- Jessica (9/5): We really enjoyed the stay. We were able to park our car and enjoy our trip without worrying about driving anywhere. - Centrally located in downtown. We did not control the AC.
- Charles (10/5): Overall an extremely enjoyable stay that was absolutely convenient if you enjoy going thru all the old town shops. I wo - My family absolutely loved the historic feel of Pirate Haus and would definitely stay there again. It was at the start of old town which made touring the local shops a breeze. Best of all was the pancakes and hospitality of everyone taking care of the historic building. If you stay there be sure to read welcome book. It was full of great information and sincerely a wonderful read… Property was rebuilt in 1915 after a fire. That being said, the stairs are pretty steep so if you have trouble with those it may not be the place for you. Also the no TV was quirky so take ur iPad if there’s a show you just can’t miss…
- BRUCE (7/5): -
- Megan (6/5): Hostel accommodations for a luxury resort price. - The location. Staff was friendly.
- Jessica (10/5): We really enjoyed the property and the location was perfect! Def a place I will stay again. - Conveniently located. The staff member Jennifer was friendly. The bed was comfortable. Not able to control the A/c.
- John (9/5): A nice place to stay in historic St. Augustine. - The location and staff were great. Oreo was beautiful (see pic). Might have liked a TV in the room.
- Steve (4/5): Not a good fit for us! - The location is definitely the big plus of the place and the owner was nice! My girls (6&9) loved the place, they enjoyed the scavenger hunt and the playroom was nice for them! Our room was clean! It’s very outdated. The bathroom was very old. The kitchen could use some updating, the microwave is not safe to use.
No tv in the room, you have to go in the communal room, same for the kitchen, which can be awkward if the person don’t make you feel very welcomed! We didn’t know that it was “Spanish auberge” style, so we were surprised, especially for my 60plus years old parents. And the only way is upstairs, pretty steep and not easy with heavy luggage.
In the room you find an envelope for leave something for the “volunteer “ cleaning person, which I never saw that in an hotel room where I’m assuming cleaning is included especially for the price of the room.
And be aware that “breakfast included” is ONLY pancakes (delicious BTW) and coffee, no juice or hot cocoa for my kids and no other options!
Also you can hear the street as if the windows are open and at 1am the streets got cleaned which kept some of us awake for 1hour.
Don’t suit people with physical disabilities or older person because of the stairs.
I will not return personally but for youngest people, it can be nice.
- Barral (10/5): Awesome experience! - Staff was awesome. Location was extraordinary. Breakfast was delicious and comfy. Overall Great stay. Nothing
- Debbie (10/5): Enchanting - There was nothing we didn't like
- Gerald (10/5): Staff was wonderful - Great Perfect
- Cynthia (9/5): I'd do it again - The staff was amazing, so helpful went out of their way, met us out front and carried in our luggage..amazing. great experience
- Rena (10/5): Welcoming, comfortable and friendly attributes I experienced during my stay. - The proprietor, Jenny, was so kind and thoughtful. She made me feel right at home. All was well and peaceful. I enjoyed my stay.
- joanna (10/5): perfect place to stay with excitement for the whole family - The room had a treasure hunt for the kids and had a family room with games, books and lots of thigs to do we absolutely loved it , and we each got pancakes with our names on them we loved everything that was there
- Melanie (10/5): Best sleep I’ve had in years. - Atmosphere was exceptional The stairs
- Aylin (10/5): -
- Carlos (10/5): - They are very Friendly and sweet, They make you feel comfortable since you show up. They just have big smiles for everyone. Rooms are clean, And the location for me is the best. You are in the center of everything. No need a car , everything is waking distance. I definitely staying here again. And At that price waooo incredible. I didn't like the fact that I have to go back to reality. Jeje.
- Anna-Maria (10/5): - Loved the location and friendly hostel vibe. Looooooved the scavanger hunt (different in each room).
- HAK LEEM (3/5): -
- Victoria (8/5): Funky fun - Location, playroom, personal pancakes in morning, fun theme, very quirky Facility was more like a hostel, or an old barracks with 6 or more beds in each room (chaos) but not enough room for luggage. Bathrooms were very outdated, and tubs were not usable. Very funky.
- Michelle (10/5): -
- Lindsay (9/5): -
- Kerry (8/5): - The location is great, no need to drive once you're there all sites are within walking distance. Staff/owners are super friendly
- Barbara (10/5): - It was close to EVERYTHING. Pirate Jenny was welcoming, fast & friendly with check -in. The room was very clean . The beds were very comfortable.
The bunck beds are strong an ,comfortable to hold a 220lb. Women . The pancake breakfast was delicious to start your day. I can't say I didn't like because I knew before I went but, it's true check-in an, rooms are ALL UPSTAIRS. NO TV in the rooms except a family room. No parking at the inn but, can park at visitors center with free pass an, the walk back was not far.
- Michael (1/5): -
- maharaj (10/5): - Excellent location. Very friendly staff
- Smith (10/5): The staff is awesome! We even had pancakes with our names engraved in them ready for us in the morning - Very clean and very creative
- Michael (10/5): -
- Sarah (10/5): Next time we are in St. Augustine, we are staying here! - Great location and very friendly and attentive staff! Themed room was huge with private bath and climate controled. Could not ask for a better stay. Facility was a bit dated, but super clean.
- Pamela (8/5): -
- Kelsey (9/5): - Wonderful host with fun breakfast provided. The room theming was extra fun for the kids, especially the "treasure hunt" each room included. The play room was perfect for the kids as well. The location could not be beat! The towels could be a little better. Other than that, we have no complaints!
- Joseph (5/5): Clean and friendly but stairs and sharing a bathroom wasn't my favorite - Clean No tv ,stairs a bit of a pain to deal with
- Tiffany (10/5): Best little spot to stay in st augustine - Such a cute location, adorable rooms with themes... the owners and staff were amazing so nice and considerate even offered to help me bring in my things because I had my 1 year old with me while my husband worked. There are no ac units in each room, they do offer a fan in there and there is a ceiling fan as well. We also bring our own fan just in case so it really wasn't bad we just prefer it very cold when we sleep but honestly it was comfortable.
- Damaris (8/5): We enjoyed staying here. The kids loved the play room and I cannot say enough about how nice the staff was. The beds wer - Loved the location and how friendly and nice the staff was. The noise level outside at times. I do wish we had a TV in the room and the bathroom was a tad more remodeled. It was extremely old.
- Anthony (10/5): - Great location
- Qiu (10/5): - Location and able check in early The breakfast if not included understand but if u offer, just pancake sure not sinecere
- Jennifer (10/5): - Great location and staff. Very helpful and friendly!
- Julie (8/5): - It was neat and a good, fun location. The towels and sheets are my only complaint.
- Melinda (1/5): An experience I wouldn't do again - My son liked the idea of the place being pirate themed. The manager was nice The place is broken down. The food served in the morning is made by the manager. She makes pancakes with fake syrup and margarine. They have a small fridge with filtered water in jugs and apple juice. Its definitely overpriced for what you get. You have to pay 15 dollars to park in their parking lot. If you want free parking they have a garage option that you have no walk 8 minutes to get to. With 6 children, that was not an option, so they got even more money out of me. They close the place at 9pm.
They hide holes in the ceilings with pirate flags.
- Tara (10/5): Great Family Inn - We had a great experience here! It was a fun theme, had everything we needed and was a great location. Kids enjoyed the treasure hunt.
- Leali (5/5): - La limpieza
- Heidi (9/5): A fun unique stay! - The location is great. Half a block from St. George so you can walk it all. You do have to pay for parking, but it was easy enough to find. The inn charges $15 a day. We used the public so we could stay in the spot longer after check out. It was only $5 more to do that.
The staff is great. Small quirky place. The breakfast was yummy. You can’t beat the price for the location. The pillows are a bit thin, but the room overall suited our needs.
- Merche (10/5): Una gran elección - Todo Nada
- Damary (10/5): Love the location - Close to the towny Need a little update
- Francesco (10/5): -
- Chaianan (10/5): - The room is very cozy. Staff are excellent. Cold brew coffee is always in the fridge! Lastly, the hotel is in the middle of everything! The parking fee and additional guest fees are a bit extras that you have to pay.
- Nicole (9/5): We had a great stay. - The rooms were big and had enough beds to not have 2 rooms. The beds were comfortable and the staff was super nice. The parking situation I understand they only have 1 parking spot per room. We just struggled trying to get luggage in and out of the hotel. They have a loading zone but a lot of people park in it. Then we would get yelled by St. Augustine security. The bath tub was older and just didn’t look clean enough for us.
- Bruno (10/5): - It was nice that it was themed, and the whole family enjoyed the rooms. Perfect location and amazing staff!
- McConnell (10/5): Amazing place to stay for travelers who like to have fun! - Amazing location! The bunkbeds were a great room setup for our group. Exceptional staff went above and beyond to make our stay smooth. Small touches like a scavenger hunt is really fun. The kitchen and game room are nice for longer stays or budget travelers to cook. Creaky floors and unavoidable very steep steps.
- Michael (10/5): - Friendly staff, perfect location
- Jacop (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kaufmann (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jennifer (10/5): Perfect Everytime! - Excellent location!
- Adria (3/5): Location very good. - We stayed 2 nights at this facility, owner staff was very helpful and nice. Location is great. Parking at the location was helpful even for additional price is ok. Owner prepares breakfast pancake in a personalized way was nice. The facility needs a lot of improvement, it is an old building like many buildings in this city but it definitely needs a lot of maintenance and TLC, the room was dark, wall decoration is peeling and lack of paint, ceiling has visible humidity and leaking signs at room and bathroom, mattress on bunk beds not comfortable, restroom was not very clean, towels very old, room seems not very clean, the ac at night was extremely cold we had to close the vents since no thermostat in the room, room has no tv, but a small fridge, restroom exhaust vent was clogged and dirty, it feels very humid inside building. The reality is that it has very low value for the money, I paid about $200 per night including parking, it seems high price for what the place offered in comparison with other facilities. The reservation was non refundable.
- Karyn (10/5): Fantastic place to stay with great staff! We’ll be back! - The location can’t be beat! Just a few steps from everything you want to do & see in St. Augustine! If you can’t walk up stairs, you can’t stay here. But that’s not a negative.
- Kimberly (9/5): Historic Treasure - It is in historic downtown St Augustine !!!! It is Pirate Themed !!! They make personalized pancakes !!! There's an outdoor dining area on the roof. A family living room with a big screen TV, board games, and toys (pirate ships). A fully stocked kitchen if you care to cook. They keep ice water in the fridge. The king bed was comfy. There are bunk beds too. Jenny is a fantastic host !!! This is an old building so it does creak and moan a bit. No TV in the individual rooms but wifi is available so bring your electronics. Parking. I, personally, did not have a problem with these things but, in the interest of honest reviews, I felt I should mention them.
- Timothy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alexandra (10/5): Fun, convenient, and affordable with a great breakfast, very family friendly - Location was amazing with free parking available. Host was amazingly friendly and helpful. Fun activities for kids. If you are looking for all brand new appliances and a modern feel this isn't for you. It has more of a rustic charm.
- Villafana (10/5): Exceptional - The location is fantastic and the staff is welcoming and helpful. This is our 3rd time staying there.
- Madelyn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lea (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was wonderful. Super helpful staff. Great area of downtown. It felt like being at home. We enjoyed being able to use the kitchen. Unique experience. Definitely hope to stay again. The wifi was not great, but we didn't need it much, so not really a big deal for us.
- Holcomb (10/5): Back in time - I like everything! The ambience was awesome. The room and the linens were exceptional. My granddaughter especially loved the treasure map! Only that it didn't offer handicap accessories for instance in the shower no grab bar. If you require any kind of assistance then definitely not the place for you. Lots of steps, no handicap accessories at all but I knew that going on so I'm good. Still lives this place!!
- Marcia (9/5): Superb -
- Dean (7/5): Good - The character of the pirates was fun. The facilities were run down / old.
- Paris (8/5): Very good - The location to many of the spots that you want to visit is nice. Enjoyed the fact that once we parked, we did not have to drive anymore. The parking availability made it difficult. I do have a handicapped parking sticker. And I was unloading my car and while unloading. My car in an area that was not marked. Do not park. I received a $35 parking ticket. Unable to cancel or get it deleted. I had to pay the $35 plus I had to pay a $15 parking fee to park near the building..
- Denise (1/5): Don’t stay - no emergency services - Absolutely nothing.. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to complete our stay at this location because we never got to enter it. We were locked out. There isn’t someone available after 9 pm. We received a call about 1 hr before they closed (didn’t know someone wasn’t available at all times at time of booking) stating they would have an envelope for us and text us the details of how we can get to our room. I called and texted several times stating we never received the information promised. We get there at 11 pm and there is no envelope and no information provided on how to enter the property. We were locked out. What made this worse, is it was over memorial weekend so all the local hotels were full! Our family of 5 drove 1.5 hours to Orlando (which was our next destination) and was able to find a place after contacting 5 hotels looking for vacancy. This ruined our trip to St. Augustine. We really wanted to explore this town before our cruise. We drove 13 hours to this location and didn’t even get to enjoy it. Wasted the time and expensive gas going there. They should have an emergency number available for times like this. I contacted booking.com and they are assisting us with this matter. We sadly, though, are still awaiting a response. I definitely WOULD NOT recommend this place after this experience. How sad…
- Brian (9/5): Superb - this is very good deal for families, it was clean and very cool, it also has a family room with board games and such! its directly in the dowtown area which is a huge plus
- Tommy (1/5): Bad - nothing miss lead
- Katarína (7/5): Good - Nice location in old St.Augustine. Close to old touristy town. Great breakfast – pancakes, also gluten-free option. Very noisy, you can hear everything inside and outside. I had problems to sleep the whole night.
- Houston (10/5): Wonderful - Breakfast was good and the lady cooking it was very friendly and funny. My daughter is only two so it was also nice that they had the community room full of toys for her to play with. We loved the pirate theme, my husband and I enjoyed the treasure hunt lol my daughter was too little to understand so we took advantage. I loved the location because again with a two year if I can avoid a car drive after the 9 hours it took to drive from Tennessee I absolutely will. We could walk to everything and we had no problems with ppl partying keeping us up. Felt safe.
- Heather (9/5): Superb - Location is fantastic, walking distance to so many restaurants, bars, attractions. Beds were comfy. Staff/Volunteers very friendly and helpful. There is no elevator.
- Gietzen (8/5): Clever themed hotel with a good value.excellent staff - Location 19 steps up to the rooms
- Daniel (5/5): Passable -
- Waits (8/5): We loved this place and our whole stay here. - I loved the old St Augustine vibes and the pirate theme. It was the perfect location. The only thing I could say is maybe better towels and clothes for showers. Other than that I had no complaints.
- Carol (7/5): Fun experience and convenient location. - Breakfast is good. Kathy is very entertaining. The location is convenient for visiting downtown St Augustine. THERE SHOULD BE ENOUGH PARKING TO ACOMMODATE ONE VEHICLE PER ROOM. FREE PARKING IN A GARAGE 3 BLOCKS AWAY DOESN'T SOFTEN THE INCONVENIENCE!
- Heather (9/5): Superb - Loved the location! Right in the center of town. The staff was so friendly and helpful. We were a family of nine, and our kids said it was their favorite place to stay. It was very kid-friendly and we felt very safe there.
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- Daniel (8/5): A delightful, quirky, fun place! - Jesse, the volunteer, was awesome. He answered all our questions with humor and a smile. The room was clean and comfortable. The bed was also comfy and, because we were in the Captain's Quarters, we had lots of pillows. Location was a great starting place for our adventures. Not much you can do about it, but he stairs were very steep. Although "reading" them as you climb helped. The bathroom/shower, while functional, is showing signs of age.
- Carter (10/5): Exceptional -
- B (9/5): If we come back to St Augustine we’ll stay here again. - The location is awesome. Loved the treasure hunt in the room. Pancake breakfast is great idea. Good coffee. It’s just a little run down which is understandable for the age.
- Outi (10/5): Exceptional - -location
-price
- Erica (9/5): Superb -
- Melissa (10/5): - Staff were great, very friendly and helpful. I would stay here again.
- Gabriel (8/5): - Great location, exciting atmosphere, and a friendly, helpful staff. The closet was a touch scary but the Pirate Haus Inn was an otherwise perfect spot for a group of young travelers.
- Ana (10/5): Great short time stay here. Friendly staff. - It’s in town of St. Augustine. Walking distance to all tourists area, shops, restaurants, bay, and museums.
