- 246jacklyng (2/5): DIRTY BED! THEY DON’T REPLACE MATTRESSES - I only give one star because I’m a fair person. Having a full kitchen and a spacious room is always a plus. The room looked clean upon arrival. I was very excited. The tub had hair in it and not as clean as it should’ve been, but I try to give the benefit of the doubt that my hair falls when cleaning too. I don’t expect housekeeping to wear hairnets, but it’s not a bad idea. A stain on the towel, I guess no big deal. Stains on the counters, wiped with a Clorox wipe. Again, no big deal. Then came time to check the bed. Yes, I did lift up all the sheets because I’m sorry I know better to check for bed bugs before getting settled in. That’s when all the trouble started. The comforter had rips underneath. The mattress “protector” had a stain on it, which I GUESS could’ve been washed and not taken out, but I’m pretty sure that’s what bleach is for, especially since they’re all-white sheets. The mattress itself had what looked like yellow/brown either pee, sweat, or blood stains all in the middle of it and throughout here and there. But that’s what the stained mattress protector is for, right? I understand they can’t throw out mattresses the way you take out the trash, BUT hotels should know better and have waterproof mattress protectors that they can throw out when needed. Even I knew that the minute I purchased my new mattress at home and I’m not running a business. The mattress had what is clearly a big blood stain on the side. That seems like a pretty big exceptional reason to replace the mattress immediately. The pillows had fresh stains on them. And what I mean by fresh is if you touch it, it’ll smear, whatever it was. This is completely unacceptable. All I heard was, “I’ve never seen this before. Idk why you’re having these issues.” Well, neither do I, nor have I seen this before! This isn’t my fault! Before I hear you get what you pay for, there aren’t many great options around here. These photos speak for themselves. After speaking to some friends about it/showing pics and hearing that I’m not being dramatic, I politely asked for another room/for a refund so I could go stay down the street. I was told no, I missed my window to do that. This is by far the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had and would NEVER recommend anyone to stay here. What a headache and nightmare this has been. To leave your guest uncomfortable, in distress, and now sleep deprived is outrageous.

Second, our room wasn’t 100% clean, there were stains on walls that were easily wiped away, hair still on the bathtub and floor of the bathroom and I don’t think they even mop the floors in the room…spilled water on the floor and wiped it to see that a white paper towel turned black. I did like the convenience of the location. The pool was nice. Other parts of the staff was nice. But that was about it. Probably wouldn’t stay here again.

- E2722ZAjamesr (8/5): My stay in May - A Pleasant Surprise at Candlewood Suites Corpus Christi After reading some of the recent reviews, I arrived at Candlewood Suites Corpus Christi-Naval Base Area with a bit of trepidation, particularly concerning front desk interactions and room conditions. However, I'm happy to report that my experience was overwhelmingly positive. I encountered no rude staff at the front desk, which was a significant relief given past complaints. It seems possible there's been a change in personnel or management has addressed the issues, as the team I interacted with was professional and courteous. Similarly, the room I was assigned had no issues whatsoever. Despite previous reviews mentioning dirty or smelly rooms and AC problems, my room was clean, fresh-smelling, and the AC system worked perfectly. It was a comfortable and hassle-free stay. An added bonus was finding the pool area open. It looked like it had recently undergone some work, as I noticed yellow "caution" tape that had been pulled down but not fully removed. This suggests a recent reopening, which also extends to the adjacent grill and patio side. It's great to have these amenities available for guests. Overall, my stay at Candlewood Suites Corpus Christi-Naval Base Area was a pleasant surprise and a stark contrast to some of the negative feedback I'd seen. It seems they've made significant improvements, making it a good option for travelers in the area.

Opened window to a boat repair shop, not a nice scenery. Stray cats in parking lot, laying around on cars. Missing picture from the picture frame in the room.

Close to everything and the pricing was 50% less than staying in Port Aransas Area. The views and scenery are amazing with great proximity to everything. HEB/Walmart/Starbucks/Gas Stations/Shopping are all close by. Amanda and Nancy at the Check-In Counter are sweet and amazing...thank you Candlewood Suites for a great vacation week!

Beds were comfortable and the room had more than what i expected or needed. A large refrigerator, stove, cooking utensils, etc. The room was clean. I don't think they had continental breakfast. I only saw apples in a basket on my way out.

- Daniel (2/5): - I know Expedia cannot possibly keep up with every Hotel that is on their site. This hotel has breakfast included on the site, but no breakfast or mention of a breakfast at the hotel. The hotel is also listed as 'Pet Friendly', but it is hardly pet friendly. When I checked in, I was hit with a $75 pet fee.... NOT a deposit, but a pet fee. Not a very nice surprise. I may have let this slip, but in talking to another guest that was leaving when I was, she had a pet and was charged as well. To make matters worse, her dog is a registered service dog, and HAS stayed at the hotel before, but the other guest forgot the service vest. The staff would not budge. I think the staff has been warned by the managers or owners to never let the $75 extortion pet fee slip or they could get in trouble... I have stayed at this hotel 5-6 times over the past 4 years. Never again.... it is the hotel's responsibility to keep Expedia up to date since a large portion of their bookings come from Expedia.

I had already booked and canceled another hotel that was on the beach because of reading the reviews and the cost. I was going to throw in the towel and just not go. I’m glad I didn’t! I booked the Candlewood a few hours before we left. The room was great size, a little stuffy when we first walked in but once we adjusted the temp and ran to Walmart it was much better. The kitchenette was great to have as an added bonus! Wish the pool was a tad bit bigger but it served its purposes! A place I would have no problem rebooking in the future. Thank you for the hospitality and a good clean place.

- Bogdan (4/5): - It was a good stay but I had found roaches and it took them a good while to take care of them. On top of this while looking for the roaches I had found a syringe between the bed and nightstand and that was unacceptable. They fixed it at the end but I wish they would improve on that for the future stays.

- BRIAN (6/5): - Noisy work going on outside our window on the side of the hotel!! We weren’t informed of this while checking in or we may have went elsewhere!! Just rotten fruit offered for breakfast. Tub was very slippery due to the old gripping being removed (still could see the imprint). Bed was comfortable and room was dark. Large fridge and sink which is always nice. PS. Put a towel down in the tub to keep from slipping on my arse!! Just an average place.

- luvmy32000 (8/5): Close to oso bay - I stayed here on points for one night on a fishing trip down to chorpus christi. It's a nice decent hotel. Close to the bay and convenient to the bay. It's right next to oso bay Bridge turnaround which is always a good location for fishing. Nice clean and comfortable rooms.

- christopherhE5790CQ (2/5): Hotel gave away our guaranteed room and refused to refund our money--holy cow! - Booked a suite with a pull-out sofa with a guaranteed late check-in. However, after driving more than three hours to get there, the check-in person said she had given away our room and replaced it with a single-bed room. At first, as I looked around the very dirty lobby with a hot-glued plastic partition between the front desk and guests checking in, I thought maybe I don't have to stay in this place, but then I realized, we had no place to sleep! Crazy! The very rude check-in attendant promised to refund my money, but after talking with the manger, refused--holy crap! Now I have to go to my credit card company to try to get my money back. Do yourself a favor, pay an extra $10-$20 and book a better place. You will thank yourself...really.

- Susan (8/5): Good place to stay. - Grest location. Carts to haul luggage was a definite plus. Little room to buy snacks and soup and other items with reasonable prices. Would definitely stay there again. Staff was friendly and accommodating.
- Maribel (10/5): College Visit Stay - This is a very nice place. Only thing I missed when I booked the room was breakfast. However, the room had a really nice kitchenette. I just didn’t take advantage of it. This hotel is pretty close to the school with a Chick-fil-A right down the road. Very comfortable and convenient.

- 23ceeceew (2/5): Dirty room! - The hotel looked clean when entering the lobby but the room was filthy!! Carpets were dirty with spots and no one had vacuumed near baseboards. The silverware in the drawer had smudges of food on the handles and back of utensils. Pulled back comforter and there was black dog hair, spots, & dirt. The bathroom was cleaned all the way and the toilet was dirty and the countertop had dirt specks. The front desk sent housekeeping up right away and they changed the linens and cleaned the toilet and were very apologetic. They were supposedly a different crew than the one that worked the weekend. The front desk gave my friend a $2.00 drink voucher for her trouble. A cleaner room would have been a better choice. I have stayed at a Candlewood Suites in San Antonio that was near the Air Force base and it was immaculate! I expected the same here but definitely did not get it. .

- Tom (10/5): This is a nice place to stay! - We were very happy with this hotel. The room was clean and comfortable. The full sized fridge and kitchenette would have been very handy if we had stayed for more than 2 nights. The pool was clean and relaxing. We would definitely stay here again.

Free laundry machines was nice to find. Pool kinda small.12 guests max in pool. Beds comfortable. Didnt care to find the pet hair in room.

- Monique (6/5): - YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR... We chose this hotel because of its price. Although we stayed the entire time we had booked, we will never stay here again. The lobby of the hotel was updated and nice. However, overall I would call this hotel tolerable. Our room was very worn, outdated, and not very clean. Immediately after we checked in, I spilled water on the floor. I used a washcloth to wipe it up. When I was done, the washcloth was black...yuck! The furniture had worn spots and one chair had been clearly ripped up by a cat. The room had a strange smell too, maybe because it is a pet friendly hotel? We were told upon check-in that there would be fresh fruit every morning, but almost every day there was hardly anything at all. Additionally, there was no service to the room unless you stayed for 7 days. We were there for 4 days, and since the room was not really clean when we got there, it definitely needed to be cleaned at some point during our stay. Another thing that we found odd: the hotel had guests bring dirty towels to the front desk to trade them in for fresh ones. The front desk person would count out how many towels we brought, and replace them with only the amount traded. The process made us feel like we were untrustworthy and were being closely monitored as if we were going to steal very basic hotel towels.

- DuncanPutter (8/5): Full Kitchen - Road trip to Mustang Island, stopped here to bed for the night. 15 minutes to the beach. Pro's Full kitchen, 2 queens, view of the Bay, quiet. Con's No breakfast, No safebox, on the high side for this level accommodation. Stayed on the forth floor away from the freeway. During the day they were fixing a water leak next door to our room. They were finished by 5. Very easy in and out. We also stopped in at the Black Diamond Oyster Bar. It was all very laid back.

- Lillian (10/5): - Nancy at the front desk was awesome! The room was big with a stovetop, microwave, and full size refrigerator. Beach was nearby. The pool was small, but there was ample space on the patio. Overall, it was a wonderful experience!
- Joshua (10/5): - Everything was great except for the parking area. Its too tight and crowded to get in or out of a spot, so if you have a truck beware!
