• Linda (9/5): The location and price is great if you’re okay with more of a cabin-equse stay by the beach - I love that it felt very treehouse by the ocean vibe. The fresh air and true essence of Hawaii were a vibe. You can walk to Foodland, the beach, and you get to hear roosters and chickens in the morning. You have to really know that it’s more borderline camping near the beach with just a little extra and you’ll be good! The mosquitos were pretty brutal.

Le finestre non si chiudevano correttamente, alcune luci non funzionavano e in tutto l’ambiente era presente un forte odore di umidità. Il mobilio era vecchio e deteriorato, con parti di legno che erano in procinto di staccarsi dalle pareti. La cucina risultava sporca e la camera estremamente fatiscente. A causa delle condizioni dell’alloggio siamo state costrette a trasferirci altrove, perdendo anche parte del denaro già speso. Esperienza decisamente negativa.

• Jordanne (9/5): Super auberge abordable sur la North Shore - Auberge rustique. Vraie ambiance surf et détente. Les petites maisons sont dans la nature, avec des poules qui gambadent. Les cottages n'ont pas de vraie fenêtres, juste de moustiquaires. Ca m'a surprise au début mais vraie sensation d'être en extérieur, en communion avec la nature. Plage en face du "Plantation Village" et possibilité d'emprunter du matériel de snorkeling gratuitement. Plage de Waimea juste à côté accessible facilement à pied et magnifique. Supermarché et foodtrucks aussi accessibles à pied. Très bon rapport qualité/prix. J'ai aussi adoré les personnes de mon cottage, super état d'esprit. Bus qui passe au pied de l'auberge. L'équipement de la cuisine était très rudimentaire (pas de micro onde, peu de couverts, pas d'épluche légume, poêles très vieilles). Il ne faut pas vouloir se lancer dans de la cuisine.

• Melinda (10/5): Fabulous location & great vibe at a very affordable price - We loved the North Shore location. Beach right across the street and close to many other beaches. Foodland was block away and there were some very nice food truck options also within walking distance. My inner hippie was in its glory here! Such a wonderful and friendly vibe! We had room “F” and it was definitely one of the larger rooms. The bathroom was always clean and the shower had amazing pressure! Kitchen was so convenient and had plenty of dishes, etc. Truly an amazing value for this location! The stove on our kitchen only had one burner that worked. It wasn’t a problem for us once we realized that we only had one working burner. Everything else was great!
• Jennifer (6/5): - Wir waren eine Woche im Beachhouse des Backpackers untergebracht. Das Apartment hat grundsätzlich alles was man benötigt. Ich gebe den vielen Bewertungen recht, dass es dringend einer Renovierung bedarf. Es ist alles abgewohnt. Kaffeeflecken von den Tassen gehen schon nicht mehr abzuwaschen/ Küchenutensilien könnten mal erneuert werden. Und es bedarf einer Grundreinigung. Der Fußboden war wie klebrig, die Möbel/ Schubladen, Bettgestelle etc. müssten mal abgewischt werden, die Ecken im apartment gereinigt werden. Das war zumindest für unser empfinden nicht der normale Standard. Die Lage ist dafür top. Zum Supermarkt läuft man ein paar Minuten, sodass man sich super versorgen kann. Die Mädels in der Rezeption waren auch stets sehr freundlich. Während unseres Aufenthaltes hatten wir durch den Kona Sturm zwei Tage keinen Strom und warmes Wasser. Hier hätten wir uns vom Betreiber ein besseres „Krisenmanagement“ gewünscht. Wir wissen, dass es eine Ausnahmesituation war, aber gerade da stellt man seinen (ausländischen) Gästen ggf. Informationen/ Notfallnummer und eine Taschenlampe zur Verfügung. Wir hatten ein Auto und konnten selbst 30 Minuten entfernt in den Supermarkt fahren um uns Licht, Essen und Getränke zu besorgen (in Pupukea war alles geschlossen). An sowas sollte man denken und sich hier mehr Gedanken um seine zahlenden Gäste machen.

• Steven (6/5): Potential to be great! - Great location and the cost is good for it. Friendly front desk guy. Right on the beach. I understand it’s a hostel, so I wasn’t expecting the Ritz. Check-in could be better thought out: I arrived at night with a car and had no instructions as to where to leave the car. They close at 5pm, so there was no one to answer me. I just assumed this info would be on their website or in the check-in instructions. The room itself (beach building room F) had such potential! It’s wonderful to be right on the beach and hear the waves. But it was really run down, the bathroom was in need of a major update, and the kitchen had cockroaches everywhere. Yes, it’s tropical, but they do sell roach traps. Little fixes here and there could make this a wonderful place!

• Smile :) (10/5): Très bon choix - Plusieurs emplacements de parking disponibles (gratuit), bon Wi-Fi dans la chambre, chaises et matériel de plage à emprunter gratuitement, emplacement idéal sur la North Shore très près de l'épicerie Foodland et des food trucks, deux clées pour la chambre, Check-in tôt dès 12h30, paiement par carte de crédit. La maison à l'arrière est toute faite de bois, c'est magnifique. Eau chaude dans la douche avec bonne pression. Le check-out à maximum 10h est un peu plus tôt que d'autres hébergements, mais cela permet un check-in tôt très apprécié. Une air climatisée dans la chambre serait un bel ajout plutôt que le fan au plafond et le ventilateur.
• isabelle (6/5): - La situation géographique, la place de parking près de la cabine, le calme, la végétation... Prix peu élevé, rare pour un hébergement à Hawaii et intéressant pour les backpackers! Les cabines sont très vétustes, les lits superposés instables, peu d'espace de rangement, peu de prises (une seule fonctionnait pour 6 lits, c'est peu...), le matériel de la cuisine est quasiment inutilisable, pas de vitre aux fenêtres (j'ai eu froid la nuit) et pas de rideaux.

• Sandra (3/5): Sehr stark renovierungsbedürftige Unterkunft - Wir hatten die Möglichkeit einen Tommy Bahana-Strandstuhl auszuleihen. Die Unterkunft liegt nur wenige Kilometer entfert vom bekannten Pipeline-Beach. Das Badezimmer war zweckmäßig. Unser Zimmer ähnelte einem alten, heruntergekommenen Dachboden. Von den freiliegenden Balken des Dachstuhls fielen Ameisen in unsere Betten. Die nicht verschließbaren und kaputten Fenster sorgen dafür, dass es nachts sehr kalt wurde. Auf schriftliche Nachfrage nach einer zusätzlichen Decke wurden wir ignoriert. Ein Herd stand zur Verfügung, wovon allerdings nur eine Kochplatte funktionierte. Dies führte oft zu Engpässen bei der Essenszubereitung. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und bemüht, allerdings war die Chefin sehr unfreundlich und telefonierte während unseres laufenden Gesprächs. Insgesamt ist die Unterkunft stark renovierungsbedürftig. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis stimmt überhaupt nicht.

Close to everything, walking distance to Foodland, food trucks, and easy to get to all the best beaches. The cabin was clean and well stocked. Staff were very friendly. Beach chairs, boards, and bicycles available for rent low cost at front desk. Overall great value, so nice to find an affordable option with such good vibes. Other guests in the shared spaces were good about keeping noise down after 9:30 pm per signage posted by management.

The staff were super friendly at check in and had beach equipment available for free. Nice atmosphere and close to a supermarket. This was our first visit to Hawaii and this property really set the vibe for the rest of our trip. Loved the common area but the bed could be a little more comfortable. The room could have also benefited from better air conditioning as there was just a fan in the room.

Big deck overlooking beach. - Apart from the room being so hot in the afternoon (room does have fan but if you don’t leave it on while you’re out for the day with a window open it’s so hot) everything else was amazing, great space, spacious, comfy beds, nice bathrooms, awesome location, breakfast bar looks out to the beach, well worth it! The house was hot each afternoon, not the end of the world, but good to know.

It was also just a five minute walk to Waimea Bay one direction and Foodland the other. It was was pretty basic, and had no shampoo or conditioner, but was still good value for the price.

• Anja (9/5): - Wir hatten das Zimmer mit den 2 Doppelstockbetten. Alles entsprach den Bildern und die Küche war mir Kühlschrank usw gut ausgestattet. Auch ein kostenloser Parkplatz ist dabei und der Strand ist direkt einmal Ober die Straße. Wir kamen relativ spät an und auch das hat super funktioniert. Das Zimmer selbst hätte etwas sauberer sein können und alles ist schon etwas abgenutzt. Die Straße hört man sehr deutlich, mit Ohrstöpseln ging es jedoch.
• Ulrich (7/5): Small town location - Location is good, food trucks and a small supermarket are in walking distance, it's a very small town, but be aware you need a form of transportation if you want to explore the area, there is a bus stop close. The rooms are nice but the bathroom door and curtains should be replaced, most days there's a good cleaning by very friendly staff, WiFi needs to be improved and the multiple roosters start waking you up around 5 am! The price per night is good for the north shore. Need for transportation and weak wifi
