Guest Reviews
- Tristan (6/5): Convenient - Convenient location, value for money. Rooms were a little too open along the corridor. Especially the frosted windows where people can roughly see what is going on in the room. Conversations can be heard coming from the corridor.

- Irshad (6/5): - Nothing just a neat room without any kitchen or breakfast facility. It's overall expensive in comparison of facilities
- Anchalee (1/5): The price is not cheap can book at holiday inn express in Orchard with the upgrade price to with bath room here - Nothing. It was a mistake booking this hotel Nothing
- Henock (1/5): DO NOT GO THERE - La couette était quand même bien No breakfast
It was the filthiest dirtiest place I’ve never seen in my life for their price
I think there are better place in Singapore with the amount they be charging and on top of that they are asking for 100 SG$ they say it’s a security deposit in case you destroy their old fourniture what a joke😂😂

- kim (6/5): - We loved the quirky art deco architecture of The Great Madras, which is why we chose the hotel. The last renovation was modern but in keeping with the deco style. The room was tiny, and the bathroom was confused as to whether it was a toilet or shower, but the bed was comfortable and pillows soft. There was no service for the room, and we would have loved a new towel. The location is a live-wire of sights, sounds and smells as the hotel is in the heart of Little India with transport options close by and yummy, cheap food options. Overall, a good experience.
- Sanjay (4/5): - Room is very small, no wardrobe, and price are very high according to Room condition
- Pearl (4/5): -
- Wenzel (10/5): Tolles Hotel. - Tolle Unterkunft in einem spannenden Viertel. Keine Beschwerden.
- hyerda (8/5): -
- Dasanayake (6/5): -
- Natalie (2/5): - The location was good. It is central to everything and just a few minutes walk from the hawkers center and train. DON'T STAY HERE.
Every aspect of this place is REALLY bad!
They demand a $100 security deposit.
I was issued a windowless storage room with a mattress on the floor and a dank shared bathroom, broken power point, and light, and the lock didn't work. To reach the only other power point, you have to walk over the matress which was damaged. All for $120.
I complained that this was certainly NOT what was depicted in the photos and demanded a refund because I was leaving.
I was told there would be no refund for the remaining 4 nights, and if I wanted anything better, it was an extra $60 a night.
The new room was still so tiny that the bed was pushed into a corner in order to be able to move around it.
Again, the light was broken. The door to the cupboard sized bathroom opened out because the shower was right in the door with the toilet beyond.
The shower rose was broken and streamed down the wall. The toilet cictern , once flushed, would fill and flow over for 5 minutes.
Other guests also complained.

- Nik (8/5): Very good -
- Dsivakumar (5/5): Passable -
- Lakeshmi (9/5): Superb -
- Klaus (6/5): customer service chance - The hotel must advertise clearer that some rooms are shared bathroom ... i arrived to realise i had booked wrong room, and was then charged a premium which took me past entry and mid level hotel prices for Singapore ... as a client you AWAYS feel used, if not abused.
A hotel with good to outstanding customer service would have upgraded me at no cost ... securing a repeat customer, and a good review - a shame.
Front office staff seemed not empowered to make a decision like this or lacked that extra bit of customer focus. Even a small fee would have been okay. A high premium a no perhaps!
- Harmesh (4/5): - The room was very small and filthy. The washroom sink was clogged there was no hand soap. The booking was for three people, we had one bed between three of us. Spoke to the front desk she informed me there would be a cost of $40.00 for a foldable bed. If I booked for 3 adults why should I have to pay for the third adult. Extra towels were not offered. No waste baskets in the washroom. I was very disappointed.
- Ashwin (4/5): - There was no proper Wifi in the facility and AC is not working
- Tapas (2/5): - Bad service
- Singhi (1/5): Never stay at TGM! - nothing to like in that place- needs a lot of work and the price for that place is outrageous There was nothing to like- for the price paid- it was severely below standard! same thing for their other sister properties- Hotel Calmo Bugis
- YOGESH KESHAV (4/5): Don’t try it at all - It was a very bad experience for us. As we were three of us staying, the largest room offered was at the ground floor right next to the bar which remained noisy almost all night long. The days laundry was stored right in front of the door making it difficult to walk through. Rooms are not cleaned unless asked for. No phone in the room so if you need anything, be prepared to walk to the front desk. Some people at the reception weren’t polite at all. Better hotels available at this rate so why waste your hard earned money?
- Modan (1/5): Bad - Nothing Everything
- easan (6/5): - Reserved for 3
Room wasn’t even enough for one
- Giridharan (6/5): Pleasant - too noisy as there were pubs nearby that was blasting music all through the night
felt unsafe
they need a deposit which has to be paid in cash and they do not provide a receipt for the deposit paid.

- Verified traveler (8/5): As described. - We were anxious having seen other reviews after booking however our expectations were exceeded - we found the rooms were as described and pictured, and the beds and sheets very comfortable. The rooms we booked were basic and small but with great facilities and a very good price.
- VINEEET (8/5): - While do in check in that staff was not cooperative
- Plt (10/5): Good - Very near little India
- Muneer (2/5): - When i booked the stay no were it said it is a shared bath room. when i landed there they said it is a shared bath room. I had to pay additional amount to convert the room to pvt bath room
- Shoma (2/5): Bad experience with not friendly staff - Location Staff not friendly. I didn't know got free WiFi. Counter staff not friendly at all. They only ask your documents and deposit. Other than that no information given. During my stay is raining season, I asking reception to borrow umbrella because I wanted to go nearby place to get some dinner but the staff say no umbrella but obviously I can see umbrella there. If you see anyone give good reviews just because the property offer you SGD 30 if I give them good reviews. The bed all so dusty can see in the picture.
- Madushan (1/5): Once in a month am visiting a country. This type of dirty hotel and I have never seen in my life. - No Comments - I could not take from here Washrooms are not clean well. water gathering
- Md (6/5): Pleasant - Great location

- Andaya (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rana (2/5): Very poor -
- Ni (8/5): Very good -
- Supramaniam (1/5): Bad -
- Shoma (2/5): Very poor - Strategy location. Air condition not cool at all. Room and toilet too small. Not suitable for 2 pax. Very noisy all over night from clubbing nearby. Lighting very bad. Should have to renovate this place.
- Oluwatosin (1/5): Terrible - It was terrible Everything
- Shahriar (5/5): You get what you pay for - Location, unbeatable pricing. We had stayed here in May’24 so we decided to try it once again in Aug’24. However was not pleased this time. But for the price I learn to ignore the short coming It is run down room, the house keeping needs improvement. The toilet, counter and balcony was dirty when we checked in. The tv was damaged, even came off from wall; had to put it on the floor to avoid further damage (at least the hotel did not charge me for the already damaged to, but one thing I learned document any damage you notice at the time of check in to avoid headache later on). Air condition was not up to the mark. Felt hot most of the time.
- Harveen (1/5): Don’t waste your money in this hotel. It’s not a hotel it’s more like motel sharing bathroom and the worst part is it’s - Nothing They made us to wait until 3 for the check in even when the room where ready. And in the booking it was not state it’s a sharing bathroom and for 85sgd the room is like a doom
- D (6/5): Very peculiar hotel in the heart of Little India - This is a peculiar little hotel - I loved the art deco looks and the kooky little swimming pool on the first floor, the way the reception is open to the street, if undercover. The guy on reception lacked charm, he was not exactly rude, its just he seemed very distinterested in me having turned up, despite the fact I had just spent 8 hours on a plane and an hour on the metro getting there.
- Zuri (1/5): Bad -
- Anis (1/5): Bad - nothing didnt expect the room to be this small
- Jay (4/5): - If you book a waste of money
Poor maintenance
Don’t believe on picture on website No consideration
No good customer satisfaction
Total money waste
- Mohammad (4/5): Disappointing -
- Revathi (1/5): Bad - They are frauds who cheated us ,was a huge scam the pictures in the website and the rooms we got were different. they had posted a picture of executive room for a dorm room booking .they made us pay extra for not so good room and the staffs were not hospitable as well
- Safic (5/5): Passable -
- Tuan (8/5): Very good -
- Anushka (1/5): Bad -
- Chan (2/5): Very poor -
- Jan (1/5): Plenty of cockroaches - Nothing In summary, it was unpleasant and facilities in hotel are not worth the price you're paying. VERY RUDE STAFF
- Khagendra (1/5): Bad -
- Verified traveler (6/5): Not worth at all. - Hotel looks quite nice in the picture. In reality it has a reception that opens on the Road.. No aircon. So if one has to wait for some time to get the room, there is no place to sit. Overall not worth the price. Folks at reception are of no help at all. They have stock answers for any and every query.
- Anne (1/5): Absolutely Disgusting – Avoid at All Costs ! - Nothing I wish I could give zero stars. This hotel is filthy! They didn’t even change the bed linen after the previous guests. Just look at the pictures – it’s disgusting! There were bins right in front of the lobby. Unfortunately, we were stuck there for one night as we arrived late, and they refused to give me a refund for the upcoming nights. This place is a scam. Don’t trust any positive reviews – they offer 30 SGD to people for writing them. Worst hotel ever!
- Cyrus (2/5): It was a shitty hotel. The towels are smelly, the room doesn’t even have curtains. The room is so tiny. Looks really sha - Nothing Everything
- Gangadhdra (1/5): Will not go again - Location Small congested room and no proper AC. It was too hot and uncomfortable
- Mohamad (4/5): NOT Great Madras - The location - Easy access to MRT, mosque and halal food. 1. The reception - The front office person was condescending when I asked if it rained in the evening, his reply was "I don't know the weather forecast." In the evening the person who was supposed to be at the front desk was outside the hotel area and I had to call for her, and she appeared from the side of the hotel. For the price that I paid, I could've stayed somewhere else with better services.
2. The room interior - It desperately needs an upgrade. Cheap polyester beddings? NO. The wall needs to be freshened up.
3. The TV stations are limited to chinese and indian channels. The remote in my room didn't work and I had to ask twice for the front office to help. A guy reeked in alcohol came into my room to fix it, he was polite but it was so not professional on behalf of this hotel.
4. The pool was in a sad condition. Some hotel guests even dried their wet clothes at the pool area. GOD!
5. The hotel even offers some cash rewards for positive feedback. You can read all about it inside their lift and in the room. How tacky is that?
Mind you, I used to stay here when it was newly opened and the experience was amazing. Oh how the mighty has fallen.
In summary, it was unpleasant and I propose for the hotel to just be closed down. That's all.
- Elgine (7/5): Good -
