Guest Reviews
- Bev (8/5): Excellent for visiting city. - Easy walk into city. Apartment was clean & had everything you could possibly need. Coffee, tea & breakfast cereal provided. Excellent to have parking. Tom was a quick call away for any questions. Nothing.
- Srikanth (7/5): - no breakfast at the location but walkable to restaurants and coffee shops.Grocery stores also nearby in case you want to buy something. The rooms were cold.even though we bumped up the heating a few times, did not feel warm.
- Karen (10/5): -
- Neil (10/5): Very lovely comfortable stay! - It was a lovely house for the 5 of us to stay. Much better than a hotel as it was so relaxing. The house was very clean and had all the things we needed for a stay over. Can’t think of anything!
- Brian (9/5): - Property well equipped and in a great location. Host was lovely to deal with.
- Hannah (8/5): - Lovely house, super location. Very happy Could do with a baby gate for the stairs in the living room.
- Louise (8/5): -
- Kelly (10/5): Great location. It was a very nice cozy apartment -
- Sophie (10/5): - Style du logement, emplacement, possibilité de garer son véhicule, propreté, accueil

- Yatin (10/5): Excellent property with excellent location - We stayed in the Firemans cottage which is ideal for a small family of 3-4 people. This property was clean and well maintained. The location is excellent as it is around 10-15 mins walk from the city centre and Canterbury Cathedral.
Would surely recommend to friends and family.
- Fiona (10/5): A warm welcoming place where you can relax with friends - The property was perfect for a break with friends as we wanted to explore Canterbury. It is only a short walk to the city centre.
The host Tom communicated regularly with us checking we had everything we needed and offering help if we needed anything.

- Lisa (10/5): - We stayed at The Arthouse whilst on a short break, choosing it for it's location to Howletts wild animal farm and also Port Lympne. The Arthouse was wonderfully quirky with many delightful pieces of art to enjoy. It was a real home from home. We were short of nothing. Tom had even prepared a breakfast hamper which we soon finished! The upstairs en suite was a real bonus for us. We stayed as a family of 5, one of whom was a toddler. There were games and books for children and adults alike. The proximity to the centre is excellent and the free parking an added bonus. It was lovely and warm and also, despite it being a busy main road, we didnt hear a thing. Tom was very helpful before, during and after our booking. There's a really helpful information guide in the room too. We would definitely return. Nothing.
- Carole (8/5): Overall lovely comfortable house to stay in and very central location to explore Canterbury. - Kitchen facilities very good, comfortable, spacious and tasteful decor throughout. Central location. 2 bathrooms great for 3 of us, sisters. Road noisy, awoke me in morning in front bedroom.
Walk in shower on first floor was blocked and very slow to drain so water flooded over shower tray on to bathroom floor. This need fixing.
- Lara83-11 (10/5): - La casa è molto pulita, ben arredata e dotata di tutti i comfort. Atmosfera rilassante e accogliente. Nulla.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was clean and comfortable with everything you need for the stay.
- Eric (10/5): Nice stay highly recommended - Old fire station building, nice location, car park, clean place
- Pauline (8/5): Good location for the city, comfortable house - Nice to have the supplies provided and great to be from local suppliers I bit surprised that there were a lot of stairs as my friend has mobility problems
But this wasn't too much of a problem.
- Mark (10/5): Would thoroughly recommend!!! - Property, location, beautifully presented, facilities, communication. Would throughly recommend
- Majah (10/5): Exceptional -

- Dianne (10/5): Great stay in Canterbury, well equipped house. - Great location, very clean A bit chilly in the lounge
- Sze (9/5): Great stay and challenging parking! - The location The parking 🤪 very tight corner to park and make a turn out from the unit
- James (8/5): Great! - Location great A
Combination of a
Cold
Snap and the heating not having been on for a while meant the property was
Very cold
On arrival and took a little
While to warm up
- Mollie (10/5): Exceptional - Thank you ever so much for such a wonderful stay.
- Salou77 (8/5): Beautiful unique accommodation in a great location - Location is perfect for city centre stay, house is very spacious, beds are comfy and hosts are lovely and helpful. There's supplies there for tea, coffee, and cereal/biscuits, which were a nice welcome. Would definitely stay again when visiting our daughter It's extremely cold on the lower floors where shower room is. The old doors front and back definitely need some insulation to help this.
Shower tray had a lot of hair in, so it was not cleaned properly before arrival and not sure floors are mopped as our socks became very dirty walking around.
- Dominic (10/5): Exceptional -
- Adele (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jamie (10/5): Fabulous accommodation - Stayed for one night. Would have enjoyed staying longer.
Lovely clean accommodation and felt very homely and close to the shops, restaurants
- Toby (8/5): Ideal for our short stay in Canterbury. - Off street parking.
Spacious.
Near to town.
Access to 2 bathrooms. It was great to have off street parking but it was a little tight getting in and out.
It would have been difficult to have prepared meals as there was very little work surface in the small kitchen . Fortunately, as we were only there 2 nights it was not an issue.
- Ian (9/5): Unique property - No breakfast arranged. Location excellent x parking challenging with big vehicle.
- Ammu (9/5): Felt like our own home - Very comfortable cottage. The standard of everything is excellent. We had excellent nights sleeps in super comfy beds. Will highly recommend to friends and hope to be back.
- Catherine (9/5): Family trip - Great place to stay on our visit to Canterbury for our sons graduation.
Good communication with detailed instructions.
Easy to walk into town where there is plenty of restaurants but also if you wanted to eat at the house you could as all equipped to do so.
Spacious. Couldn't open some of the windows easily.
- Wendy (9/5): Very comfortable and conveniently located property. - Location and comfort were great.
Plenty of room and great to have 2 bathrooms.
Good welcome pack. Difficult to open keypad box. This will need to be looked at.
Flush on en suite toilet needs fixing.
- Malcolm (9/5): Superb -
- Lee (9/5): Superb -
- John (6/5): - Positives: Washer / Dryer / Kitchen with Frig / Clean
Negatives: Felt like Hobbit house. Doorways bearly 5 feet tall / Stairway down right unsafe / Front door inches from busy roadway / noisy traffic / no parking
- Daniel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Richard (8/5): Very good -
- Lynda (7/5): Good -
- Hazlan (9/5): Superb - Location, cleanliness, very well written House guide, tasteful decor - mix of modern amenities (eg. Bathrooms, dishwasher) and old fixtures, clear and timely Communications with host Entry and exit Parking was a bit challenging. Dryer didnt not work
- Steve (10/5): Exceptional - We visited our daughter who lives near so we could make best use of our time there.
- Graham (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nara (10/5): Charming cottage - The area was gorgeous. The cottage has a charm about it that surpasses anything I have ever experienced before.
The upstairs bedroom area is perfect. The kitchen has everything.
The bathroom has a shower/tub combo and is quite large.
It's a short walk to the town center(10 mins)
It was a perfect weekend getaway.
- Sirajuddeen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Katharine (10/5): Full of character, full amenities, short walk to city centre - Such a fun property! Art and history staying in an old fire station. Lots of stairs - fine for most and two bathrooms mean you don’t have to go up and down much.
- Alan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ofek (10/5): Exceptional - Very beautiful and comfortable, the location was great and Sebastian the host was lovely
Will definitely go back !
- Anna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Esther (9/5): very nice and spacious house at a very good location. - very nice atmosphere, spacious, good location, many extras like an oven and not only a microwave. The living room had comfortable seating for everyone. Walk to the city’s west gate was between 5 to 10 minutes. We came by car, so also appreciated the free car park. I prefer softer beds
- Zoe (9/5): Superb -
- Noranz (9/5): Superb - cosy house
- Derek (10/5): the perfect choice for a Canterbury visit - very quaint and very comfortable - great location. tried to book another stay but just too popular!
- Senthil (8/5): great location - location
comfortable rooms
equipped kitchen
Sebastian was very helpful! I would use earplugs if sleeping in bedroom 2 as close to main road!
- Norasyikeen (9/5): Close to Canterbury Attractions - Easy to get parking outside the house, comfortable/convenience/clean house for my family (2 adults 2 children), complete kitchenette for me to prepare dishes, washing machine with dryer (not many accomodation can offer washing machine with dryer), huge bathroom, close to Canterbury attractions eg. Westgate Towers, Old Town, boat punting activity, Cathedral etc. Grocery stores also nearby (can also walk there), wifi. 1. Perhaps could replace the existing TV to smart TV with netflix, youtube 😀 2. The low ceiling and uneven flooring 3. The door entrance which is just close to the street (cant say much as it is the house location 😀 but be extra careful specially family with small kids.
- Anonymous (10/5): We had a fantastic time and if ever we come back we would definitely try to book the Art House. There really wasn’t a si - The new property was spotless and really close to the shops only a 5-10 min walk, but just far enough away that it was nice and quiet. there wasn’t anything that we disliked about the property
- Anonymous (8/5): A real gem in central Canterbury - It was beautifully presented There was a rattly window at night, which I think I sorted!
- Tania (1/5): Very noisy traffic all night - don’t expect to sleep - It was close to town It was next to a busy road and the traffic was very noisy. We got very little sleep. This place is not up to standard for an apartment on Booking.com. I would not recommend staying here.
- Tomalin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lasantha (10/5): enjoy much - kitchen….very Small but a 90% complete one.
- Aline (10/5): I loved it they were amazing days certainly if I go back to the city I want to stay in the same place - the house was spacious close to everything very well located
- Nicola (9/5): This property perfectly suited our needs. - Grateful that cereal was provided. We often struggled to get the key out of the lock in the front door.
- Margarita (10/5): Exceptional - It had everything we needed. Fully equipped kitchen, comfortable bed and sofa. Everything was just as we wanted. The house was on a busy road.
- Analía (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sirajuddeen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Amal (10/5): Canterbury home away from home - the place is very clean and comfortable. Everything you need is available. neighborhood is great and everything within walking distance. Sebastian is a great host Wifi was slow
- Ross (8/5): Very good -
- Alexandra (8/5): Very good -
- Sonia (10/5): Thanks Sebastian and Adelle for a wonderful stay. - Fabulous house, had everything we needed for our one night stay. Sebastian and Adelle are great hosts. Breakfast was an great bonus too. Thank you.
- Elaine (8/5): Very good - Location was good
- David (10/5): Very relaxing and enjoyable. - Great location for City Centre.
- Matthias (8/5): nice stay, can be recommended - Location, nice and stylish interior beds (mattresses) were not comfortable; WLAN hardly ever worked
- Lizzie (8/5): It was all wonderful except for the noise coming from the traffic. - Location was great and the apartment is clean and comfortable. The apartment is on a busy road and noise from traffic did not help us sleep. The windows do not have double glazing.
- Danny (6/5): Quite nice. - Good location. Should have mentioned stairs were quite steep for us older people.
- Anna (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nicolas (10/5): Lovely - Everything was brilliant and clean would definitely stay again
- Caroline (9/5): lovely location and would definitely recommend - location was great. property was nice, clean and the staff were very friendly parking was a little tricky and the Wi-Fi was a little hit and miss. not a big issue as I was able to hot spot.
- Dawn (10/5): Reunion at the Arthouse - We couldn't fly to our annual reunion in Turkey so we decided to visit one couple in East Kent and bring the reunion from Scotland and Northampton to the Arthouse. We had great comms from Sebastian and Adelle from the beginning. Key code given in the morning and found everything as it should have been. The front bedrooms are a wee bit noisy as on the main road but with secondary glazing, a lot cancelled out. We had everything to start our trip off, a few kitchen essentials. Parking is very tight with only one space and our friend decided to stop the traffic to help us reverse out in the morning. Very central, loads to see and do and we would definitely return here. Overall the house was clean, had everything we needed. Lots of info on places to visit was given, some quirky artwork around the house as the name would suggest. If you're visiting this area I would recommend staying here, I don't think you'd be disappointed. The only thing to consider is that it is a townhouse with lots of stairs, so if mobility issues that is your only drawback. Otherwise, get booking!
- Faith (10/5): Peaceful retreat - Really enjoyed a peaceful break, lovely central location and well equipped. Would recommend.
- Daren (8/5): Great family cottage - Lovely cottage very close to Canterbury centre, very homely. Road outside a little noisy but fine overnight.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Would recommend - Great and quiet location. Excellent facilities with a kitchen and a living room. Very friendly and helpful staff. The stairs were steep and narrow, which was a bit of a challenge with big and heavy luggage. It was also a surprise that the private bathroom was two floors down from the bedroom. Delicious breakfast was served in the nearby cafeteria. Definitely worth the price.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Bien situé - Proche du centre de Canterbury, endroit calme et chaleureux, nous reviendrons ;)
- Sebastian (8/5): Different - Very interesting place, only one night but would rebook it in area again
- Ian (10/5): One the best - This was a first for me as i usually stay in mainstream hotels. However this was probably one of the best places ive stayed. Close to the city centre, very clean, very comfy and Sebastian was very polite and welcoming
- Samantha (8/5): Mysigt! - Bra läge, fin inredning, rent och hjälpsam personal. Lite kallt i rummet.
