Guest Reviews
- Lowell (10/5): - Beautiful mountain spot with excellent dining. Great for that special occasion.
- Oshadhi (2/5): - Really really old location, nothing like the pictures and for the price you’re paying might as well stay at a cheap motel. Landscaping is terrible no phone service nearest town is 37 mins away. Really terrible experience. Air conditioner did not work. Coffee maker did not work. Do not recommend. Pictures must’ve been taken when the location first opened but it does not look anything like that anymore.
- Maria Elena (4/5): - The rate for an overnight stay in this lodge is like the rate of a four star hotel and yet the place do not have air condition and the wifi is terrible. They have nespresso machine in the room but no coffee pods and their ice machine is out of order.
- Mina (4/5): - Very poor quality service. They didn’t even clean our room after the first night.
- Karen (4/5): - In the middle of no where with nothing to do and no services. We could not walk on the trail in the evening because we were warned to have bear spray.
They do not offer breakfast but have a restaurant. Extremely limited menu and nothing really for vegetarians.
Some of the staff were rude, some were very nice.
Thermostat did not work. No air condition and hot rooms.
Right on the hiway with terrible road noise. Had a warning posted for their well water and they offered bottled water at check in but not in restarant.
We left the next morning and forfeited our remaining stay.
- Colleen (6/5): - Booking and check in was easy. The area was beautiful with mountain scenery. Our room was clean but we saw several spiders in the room. The towel supply was minimal and we didn’t have a bathmat. Staff was wonderful and the restaurant on site was amazing
- Adam (10/5): - I've driven past the Heather Mountain Lodge 1,000 times. I was really happy to stop and spend some time. The kids had a great time with the outdoor games, the staff here was great, the food was good, and the accommodations were nice :) I look forward to stopping in again :)
- Christopher (10/5): - Michelin star food and service, attention to detail, lovely property and staff!
- Stephanie (10/5): - Staff was incredibly helpful. Peaceful. Remote. Stunning location.
- Hanzhen (10/5): Chill by the highway - The only hotel I find come with a foaming hand wash.
- Johannes (10/5): - The newly updated rooms, beds and bathroom are really nice and super clean.
The restaurant on-site is fantastic. The prices are reasonable considering the uniqueness and quality of the food served.
The hotel and restaurant staff are very friendly and professional.
I highly recommend Heather Mountain Lodge.
- DAVID (10/5): - The staff were very welcoming and helpful. Their restaurant’s chef and waitstaff prepared and served us culinary delights for our dinner and dessert, as well as breakfast the next morning.
- Lisa (10/5): Just awesome - Great hidden gem. The supper at the restaurant, delicious!
- christopher (8/5): - Outstanding restaurant 5 star whereas accommodation 3 star
- Brodie (10/5): - The Lodge was beautiful, only to be outdone by the amazing view of the mountains. The restaurant was delicious with many of the veggies from their garden on site. And they are dog friendly too!
- Nguyen (8/5): - Great restaurant on site. Maybe the best I’ve ever eaten at.
Facilities are just ok however (hot tub has seen better days, sauna is nice). Do NOT get a ground floor room in the lodge. If you have a bad neighbour like we did, they will keep you up all night. Soooo loud.
- Tanya (10/5): - Very happy with our stay there. We only stayed 1 night but already planning to return for an extended stay next time. The rooms were spacious and clean.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, because we were arriving late they called to let us know that the restaurant closed at 9pm so if we needed to we could stop on the way and grab some food before our arrival and we wouldn’t be hungry and disappointed.
- Andrea (10/5): - The stay was amazing. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Would be nice to have more tv. The scenery was beautiful. The staff very friendly
- Jim (10/5): - Staff was top notch
- Muhammad (6/5): - Nice place to stop over.
- Chayan (4/5): - We wanted to like, and love, this property.
Likes: interesting location, friendly staff.
Dislikes: 1. no heart. We went to celebrate our son's 18th birthday, had mentioned that during booking and before dinner reservation at Kindle, but neither the server nor any staff offered up a happy birthday wish.
2. No housecleaning. We were never told during booking or during check-in that no housecleaning is available. Stayed 4 nights, and the room became disgusting towards the end in spite of our best efforts.
3. Limited dining option. Kindle is expensive, especially for dinner. Only choice for meals. Nearest place for food is Golden, 55 kms and 40 minutes away. Dinner at Kindle can be great (very expensive steak) to downright bland (boring salmon prep, at just under $40).
4. Location is right off and right beside Hwy-1. Coming to the property from Golden, you turn right to exit, signaling carefully and showing down safely from a 100 km/hr speed zone to take a sharp right turn. Coming from Glacier National Park (coming in east from Revelstoke) is an awful experience, as you have to turn left with traffic behind and in front. Can be downright dangerous.
- Jacqueline (8/5): - Beautiful property, really friendly and helpful staff. View is amazing.
- Aman (8/5): - Very good
- Carl (2/5): - nice
- Chris (10/5): - The restaurant and lounge in the main chalet are unbelievable. The cuisine is absolutely five star. Try the bees wax cured steak cooked on a wood fire grill! All while staring out into the Rockies. The serving staff are true professionals as well. Rooms are very modern (no ac but it cools down exponentially when the sun disappears) I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
- Darcia (8/5): - Simple but lovely,
- Rosslyn (8/5): Wonderful surprise - it was better than expected. - Excellent- but no fridge in the room and ice machine broken.
- Michelle (8/5): - Views
- Paul (10/5): - Lovely views, staff and good food.
- Peter (10/5): A must do place to go. - It was a wonderful stay, loved every minute. The bed was so comfortable.
Thanks to all the staff & personnel for making it possible!
Peter & Melody
- Michelle (10/5): - Beautiful location. Restaurant outstanding.
- Robert (8/5): - Restaurant is a gourmet experience
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We absolutely loved this place. We stayed here on a whim, and we ended up having the whole property to ourselves. The staff were extremely welcoming and went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed every moment of our stay. We wish we booked more than one night - we didn't want to leave!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great stay at this lodge. The location is amazing with relaxing views of the mountains and I appreciated just being out of a town and surrounded by nature for a stay. The restaurant food was also fantastic (one of the better steaks I’ve had). If I had one issue with the lodge, it was the lack of a features in the room (AC and a fridge) especially for the price paid.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Beautiful mountain views. We only stayed one night and did not use the restaurant. It was farther from Golden than we realized. We did use the hot tub and it was very clean.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - beautiful area
breakfast was good
lodge was very pleasing
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We liked the view, it is fascinating
they forgot to clean the room once
- Anonymous (8/5): - Beautiful restaurant and decor along with magnificent view
- Verified traveler (10/5): - A great secluded place tucked off the highway.
Excellent access to Glacier Park for holidays or just passing through.
Facilities and views are fantastic.
Dog friendly.
Just remote with limited WiFi
- Sharon (8/5): - Beautiful view from cabin 1. Great meal & location
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great hotel to stay at. Internet and tv didn’t work well given how remote it is. But overall it was a great stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Grounds were very nice. Lodge was nice as well. Rooms are a little old but clean. Bathroom sink is too shallow.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We really enjoyed our time at heather mountain lodge! We will def be back, its the perfect meeting area for me from kelowna and family from calgary. The evening staff lady waa waa absolutely fantastic, i unfortunatley didnt catch her name. We hope shes there next time we come. The morning staff (whose name i did catch , but i wont publicly post) qas a tad cranky and not bery personable at all. Over all she didnt ruin our stay, and we atill will be back!!!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The property is nice & the beds comfortable. They had a lovely lounge & restaurant with live music. Front desk staff wasn’t particularly friendly or warm. There were no elevators, which normally wouldn’t be an issue being on the second floor except that we had quite heavy bags. Beautiful views of the mountains.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Food was bland. Servers were really spacey and slow. Kitchen staff weren’t trained how to use the bar facilities so I couldn’t have any beer on tap.
- Anthony (8/5): Nice and quiet - Very nice rooms with a comfortable bed. Onsite restaurant served good food, although the service was quite slow. There's nothing else nearby, so if you're looking for solitude, this place is great for that.
My only complaints are that the rooms don't have air conditioning and the hot tub was not working during our visit (and from reading other reviews, it seems like it hasn't been working for quite some time).
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I was surprised there wasn't a telephone in the room ,although now that many people have a cell phone , but a land line would be helpful sometimes . Other than that everything is fine .
- Moose (8/5): - Beautiful views, rustic mountain lodge feel. Excellent food in restaurant. WiFi was extremely slow. Satelite TV reception was poor and only 5 channels in our room.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Peaceful and relaxing, great views with clean mountain air.
- Verified traveler (4/5): What, 3.5 star and no AC? - No AC, which is not so great during 90 degree plus days. They do have have a ice vending machine, but it's supposedly broken ;). Also the door knob is removed, (odd maybe). They were nice to offer ice up at the main office but you have to make multiple trips. We also were on the top floor so the hottest for sure. Staff was nice, food expensive compared to other 2/4 star hotels that are better kept. Nice view, loud noise outside if you open your window. Possible generator, but not sure. Parking/entry needs to be upgraded to be considered a 3.5 star hotel in my books.
thank you.
- Ian (8/5): - Very good hotel. The address is a little tricky when you use your GPS ti allocate it.
- Mihai (10/5): Unique place - We just spent a night at Heathers but will definetly return for a longer visit. We already recommended it to a few of our friends. Lovely scenery, accommodation and great staff on the premises. Sauna and hot tub were a great touch for the evening.
- Walter (8/5): Good stop for the night - Good place to stay for the night to break up a long drive or if you're planning some hikes nearby. Nice, clean, modern feeling rooms. There's not a lot going on in the grounds themselves beside the lodge (which is nice), so good if arriving in the evening for dinner and have activities or more driving for the next day. A pleasant oasis in an otherwise empty Rogers Pass drive between Golden and Revelstoke with the closures of some other stops.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful mountain retreat. Only disappointment was the restaurant didn’t open until 8:00 am so we had to leave without breakfast.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Only place available near Lake Louise in August. 50 Km west of Golden. Internet slow (they did warn of that), poor housekeeping service, petty about amenities like a cup of coffee to go.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Super clean and cozy! Great place to stop overnight after a long drive
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very unique setting in the mountains. PIcturesque. Dining was nice. Friendly staff. A great overnight stay.
- Manpreet (8/5): Might not book again - Wifi is just a illusion to get your money. Not enough cell service in area. Basically you are disconnected from world. You are forced to eat at triple the price of food just because nearby restaurants are about 40 minutes away. No A/C. But staff is awesome. Rooms were 9/10.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Nice setting but great views are hard to appreciate with no decks. Food was very good but waiter knew very little about his wines. Price is very fair.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Cosy place in the mountain. Quiet and beautiful. We enjoyed our short stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent place to stay!! Beautiful surroundings and very clean
- Warren (8/5): Great Out of the way Spot - Excellent spot to stop for the night, as long as you don’t require other services. It is 55 klm’s from nearest service of any kind. Clean comfortable quite and friendly helpful staff.
- Moe (8/5): - Beautiful spot in the mountains. Games room. Large outdoor fire pit with amazing view.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The views were excellent, very well built lodge with great scenery
- Ronald (10/5): - Staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. Absolutely beautiful area. Breathtaking scenery. Food was very good and the cabin was awesome. When making your reservations, please call the place to verify that you booked a cabin or a hotel room. The cabins are awesome. The hotel rooms are clean and they too have an extraordinary mountain view, as well.
- Alexis (8/5): Remote and Peaceful - Beautiful location. Extremely isolated make sure you want to be alone. Their dining options were very limited and not worth the price. $20 breakfast buffet was very basic and not worth it.
- Darren (10/5): - Beautiful spot. Nice and quaint. Loved the construction of the buildings.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Beautiful property and location! Easy to find off the highway and great to be out of the city.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Amazing views, great service and clean place - We stayed here on our way to BANF. The rooms are clean and views were amazing. It does not have microwave or refrigerator, but we didn’t need one. Manager/owner allowed us to heat our food in their microwave in the upper kitchen area. Staff was very helpful. TV has very limited (5 or 6) analog channels (no HD) but internet connection is pretty good and fast considering the location. Restaurant was also good. It has one pool table and lot of board games to play. Very good alternative to regular hotel chains. Overall had a great experience and would like to stay here again.
- Elizabeth (6/5): Nice hotel, but isolated - Close to Highway there for noisy. Many miles from anywhere, so no choice for dinner.
- Sheila (10/5): - You feel like you're in the wilderness of the mountains.
- Paolo (10/5): - Beautiful Lodge, nice rooms and very helpful staff. Dinner was outstanding, would recommend going just for the food but the location is also amazing.
- Gareth (10/5): Romantic retreat - Awesome place to stay, despite the absence of view caused by the snowfall!
The cabin was simply perfect, warm, well equipped and romantic, and the food in the (quiet) restaurant was wonderful!
Highly recommended!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Clean and Comfortable - The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. It was just what we needed after a day of driving. :)
- Amber (4/5): - I really liked the lodge at first , however you’re screwed if you stay out there and it snows . They don’t have a snow plow to plow their parking lot . I got stuck there the whole day waiting to see if a tow truck driver could assist me when I had a flight to catch in the morning . You would think a lodge in the mountains would be prepared for this type of weather . It’s not good when your customers get trapped at your hotel and there is nothing you can do to help . This made the last day of my trip a nightmare . Having to change my flight and get a towing . Bad experience.
- Judi (8/5): - A great place to stay near Glacier national park. Poor wifi and very expensive breakfast, but tasty dinners. Room needs a second chair. Very friendly reception.
- Arlene (10/5): - Pretty location...right off the trans Canada. Nice restaurant at location.
- Chad (8/5): - Great place to break up a long drive. Very friendly staff. Would definitely stay again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Everything was excellent. it was a very short stay, will be back another time.
- Bryan (10/5): - A beautiful property, with helpful, friendly staff and beautifully appointed rooms. Considering its location, it exceeded all of our expectations and was well worth the visit.
However, approaching this property at night from Golden, it was quite difficult to find the entrance from Hwy.1. It could be better sign-posted when approaching from Golden.
- JAD (8/5): - We found the beds a little soft for our liking, otherwise the rooms were great. There is a restaurant in the lodge. The food is excellent, but meals are pricey due to fine dining type menu. There are no other restaurants or gas nearby, so make sure you gas up and get your fast food in Golden (travelling west) or Revelstoke (travelling east) if you are on a food budget.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very comfortable property in a beautiful setting.
- Victoria (2/5): Forgotten item - I left my 200 dollar toothbrush there and I realized a few hours after check out. I called the hotel and arranged it with a lady to have it mailed to me in Edmonton and that I'll pay for postage fees. It's been a month now and I haven't received anything. I also haven't gotten any credit card charge. I've been trying to call the hotel at all times of the day but no answer. Mail box full as well. I'm so confused!!
- Christina (10/5): - Loved it! Right off the highway but so quiet. Very comfortable beds and a lovely view from all the rooms. I will definitely be going back.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It is a quite and beautiful place to stay. But it is 40 minutes away north from Golden center.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The staff was very friendly. I left an article behind and they helped me retrieve it.
- Kristen (10/5): - Amazing views. Just beautiful! More than expected
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The experience by far out weighed the price we paid to stay. Totally charming.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We arrived late and reception was closed. But we could our name and room cards everything perfectly.
We got late for breakfast but the manager offered free sandwich. People were so kind. Great and clean place too.
- Linda (8/5): - Nice place, comfy beds, pleasent views, very clean with great staff. Breakfast is expensive as $20.00 for buffet breakfast is the only choice. Coffee machine in room was so fancy we couldnt figure out how to make a cup however was told complimentary coffee available in lodge in the morning. Was charged $3.00 for a cup of the compkementary coffee. Plug in bathtub doesnt hold water and jacuzzi was not in operation. I would definately stay again but take my own coffee pot. Dinner was excellent with great service.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great place.. beautiful scenery.. I would highly recommend.
- Nancy (10/5): - Happened upon this place on a long road trip. Delightful, and considering that we were about to enter Glacier/Banff region, not really that expensive. Clean, comfortable, quiet.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The location is not in the downtow golden. My kids found daddy long legs and spirders in the room.
- Rob (10/5): - Beautiful location, friendly staff, comfortable beds, clean room, nice bathroom. Overall, great experience!
- Nickolas (6/5): - Was ok. Nothing special. Room was not cleaned properly. No phone in room to contact desk.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The hotel is lovely, nice setting, it would be a great place to come as a couple to relax for a few days.
Very clean and quiet.
Please develop a method to check out before 7am, like a key drop box or something.
- Dennis (6/5): - The hotel is located about 50 km south of Golden BC and was chosen partially to allow us to rest during our drive to the Central Okanagan. Access to the hotel was just off Hwy 1 however the entrance road had been badly roughed up by a road paving crew that was active in the area over night. Our SUV bottomed out on the road in. Once we got past the entrance the road greatly improved and the hotel compound appearance was rustic and inviting. There was plenty of paved parking close to the main office/restaurant and guest room buildings. My reception at the front desk was cordial and in less than two minutes I had my room cards and was all checked in. We found room to be large with a king size bed and large sofa bed and plenty of floor space. Amenities included bottled water and an expresso machine, steam iron and ironing board. However no refrigerator. The bathroom was large, clean and bright with quality toiletry items. Internet access required no password and connected immediately however access to services over the link was painfully latent/slow. A small flat screen TV was mounted on top of book shelf in the corner of the room but had a very grainy display and only offered a few channels. I know, I know you don't vacation to watch TV - what can I say. Unfortunately our sleep in the room was interrupted by floor noise from the room above us and a constant hum from highway paving activity which just happened to be in the area all night the day we were there. :(
- Sky (10/5): - Absolutely adorable place
- Tianna (10/5): - Great experience. We will come back. Nice hotel and nice staff, we have good sleep
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I liked being in the mountains even though the smoke blocked the view. Very nice facility.
I was looking forward to a nice soak in the tub but the plug did not hold the water so that was disappointing.
Also, we arrived late due to accident and road closure. We drove past the entrance because the sign indicating where to drive was not lit up. Road construction meant one lane travel so we had to go all the way down the road until we could travel the one lane back up. Very inconvenient!
