plentiful parking, water and ice machine in the main building, smart TV to access your own streaming service, fridge that got plenty cold, and clean/new towels. The location of the bed in the middle of the room with no headboard made sleeping a bit difficult; had to place pillow in corner of wall and refrigerator to make it not fall overnight. Window didn’t open; had to rely on AC to cool the room.
- Katie (4/5): Good location and cheap place to stay if you don’t mind the lack of comfort. - Good location with plenty of parking Shower door wouldn’t stay closed causing the floor to get wet. No curtains in room just blinds. Part of the blinds on window was missing. Left me feeling like someone could see in and no way to make room dark for sleeping since no curtains.
The rooms are small with no where to sit except on the bed. Which is fine except with no head board you have nothing to sit against. Not very comfortable.
- Jerry (5/5): -
- Helana (8/5): - Great little budget-friendly spot for an overnight. Clean, comfy, secure grounds, friendly staff. Room was a bit cramped, but comfy bed, good light-blocking curtains, AC, white noise. Made for a great overnight stopover!
- Curtis (7/5): -
- nancy (3/5): - Good location, quiet, easy parking g, great staff Cold shower. Waited for 10-12 min for the water to go cold to slightly less cold, then took a shower anyway. Meanwhile, waiting for the water to warm, water was wasted on an island that can have water restriction.
- Dominique (7/5): I love Friday Harbor and having a place to sleep felt so nice. It is informal and relaxed - Walking to the hotel from the town center was pleasant. It is also very close to a grocery store. The sense of being welcome was minimal and the coffee provided in the morning was minimal, in the hallway and confusing about what cups to use, etc.
- maureen (8/5): Great location, close to town and groceries. - Clean, kind host, easy to access and close to town. Paper thin walls. Small room.
- Amy (10/5): Clean & comfortable. Close to town. - Cleanest inn I’ve ever stayed at. Small, quaint, and functional rooms. Easy to walk to town. Would def stay here again.
- Shauna (5/5): - Easy access to town The room was very small.
- Timothy (7/5): Our stay was very relaxing, and we enjoyed exploring the island. - The location of the Orca Inn was perfect for exploring Friday Harbor and San Juan Island. The staff was particularly friendly and helpful. We came in on a very late ferry and the staff made sure they were there to check us in AND made ferry reservations for us to return to Anacortes since I had no cell coverage on the Island. The rooms are very small. Clean and well taken care of, but don't expect any frills. No coffee in the room and they do not have a sufficient ice machine. We bought a bag of ice to keep in our cooler and just took ice from that.
- Maria (6/5): -
- Ben (7/5): -
- Joyce (10/5): -
- Tanya (6/5): - Good location Rooms really small
- Pamela (9/5): Beds were very comfortable and linens were very nice quality. - Very good location
Free coffee in the morning. No breakfast options
- Thomas (8/5): -
- Salvia (5/5): Fine deal if you are okay with spending most of your day outside. - Late check in and early check out made day quite hard and ended up barely having time in the room, functionally a place to sleep and not much else, I understand that’s the point of the hotel but with the price we paid it felt still rather lacking
- Thomas W (5/5): -
- James (10/5): - The bed was really comfortable and the AC was perfect white noise
- Trevor (4/5): -
- dmetro (7/5): It's ok - Good location, a queen room a little small for 2 people . Had to use 2 keys ...1 for room and 1 for hall access.
- Xinyue (8/5): -
- Jennifer (10/5): - It was a cozy room. I don't mind small rooms and it was very quiet despite there being a small airport right next door. There is also a grocery store right next door and it is super close to all of the touristy things you would want to do on the island.
- William (4/5): - Clean and quiet Cramped
- Andrew (4/5): No frills to the max - Good location. Shabby rooms. Substandard bedding.
Thin walls. Claustrophobic room.
- Betty (8/5): -
- Candace (8/5): - Goog location. Friendly! Liked it all!
- Praveen (9/5): - Location was close to the port and we chose this property as we had an early morning ferry to board. Facilities were fairly basic but it served our need very well and it was really good value for the money.
- Fabio (6/5): -
- Kealy (5/5): Definitely the cheapest around, but don't really seem worth the cost we paid. - Not too far from main part of town and right next to a store The room was like being in a closet. No space. Too small! Had to move stuff just to move around the room like getting to the fridge and microwave. Not even a bedside table or nightstand, no room for one. The bed was hard and super uncomfortable! And the bedding was odd. A top sheet, thin blanket and sheet over that. Needs a better blanket or 2nd blanket. I literally used a towel I brought with as an extra blanket.
- Karondeep (6/5): - Ground level, parking right next to accommodation, comfortable bed. Small space inside room, bed had no headboard & was floated to middle of room, with microwave on one end and table on other end ! Could hear people next to us. The rooms were like being in a caravan or trailer. Also would have liked coffee machine in room.
- Hema (8/5): -
- Mary (8/5): A very acceptable budget stay. - Efficient use of the space. Had everything you need, including a large tv, small fridge and microwave. It is still a bit cramped. Everything is pretty old and dated. My room didn’t have a hair dryer.
- Jessica (6/5): Place to rest - Great location, useful local information provided. Air conditioning worked great. Needs a bit of updating.
- Adrienne (1/5): Miserable property and experience. - The sheets were clean. Horrible small rooms, paper thin walls, and uncomfortable beds pushed up against a wall.. You have to wait 20 minutes between showers due to their "quirky" water system (their words). Housekeeping was so loud starting at 6:32 AM. Oh, and the warning sound for a low battery on the hallway fire alarm beeped all night and day...every 30 seconds!!!
It was a miserable experience for $180.00.
- Lisa (8/5): It was an economical place to stay while we prepared for a kayaking adventure. - The receptionist was super friendly and helpful. The room was immaculately clean. The grounds were clean and comfortable with outdoor sitting areas. While the building was old, it was very well maintained. While it was immaculately cleaned, I am not a fan of wood paneling and orange countertops in my bathroom. It is very outdated.
- Leah (7/5): Clean, basic, close to downtown - The pictures of the property are accurate. Rooms are small and very basic. But they seem to be doing the best they can with what they have. It is very clean and the grounds are well maintained. I appreciated that there was a microwave and a mini fridge in the room. I think we were fortunate with our neighbors - on a Tuesday night it was quiet. Laura at the front desk was friendly and helpful. The old-fashioned air conditioner was a bit loud and for some reason it stopped working in the middle of the night. We turned it off and on again and then it was fine.
- Eric (8/5): -
- de Ruiter (8/5): The Inn - I liked how close it was to Friday Harbor and the Main Street in San Juan. This way you didn’t have to worry about parking. The manager was pleasant and informed me of different things about the Island. One quality I didn’t like was how quickly the shower went cold on me. I have thick hair and a dandruff issue and need the shampoo and conditioner to sit. After I shampooed and before I could even condition my hair the shower started to get cold. This is definitely made the rating of the inn go down for me.
- Tere (5/5): Tiny room - Location. Fridge. Microwave. Air conditioning. The room was tiny. There was minimal space to walk around the bed. The bed was smaller than expected. It was not comfortable. Perhaps emphasize in your listing that the room and bed are small.
- Amy (8/5): Great stay, happy with the inn and location. - Great value Rooms were a little small but can’t complain for the value
- Sherry (10/5): Great good night sleep in a clean comfortable room! - Room was very clean and the staff was great! That the bed was against the wall, I understand why. So that they could fit everything in the room. But prefer to be able to get out on both sides.
- Sassman (9/5): - Cute & cozy, It was a very small room but comfortable, clean and safe.
- Beverly (8/5): - Basic but clean and comfortable room with fridge and microwave.
Good management and wonderful staff. No hairdryer provided
- Manreet (8/5): Great value - Great staff and good value, cheapest accommodation at Friday Harbor and good value. Super comfy bed, TV, ensuite shower/toilet/sink. Also have fridge and microwave in the room. Coffee available in the mornings. It's 20 mins walk from ferry landing so if you're carrying a bag, it can be a long way to walk.
- Sally (8/5): - The location was good. Whilst the room was not the most modern, it was clean and had everything we needed. They were happy to store our luggage both before check in and after check out. The lady on reception was very helpful and full of good advice. Nothing really. Compared with European prices it is expensive for what you get but is fine for the US.
- Michael (9/5): - Friendly staff and clean room
- Peek (6/5): A room on SJI - The room was pretty much as described. It was clean and secure. It had s bed, a chest, shower, toilet, microwave, icebox, and a washup, mirror, and closet. Parking was great, the location was close to the harbor and ferry and was easy to get in and out. The hot water heater for each room worked fine with instant hot water, plentiful enough for two. Arrangements were through hotel.com. The room was barely big enough the hold the bed, chest, and fridge with microwave on top. Literally. Very little walking room. The shower and toilet were in one closet size room and the sink and closet were in another. Neither could have been any smaller. Everything worked as it should, except the bed. It was a very small queen. Maybe a regular. It was a comfortable soft, but it sagged to the middle
Badly. I guess the price was in line with everything else on SJI, and it was advertised up front, but on any other standard, I felt over charged. But, it did allow my wife and I to stay 3 nights on the island. And that is what we paid for..

- Deborah (8/5): - Pros: It was easy to check into. The room was very clean. It had nice hot water. The person at the front desk was friendly. It is reasonably priced. It is centrally located.
Cons: The room is small. Not much space to bend over and shave your legs in the shower. The bed seemed smaller than a queen. Cozy for two people. There is definitely not enough insulation between the rooms. Our neighbors woke us up a few times with things we didn't want to hear.
Overall it was fine. The biggest negative was hearing our neighbors.
