Guest Reviews

- tracie (9/5): - The location was amazing, And the staff was very nice. For a older hotel i was very comfortable and it was very clean. The beds were amazing as well.... I can honestly say I have nothing bad to say.
- Tonya (8/5): -
- Derik (7/5): -
- Deborah (7/5): -
- Aura (7/5): - Good location, Easy access right in the center of everything 👌. Bedrooms are a little out dated , bathroom door is broken, its falling apart. And my recommendation is rugs need to be pulled off, holding a lot of moisture in room, smells like moisture..
- Jill (10/5): Perfect for the family, comfortable, and great location. - Rooms were close per request. The pool was clean and close to the room. Comfortable beds. Parking could be difficult. Parking around the area is also difficult.
- Karen K (3/5): Never stay there again, and may not use Booking.com again either. - When I got there the TV did not work. Then later when we wanted to wash up the sink was clog as soon as water ran in it. Housekeeping should have known that right away if they were cleaning the sink. Carpet was dirty, while walking around our feet were dirty. The bed was very soft in the middle as I sank down and pillows too soft. I paid $308.58, for 2 nights when it was listed on Booking.com and the motel web site for $160 for 2 Nights. Room size, soft bed and low water pressure taking a shower.
- Jennifer (4/5): -
- Gloria (1/5): Didn’t stay - Nothing Dirty, dingy. Old furniture
Didn’t stay
- Cathy (8/5): We had a wonderful stay! - The location was perfect. The staff was always very pleasant. I didn’t like walking to the pool or beach or even just to my car and the smell of someone smoking weed was present. It’s legal in that state so I guess there is nothing the motel can do about it. My Grandson was with me and there were a lot of families there with children. It wasn’t just there it was all over the city.
- Stacey (9/5): Great bang for our buck. Great location to the beach, boardwalk, golf and attractions - The location and price. There was no free breakfast.
- Dawn (4/5): - The location was great. Right on the beach easy to walk to the boardwalk. Had to look for staff to get towels for showers. We stayed 3 nights. First day we had to ask for towels none in the room. The pool was always filled with people drinking or drunk. They were smoking right outside the doors and smoking marijuana that much our room smelled like it. I was there with my family including 2 teenagers. The language that was used was awful. Also no luggage carts and no elevator. Had to carry all luggage up the stairs.
- Gianna (6/5): -
- Robert (4/5): I knew it was older but I at least expected a decent bathroom door! - The best thing was the location and the staff was very nice. Well it did not look like the pictures. The bathroom door would not latch and the door was completely rotted at the bottom! Also the room smelled like mildew!
- Christina (6/5): It meant my expectations for the price - It was a decent room for the price, no complaints N/A
- Tanya (6/5): -
- Joe (5/5): -
- Debra (8/5): Pleasant stay - Ocean front, pool, comfortable room Check in was confusing as it is now in another building with no clear signs or directions.
- BARBARA (10/5): -
- Sharp (8/5): - The room was nice and the view was decent for the price. The power went out for several hours and it was hot in the room with no AC which made it uncomfortable for sleeping. Tho that was outside of the hotels control. But perhaps a backup generator for the building would be a good investment. Otherwise I enjoyed my stay. And would stay here again in the future.
- Sandra (4/5): - The room smelled horrible, staff doesn’t speak English and those that do it’s barely understandable, and let’s address the bug issue there are so many outside that they will make there way inside
- samer (8/5): - beach
- Tristan (6/5): - Room looked unswept unpon arriving. I booked a room with a balcony, but was put in a ground floor room. A view of the ocean was blocked by high sand and a fence. Parking was fine, just across the street.
- TraceyAnn Davis (10/5): - .
- June Ann (8/5): - Beds were comfortable, room was clean, shower was hot, and location was great.
- Amanda (6/5): - The room was clean and efforts were made to update but overall I’d be shocked if the rooms and property passed safety inspections. It was probably stated in the listing but when I pay extra for an ocean front room I assume it’s a private balcony. It was not. At the end of the day we were there for the beach and the festival but the accommodations did not match the price paid.
- Marjorie (10/5): - loved the location in good shape for age
- Thomas (8/5): - Great location, pool and view.
- Brandon (10/5): - Room was clean. Office and service were friendly and helpful. The place itself is somewhat dated, but a quick weekend away didn’t call for more than a safe and clean place to sleep, which the Seabonay is. Location is great too. True ocean front view with dunes and just a few steps from the boardwalk. Definitely a solid place to stay, especially if you’re gonna be busy in OC and just need somewhere to sleep and clean up.
- JON (6/5): - Sweet beach and boardwalk but the water was still a little chilly.
- josh m (10/5): - Room was clean, no issues, staff came by with fresh towels when we needed them. Parking is super easy. Steps to the beach. Easy access to boardwalk and concerts. Staff made sure no one smoked on walk ways/balconies since its a shared walkway. Its nice not stinking from smokers when coming and going from your room. Much appreciated
- Amber (4/5): - Pictures online were very misleading. The unit was outdated and dirty. Sand still in the bathtub. Torn carpet. Nasty lampshades. Hole in comforter.
- Concella (2/5): - I refused to stay at this motel, but smell of mildew and mold was obnoxious. The boards leading to the room on the balcony were worn and looked as if they would collapse at anytime. They also did not advertise the fact that they didn't have an elevator. They charged me for a night's stay anyway even though I refused to stay there. Shame on you people, how about taking the time to fix the place up, I'll never, ever make this mistake again. Folks read the reviews, and believe what you read . Replace that dirty ,molded carpet with vinyl flooring. Don't stay at this place, you won't like it and they don't care because they will keep your money. 0 stars from me.
- Marilyn (10/5): - Close to boardwalk.
- Connie (4/5): - The rooms are outdated and need repairs/replacements of many things. Housekeeping needs to wait until check out at 11:00 a.m. before knocking and walking in to rooms!!!!
- Joselito (6/5): Needs A Renovation - The entire Hotel needs a renovation. It is in extremely poor condition.
- Christopher (10/5): - Staff was great room was clean but smelled very musty one of the bedsheets was stained and there was gum on the carpet floor. Overall great value for the price!
- Brenda (8/5): The room was damp - Room was damp
- Judy (4/5): - Had room 219. Smelled like mold musty smoking. That was not allowed. Vigilante on outside door. We will never go back to that. They moved us to the Dunes. Was
- Sophie (9/5): -
- Patricia Bowermaster (6/5): -
- Yvonne M (6/5): - Wish weather was nicer , wish there was a indoor pool, carpets need shampooing more frequently but all in all enjoyed stay
- Victor (8/5): - Our stay here was really nice we really had a nice time and it was very clean the room smelled great the pool was nice the staff were excellent we look forward to going back
- Robert (6/5): - It was an ok place to stay. Great location but we were on the 3rd floor and the shower was not good. The air conditioning makes the room full of moisture. The staff is great! Beds are small but comfortable and they had great pillows. Oh and be aware..... there is no elevator.
- Lacey (8/5): - Great location. We walked to the inlet and back a few times. Close beach access. Clean and comfy. Staff was really nice. Lights on the balcony stay on all night. Did not make sleeping great. The body soap was empty.
- Michael (5/5): - Close to beach Stink
- Brittany (8/5): -
- Austin (6/5): - Pictures are slightly deceiving. Loved the location, tight on the beach, lots of outdoor space. Unfortunately some of the outdoor furniture is broken. The rooms are run down, carpet torn, curtains off the tracks, but they were clean. People clearly smoke (pot) in these rooms which isn't the hotel's fault, but it aggravated my asthma. Vending machine didn't work but ice machine had ice. Bedding, towels, and bathroom were very clean. Housekeeping does a great job.
- Christopher (8/5): -
- richard (6/5): - price - very reasonable
location - excellent,on beach, ocean veiw balcony
came into clean room, clean bedding
stayed 3 nights, during stay house keeping was poor
beds made up once after request, trash emptied once, fresh towels were left both days but dirty towels were never picked up during stay
- Lisa (6/5): - Hot water, comfortable beds, ocean view were great as well as sstaff!!
- Diana (8/5): - It was oceanfront! With an awesome view. Inside was very clean! Everything in bathroom was new! People were very friendly and helpful. I wanted to move from an oceanfront 3rd floor to 2nd and there was no problem! No charge!
Free coffee was great!
No pets though.. so I had to leave them at home😩
- Wendy (8/5): - Reasonable rates for being located right on the beach. Rooms were older but clean. Did have a slight musty smell but it is located on the water.
- Krista (10/5): Best vacation spot !!! - Amazing time and great location
- jason (8/5): Staff note - Location Staff could clean a little better
- Verified traveler (6/5): Meh - When I arrived there was a dried up, used wash cloth left in the bathroom - if that was there, what other shortcuts did they take when supposedly "cleaning" the bathroom and room. On my last day there, there was an odor of vomit infused heat activated decades old garbage and a liquid path of something disgusting extending all the way from the top floor decking and down two sets of stairs. When I mentioned these things at the front desk no one seemed to care either time.
- Edgard (6/5): -
- Sara (10/5): - My fiancé & I stayed at the Seabony Hotel & We really loved it. We will definitely stay here again in the future. The hotel rooms are nice, Close to the beach & The boardwalk is right there.
- Chelsea (6/5): - It was okay. A place to sleep and shower. Proximity to the beach was great. It was clean but smelled musty. Bedding was clean but had a stain. Room was clean.
- Violeta J (10/5): Was a good time there - Great services
- Anthony (4/5): - There was very dark colored mold in several places on walls and ceilings. Had to purchase bleach spray to clean it. Wiped the bathroom floor with a white towel and it was black. In four days room service changed our towels once. The room smelled moldy and musty. Even my son said it smelled bad. They don't clean this place at all. People also sit in front of your entry door to smoke. Didn't help the smell in the room. I do not recommend Seabonay for anyone to stay.
- Carmen (4/5): - It was not what i expected at all
- Alex (6/5): Seabonay Stay - Stay was okay. Liked how close it was to the beach, shops, and boardwalk. However, when arrived could not find front desk easily and directions were not clear. Went into room and found piles of sand in one of the windows, and curtains had ink/paint stains. Also, half of the outlets did not work in the room. Ventilation in bathroom was very poor. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
- Shannon (8/5): Aside from having to walk up the 3 flights of stairs, it was a very pleasant experience. - Loved waking up to the ocean view. No elevators.
- Echeverria (8/5): - HabÃan demasiado mosquitos y habÃa muchas cosas fuera de lugar agua cayendo de los A/C
- Andy (4/5): - The location is great. Property is run down and dirty.
- Lisa (4/5): - The room needs renovation! Very run down! It has potential if they put some time and money to fix it up. The lock on the door was very flimsy. Didn’t feel safe. Anybody could have broke through the door! Average cleanliness. Wouldn’t stay again unless it is was updated.
- Kimberly (10/5): - We love staying at the Seabonay. The location is perfect for us. The boardwalk is one block away, on the quiet end . Don't expect anything fancy . These are clean safe rooms period ! Check in has moved to the Dunes .
- Jamie (10/5): Close to ocean and was clean - Nice and close to the ocean. Room 216 was clean and comfortable. Pool was nice. Staff was nice. Thank you! Needs more plugs in the wall
- Tina (10/5): -
- Karissa (1/5): Aweful-Go to Dunes suits instead - Absolutely nothing. Terrible Pictures look nothing like the property at all..
almost fell through the floor trying to get to our room. There was a ginormous hole in our bathroom door. Not sure how the place passed inspection to be honest.. however I talked with the staff and they offered us to stay at their other location for the same price. And it was beautiful. Dunes suits it’s a nice place.
- Ashlee (8/5): I’ll be back - 3rd time we’ve stayed at this hotel and will continue to come back! Not the ritz but definitely not a hole in the wall either. Right on the beach. Comfy beds, clean room.
- Jennie (6/5): - Great location. Easy parking. AC worked great in the room, but everything was damp. No remote for the TV. Towels are incredibly thin and sparse. Housekeeping tried to enter our room after we told them we didn't need anything and left 3 hand towels and a washcloth outside, which was odd and we didn't ask for them.
- Enrique (6/5): - The rooms we had had a bit of a smell to them that was not gone during the stay
- Dorothea (10/5): Seabonay Amazing Stay - To book another stay for the first floor beach front for August 13,2026- August 17,2026. No elevator to transport luggage.
- Claudia (10/5): - Love this place ! Great location and staff
- Brenda (9/5): -
- Stacy (4/5): Damp and smelly - Room 105 had a horrible DAMP MOLDY smell. Room was so damp the floor was wet the chair seat was damp the covers were damp and within the first day all of my clothes were damp. Tried turning the bathroom fan on thinking that would help but it didn’t work either. The smell was so bad when I was in n the room I left the door wide open as much as I could.
- Cyndi (4/5): - this place is infested with mold, the smell is unbearable. don't sit on the furniture. seabonay should not be open to the public i am still sick from the mold after checking out.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good enough - Pros:
- Location. It's right at the end of the boardwalk so practically beach front.
- Parking included, plenty, and felt safe.
- We didn't use the pool but it looked nice
- Didn't seem like there were bedbugs. We didn't look thoroughly and I never put my stuff on soft surfaces but I don't have any bites.
Cons:
- We booked an "oceanfront" room, but it wasn't worth it because our windows were tiny and it's a motel so we didn't have a private balcony to open a door to. Not a big deal, just something to consider.
- Poor ventilation and the room was so musty and mildewy. The carpet was always damp and dirty. When I first went to place the bath mat down, it was already soaking wet, prob from a leak in the ceiling because it had just stormed.
The bottom of the bathroom door was so damaged from moisture it looked like frayed cardboard.
Dampness was so bad, while we went out for the day, I cranked the heat to 90 until we came back 12 hours later to dry out the room and that helped a little bit.
- Shower pressure was not great and drain was slow
All in all, we just needed a room to sleep and keep our things because my family had a nice condo a few blocks away so we showered and spent most of our time their or out doing stuff. The bed was comfortable enough, although made very poorly and had bits of some type of bugs' legs on it (spider cricket?). There was dried gum, holes, and rips in the sheets.
Good enough place to stay but should be cheaper.
- John (8/5): - Need to do more maintenance
- Denis (10/5): N/A - Very clean
Excellent staff NA
- Leonel (10/5): Me sentà muy comodo y tranquilo - La piscina muy limpia , el cafe las atenciones muy confortables. Una observación deben poner atención al olor a humedad.
- Lynn (7/5): It was ok - Property was good The beds were not comfortable and they didn’t give us enough a blankets came home a day early
- Jessica (8/5): - First of all, the property wasn’t as bad as some people were saying. The views were spectacular and room and bathroom was clean. There was a slight musty smell but it wasn’t that bad, I turned of the air for a few hours and it didn’t seem to be bad after I turned it on.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Don’t stay here. - Location was great, but that’s about it. Our room smelled of mildew and the carpets were wet and remanded wet our entire stay. There was also mold on the walls. The room looked like it had never been deep cleaned especially the flooring as well as having cracked bathroom tiles. The outlets were hanging outside the wall.
- Susan (6/5): - you get what you pay for. Property run down and could use updating. Toilet running all weekend.
- Murtagh (10/5): -
- Jessica (8/5): - The staff were friendly and location was perfect. Other guests didn't follow the no smoking policy which was frustrating.
- Eden (4/5): - Rooms were dirty, and room service was awful. Only perk was that it was close to the beach and main attractions. But we will not be staying here again. There was weird odors in the staircases/hallways and the rooms carpet was mildewy. Definitely needs some upgrades like a lot of motels and hotels in OC. It’s honestly very sad that most places in OC want to charge so much money and the rooms/facility is mid and dirty.
- Jessica (6/5): - The blind was falling down and there was food still in the room on the floor. The listing said that there was a balcony for the room but the balcony was actually a community balcony with some chairs placed on it. Also, having no elevator was a tad inconvenient for being on the 3rd floor.
- Melisa (3/5): -
- James (4/5): - kinda run down, rooms had a damp feeling to them. have to check in at the dunes since they are all the same property. very tight spaces around the pool area in front of rooms. pool needs an update as it looks very worn out and the chairs are all beat up
- Theresa (4/5): - Inconvenient to beach. Needs updating & repairs. Lock on door did not work with the key. Very humid & moist on walls. Bathroom in dire need of tepairs
- Tracy (8/5): - Perfect location The rooms felt damp at all times
- Keith (8/5): - Facilities can use some updating. There was confusion as to where to check in. Proximity to the beach was good.
- Lisa (8/5): Pretty good - Overall the experience was good… there was no elevator and no private balconies… tv channels were very limited and not very kid friendly … but the view was great and the service was really good and the room was clean!
- theresa (2/5): - The room is old and dirty. It’s so moist in the room. We can’t even get in. We have been locked out three times. Can’t get a hold of anybody to come unlock the door. I would never never recommend this place. It is nothing like the picture showed this was very deceiving, and I would never come back here again
- Amber (6/5): - The view of the water from our ocean view room was beautiful, but honestly, that's about all this hotel had going for it. The images shown of our room were totally inaccurate. In reality, the room was musty, old, and falling apart. The "balcony" is actually just the walkway in front of the rooms. Check in was ridiculous and left us searching for the right place to check in. Then, we had to hunt to find how to get to our room on the 2nd floor. Luckily, another tenant saw us and explained how to get up there. They had the same issue and the only hotel staff we saw weren't able to speak English and therefore were unable to help. The staircase was in a cramped outdoor walkway (tunnel-like) between the 1st floor rooms that smelled like urine and had water from the a/c dripping. No elevator, so be ready to lug all of your beach gear up 2 or 3 flights of stairs. The listing states that it's a minute walk to the boardwalk, which is true, but it's at the end of the boardwalk, so another 20+ min walk to get to the stores and activity. I would say this is a 'you get what you pay for' kind of thing but the price difference wasn't enough to make this worth it for us. All of that being said, it all depends what you're looking for. There's a bed, a shower, a toilet, a/c, and a beautiful view of the ocean if you stay on the 2nd or 3rd floor. 1st floor oceanfront, you'll only see the dunes.
