Emplacement idéal pour aller dans le centre historique de Matsuyama avec son onsen fabuleux Salle de repos très agréable avec des cloisons arty Les sanitaires sont très réduits pour les chambres en bas, 2 douches et espace sanitaire tout petit. Peu ou pas de place pour installer ses affaires de toilette, un peignoir et une serviette Salle de repas peu attirante, ressemble à un mini restaurant d'entreprise. Équipement, tables/chaises et décoration pas attrayants du tout Arrivée tardive payante!

• Flavio (8/5): A proper traditional ryokan in Dogo - It's great if you want to experience the traditional ryokan without the modern feel that most ryokan nowadays have. You will feel like you're staying at your imaginary rich Japanese grandma's house and that a murder mystery party is happening any minute. It has a great vibe if you're into that and will not disappoint. You might have to share a toilet with just 1-2 other rooms. I think that's fine, but some people don't like that. They also only offer a small onsen if you manage to book it (we didn't get to try it). The staff is very limited, so you might have to wait a little bit for check in, but they are super friendly and great if you even want a conversation. It has a bit of a fancy hostel vibes, in the sense that they encourage community and hanging out together in the modest common area, if you want. It's a bit pricey all things considered, but maybe we booked on a very busy day.

• Gregor (7/5): - Die Lage ist sehr gut. Das Hotel liegt im Onsenbezirk und alles ist fussläufig erreichbar. Leider war die Lüftung des Nachbarhotels so laut, dass wir nicht schlafen konnten. Außerdem fanden wir die Begrüßung nicht sehr nett. Man bekommt viele Regeln aufgezählt und eine Preisliste, was man bezahlen muss, wenn etwas kaputtgeht. Willkommen fühlten wir uns nicht.

Auch das Frühstück war hervorragend! Das Haus wird im wahrsten Sinne des Wortes überschattet von einem riesigen Hotelbau direkt daneben. Es wäre schön, wenn man sich das Bett nicht selbst machen muss - so wie in anderen Ryokans üblich.

• Sophie (6/5): - Ancien ryokan avec du charme et situé à quelques pas de l'établissement thermal historique. L'accueil était courtois mais axé avant tout sur ce qu'il ne fallait pas faire et le fait qu'il y aurait une inspection à notre départ pour vérifier que nous n'aurions rien abîmé. Il n'y avait aucune chaise ou fauteuil dans la chambre ( contrairement aux photos du site). La chambre était bruyante à cause de la climatisation dehors. Le ryokan était très cher alors qu'il n'y avait ni toilettes ni lavabo dans la chambre.

We needed to have a place to stay before flying out and booking here again was a no brainer vis a vis the price / quality. Read the instructions and expectations of the amenities before you go so you know what to expect. This is not the usual hotel. Go to the public baths in the area to make the most out of it. All ok.

It is very well connected to the onsens in the area making it easy to go to dinner and then to the baths right after. All was ok.

• Andrei (9/5): Authentic Japanese house near Dogo Onsen - We liked the property a lot, but it is worth knowing in advance what this place offers. The tatami mat rooms can be uncomfortable for some people and the shared toilets are for sure another inconvenient. What you get though is a traditional Japanese house. We especially liked the private onsen experience and the decorations in the room. We also liked the proximity to Dogo onsen, it’s a 5 minute walk away. With literally paper thin walls you are at the mercy of your fellow travelers, bring ear plugs.

Même si le personnel s'est excusé, nous n'avons jamais reçu de réponse à mes demandes répétées de laisser nos bagages. Soi-disant qu'ils n'ont pas vu mes messages. Je n'y crois pas et je pense que c'était volontaire vu la standing de l'établissement. Nous avons donc dû transporter ts nos bagages jusqu'au soir ( environ 40 kgs à 2), trouver des consignes à pièce etc... Je ne recommanderai pas pour cette raison. La cuisine est un cheap également par rapport au reste de l'établissement. Dommage car l'endroit est incroyable.

• Valerie (7/5): Bon emplacement pour cette belle auberge traditionnelle mais accueil non aligné avec le tarif. - L’emplacement, au cœur de Dogo Honsen, est vraiment génial, l’établissement traditionnel est très beau et les chambres relativement grandes. L’établissement est enfoui au milieu de tours d’hôtels et d’immeubles … ce que l’on ne voit pas sur les photos. Mais surtout, nous n’avons pas trouvé le service attendu pour le prix que nous avons payé. L’accueil n’était pas professionnel : nous avons voulu respecter les consignes en arrivant à 18h, comme précisé dans un message reçu. (La réception ferme .. à 20h). Sauf que 18h c’était déjà trop tard pour réserver le petit déjeuner, par contre, nous avons été submergés de recommandations inutiles. Le lendemain, nous sentions vraiment que nous gênions dans la cuisine où nous voulions nous faire nos thés- cafés. Pour ce prix, c’était vraiment décevant.

The yukata was nice and the tea ceremony was unique and fun. The door to the bathroom was a bit loud during the night. The window stayed slightly open during the night which made it a bit cold.

L'établissement Dougoya se trouve à proximité de tous les lieux d'intérêt à Dogo onsen. Je recommande ce logement.

We booked time in the shared onsen and it was a lovely way to relax and enjoy the famous onsen water without the crowds in town. Shared bathrooms. • Chen-yu (8/5): - 位子很棒、這次我選的是有包含溫泉時間的房型，時間很充裕裡面溫泉的設備也蠻完善的人員會講簡單的英文，但我覺得非常不推薦的地方是房型必須共用衛浴設備。所以以這一個價格來說不包含衛浴設備CP值有點偏低，而且道後商店街很多店家6:30七點就關門了，也沒什麼地方可以逛。

• Joanna (10/5): Excellent location and atmosphere - Excellent location within short walk from Dogo Onsen. Japanese style rooms quite big. Very professional and helpful staff . Recommendation of restaurant was very fair. No lift- little bit difficult with 3 kids and 5 big suitcases. Limited view from the windows- in the wall of nearby hotel with big air conditioning machine so quite noisy.

• Justin (10/5): Stay here, it's really nice. - A beautiful building with a really friendly and helpful proprietor, and a short walk from Dogo Onsen. Our room was right beside the loud HVAC system of the hotel beside us. Truly not the end of the world, I just thought it would be worth mentioning. This is why a smart traveller always brings earplugs.

• Joseph (6/5): Pleasant - We were extremely excited to stay at Dougoya but sadly it fell at every hurdle. On arrival we were met with very strict rules and staff telling us the consequences of each item that could be broken. The room had a stale sweat / urine smell that wasn't great and the bedsheets didn't appear to fit. When we went to ask the front desk, they had left it more than half an hour early, so we couldn't ask for help. I awoke to a staff member being exceedingly irate and rude as I made my way to the bathroom because we had parked our bikes off the main path and disturbed the moss (which we had not). Regardless, the way the situation was handled was horrible. Overall, this was a stressful stay in a place that we were to fearful of to get comfortable
• Lea (10/5): Most welcoming hosts - A truly special place with beautiful traditional charm. Hisa-san's and Gen-san's warm hospitality made us feel very welcome and well cared for. The little private onsen is nice, and the famous onsens of Matsuyama are within walking distance, and we got great recommendations for restaurants nearby. We enjoyed our stay here very much. Dougoya is surrounded by large hotels with noisy ventilation systems running through the night, but honestly, our experience at this place was so lovely, one could overlook that fact.
• Jordyn (9/5): Absolutely GORGEOUS inn - The staff were so friendly and helpful. The building itself was gorgeous, inside and out, and it was a really cool experience to stay in a more traditional inn! The manager did a tea ceremony for us the morning we were leaving, too! I highly recommend trying the private onsen bath as well, it was really relaxing and a perfect balm for our muscles after a lot of walking and sightseeing. There was only one toilet, which was a bit inconvenient on the day we were checking out because people were using the area for getting ready (blow-drying/straightening their hair etc). There are two other sinks in the room with the private bath I was able to use to wash up, but we had to wait a long time to use the toilet.

• Laura (9/5): Good ambience. Nice host. - The proprietor Hisa-san takes good care with many details at his old Japanese style inn. It is attractive and comfortable. Probably we wouldn't have bothered with the private bath option. There are many public baths around the city and it might have been more interesting (and better value) to do that instead.
