165laiam (10/5): Amazing experience at Sydney Hotel and with our driver Youssef - The Sydney Hotel was an excellent place to stay in the city of Amman. It’s in a fantastic location, perfect for walking to all the main sights in the old town. We stayed in the room with bunk beds, and the cleanliness was impeccable, everything smelled great. The hotel staff were always very helpful, and the breakfast was delicious. For our trips to Petra, Wadi Rum, and the Dead Sea, the hotel put us in contact with a driver who turned out to be the key to our entire journey. Youssef was a friendly driver, always ready to explain interesting facts about the country and take us along the most scenic roads to enjoy the most incredible views. We were a group of 22-year-old girls, and he made us feel very comfortable at all times, almost as if we were traveling with our father. Youssef, thank you so much for showing us Jordan with such kindness. We will definitely stay at the Sydney Hotel again.
BermadetteSMITH (10/5): AMAZING HOTEL AND STAFF AT SYDNEY HOTEL - Going to Jordan was a lifetime dream for my sister and myself, we choose the Sydney Hotel in Amman because of the excellent reviews, and this hotel was fantastic, the hotel rooms were really large and had everything we needed and we had a balcony! The Location was great, as it was only 5 min walk into the centre of Annam, where all the restaurants were, and shops galore. The most impressive thing about this hotel were the staff, they were warm and friendly and spoke really good English, they helped us with great tours at really good prices, and every question or query, they helped us with, they are really exceptional people, who definitely made our holiday in Amman epic. We would love to go back to this hotel just to see the Staff, thank you so much to Rhaphat, Yara, and all of the lovely staff, including our tour driver Youssef.
T2109DHlaural (10/5): Perfect base for Downtown Amman - Excellent hostel with a range of room options (we stayed in a private room with a balcony and on suite). The place is spotlessly clean and is in a fantastic location in Downtown Amman, easy walking distance to the local souks, The Hashemite Plaza (Roman Theatre), and Amman Citadel. A 5min taxi ride (or very hilly 30min walk!) west gets you to the beautiful King Abdullah I Mosque and wonderful Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts. We included breakfast in our reservation, which was a delicious traditional Jordanian affair of bread, hummus, salad, eggs etc which we’d highly recommend for setting you up for the day. This is an ideal base for backpackers and those of us looking for a more local experience than the big chain hotels. The hotel is social, but not loud. A washing machine is available if your stay lands on a laundry day and there’s a lovely outside terrace area. Reception was 24/7 which is very helpful if like us, you’re arriving on one of the late night UK flights. The staff were always friendly and approachable, always available for any questions or help you may need. We already had our itinerary planned, but the team is able to organise a range of tours, day trips and activities for very reasonable prices. We arranged to have our rental car dropped off here on our second to last day so we could day trip over to Iraq al-Amir and As-Salt (both very worth your time). There’s a limited amount of parking directly outside the hostel, but plenty of spots on the street. The hotels website includes a blog post which provides incredibly helpful advice on where to park (if you’d like this in advance). We found it was only during the day that it was busy, with ample spots early in the morning and evening. We really appreciated the donation box to help feed the local street cats (who were all lovely!) and as with everywhere else we visited in Jordan, we felt safe and very well looked after. We’d highly recommend Sydney Hotel as your Amman base.

Karina (10/5): - We’re digital nomads in the tourism sector and went from a 5 star hotel in Amman (as we were working) to booking in to The Sydney hotel. We haven’t stayed in a place like this since backpacker days but the reviews kept saying wonderful so we thought we’d check it out. And it was instant regret! We wished we had of stayed here instead of being on 5 star for our entire trip in Amman. From the warm greetings, helpful suggestions on tours, local eateries to their delicious breakfast. This place wins hands down for those warm family vibes you need when you’re so far across the world. Ngā mihi nui ki a koutou.

The hotel is basic yet clean and tidy, making it a great option for budget-conscious travelers. The staff were incredibly helpful and polite, always willing to assist with any queries or requests. One of the standout features is its fantastic location — conveniently close to various shops, restaurants, and local attractions. Notably, major sites like The Citadel are nearby; however, I’d recommend taking a taxi to get there since it's situated on top of a mountain. Fortunately, taxis are affordable and readily available. Additionally, the hotel offers car hire, day tours, and airport transfer services, which adds great convenience for those looking to explore the city or travel further afield. Overall, if you're looking for a comfortable, no-frills stay in a prime location with excellent service and helpful travel options, Hotel Sydney is a solid choice. One negative the hotel is based on a junction and Jordanian drivers do like to honk there horns
Verified traveler (6/5): - I have booked a single room for my second stay and the check-in service is better than my first stay. There was no towel in my room so I had to inform the reception and the towel was not readily available. I had to leave early for my morning flight and unfortunatley, no other option for me to take the breakfast included in the room as the breakfast is only available from 7 in the morning.
Verified traveler (6/5): - As I was arriving late in the evening and I had an early pick-up for a tour, I decided to book this hostel (shared room) which I think is economical - I basically just stayed for a couple of hours to freshen up after my flight, had an hour or two nap, and left. There was a confusion around the room I booked and so I had to wait a very long time to get things sorted. Someone was already sleeping on my assigned bed, so I had to take another bed.

foreverdreamin (8/5): Does the job - Stayed here twice with a girlfriend First visit separate single rooms, one much plusher than the other, although with a tiny shower but had a fridge Other room was apparently noisy Second visit, twin room facing the front, but had a balcony. It depends on how you book re breakfast, so friend chose to pay or it was included and found it to be more than adequate Left our bags for a fee, to head to Petra and Wadi Rum. Definitely a good idea. Booked a trip to Dead Sea, it wasn’t cheap but nothing is in Jordan and saved a lot of mucking around. Found the guys at the front desk to be warmer on our return. They will gladly engage if you have any questions Have a washing machine, again a fee, bonus. Also booked a car to pick us on arrival….arranged our own cheaper taxi to go back to Airport.
Viviane (6/5): Budget hotel in Amman - This is a one star hotel, so don’t expect luxury. However they are walking distance to the hustle and bustle. Also near the citadel, Roman theater and local market. I’d only recommend they get new towels. The current ones are worn out.

The breakfast is also pretty wonderful. And they have a cute cat. They can also arrange trips for tourists/suggest itineraries. The service in the lobby leaves nothing to be desired.

They’re quite strict with their check in time; strictly 2pm but you can leave you things if you want to go around or wait there. Staff were okay, not very chatty or something but will answer your questions if you got one. Didnt try their breakfast but its a normal Jordanin breakfast with some hummus, salads, and bread. Its 4JOD if not included in your booking. They have complimentary water, coffee, and juice 24/7. Room & toilet inside was clean. Very close to downtown. 10 min walk to most souks and rainbow street. A lot of nearby grocery and small local restaurants. They offer tours too.

Stayed in Amman only because of the people, team at Sydney hotel. They are lovely people and take care of each and every traveler with all their needs. Looking to come again soon. It’s a hotel in the right location of downtown with all the chaos being away. Even yummy breakfast , clean showers and backyard. They are 24x7 so it makes it another good point. Only after finding them through booking and making sure it’s the right place. Lately I found they are really the best for even being the right place. You feel more customised and super happy in the building. The cat is friendly and the swing is perfect spot. Definitely check . You will be happy .
Springbrookian (10/5): Friendly, comfortable room near the Old City - The staff here are very helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble from assisting me with my luggage on arrival and departure to arranging sightseeing and airport transfers, currency exchange and answering all my questions of a first time visitor. The breakfast buffet was delicious and quite unexpected, thankyou Chef. I especially enjoyed the local atmosphere of the common areas and the amenities in my private room.
2MarionA (10/5): An excellent choice for budget travelers! - The Sydney Hotel is located in a historic area convenient walking distance to City Center and the famous Rainbow Street. For budget travelers, this hotel is an excellent choice. It is spotlessly clean, secure, offers both Arab and western breakfast options, has laundry facilities and a shared kitchen. The staff are very welcoming and will go out of their way to help you arrange transportation and tours. You will meet travelers from all over the world here. If I ever return to Amman, this would be high on my list of places to stay.
Karen (10/5): A gold star budget hotel!!! - We loved this hotel/hostel and it came highly recommended! It’s a great place for backpackers and budget travelers. Was traveling with my sister; we stayed here at the beginning and end of our trip for a total of 4 nights. We loved our rooms: they were bright, roomy & immaculately clean with a balcony. We happened to be here at the end of Ramadan and watched from our balcony as everyone walked downtown at night to celebrate Eid al-Fitr. Was so very cool to watch! The beds & bedding were comfortable. The common areas were welcoming and the staff was always friendly and helpful with locations! They will also help you with Jordan trips/drivers! It’s a great location, short walk to downtown and all Amman’s sights, and right below Rainbow Street! Breakfast was superb and different every morning! The painted wall murals (a local artist, we learned) throughout hotel were beyond stunning! The hotel is one floor up from street level; if carrying your luggage up a floor is difficult just push the buzzer and they will gladly help you! (I saw an earlier reviewer complain about this; read the signs and Sydney Hotel will help you!) There are both private rooms with ensuite and shared dormitories. The staff helped to arrange an airport transfer for 20JD.
170minr (10/5): Nice hotel for 1 night - The girl in the Hijab on reception was really helpful, she gave a lot of recommendations which were nice, she also set me up with a sim card and set it up which was a great deal. The room was small nice for 1 night, there was space to leave your luggage before and after check out and free water and lemon water to drink. The taxi driver they sent to us was very nice also and they were in constant contact with us.

amandawF9848GA (8/5): Good value for great location and clean rooms - I stayed 4 nights with single room. It provided good privacy as a hostel. Clean rooms with no noise at night. Good wifi, free air-con service and complimentory drinks. Super convenient location in the downtown and all the famous sightseeings are within walking distance. The only down side is you need to take another taxi from the North bus station if you take the airport bus.
909luciaw (10/5): Good value for money and would recommend - We stayed in Sydney Hotel multiple days while we were in Amman. The rooms are clean, quite and the staff are nice and helpful. The room with balcony are especially bright and roomy. We booked airport transfers from the hotel and it was super easy and convenient. The location of the hotel is very central and it is only a few minutes walk to shops and restaurants. I would definitely stay at Sydney if I am in Amman again.

It’s just a friendly, chilled-out place to stay – and in a great location.

It has everything a backpacker need and plus the workers are super helpful and friendly. Breakfast is delicius. Location is perfect. And is also very quiet. Anonymous (6/5): - Booked this hotel as a budget option given that we were staying in more luxury accommodation for other parts of our trip. It is fine, but it is just ‘okay’ being a budget option. We were very pleased with their airport pick up service, arriving at Amman Airport at 3.30am in the morning and having our driver take us all the way to our room (reception was closed) was excellent. The bed was comfortable enough and we were able to do laundry using their washer and dryer. The only real problem we had was there was no hot water, which in winter, isn’t ideal. The best thing about this accommodation other than the price is it’s location - only a very short walk down to busy Downtown Amman.
Fiona (10/5): My favourite Hostel - This is the third time I’ve stayed at Sydney hostel, and it’s one of the nicest hostels I’ve stayed in. I tend to travel over winter and it’s so warm and cosy, impeccably clean and the staff are really welcoming (hello Bassan) As a solo traveller, it’s small enough to meet people. There’s a comfy common area just off reception. Thanks again for a great stay.

Verified traveler (6/5): A hostel private room noisy & minimaly furnished. - Really is a Hostel with some private rooms with bath next to the dorms & meeting/breakfast room. The staff is helpfull! At this price we can't expect a new building, but there were large steps to climb at 1st floor (no lift), easy street parking, location 200-400m to busy foody Old City area. Problems regarding the room poor insulated & furnished: NOT the room from PICTURES! no rack & wardrobe! no luggage stand! no chairs! no mirror! extremely hard mattress! no view! We can hear everyone passing on the corridor due of thin wooden door with 1cm bottom space. The window have NO soundproof, we can hear the hostel courtyard, and we can't open the window for fresh air.

Verified traveler (8/5): Great Value - I did a private room and the room was big. Location is good for food and walking to sites. They sell Dead Sea products for a low fixed price and will arrange shared tours with other people in the hotel to save money. I shared a cab to the airport on the way out. Everyone here is friendly and goes out of their way to make your stay memorable. Tip: Konya Turkish Restaurant is 2 blocks away. Great place for hookah and kabobs. Con: My only complaint was the shower temperature. Water was warm but not hot. I think would be fine in the summer, but it was cold out. I didn’t wash my hair for 3 days. Water didn’t get hot enough for my preference.
Cavyn (10/5): Amazing location, none better for staying in Amman - Walking distance to basically everything interesting in Amman. We stayed for two nights and never had to get in our car once. Staff was friendly and breakfast was excellent. Only issue was our pillows were chunky and uncomfortable
Michael (10/5): Great Location, Tidy - Nice stay (twice) at the Sydney Hotel. It is in a great location; we could walk (though it was quite hilly!) to many places nearby. It was tidy and comfortable, and the hotel staff was helpful in setting up a car rental when we arrived and transfer after our stay.
Nicholas (8/5): Location, location, location - Hotel Sydney is the perfect location for the highlights of Amman. The Citadel, the Roman forum and downtown within comfortsble walking distance in one direction and the nightlife of Rainbow St in the other. Front desk staff are very helpfull and friendly. The rooms quite simple and clean with effective aircon. No smoking in the rooms but a smokers outdoor area. Good value for money, recommended.

Verified traveler (8/5): - This hostel (not hotel) is fairly dated but you get what you pay for. The price is cheap. The location is decent, within walking distance to the Citadel and Roman amphitheatre. The staff and facilities are average. The room was clean. The shared bathrooms were fairly average without being able to flush toilet paper (clogging issues). Overall good value for the price and location
Verified traveler (10/5): Simple but more than sufficient - Location of property is great - walkable to rainbow street and downtown amman. Staff was polite, helpful and knowledgeable. Rooms were simple, but really a clean bed, clean bathroom and warm shower is more than sufficient for our needs. The hotel felt safe and secure. My room had a little balcony with seats as well which was a nice touch. Breakfast was also simple but suited us. Would definitely recommend and return.
Mihai (10/5): Great hotel - The staff was very friendly. The hotel is located downtown, the area is very safe. The room was clean. They offered luggage storage for a few days while we were in Aqaba, Wadi Rum and Petra. I would definitely stay there my next time in Amman.
James (8/5): Good location gives the secure Sydney Hotel a plus - I enjoyed my stay at the Sydney Hotel. The hotel is a single floor in a larger building. Safe and secure with codes to get in and limits on visitors, the dorm and private room hotel offers an inexpensive and clean place near the downtown. The location does not have a lot to offer right at the hotel but a short walk will start to take you downtown. Downtown is not considered totally safe by everyone so be careful late at night. I stayed in a private room and slept comfortably on the bed, the A/C worked, and had a nice hot shower. Breakfast was simple but adequate. The owner was helpful and friendly. Dorms are inexpensive. My single cost slightly less than a nicer hotel I have stayed in and I might choose to stay there next time due to the ease of parking and the more upscale experience. However, if going for the location so you can walk to the Roman amphitheater and the market downtown, this would be a good choice.
Juho (8/5): Clean and well maintained - Based on a very short stay at the Sydney hotel, me and my wife were surprised how clean and well maintained the hotel was (the facade may fool you). It is located in down town.

The latest renovations has changed the rooms significantly to better condition as well bathrooms are better than ever , hot water is available 24 hours . The hotel located in the hart of Amman City Center . The Manager Mr. Tarek is very polite and cooperative person .
