Guest Reviews
- Ronaldo (4/5): - A experiência do Check in foi péssima.
O serviço deixa MUITO a desejar.
Indico o hotel e voltaria a me hospedar com certeza!
- 764grahamw (10/5): We were staying here for 4 nights while visiting various sites in San Pedro. The hotel is perfectly positioned to enable this. - Very friendly and welcoming hotel. Our room was clean and spacious. The breakfast was superb. A great location off the main street. All the staff were wonderful and helpful and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. The pools and spa facilities were great.
El
Lugar increíble hicimos varias excursiones y todas fueron buenísimas . Súper recomendado
- Patel (10/5): - Super hotel located close to Main Street in San Pedro. Room was clean and very comfortable.
- jaketb2019 (10/5): Exclusive feeling hotel for a reasonable price. - The hotel bent over backwards for us throughout our stay here. We were out early (between 5 and 6am) every morning of our stay and each morning a breakfast bag was made up for us to take out for the day so we wouldn't lose out on breakfast. The room that we stayed in was lovely and felt very exclusive with our own porch area to sit in and relax. Also, the location in the town of San Pedro de Atacama is fantastic as it is right on one end of the main street with shops, bars and restaurants and the vibe in and surrounding the hotel was great.
- Denise (10/5): Super recomendo - Foi excelente a nossa estadia.
- ziziszeelife (10/5): A great place to stay - This was a real oasis in the desert. Lovely staff and quiet accommodation which is just a couple of minutes to walk into the bustling Main Street of town. A special thanks to Sevla and it was also great to meet and chat with Amelia.
Lovely food in the restaurant.
- lorna (10/5): - This is a perfect place to chill out and relax in San Pedro de Atacama. It’s located just a few steps from the main buzzing town. The staff are warm and friendly and the food in the restaurant is excellent.
Pisco sours by the pool area taste really special after being out on the tours.
Thanks go especially to Sevla and it was so lovely to meet the owner too.
- Jay (10/5): - They were nice enough to hold my luggage for a few days while I made the trip over to Uyuni and back. The staff was always helpful and it was great having the patio/porch as a place to enjoy the weather after returning from tours each day.
- Jay (10/5): - It was so great to have the seating area right outside the room to enjoy the nice breeze and prefect weather.
- Praveen (10/5): - Amazing stay. Had a great time at hotel Kimal. Very friendly and helpful staff. Parking available. They packed breakfast if you’re leaving early on tours. Highly recommend!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great staff, friendly and helpful!
- GoPlaces49802644501 (10/5): A lovely hotel, in an amazing place! - The hotel staff were extremely friendly and efficient. They always tried to help with whatever question / query we had.
The hotel was situated very close to the centre of town, but wasn’t noisy.
The room was a lovely little separate shack and was clean and tidy. I would highly recommend this place when visiting San Pedro de Atacama.
- Irene (10/5): - Muy tranquila y limpia
- Franca (8/5): - Schönes Hotel im Zentrum. Hervorzuheben ist das Restaurant. Excellent und preiswert gegessen. Negativ ist die Internetverbindung.
- Elenice (6/5): - Pontos Fortes:
- Christopher (10/5): Great stay in SPdA - Excellent stay. Staff are extremely friendly and accommodating - especially Sevla at reception.
- Dietmar (10/5): Zentral und doch ruhig - Zentral gelegenes und dennoch ruhiges Hotel. Angemessener Preis und guter Service. Gerne wieder.
- Francisco Javier (10/5): - Would stay here again! Highly recommend for anyone traveling to San Pedro de Atacama for tourism!
- Michelle (10/5): Little oasis - Location was great, the hotel had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We found it to be an quiet oasis after long travel excursion days.
- Rafael (10/5): Localização perfeita - Excelente escolha pra hospedagem. A suíte 35 é melhor !
- Thelma Camilo (10/5): Hermoso!
- Chris (8/5): - This is a lovely property and the staff were wonderful. It might be too warm in summer as there is no AC and little ventilation. We would absolutely stay here again.
- Dawn (10/5): - Pleasant stay! Good for value would recommend
- DonitaPo (10/5): Overall great experience - this hotel is very comfortably located in the center of the city, walking distance from all the restaurants, shopping district and the town Square. The rooms are just the right size with independent terraces that are just lovely to sit around.
Everything is impeccably clean , the service is very friendly, and the overall experience is quite comfortable.
Breakfast is amazing and included. If you have to leave before breakfast time, the hotel prepares a snack for you, which is very generous and delicious. at an extra charge, you can eat at the hotel restaurant which has a delicious selection of variety food.
The hotel has a parking lot.
The only downside is the fact that because it is located right in the center of the city, it can be quite noisy at night, so keep this in mind if you’re traveling with small children. At least for me and my family. It was not an issue at all as we were so tired at night that the noise didn’t really affect our sleep.
I highly recommend this place, and I will definitely be staying there again if I return to San Pedro de Atacama.
- Claudio (10/5): - Otima experiência
- Luis (8/5): - It’s a nice place and the staff is very willing to help you
- Yuri (10/5): Both thumbs up. - We really enjoyed our stay at Pablado Kimal. We choose bungalow and it was a great decision. Bungalows were located inside the walled aria which was very green. Every bungalow stand alone with a small porch with table and two chair. Inside was clean and have basic services like a small refrigerator and privet full bathroom. No TV but who needs TV while visiting Atacama! Only one downside is a very slow internet, but it was explained that this is generic for San Pedro. Stuff was excellent and very responsive for all our need. Restaurant was absolutely great. Complementary breakfast was above what do you expect.
- kiwitripper64 (8/5): Nice hotel, close to town - Great staff, very helpful, and the rooms are good but a bit noisy in the evening. That’s ok if you can sleep in, but no one is there for sleep.
Interesting breakfast of cereal, cake, bread and scrambled egg, but it sets you up for the day.
Hot water not always on demand
- Nicolas (10/5): Magical oasis in the middle of desert - Amazing oasis in the middle of the desert. Staff were super friendly and we even got a welcome drink when arriving. Rooms were spacious and beds super comfy. I’ll definitely come back.
- Violeta (8/5): - The room was perfect. The breakfast was good for 3 star hotel. Attention of the stuff was excelent, except of the stuff at reception. Check in process is inconviniant
- Mary (8/5): - We liked the self-contained cabin with its outdoor porch and seating. We did not have a good night's sleep during the entire stay as the neighbor dogs would fight and bark all night. One expects quiet in the desert.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We stayed in the poblado section. WE liked this a lot.
The service was excellent. We also thought the excursion program was veyr good.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Clean comfortable and convenient. - This is a comfortable, clean cabin set up, conveniently located off the main street of San Pedro with great breakfast. Friendly, helpful staff. I didn't get to take advantage of their activities because was there for work. It was not the high tourist season, so there was some noise from construction, but this was understandable and should not be the case other times. Highly recommended.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good location but not worth the price. - Very well located but the construction is bad. Awful bed and pillows. Bad amenities. Good breakfast. Bad lightning. Not worth the money.
- Carol (10/5): Lovely stay in convenient location - A great place to stay in San Pedro de Atacama. It was off the main pedestrian street, so it was quiet. The rooms were basic but clean, comfortable and spacious. Breakfast across the street was OK. Reception staff were friendly and helpful. We had a car and were able to park it on-site. A couple of minutes up the road were all the restaurants and shops. Very convenient to all.
- Janette (10/5): Great hotel close to town - Great accommodation close to the main street. Staff were very helpful and efficient. We were able to organise tours through there own company at short notice. Secure parking and super efficient check in
- Verified traveler (6/5): Poblado Kimal - Hotel staff was wonderful and helpful. Rooms are basic and small. No air conditioning made for very hot nights, even though there was a room fan. Breakfast was good.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location just off the main street of San Pedro de Atacama. The more rustic of the two Kimal hotels, the rooms are actually little cabins connected by a wood boardwalk. Staff were helpful, especially Andrea, offering suggestions about where to eat and what to see.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Extremely friendly staff and overall a great place to stay before heading out on the various tours of the region.
- Iris (10/5): - We stayed at hotel Poblado Kimmal for 4 nights.
The staff was very nice and helpful and also know very good English (which is not so common in Chile).
They provided a breakfast in a box for a trip that started very early and we could not eat at the hotel.
The cabin is very spacious and cozy.
The hotel's location is great and very close to the main street with many shops, restaurants and travel agencies to book tours.
We would like to thank the girl at the reception, that arranged us a private driver in 10 minutes when our transfer to the airport did not come on time to pick us.
- Grazziella (8/5): Central bangalos in San Pedro do Atacama! - Bangalôs displayed in zig-zag on a nice little garden form this hotel’s second location across the street of main one, where restaurant, bar and main pool are! It is a very convenient place to be and surprisingly quiet for the proximity of center of town! Restaurant is good as well. All went well. Bathrooms need an upgrade thow!
- Pavel (2/5): Because of their negligence I have lost $110 - I left my passport at their safe at the front desk. When I checked out in the morning, the security guard did not know how to open it. The transfer van to the airport that I have ordered before could not wait any longer and left. Only when the front dest guy showed up, he was able to open the safe. He informed me that the front desk was only open between 7:30am and 10:30pm, and that I was supposed to get my passport during that time. I had to get a taxi to the airport for $110 US, and the hotel took no responsibility for that.
It is not a cheap hotel: $150/night. This situation could have been avoided several times:
1) the front desk person talked to me the night before because she had no idea how hotels.com (Expedia) would pay for the room since I paid directly to them. I told her that I am leaving very early in the morning, and she could have mentioned about my passport;
2) security guards could follow instructions from the front desk person and open the safe;
3) a hotel that costs $150/night should be able to afford to put safes in each person's room instead of one at the front desk;
4) a hotel that costs $150/night should be able to have 24 hour front desk instead of having security guards that are useless;
5) they could have acknowledged their screwup instead of blaming me and paid the transfer to the airport.
None of this happened. Also, no A/C.
- Rita (10/5): Recommended - Great hotel with comfortable cabins. Its my second time back here, the staff are all really friendly including at the restaurant and the location is central but quiet at the same time
- garry (6/5): - Not worth the money, there's another hotel up the road The Singular witch was really outstanding
- Suzy (2/5): Way too expensive!!!.Not worth it. - If I pay half money for that Hotel,I would not complain, but since the hotel asking so much per night,we expected more.
The bed is very small and uncomfortable, the air in the room is very dry and they don't have air conditioner, windows you can't fully open. Also there is not any TV.I got the nature and staff, but we like to watch TV before bedtime.Beside that the room doesn't have any insulation and it gets pretty noisy.
- Gigi (10/5): Unique Hut concept with a great quiet location - When we first arrived at Hotel Poblado Kimal, we love this place alot as it was built using dry mud, wood and other natural materials, making it a very special hotel. Every room was built as a hut. Though we can check in early but our check in was not a great one, the lady at the front desk spoke little English and we had some miscommunication which lead to rushing and unhappiness for our first day of tour the next day. However, our room is very neat and clean. Hotel amenities is not as much but adequate. Hotel location is on a quiet street which is good as it is quiet & peaceful. But it is also near to the only small town in San Pedro. Everything is within walking distance. Other than the small misunderstandings, we fully enjoyed our stay in Hotel Poblado Kimal and will recommend it to anyone who wish to visit Atacama.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel; great tours - Quaint individual well appointed casetas. Main draw was the private tours with Jiame.
- Forest (8/5): Rustic Luxury, something quite different. - Web spent a very pleasant 4 nights, using the hotel's Excursion service, Excusiones Kimal. We throughly enjoyed the day trips out to see the Geysers, Valle de la Luna, the Lagunas Altiplanicos, Laguna Cejar, mets. The construction of the individual bungalows is of Adobe, wood and reeds. Each has a porch with chairs. Bathrooms are simple with a walk-in shower, no tub. Nice to just relax on your bed and stare at the ceiling/ thatched roof. THe complimentary breakfast is quite good, and the evening meals at the hotel were good, as well. Internet is pretty fast, allowing us to watch a few of our favorite TV shows on the iPad; there is no TV. Bed is very comfortable. Staff quite friendly.
- Conor (10/5): Excellent stay in lovely cabins - We loved our stay in this hotel. The individual cabins are very nice, they are surprisingly spacious, comfortable and cute. While there's no air conditioning the temperature at night even in the middle of summer was quite cool so it wasnt an issue at all. There are two pools available, and the hotel restaurant's food is tasty and good value too. Location is excellent, just off the main street but quiet at night. The hotel service was very good, they have their own tour company which is exclusive to hotel guests. This means the trips are much smaller groups with very good guides and no driving around the town picking up other guests first. The airport transfers were excellent too. Overall we had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend it.
- couple from WA (8/5): Charming, comfortable, friendly - You don't get a room, you get your own cabin, with a thatched roof and your own porch. The design is both rustic and elegant, and visually very pleasing. I really enjoyed hanging out at the pool, or on my porch. The location is convenient, only a short walk to the many restaurants and shops in town. The cabin is spacious, I just wish they used that extra space for a king bed instead of a (very comfortable) double bed. Shower was good, but hot water takes a minute or two to arrive. The staff here works hard. Our room was spotlessly clean. Front desk staff helped me print boarding passes and arrange airport transportation. Breakfast is typical fare in Chile, (sliced ham, cheese, fresh fruit, juices, yogurt, an array of breads and pastry) but you can also get eggs to order. If they delivered food and drink to the pool side patio, I could have enjoyed my stay even more, but the property is not a 5 star resort (nor at 5 star prices). San Pedro is pricey, but I felt this place was a fair value for the price charged. Didn't use the adjacent spa, but others reported their massage was excellent. Wifi was strong, but not consistently. I used the office computer when I needed to complete some important business. Days are blazing hot, Evenings were cool, but it was hard to cool off our cabin with only the tiny desk fan.
- Mickey (4/5): Not 3.5 stars hotel - This is by no means 3.5 stars hotel. The mattress on the bed was sinking in the middle, and the pillows were of very low quality. The staff was nice and they changed the room after I complained. The hot water was on and off. The pools are small and not heated, i.e cold, I would say the temperature was in low 70s. If you are into cold cuts, the breakfast was not bad, but they didn't have eggs. We had lunch in the restaurant once, and it took them well over an hour to serve as grilled fish. The salmon I had was perhaps the worst I ever had, completely soaked in oil. My friends trout looked OK though.
The look if the room was nice (cabins), but their were small.
For $154 a night, this was dissapointing. Their tours were at least double the prices you would pay in town, although their vehicles fid look new.
- hai-hsin (10/5): Great experience - Great service, comfy room, wifi was unstable tho.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Lovely hotel & really helpful staff - The room was great; really comfortable and each one is a stand alone hut with bathroom & porch. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We only stayed 2 nights so didn't use the hotel restaurant, but breakfast was great so I imagine the restaurant would be too.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great hotel - Great room, good breakfast and great location. Wifi in rooms not so great though but that didn't bother me as who needs wifi when on holiday?! Great tours place around the corner too
- Jim (8/5): Quiet and comfortable - Spent two nights at Poblado Kimal after a single disastrous night at a local Air BnB location. Pleasant property that's well located off of Caracoles (the main pedestrian street). The only problem was with the poor internet. Limited range and speed. Our last day the entire system went down for over 8 hours. When a technician arrived (at 10 pm), he evidently installed two new routers that appeared to be much faster and with a much greater range than the previous two. Only used them for a short time but it was a huge improvement. Property has a nice restaurant (across the street) where breakfast is served. Guests get a free drink-ticket upon arrival, which is nice. Also, they will prepare a sack breakfast/lunch for early morning tours or for catching early air/bus transportation. Thas was a real plus as we had to catch the bus at 7:30 am to get to Calama for our 10 am flight.
- Kenneth (6/5): Hotel Kimal - Overall a nice place
Pros:
Location, Tours, Breakfast
Cons:
Wifi didn't work half the time.
Room heaters not working properly
Bed was horrible
- Joseph (10/5): Unique rooms give this appeal - I thought this place was excellent. Staff was helpful, room was large, clean, and well designed. THe property has almost everything you could want. I never had the breakfast or tried the restaurant so I cannot comment.I would definitely recommend SPDA is overpriced in general but this place is great for the money.
- JeongIg (10/5): - this hotel is awesome!
also, if you want to travel to valle del luna and other places, use the kimal excursion.
- Heather (10/5): Cabins and Tours - The rooms are very cool standalone cabins. They are well insulated and stayed plenty warm at night when the temperature outside was pretty low.
Across the street is the Kimal Hotel and restaurant. The free breakfast is ok; lunches and dinners were pretty good.
The hotel offers excursions. We booked tours ahead of time, but the tours from the hotel would have been more convenient though they only offer a few trips a day.
It's a 5 minute walk to the museum and there are lots of little shops and restaurants in town. It was a good location and a comfortable hotel.
- Louis-Martin (8/5): Great stay in san pedro - Excellent location and excellent tours. Check-in efficient but check-out disorganized. Comfortable and clean room. Would recommend.
- Jim (6/5): good overnight stay before or after desert tour - Spartan but functional cottages in San Pedro de Atacama.
- Conor (8/5): Nice Hotel if you don't mind the slow service - The stay was ok. We arrived at 2 pm and were reminded that check-in was not until 3 pm. We were a bit disappointed that no rooms were available at 2 pm, but returned at 3 pm to find that our rooms were still not ready, and told to come back at 3:45. What can I say, it's a hippie town and I guess everyone sleeps late... When we did get our rooms they were great, very charismatic. The hotel also has 2 pools (unheated) and a hot tub. We were given coupons for a free drink on arrival which is always nice (although the piscos were waaay too sour.) We had to leave at 630 AM so the hotel offered to give us an early check-out that evening, and a brown bag breakfast was ready for collection on departure the next morning.
- ronnee (6/5): Mixed review. - OK. The best part of this hotel was that, unlike any other, they have their own tour service (as opposed to the bus-type available in town). It's a bit more costly but smaller groups and excellent guides. Really worth it!!! On the other hand I have been to many hotels in the world…I have NEVER had trouble before getting a print out (i.e. line by line) of my bill. They just wanted to give me a total and I had tours, massages (very good) and dining room bar/stuff on the bill. VERY weird.
- Abhilash (8/5): Excellent hotel, OK service - Rooms are great - just like cabins! Really well thought out. Great value for San Pedro. Walking distance to all restaurants and shops. Safe environment. Only drawback was rooms can get quite hot in early evenings - but we were mostly out during that time. So not a problem.
Service at front-desk was spotty.
- Christy (10/5): Nice hotel in great location - The hotel is located just off the main road in San Pedro de Atacama. The "mud hut" rooms are clean and fun to stay in. The hotel staff were extremely helpful and do their best to make sure that all their guests are happy.
- Mary Angela (10/5): Hotel with charm and friendly service - I had been in San Pedro several times before and I know the challenges of managing a hotel in that area. I was pleasantly surprised at the service and delicious food at this hotel. The rooms were comfortably equiped. Bathrooms well designed (big showers, hot water). The tours organized by the hotel were semi private and well organized.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Lovely hotel - Disappointing customer service by some staff, unhelpful
