Guest Reviews
- Gregory Jay (2/5): - There were dogs and a cat that ran the halls all night barking and fighting. The outside doors were broke so the sea port and noise was unstoppable. The booking included free breakfast but the kitchen was closed. The owner and his family partied upsairs above us all night. Then they asked for more money saying I had a guest and they needed 1000 extra per night. . I showed them the booking. I booked for 2 people and breakfast was included. The tv didnt work. The airconditioner didnt work. The owner is greedy. The place is a dump
- Ortiz (5/5): great location but needs work - the dogs!!, proximity to everything roaches, and the fact we didn’t get the room we literally paid for (just one night)
- Darren (7/5): Good -
- Ross (2/5): - Overpriced, Property owners dogs barking and pooing and weeing outside my room no safe,no fridge,no hot water, dirty room,no kettle, dripping water on toilet seat. Overall an absolute disgrace
- Angeline (5/5): It was not comfortable at all. - The place was filthy, when we came there’s still a garbage, dusty and unclean washroom. No wifi, TV is not working, lot of mosquitoes and dirty washroom dusty room.
- Cameron (2/5): - I have done a fair bit of traveling and stayed at many hotels, inns, and hostels over the years…and I can confidently say this may have been the worst stay of them all.
The location is fine; it’s close to many shops and restaurants. And it’s across a small street from the beach. Those are the only positives I can mention.
I would like to first mention that I am very affectionate towards animals and I love dogs. HOWEVER, a hotel is not the place for a dog to live. I’m not talking about a guest traveling with their dog. I’m referring to the 3 little dogs (they appeared to be Yorkies) that were residing in the common areas of the hotel, to include areas right outside the guest rooms. Again, I love dogs, but these little maniacs would bark at any and all hours of the day and night, often with zero intervention from anyone. I complained about the noise on multiple occasions to the “staff” and on the one occasion they did anything about it, they stuffed the dogs into a guest room (seemingly used as a storage room) that was right next to mine! I like to read the fine print of property listings and I did not see any mention of dogs residing in the hotel, which is an unacceptable oversight (but likely an intentional one by the hotel ownership). These dogs barked constantly and were a severe disturbance day and night. If I had known these dogs were present I would never have booked here. The rooms are NOT sound proofed at all, and the beds have cheap foam mattresses (NOT memory foam).
- Stella (7/5): Good - The location was great There wasn’t power set up, the bathroom wasn’t very good with only one temperature of water, and the hair dryer didn’t work. It would’ve been nice if there was more bedding blankets available too
- Amin (5/5): We had no choice as this was the only room in town we could find. - Staff were lovely and friendly It’s expensive for what it is our room wasn’t clean i wouldn’t recommend this hotel to a family.
- Fritz (10/5): Exceptional -
- Victor (1/5): Bad - Wala Everything is bad here. We wake up because of the dog noise. When we went out there’s always a poop and pee of the dog in front of the door . We need to tell to the girl before she clean.
We’re didn’t get relax, everyday there’s people fixing rooms there’s a time we wake up because there’s no have electricity.
- Benson (8/5): Very good - its near to the beach theres no elevator
- Sutherland (5/5): Passable -
- Dan (7/5): It was simple but good. - It’s very close to the bars and restaurants. Also a couple steps away from the beach! My door couldn’t lock from the outside so needed to push the lock in from the inside.
- Daniel (7/5): Good -
- Cedric (10/5): Relaxing, Exhilarating and breathtaking - It was perfect. Right onto the beach. Could enjoy beautiful sunsets none
- Eriko (1/5): Bad - No water. No reception staff. Room was not clean and had left over soap and rubber band from previous guest. Shampoo and conditioner dispenser were empty. No water the whole stay.
- Lanny (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lanny (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nigel (1/5): The location is all that’s going for this property. - Location My sink was leaking in the bathroom. My contact lens case went missing which then I had to throw my lenses away. As the optometrist was closed on the weekend.
They then claimed I lost a safe key . Which I did not receive. Then the 3 dogs that live there kept barking which made it hard to fall asleep.
- Serena (7/5): Good - The property is good for what you pay for. Bed was comfy, clean room, yes the floors were a bit dirty but nothing crazy. It's good for what you pay for. The dogs were barking at night, but honestly I slept fine also if you have earplugs would probs be fine
- De (6/5): Pleasant -
- Alice (8/5): Great location, comfortable stay. - Location was amazing, so close to shops and restaurants. The room was nice and beds were comfortable. The floor was a bit dirty and there was no blanket, only a sheet.
- Zoom (4/5): Disappointing - just the location No ventilation, door lock were confusing and the toilet jammed.
- Soto (8/5): Very good -
- Burgo (5/5): Definitely a place to remember. - The room was spacious and comfortable.. The location was great. You get what you pay for. Its worth paying the extra and staying somewhere else. This hotel has the potential, however, the dogs… You know you have guests staying in the hotel sleeping , but the dogs are out in the hallway barking non stop throughout the night, kept me awake till 3am. Rooms are not soundproof so you can hear everything, i could hear guests going in and out, complaining downstairs about the dogs. The room was clean but the FLOOR felt dirty. Wifi kept disconnecting, weak signal in the area. No staff to be seen when needed, when it came to checking out I just had to leave the key on the desk.
- Anthony (10/5): Exceptional -
- Collyer (2/5): Very poor -
- Tatiana (1/5): Place to remember - NEVER AGAIN - We appreciated the location, near the port, in front the accomodation there is a shop and tourist agency where you can book your trip wherever you want First- we came -there where nobody to check in. After half An hour we met a receptionist -then has started the chaos. They werent absolutely prepared for our incoming. We paid lots of money for 2 rooms for 4 people for 2 nights-booked and paid also for ocean view -that was just our dream. They gave us rooms without ocean view, dirty, without towels, sheets -like few minutes ago somebody has already checked out. Then we met our 3 czech friends-booked and paid 2 rooms also -get just 1room !!!-staff after 1hour were trying to ,,figure it out” their situation(just 1 room for them available) to get 1 extra bed to that room which was given to them -but the door where too small to get 1 extra bed to the room-so staff gave them 1 extra mattress to sleep for the third person in that small room. But they paid for 2 rooms and staff told them they dont have any other room free-fully booked! This accomodation seems like earn money for more rooms they can really could offer! There was another surprise . Weve been waiting to the evening for the information -your rooms for tomorrow -second night -wouldnt be available! -told us first rooms would be available….so we waiting till 10pm to that information…Wanted to call to manager and speak to her. She was arrogant person, started raising her voice and dídnt give me any chance to say a word. I know we made a mistake- we came 1 day later-because our transfer to El Nido went wrong during the journey,so we were forced to stay on our way that night sleep in the phillipines family and wait for the transfer next day-thats the reason why we didnt came first night-which we have booked. Anyway we just expected that manager will give me chance to explain it and agree on some solution. I was surprised - from her side didnt come any solution, just scream and blaming-no just a small amount of money back ..nothing..
- Antonia (5/5): Ok stay for the money and good location. - Excellent location with plenty of things to do around it. Some staff were very helpful There were dogs living at the property that bark early in the morning and poo was in the hotel hallway, the water was cold and brown
- Jacob (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (4/5): Disappointing - Booked an ocean view room and given a standard room. Paid an extra 1920 pesos and they said they'd give me a discount since my room wasn't available. When I tried to collect the difference they told me to take it up with booking.com since they hadn't been paid yet.
- Omer (4/5): Disappointing -
- Alin (10/5): Amazing - The view is splendid , the staff were very attentive and polite . We will definitely be back next year !
- Nixie (10/5): Definitely a place to remember - The location was perfect and the staff were delightful! Would definitely recommend!
- Fillarca (5/5): Passable - The staff are very good they are very accommodating... The room is good... There is mosquitoes inside the room
- Ystiephannielle (10/5): Exceptional -
- April (10/5): Exceptional -
- Benoit (8/5): Very good -
- Brian (8/5): Very good -
- Chriselyn (8/5): Very good -
- Chriselyn (8/5): all in all, it was good - the location of the hotel is very near from the port the water in the faucet is not clean
- Mark (8/5): Very good - Good Water has smell
- Kenneth (9/5): Superb -
- Heesang (9/5): Good location, amazing staff, great price - good airconditioning and amazing staff wifi kept connecting and disconnecting
- Kiri (3/5): Great location, adorable doggies - We loved the location as it was near the main strip and close to all the doggies on the beach so we could feed and look after them. Also great ocean view. The hotel has three GORG pooches that live there and you see daily on the stairs. Cleanliness and comfort. There were so many ants and cockroaches in the bathroom, no toilet roll, no fresh towels daily and the shower barely sprinkled water so we felt un clean the entire time. The mattress was foam and felt uncomfortable. Over priced for what it was. The dogs that live in the hotel poo inside so you would often see it on the floor near our door. We were ok with this being such huge dog lovers but can imagine some guests would not be ok with this.
- Astrid (8/5): Very cute little hotel in a good location away from the most noisy streets. Amazing staff. -
- Matthew (8/5): Very good -
- Ondrej (7/5): Good - Location 20 meters from meeting points for island hopping. Low wifi connection. Be aware that hotel has 3 small dogs which bark time to time even during the night.
Breakfast only 2 toast with bacon and egg and piece of melon (every day the same). Any juice or other fruit.
Room could be a cleaner..we had a dirty floor.
- Mullhouse (1/5): Never again - close walk to beach - some goods bars around the place Super basic which is fine but the over feel of the property was not great, everything was old and run down. I even opted out of taking a shower there and went to a friend's place.
I booked the family room which was tiny they squeezed two double beds and a single bed into a very small space.
the very loud sound of the air conditioning unit faded out the outside noise and barking dogs.
This was not value for money at all!
Wifi did not work at all. which meant I missed my pick up
- Tiffany (8/5): perfect location, would stay again - the dogs and the location and the staff very nice. I would stay again there is unfortunately some ants and bugs and I think some of the bathrooms need renovation
- Eva (5/5): Better options available - Good location near to where the boat hopping tours leave from. Not a bad price for the room without the negatives. Their dogs were left to sleep in the hall outside our room and every night we were there they started barking during the night and didn’t stop so out of our 4 nights we didn’t sleep through once. There was also dog poo and pee in the hall at the stairs in the morning one of the days which isn’t what you want going for breakfast. Breakfast was the same each day with no choice which on the 4th morning was very boring. No towels just weird blankets that were supposed to be towels.
- Yavuz (7/5): it was great location, clean room but very noisy at night - close to the sea, big rooms. dogs barking all night inside of the hotel. very noisy street.
- Alain (10/5): perfect - staff so friendly
- Kevin (6/5): The dog poop certainly made it “A Place to Remember” - The location was wonderful and the staff was very polite. Nobody was at check in when I arrived so I had to search for a staffer in the halls of the hotel. There was also dog poop in the halls of the hotel.
- Carla (8/5): Very good - Amazing location! Our air-con didn’t work and the staff were very accommodating and moved us to a better room.
- Marc (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alfredo (2/5): bad experience. not recommended - nothing its very dirty.
- Chris (5/5): great location, but shame about cleaning not too good - location good cleaning could be better
- Christopher (8/5): Wonderful hidden gem made the trip so special, the view during breakfast was worth any problems experienced. - Wonderful location only 10m from the beach. Very delicious breakfast, and wonder staff. The view while eating breakfast was my favorite part. The dogs made me very happy too. The aircon was very poor and took a long time to cook the room. The hot water heater was broken off the wall. The room safe didn’t work. And no elevator on site. And no wifi during our stay due to an issue, made it very difficult to complete my business while on vacation.
- Celeste (1/5): A place to forget - The friendly staff and the location were the only good thing about this hotel. On arrival at the hotel there was dog poop in front of our door(promising), we entered the room, the mirrors were dirty, there was a smell coming from the bathroon and the bedroom in general did not look clean. The bedsheets full of stains and fluff. On 2 nights we were woken up by partying and singing at 2am in the morning organized by the hotel on the top floor. They only clean the rooms on request. There are no choices for breakfast other than Filipino breakfast. Milk or juice never offered you need to ask for it. For the price, this is an overpriced hotel, that overall looks dirty and smelly.
- Martin (10/5): Recommended and will stay again - The hotel is one row back from the beach but overlooks the beach and bay on upper floors with stunning views. Staff brilliant. Doctor on site who is very accomodating breakfast is egg, sausage bread or rice, butter jam banana. Coffee or ice water. The breakfast bar is on the 5th floor with stairs only, but the view is worth it. Parts of the room needs updating and repairing, but was functional.
- Aila (7/5): Good -
- Consuelo (2/5): What a mess... - I will not recommend A Place to Remember, El Nido to anyone because of our experience. The room for 4 has no space for you to move around the room. The bed was clean and comfy, but the tv was not working and the staff made it work for us, the electrical sucket in the Wall was falling apart, the bathroom has no rug and slippery, the sink was dripping water, we have to shut it off every time we use, the shower is not working right, the towel holder was falling off, no soap or shampoo or body wash in the containers and there’s cockroaches... I think we paid a lot so I expect more...will never come back there! We paid for the room P27,190.53 for 3 nights/P4,979.51 x 3 nights =P14,938.58 but the taxes and fees cost me P12,182.40. We asked the owner about the taxes and fees and he said he doesn’t know, that taxes and fees doesn’t go to them, they said ask hotels.com about that, I’m so confused on who to asked. Can you help please? We also used hotels.com for our Coron trip and I did not pay much for taxes and fees and our hotel room was 3x better.
- Walter (8/5): Good place for a few nights - Really good breakfast, very helpful with scheduling tours, bed was very comfortable. The wifi did not work in the room, free water to refill, refrigerator was helpful in the room, had to ask for hangers for clothes, needed a better set up for drying wet clothes from the beach. The bathroom floor mat did not get replaced with clean mat. Could use some type of wall decoration to make the room feel hospitable. AC worked well.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Perfectly located near the marina and away from the business noise.
- Verified traveler (2/5): A place to remember, but not for the right reasons - The room smelled of mold. The air conditioning, while functioning, was load to the point of disturbing sleep. There was no wifi on any of the floors.
The view from the terrace is great though, and the breakfast was ok.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I am trying to get my money back for 3 days
- Julius (10/5): - El Nido is a very isolated location and resources are scarce. These guys made you feel like you were visiting family from a far. There is everything you need within feet of the property. Have now illusion dreams of Hawaii here. It is a “Hole,” but a very nice treasure of a Hole. Love the Dive shop next door.... lots of activities to engage in.
- Rose (2/5): Needed a lot changes to keep your business... - I hate to write review and complain however our experience to this hotel was very bad. The whole stay, the tour, the private Van. The hotel bathroom was dirty, the water smell was very bad, we had to buy a gallons of water for shower and tooth brush. We ask for private tour it wasn’t organized they didn’t explain us which is the first place to go according to the weather. Aside from that they brought us to where short cut, very scary wave. It was really scary, I noticed there was no boat who pass there it was just us and just told us it’s normal. I never seen normal like that. We all got Nervous. I guess they were trying to cheap the Gasoline since we pay it by private tour. We spent 20,000 on that tour we didn’t see 4 places coz they were trying to skip it I think they just want to go home early. I’m glad I insisted coz could have not seen a beautiful lagoon...The captain and tour guide was not nice except our chef who cook good food. Here comes to our private van on our way to the airport there was 2 passengers on the front when we clearly said that it’s private. I guess the owner wants to get cheap again. We paid 10,000 for private van only to find out they were tying to make money and put some passengers in there. The only good side is the breakfast place on top other than that everything was horrible experience. Don’t be confident because of a good location. You need a lot changes to keep the business. There is a lot of competitors.
- SAMIA (2/5): To be avoided - We hated our stay at APTR for many reasons:
- rooms: small, smelly and no windows!
- water: the water even we knew it was not for drinking, we were not expecting to take showers with dirty ( yellow) and smelly water ( very bad toilet smell)
- breakfast: very basic and no refill is done. Better to go somewhere else for breakfast.
The hotel has done a lot of overbooking resulting in some people without any room and there unhappy.
I will never recommend this place.
- gintrash (2/5): An absolute disappointment. - I highly recommend that you look for somewhere else to stay.
This hotel is one of the most unprofessionally managed places I have seen.
First, we were given their choice penthouse suite. An absolute dump of a room. Not to mention the fact that the hotel handy man's sleeping quarters are only accessible from the penthouse balcony. When we were taken through the restaurant to our room, my family, and I were horrified to see the managers husband sitting at one of the tables in his underwear watching television while eating his dinner!
My family was so disgusted by the place that we immediately checked out of the place and drove 4 hours to Puerto Princesa.
- Sharr (6/5): One of the better ones - Like all hotels at El Nino it was small and overpriced. However it was clean and new. Breakfast was much better than expected and it was close to the beach with great views from the roof.
- Verified traveler (4/5): No. Just no. - I would not recommend a stay at this hotel. I booked the penthouse for the advertised view and what wasn't mentioned is that the view (besides not being private) is obscured by a very, very dirty piece of plastic. When I arrived and many times throughout my stay, hotel staff was not visible/available. They don't monitor the front desk-even during business hours. When my itinerary changed and I needed to extend by a day, I chatted with the receptionist and she said that she'd check with the manager and let me know. Two days later...still no response. I asked twice more after that and without any information I just decided to move to another spot which was MUCH cleaner and definitely a better deal.
I must also say that the "hot" water including water pressure was nearly nonexistent. I never ate breakfast but that's because it didn't look appetizing. I recommend looking elsewhere.
- rhea (2/5): Don't stay this hotel horrible - Well it was ok, but our suite was not a suite,it was a standard room with a view. We come from Las Vegas, and we know what is a suite., The air con went out the 2nd day, and most of the day was a brown out. So, that did not help either. The ceiling also leaked when it rained. No wifi, even though it was advertised.dont stay in this place to forget
- Verified traveler (2/5): A place to forget - (No Booking Mam) - I couldn't leVe the review I wanted as there was so many bad points 1500 characters was not enough, so to summarise.
1. Denied they had our booking even though paid in full
2. Offered inferior cheaper room with no window looking out under stairs and dirty mattresses.
3. Sent us to the hotel next door for 1 night and to come back tomorrow.
4. Found our room unlocked after coming back one night
5. Moved all our belongings to fit 2 additional unwanted beds, get the room ready after we checkout please!
6. In moving belongings mixed up dirty laundry, with clean clothes
7. Breakfast was awful
8. Family members seemed to take over breakfast room and at night kept us awake til 1am
9. Definitely not worth the high price we paid
Don't stay here unless you want them handling your dirty underwear! And leaving room unlocked.
- Chelsea (8/5): Decent room and great breakfast. - The room was fine ... a bit small but clean and the breakfast was delicious and different every morning which was awesome. Ask for the rooms that aren't on the ground floor because those are better and more quiet.
- Verified traveler (2/5): A place to forget - sadly booked 3 nights - everyday something went wrong so moved rooms every night first noisy first floor then no hot water till the last night just moved to the hotel next door Aqua since there was no electricty at all.
Wifi doesn't work anywhere.
only hotel that seems to not have a generator working when there are electricty black outs.(that happen a lot)
Aqua next door was much nicer for the same price but don't expect anything fancy from both.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Not recommended - in good area but to noisy on first floor
No hot water second floor
No generator when black outs
(When all the hotels have one)
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good value for location and standard accomodation. - We had the family room on the 4th floor. Great view and very quiet, very relaxing. The room had all the basics you need with good air condition. Wifi was very slow and only worked on the 3rd floor as everyone said but it wasn't a problem for us (we were there to relax and be on vacation) Awesome location if you are visiting El Nido for Island Hopping Tours. Everything you need; restaurants, groceries, shops and money exchange within short walking distance. Breakfast was basic and good. Staff were helpful and welcoming. We didn't have any problems and we were satisfied with our stay there.
- Sandra (4/5): Overprice - The location is good, but for that price i expected something much better. People is very nice.
I don´t recommend this hotel.
