Nestled in a fantastic location at the corner of the old city, the hotel is just steps away from a charming street full of character and activity, making it an ideal spot for exploring Chiang Mai. One of the highlights of my stay was the hotel’s "boss" – a delightful Schnauzer named Muffin, who quickly became the heart and soul of the place. Muffin's friendly presence added an extra layer of warmth and charm that made the hotel feel like a home away from home. In terms of value, Tri Gong Hotel is unbeatable. The room rates are incredibly reasonable for the quality of the accommodations and the level of service provided. The staff were consistently helpful, going out of their way to ensure my stay was comfortable and enjoyable. What truly set this hotel apart, however, was their kindness and willingness to go above and beyond for their guests. Early in my stay, I came across a stray beagle running around Chiang Mai with a leash and collar. Not knowing what to do, I brought the dog back to the hotel. The staff immediately stepped in to help. They posted about the dog on a Thai-language Facebook group and worked tirelessly to ensure the dog was reunited with its owner. Their compassion and effort in this situation were far beyond what you’d expect from any hotel and left a lasting impression on me.

• Alex (8/5): - The only problem with this hotel is that the room was dated. The bed was comfortable, the room was quiet, the hotel staff were very friendly. It didn't feel as though the room was dirty, it just felt old. Totally a great option in old town at a very reasonable price.

• Sajid (8/5): - As a solo traveller, Tri Gong was perfect. The location is ideal as it’s within the old city and close to everything. It is only a 2 star and it is basic, but has everything you need. The hotel can do with an update but that didn’t bother me. I just used the place to sleep and store my stuff. The staff at the reception were polite and there were no problems when checking in and out.

Only downside is noise from the street and neighbors. Just bring earplugs and you’ll have a great stay. Muffin, the owners dog is also very friendly.

• Adam (6/5): Over-rated and dirty !! - I was unimpressed with this place, I was given a room next to reception and told the hotel was full, so no other room. As I could hear everyone walking past, I heard some guests arriving and they asked the manager 'is our room on the ground floor?'.. no he replied, you can have an upstairs room. I asked the manager about this and he said 'no they booked a top floor room'... why then are they asking?? It might seem petty but it always disappoints me, this kind of treatment, it doesn't make you feel very welcome. Add to this, my pillowcases smelt very bad, when I told the manager he said 'the cleaner will change tomorrow ' ..and only then after I kept asking him. Finally, a 'little something' left by a previous guest in the toilet which I found upon my arrival, not surprisingly, I wasn't impressed ! Dirty room and very inconsiderate manager.
• K (6/5): cheap place to stay in Chiang Mai - Decent location. Close to many eateries and 7/11. Rooms are clean but dated. A/C is barely working on hot days. It took long time to cool the room also crappy WiFi. most staff are nice but one odd man at the front desk. Has a nice little courtyard for relaxing in. Many temples near by. You can use the red cars to get around or rent a scooter. It's all very convenient within the old city.Also very walkable to the Night Bazaar and Wororot market in chinatown area. I was there during the Loi Kratong festival and enjoyed it very much.

• Stan (10/5): Great location, Reasonably priced, Clean, Quiet - We stayed here for just one night and was impressed by how clean, quiet and well-maintained this place was relative to the price we paid. Its very reasonably priced for hotels in the old city, and the free parking was a big draw for us. Just like most places inside the Old City, its near tons of restaurants, massage parlors and other amenities. The hotel is run by a father and son. The father helped us arrange a taxi to the airport for very early morning through a friend of his. Very kind of him. They also allowed us early check-in once the rooms were cleaned.

• Sonia (8/5): Good location - Nice guesthouse in a cluster of lively bars and restaurants but still quiet and peaceful. Rooms around a nice courtyard with use of kitchen and coffee/tea available. Small balcony with rails to dry clothes was handy. Good to get fresh water in reusable glass bottles and instant electric hot water, much better for the environment. Only bad thing was patchy wifi.

A person is able to sleep in, as the hotel is fairly quiet in the mornings. Great for a short stay since the room prices were very reasonable and the room sizes were also decent. Small stains on the bed sheets and lots of small ants all over the room, but nothing major. All in all it was a good stay.

We stayed in a triple room and the room was more than enough for us to freely move around. Cable channels were great. Only downside was the internet was on and off. But really great stay overall. Few minute walk to the sites. They leave water for you in the fridge. The two terriers in the house barked quite a bit at night and early in the morning.
