- Ivan (10/5): Everything was excellent — the location, the cleanliness was at a very high level, the staff was great.. - Everything was excellent — highly recommended!
- Patrick (10/5): Everything was perfect about our holiday....including the weather 🌤 - Breakfast was excellent. Staff very friendly and helpful. Facilities great.
Allasalue ahdas.

- ringworm3 (10/5): Has to be one of the best Hotels in Palma Nova - A return visit to This amazing Hotel. Wow, if you want a hotel that ticks all the boxes then this is the one. We have just returned and feel extremely spoiled with the hotel hospitality for the last week.
Its Clean and Bright the staff are always happy and can't do enough for you. The room was as fresh as the day it opened the room maid cleaned every day and replaced towels and anything else that was required. Every room in the hotel has a beach view, some of the room to the south side of the hotel have more of a side view to the sea but then they have more of the sun for longer in the day. We have stayed in the past Breakfast only but this time we did Half Board, Breakfast is amazing there is actually too much to choose from including English and continental. The coffee machines give an excellent quality of coffee. The evening meal is a wide selection of every thing from Curry to Cottage Pie to Fresh fish. Most nights there was a Special of freshly cooked meat to order including Steak, lamb and Spare ribs. Salad and fruits were plentiful and the Cakes were not just those cakes you see on holiday that look amazing then don't taste of anything, they were the opposite, full of flavour and once again too many to choose from. Drinks at the table are at an extra cost bust extremely reasonable and you can use your room pass to build a tab that you can pay at the end of the week, yu can use this card in all the bar areas . The outside pool bar and main bar will also take your tap and go Debt card. The evening entertainment is outstanding with a different act every night, usually a Singer or tribute of excellent quality. Shows start and 9:30 and go on till late. There are plenty of seats and room through out the day including around the pool, the pool is fairly small but immaculately clean and safe for all even including a chair seat for those that are less able so that they can be lowered into the pool. The reception staff are amazing and nothing is too much trouble. If you are staying via a holiday company then their reps will be there most days to give advise and help you with just about everything. The hotel is adult only, not that we mind children as we have 5 grandchildren from 2 children of our own, by the way we are both 59 and 60 years old but young at heart, also I suffer disabilities with walking having suffered some limb loss some years back, there is nothing in the hotel that is not accessible.
Well here is looking forward to returning as soon as the pennies will allow, its not the cheapest of hotels in the area but everything is top value for money and if you slightly out of season as we did its actually a bargain. A huge thank you to all the staff at the hotel :)

- GrobboEngland (8/5): Fantastic hotel just spoiled by radio round pool - This is a lovely hotel. Well positioned on the beachfront. The rooms are on the smaller side and you do need a routine when getting ready as not much room near the wardrobes and the bed. However they are spotlessly clean and the large walk in shower is a massive plus.
The staff are all so friendly and nothing is any trouble.
We are here at start of season and even now people queue for sunbeds when it opens at 9.30. Must be manic at height of season.
Food in restaurant is pretty typical for buffets but very geared to English market.
Omelette station is good but very limited choice of ingredients to put in it. Only cheese, ham or some weird mushroom puree.
The only down side in my opinion is the English radio station blaring out around the pool !!! Why. I have come on holiday to Spain I don’t need to know A40 is closed or listen to numerous adverts and especially don’t want to listen to news headlines. Why can’t they play just nice music ( preferably a little quieter). I appreciate most if not all clientele are English but we are in Spain and would prefer no English radio
Overall fantastic hotel and I would return.

- X1609SHkaylas (10/5): Amazing hotel - My boyfriend and I visited this hotel this month and truly had an amazing time. We are in our 20s so quite a bit younger than the typical crowd here, but we did not have a problem with that whatsoever. Many of the reviews stating the typical age group of the hotel are upsetting and we found it very fun and precious to spend time with an older crowd. The breakfast was great. The hotel crew was extremely nice and accommodating - we truly had no complaints. The only thing to note is the pool not being heated, AC only being available for part of the year, and the amazing fact that all of the rooms are sea view!! Beds were huge and so comfortable and the drinks at the bars were INCREDIBLY strong - which we found very fun lol! It is a great place to stay for the older crowd, but the young crowd as well if you don’t mind that! We definitely stood out but had a great time.

- ElephantPaw (6/5): March break - We stayed at this hotel for a week in March, with a transfer time of around 35 minutes from Palma Airport. The location was ideal, right on the beach and surrounded by plenty of bars and restaurants, so there was always somewhere to go nearby. For essentials there's an Aldi about a 5 minute walk away.
The room was very dusty on arrival, possibly due to it being the first week of the season. However, the bigger issue was that the bedroom floor wasn’t mopped at all during our stay, so it was very dirty underfoot. There was a good-sized safe that easily fit a tablet, charged at €22 for the week, a small fridge, and a tea tray with a kettle. A bottle of water and milk were provided on arrival.
Air conditioning was non-existent, with a minimum setting of 21°C making the room uncomfortable at times.
The food was better than expected compared to other similar-sized hotel buffets we’ve experienced. Most breakfast dishes were hot and well-prepared, with freshly cooked omelettes available from the grill. We gave up on having tea as the only source of hot water was the coffee machine, and it often wasn’t hot enough, barely lukewarm on the second day. Evening meals were generally good: the salads were fresh and enjoyable, the meat dishes cooked on the grill were very nice, however the seafood less so - the prawns weren't deveined and the squid still had sinew. Serving times were very limited, only 6.30pm to 8.30pm for dinner so the restaurant was very busy and people had to wait for tables.
The pool area was pleasant, and at this time of year, there was no problem getting a sunbed. However, we were told by repeat guests that it becomes extremely crowded later in the season and sunbeds are impossible to get. The pool was absolutely freezing and therefore unusable.
Drinks prices at the hotel were noticeably higher than elsewhere in the resort. For example, a pint of Heineken was €6.80 in the hotel, compared to €4.50 at a nearby restaurant. Amstel was €5.30, while most local bars charged between €3 and €4 for similar brands. The hotel offers a discount to repeat customers of up to 20% off drinks so I felt the prices were over-inflated to newcomers to subsidise this.
The hotel has two lifts, but one was frequently out of order during our stay. With nine floors, this was quite inconvenient and led to longer waits.
Overall, the hotel has a fantastic location and some positives, particularly the food, but it’s let down by cleanliness issues, lack of air conditioning in early season and very high drinks prices.
- Julie (10/5): Enjoyed the hotel, food was amazing and the staff were very friendly and helpful especially Keith. - Keith the receptionist greeted us on arrival, made us feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Nothing
- Antony (8/5): Great hotel, clean and modern. Good location. - Clean, modern, staff always friendly and very polite.
- hutton (8/5): Superb location must visit Si So the restaurant next door - Fantastic location superbly clean and staff couldn’t have been more helpful or friendly. The only negative during my stay was there was no access to a water fountain.
- Joyholly (8/5): First visit to Son Matias Beach hotel - Great positioned Hotel , fantastic view from every room. We visited last week off the season and the resort was slowly closing down . The rooms are well equipped with everything you need. Lovely pool area ,with a gate straight onto a beautiful beach. The food in the restaurant was really good both for breakfast and evening meal. However prior to our last night were we were asked what our choice would be from a limited menu ( meat or fish ) which I thought was strange .Also the breakfast on departure day was a disappointment 8 of us in a small room with only a small selection of cereal & toast on offer. Would l return ? yes but definitely not the last week off the season .
- Lee (8/5): -
- Dan (9/5): Very enjoyable - Excellent selection of food to appeal to full range of appetites . well laid out and easy to get at . Disappointed with advertising of activities being held . Took part in mini golf and shuffle board and despite the valiant efforts of El va
running events there were few people took part . 2 people at 1 , 4 at other and 8 at other one. Permanent board needed advertising events in reception and loud speaker announcement at start time for each event will save Elva running all over the place trying to encourage people to take part .

- october56 (10/5): Excellent hotel - Spotless hotel very friendly staff. Meals were lovely and entertainment was excellent too. Ideally situated right on the beach. Lots of people were returning guests and i can see why. We are also joining the returning groups we enjoyed it so much we have booked to return next September

- paulcV5453JC (10/5): Great adults only hotel for a relaxing holiday. - Lovely hotel next to the beach. A peaceful location but close to local amenities. Rooms are light and airy with balconies overlooking the sea.
The staff are friendly and helpful.
The food is excellent with a broad choice of dishes.
A good value hotel in which to have a relaxing holiday.
Can’t wait to go again.
- Inspiration20517 (10/5): We know what to expect and never disappointed. - Excellent hotel. Returned many times and a very warm welcome awaits us. We have never been disappointed. Hope to go back many more times.
- carolepriestley (10/5): Our stay - We have stayed in this hotel 4 times now and it was our 3rd time this year. Lovely hotel and very friendly staff. Rooms are lovely and clean and we chose to stay in the junior suite which is beautiful . All rooms are sea view. Food is nice too and plenty to choose from. This hotel is a minuite away from the son mataius beach. We look forward to staying here again next year.
- chrissK4423JZ (10/5): Dreamland - Another great stay at the Son Matius Beach hotel. Adults only no kids allowed. This hotel caters for older couples. Brilliantly located in Palma Nova with a full English Breakfast buffet that includes blackpudding and fried bread, there is entertainment on every night bus stops close by a great pool really nice staff i can’t wait to go back i love the place
- 795avrila (10/5): Great Hotel. - Return visit to this amazing hotel. Staff are excellent. Rooms have everything
you need and are cleaned daily. Amazing sea views from the balcony. Food is
really good with a great selection at breakfast and evening meal. Lots of shops and bars near by. Good bus service to travel around the island .
- An (5/5): speciaal !
- GoPlaces698816 (10/5): Love this hotel - Second visit to this hotel, location is perfect, easy accessible for the beach, restaurants, shops and public transport.
Staff are friendly and always on hand if you need some help!
We just had Bed an Breakfast, the breakfasts were great, choices for every palette!
Only thing we weren't keen on was the room on level 1 overlooking the sea! - on our first visit we were on level 4 overlooking the pool, the views were fab and the balcony's private, the balcony's are larger on level 1 but not very private and the view was restricted by trees, did spoil the experience!
Booked to go back in August 26- will hopefully have a room on a higher level!

- Rusell199 (10/5): Fantastic hotel - Excellent location , beautiful & very clean hotel , staff are all very friendly & helpful. Can’t wait to visit again next year !!
- David (9/5): A great holiday with good food, comfortable accommodation, excellent entertainment & very friendly staff. - Excellent location situated on the beach. All areas were spotlessly clean & the rooms were very comfortable. There was nothing to dislike.
- Debra (10/5): Relaxing and comfortable. Thank you to all the staff - from Reception, to the chefs, the restaurant and bar staff, the h - Proximity to shops, restaurants and the beach. The staff who were always knowledgeable and courteous.
- Alejandra (10/5): Muy Recomendable - Muy buen hotel!
- Sunshine52765554368 (10/5): Relaxing week away - Great location friendly rooms are great staff excellent pool Great already booked for next year with brother-in-law and his wife.
- collyg406 (10/5): Great Experience at Son Matise Hotel - Good location, friendly hotel staff and guests, rooms clean and tidy, loads of storage space, really good shower system, view from balcony exceptional and stunning, noise level low, great service in restaurant, food was delicious buffet style with a wide variety of dishes to choose from to suit all tastes. Outstanding hotel would definitely visit again.
- Odyssey670259 (10/5): Excellent Hotel - Staff are friendly and super efficient. Food is excellent and location is first class. Thank you for making my wife and I very welcome and a special mention to Keith who went above and beyond to ensure our special request was fulfilled. Look forward to our next visit in May next year.
- Nomad36269292392 (10/5): Good holiday - Everything about this hotel was first class, all areas very clean, views from room across the bay just wonderful to wake up to, food varied well presented. All staff from
Mangers to cleaners friendly and helpful. The beach which is very sandy and just ten paces from hotel.
- Tourist39861742164 (10/5): Already booked 2026 Great place to stay smashing beach front location excellent all round team - Absolutely great hotel staff friendly knowledgeable professional brillant team all round location
Great food selection great can’t do enough to help nightly entertainment first class
We’ve already booked for 4 th visit 2026 all rooms spacious with added bonus have sea views
- 257juliee (10/5): Stunning hotel room and view - This hotel is beautifully situated on Palmanova sea front. The hotel is immaculate.
We stayed in a Junior Suite on the top floor (level 9) The room was amazing, the views are second to none. We did have a look at a normal room which was very small.
The rooms are clean and we had robes and slippers, there was fresh milk and water in the fridge when we arrived along with two large beach towels.
The dining room is small considering the size of the hotel and the food offerings were mediocre. This hotel caters to the British for sure, the food reflects this. The hotel is mostly occupied by an older crowd, we were likely the youngest here, this is not a criticism to fact the opposite, everyone was lovely and chatty, in the dining room it was orderly and polite. You do have to queue for sunbeds in the morning, the “gate” opens at 9.30 and there are people queuing from early. We had two days where we couldn’t get a sun lounger, when you read other reviews or look on the Son Matias facebook page it will say there are always sunbeds available, this was not the case during my 5 night stay, i did queue one morning so i was able to obtain one.
Night entertainment seemed good, we didn’t actually stay to watch but did hear what was on in passing.
There is small bar/lounge and restaurant and a pool bar which does serve snacks during the day, there is no indoor pool or other lounges. The hotel staff are outstanding, all appear very happy and so helpful nothing is too much bother. Although advertised no flip flops or shirts/swimwear in dining room this is not adhered to. Small food selection for breakfast and dinner - meat veg and potato every night, there was paella one night.
For the room and view this hotel is 100% worth it, we will return but on a room only basis.

- Paula-StHelens (8/5): Great location, hotel spotlessly clean. - Location is fantastic, central and a few feet from the beach. Hotel is spotlessly clean. Restaurant is small but the food is of a high quality and there is good choice. We stayed half board and had some lovely meals, roast meats, vegetables, potatoes etc. Lovely desserts and great choice.
The daytime entertainment was good, Elva (entertainer) is great and very friendly.
Only negative is that the pool only opens at 9.30am and the queue starts at 8.30am. 9.30am is too late if im honest 9am would be a little better. Sunbeds get full very quick due to the queue, by 9.40am they are all taken. You can go to the beach and there's plenty of beds and parasols but its €22.50 per day so can get expensive.
- Natalie (10/5): - All lovely thanks x
- Sasquatch8682 (10/5): What a great place. - Absolutely lovely hotel, the staff are amazing, always happy to help and very welcoming.
Elva the Entertainer was an absolute delight to be around and really made the holiday experience fun and entertaining. She did games everyday and gave out prizes for the winners, it was always fun and everyone enjoyed it each day, it created a nice community of people that played the games each day.
The evening entertainment was good and the evening meals always had a nice variety.
I would definitely recommend this hotel.
The only thing to note is that the floor from the pool to the Hotel is EXTREMELY slippery this should really have signs up and some matting put down to help with this.
- Mohammed (1/5): So bad -
- Filip (10/5): - beautiful location, clean hotel, wonderful view from the room all was good, the breakfast was great but lacked variety
- AnnesleyRed (10/5): Revisited - Stayed there again and as before it is still a great hotel situated on the beach more or less. Food, cleanliness and staff are all good.
Just a warning for those who like the beach; the people who sell ice cold drinks (illegally) will charge you 10 euros or more per drink.
The trick is usually when asked for two drinks they say 10e and place it there for one of you to have a sip. Then they say it's 10e per drink.
Be careful.
- N6256DEianm (10/5): We have just returned from our 1st visit to this hotel & felt the need to congratulate all involved in making our stay suite.Onl - A wonderful week at this hotel Anazing Staff, food & entertainment and our suite was maintained spotlessly. One minor quibble - please expand your range of non-alcoholic options 1 option (Heineken 0.0%).
The biggest & fastest growing non-alcoholic beer is Guinness 0.0% which is available in draught cans.Or at least a Spanish option - San Miguel is widely available.
We have already booked our next visit such was our enjoyment of our 1st visit.
- irenebR2841RR (10/5): Brilliant hotel Son Matias - Brilliant holiday again at the Son Matias Hotel always lovely staff, great entertainment and great food. Will definitely be back again.
- Q1793LBpaulc (6/5): True review - We stayed for 11 nights b& b only.
True review.
Breakfast excellent. Location excellent. Room cleanliness excellent. Room view outstanding.
Pool area too small, pool coldest I have ever experienced should be warmer due to size and time of year.
Pool area opens at 09.30 and people queuing from 08.00.
Pool bar cooks fries and smells of old oil.
Barmen in pool area could be a bit friendlier.
Reception staff generally helpful specially Kieth.
This hotel should be highlighted that it is for people of a certain age. If you are under 50 go somewhere else as it is at least 90% pensioners.
- K4182XFmiket (10/5): Perfect experience - Had an amazing 4 nights at this hotel . Staff were amazing . Very clean . Perfect location . Couldn't fault the hotel . Will definitely be coming back
- elizabethcK5200NC (10/5): We love the son matias and one of us struggles to walk! - I loved this hotel. The best location and easy access to the beach and right by the pool gate to the beach there is a decking runway the length of it. For anyone with mobility issues you will not beat this hotel. Staff are fantastic and as a half board guest the breakfasts were great and with a huge range of everything available. We shall definitely return. I also got a gift and bottle of cream limoncello as it was my birthday whilst there. If you want a quiet relaxing stay son matias is the one!
- D5375MVstephena (10/5): returning holiday - Just returned from another fantastic holiday at son matias. Check in very smooth and room was ready. Staff are all very friendly and remember you from before. Hotel spotless all over. Food in resterant very good for both breakfast and evening meal always something to choose. Drinks at the bars are resonably priced and served with a smile. The pool didnt open till 9.30am a bit late in our opinion 9am would be a lot better. Entertainment at night was good and varied and the the entertainment rep ELVA was fantastic she tried to get everybody involved and chatted to all the hotel management need to keep her on next year as everybody liked her and not to chop and change every year. All in all the hotel is in a fantastic position right on the beach walking distance to resterants and bars its one of the hotels i would recommend and i dont do that often. We have already booked to return next year as have some of the people we have met there over the years we have been coming. The only negative i can think of is the late opening of the pool maybe the management will look into this and review it.
checkin was
- annesneddon9 (10/5): Fantastic relaxing holiday - Great hotel best beds I’ve slept in, cleaned everyday, hotel reception are amazing can’t do enough for you. The dinning staff & bar Staff are also amazing in fact all the staff can’t do enough for you. The pool area is lovely, There is so much choice at breakfast and dinner. The entertainer is fab as is the entertainment at night. Great location to have stayed there 7 times and will be back next year.

Desayuno Muy orientado a turistas ingleses de 3ra edad
- lesley_stevens (10/5): Best hotel ever - Our 4th visit to this hotel and it's still the best hotel we've ever stayed in. We enjoyed a very relaxing holiday, just what we needed to recharge our batteries.
Beautiful hotel right on the beach. Very friendly staff and very clean and comfortable rooms. Food is always hot and great choices for breakfast and dinner. Entertainment is varied and good. All areas in the hotel are well maintained. Can't wait to return.

- suziew1957 (10/5): Fabulous holiday - We have just returned from a lovely 7 night stay at the Son Matias.
We chose Palma nova as we were there 2 years ago for a family wedding and thought the resort was really nice, and a short flight from home.
We arrived at the hotel after the restaurant had closed, were offered a glass of cava and the option of something to eat.
Our room was lovely,606 overlooking the beach and fabulous views. The room was spotless and kept so clean by housekeeping staff. The rainfall shower was lovely but be careful, the water can be really hot.
We were there with Tui on a half board basis, breakfast was always hot and fresh with plenty of choice and evening meals always had a choice of salads, meat, fish etc. Again we found the food to be hot,and fresh and nice to have roast beef and yorkshire puddings on Sunday. Wednesday was gala night and all guests seemed to dress for the occasion, complimentary glass of cava, and a great guitarist which was a lovely touch.
The hotel is spotlessly clean throughout, and the staff are so friendly,Keith on reception was really helpful and knowledgeable about Majorca, Lissete in the bar always had a smile,Elva the entertainment lady was always doing her best to get every one to join in with the activities.
The other great thing about the hotel is the location, right on the beach which was fabulous and cleaned every day,and very central for walks along the promenade in both directions where there are lots of lovely bars and restaurants.
The local buses are a short walk from the hotel, and you can get the bus to Palma or Santa Ponsa.
Evening entertainment was varied, some better than others, but still a great option if you didn't want to venture out on an evening.
Some reviews have mentioned the sunbed issues and having visited lots of hotels this always seems to be the biggest issue with guests. Personally I think this hotel are trying their best to deal with the issue. Unlike some hotels where you find people putting towels on beds at the crack of dawn, the Son Matias pool area doesn't open until 9.30, probably to stop the early sunbed hoggers. However there is still a massive queue of people forming from 8.30 and to watch everyone running for beds at 9.30 was quite comical. We used to go out every morning for a walk and when we came back around lunchtime we could always find a sunbed.
The hotel clientele is more mature than most hotels, but not an issue at all.
Overall we had a really lovely holiday, and credit to all of the hotel staff who made us feel so welcome.
- Cheltpet (8/5): Good hotel, just a few niggles - Hotel is in a good location, right on the beach and in the middle of shops, restaurants and bars. Adult only hotel, average age was about 55/60 so was relaxed and quiet.
Rooms spacious, with fridge, kettle, walk in shower and nice balcony. Very clean and one bottle of water and milk was provided, any extra we had to purchase.
Food was plentiful and good, restaurant was clean and staff polite and present. This hotel only offers breakfast and evening meal but there is a bar by the pool where you can purchase drinks and snacks, it’s an ok price but you can get cheaper outside in the resort.
The first niggle is that because the pool area doesn’t open until 9.30 people are queuing from 7, which is ridiculous. I went down at 9.30 every morning and just walked to the back of the queue and got one. However, if the hotel was at full capacity there would not be anywhere near enough beds. There is a jacuzzi but I’m not sure how often it is cleaned, the pool and the area around it are very clean but I cannot vouch for the cleanliness of the jacuzzi.
The second niggle is that when you sit near the back wall of the pool area there is a bar next door that plays really loud music, we had no issue with the music but the hotel is also playing their own music so it’s a bit of a racket with both going.
We had a good stay, staff were good, it was relaxing and we would definitely go back. If you go out of the gate from the pool into the promenade and turn left there is an amazing ice cream stand, about two hundred yards in the left hand side, run by a lovely British lady and she sells the most amazing ice cream, I had to visit every day!!
- 461grahaml (10/5): Just Love This Hotel and Staff - Just Love it, Hotel fantastic, location brilliant, Staff, just the best. Stayed for the 3rd time in the last 4 years and already booked for next year. Take my Father who's 84 and his sister that is 89, ticks every box for the 4 of us. Only go bed and breakfast as like to wander and eat out at night just by choice, but highly recommend the buffet breakfast and vast choice.
- Escape17890645433 (8/5): Sunbed issues - Stayed at Son Matias beach August 17-27 2025 - first impressions it’s a lovely clean hotel - we arrived around 10:30pm and was welcomed with fresh salad and drinks - we stayed in room 804 with a great view of the beach and sunrise every morning as it was right in line with our room - the room was quite small but had everything we needed for just myself and my wife , plenty of storage space even for our empty suitcases above the wardrobe- shower was great although if you turned it a little too much to the left it was red hot so bare that in mind, the rooms air conditioning was lovely and cold but you can’t change the temperature - tbh we didn’t need to , there was only plugs on one side of the bed which wasn’t a massive issue as there was plenty plug sockets in other places - also the double bed is actually 2 singles pushed together - rooms cleaned every day and bedding changed along with clean towels - also bare in mind the beach towels they provide are 1 euro when you want them changing for fresh ones which is done via the life guard around the pool area - we went half board and have to say the breakfast was decent along with the evening meal - not a huge variety but each day it’s displayed on the tv screens what is on the menu - the staff at all meal times were very nice and friendly and looked after everyone that dined - hotel staff are also very nice and helpful - just a short walk around the corner from the hotel you have a strip to walk down offering food and drink no matter which way you walk - there are also plenty of spar shops to grab those snacks and drinks to take back to your room - pool snacks are also great if you are having a pool day - there is also a jacuzzi to relax in that takes 4 people at a time - if you fancy a beach day the beds was €22 for 2 beds which also have safe deposit boxes on them to secure your valuables, back at the hotel the pool opens at 9:30 which tbh I think is a bit late as the sun rises around 7:15am in August/sept - the staff opens up a seating area at 8am where guests will go and sit and literally wait until 9:30am for when the pool opens - this causes frustration and a few arguments especially with people who visit the hotel regularly- the hotel staff are aware of this as people complained quite often and they say that the lifeguard removes towels if they are left after 10:30 but the whole time we was there this never happened - it’s basically a first come first serve and we wasn’t down for that - we found the hotel being adults only was more senior citizens only as the average guests was over 60 and 65 - we are early 50s and felt a little out of place - overall the hotel is clean and tidy - the pool isn’t that big but still a nice place to relax - it’s located literally right on the sea front - we just feel the staff could manage the sunbed situation a lot better because locking people in a room for 1.5hrs just creates a problem - and for that reason we won’t be visiting again - lovely place and location it’s just a shame about the sunbed situation

- Granny81 (8/5): Usual Sunbed Wars - It was the first time me and my husband stayed at the Son Matias Beach. It is a very nice hotel but I am not sure we will be returning.
As with most hotels there is a sunbed war every morning and out of our 7 night stay, we only managed to get a sunbed 3 times. We knew the pool area opened at 9.30am so we made sure we were in the queue but unfortunately 9.30am is too late as we were at the back of the queue and by the time we got outside all the sunbeds were gone. On one of the mornings when we did manage to get a sunbed all the other sunbeds on our row had towels on but no one came and sat on them until 11.30/12.00. No one seems to keep a check on whether anyone is occupying the beds with towels on. I think if no one occupies their sunbeds after one hour then the towels should be removed. We saw plenty of people walking round looking for beds and it looked liked they eventually went to the beach. Why should we have to go to the beach when there is a nice pool at the hotel.
We stayed bed and breakfast and the food was very nice and plentiful. The rooms were quite small but adequate. They were cleaned daily and clean towels left if needed.
We did enjoy our stay here but my husband said he's not queuing up every morning for a sunbed.
- hellie2014 (8/5): Lovely, but the pool bed situation lets it down. - Lovely hotel in the middle of Palma-Nova.
The hotel is spotlessly clean and the team ensure it remains that way.
Staff are utterly lovely, really friendly, work hard and can’t do enough for you - we were so impressed with how they remained attentive and friendly despite undertaking multiple roles and working long hours. We didn’t interact with a single staff member who wasn’t polite, friendly and helpful.
The team tried hard to accommodate a couple of above standard requests by us which they didn’t need to do, and were really appreciated - they went above and beyond to say the least. Thank you.
The food is actually lovely and presented beautifully - great array of breakfast items and evening choices, cooked well, warm and tasty. I’m no expert but I couldn’t fault the food at all.
The sunbeds are the nicest and comfiest we’ve ever had in our years of sun holidays.
The standard twin rooms are on the smaller side, but there is loads of storage, they’re tidy and modern, cleaned daily, and every room has a stunning sea view, particularly those on the higher floors. Loved the thoughtful touches like providing a mirror above the desk, a larger fridge and somewhere to sit. Perfect for couples. We also stayed in a suite for one night and it was beautiful - consider an upgrade if you’re able.
The hotel is in a perfect spot in Palma Nova and I’d say is one of the nicer hotels in the area. The hotel is right on the sea front ensuring great views for most guests (we were on floor 8) and Palma Nova is a lovely town, plenty of shops, gift shops and bars / restaurants within easy walking distance - definitely recommend Turtle Bay, The Grill House and SiSo Beach for an afternoon drink - proper chilled and atmospheric.
On a down side I have to call out the pool / pool bed situation.
Even though the sun is up from roughly 7am, the doors to the pool area don’t open until 9.30am, and a literal queue starts forming around 8am with “regulars” some of whom can be extremely loud, rude and entitled - at 9.30am all sunbeds then get immediately reserved and most of the clientele who reserve them promptly leave. On three of the mornings (we were there for 10 nights) the situation turned hostile between some of the guests which was upsetting and really quite stressful to watch, but somehow unsurprising given the situation.
It’s the reason why we won’t return here; missing over an hour of holiday sun, being forced to sit in a queue for a sunbed and then watching the selfishness of so many guests knowing the hotel do almost nothing to manage this even when it’s raised to them, is a level of stress which is the literal opposite of what we want every morning on holiday. To be fair the beach directly opposite is another option, but two beds are €22.50 p/day. Works out expensive if you default there every day instead of the pool. Pool bed wars is the daily topic of conversation around the pool each morning.
I’m not sure I should have to pay for a safe to keep my high value belongings in, in a 5 🌟 hotel.
Not necessarily a down side but something to be aware of, the average age of guests is around 70. The entertainment and vibe of the hotel in general is therefore pitched towards the older generation including the 70’s music around the pool, so whilst it is adults only, it isn’t Magaluf. Some people with be ok with this, some not. We are early 50’s and whilst we didn’t feel out of place as such, I think it could bother some. We found most of the guests quite lovely, but some of the regulars were, let’s say, in clear need of some empathy, respect and kindness.
Overall it is a lovely hotel with many, many positives. But the hotel do need a different strategy for the pool, both in terms of preventing guests from enjoying the sun first thing in the morning, but also to have a plan in place to deal with the selfishness of so many guests who reserve beds unashamedly and have a tendency to create such a commotion in doing so.

- Dreamer40676993793 (10/5): Fabulous choice for a beach holiday! - Just spent 3 nights at this beautiful adult only hotel on the beach of Calviá area Palma Nova. Immaculately clean , friendly helpful staff and gorgeous location close to many beach restaurants/bars and shops. Lovely pool area/pool bar with comfortable loungers (it gets very busy!) , jacuzzi, great music and just a step away from the beach.
Only stayed bed and breakfast but food was varied and tasty.
Evening entertainment was very good too!
Fabulous choice of hotel for a beach holiday. Would definitely return !
- 36daram (10/5): First time staying, fab hotel, fab staff, fab location so needless to say, I'll be back! - I have never stayed in this hotel before, and from the minute I walked in, I was made to feel like I was coming home (thank you Keith!). I was offered a glass of cava on arrival which just added to the "holiday vibes" as I waited for my friend to arrive. I love the fact that you can do a "pre-check-in" online, it just makes it so much easier when you finaly get to the hotel. All the staff from the cleaning staff to the management were friendly, incredibly helpful, and professional. The hotel itself is fantastic, modern and is cleaned continuously, and the seaviews (from every room) were breathtaking. I could go on and on about this hotel, so needless to say, if you're thinking about booking this hotel, don't think, just book. Trust me you'll love it!
- belter101 (10/5): Fantastic break - 5 stars - We’re a couple in our 40s and have just returned from a 5-night stay at Son Matias – we had a fantastic time. The hotel really is faultless. It’s in a brilliant location, with a lovely pool area that’s perfect for relaxing, stunning beaches, an array of bars and restaurants aswell as the magaluf experience (should you choose to partake!).
We stayed half board and were really impressed with the food – always fresh, varied, and offering plenty of choice each day. Highlights included king prawns, steak, and lamb, all cooked beautifully.
The staff deserve a special mention – attentive, friendly, and incredibly hard working. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and they really made our stay extra special.
We would definitely return and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Son Matias to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable holiday.

We visited your hotel in July and enjoyed every minute of our holiday, especially the entertainment it was great we looked forward to morning activities and the entertainment in the evening also the activities before the entertainment. - margarethG3415ID (10/5): A great hotel for adults in a lovely position on the beach. - An excellent hotel , clean, lovely location and all staff were very pleasant and helpful even though they appeared to be doing several roles. The food was excellent with plenty of variety, the breakfast was the normal buffet style that you get in all hotels worldwide and was lovely. Nevertheless, the evening choices were amazing and all the staff including the chefs were so pleasant and helpful, anyone that may have cause for a grumble at all must be a continual traveller grumbler wherever they stay. Take no notice if anyone should be negative at all about this hotel as it is misleading!! I am definitely returning next year with my daughter and grandson. Well done all 👏👏👏
- williamwL2526OA (10/5): Good hotel great location - We spent a week at the Son Matias half board. We really enjoyed our stay the rooms are compact but there is everything thing you need with great sea views . The entertainment is good main show starts 9.30pm and lasts about 1 hour .
