Guest Reviews
- Andrea (10/5): -
- Dolton (10/5): Would stay again if I am ever in the area - It was such a pretty quint place. Loved the garden type setting. Very Quite if all windows and doors are closed.
- David (5/5): All good - Pool and management Kinda hidden away
- Darleen (7/5): - Location. The pool area and middle landscaping was nice. Mirror in bathroom was dirty. Found some hair that wasn't cleaned. The sink appeared dirty but was chipped.
- Tim (9/5): Charming surprise - A charming true garden court motel in the woods. It's a survivor from a different era. Rooms face a central lawn with trees and pool. Personal porch to sit on in good weather More bedding. Only sheet and thin blanket. It was cool but late April so we didn't have the heat on. Chilly. But bedding was clean and proper
- Benjamin (10/5): A wonderful stay in Paradise! Hope to return… - The breakfast option is sufficient. They offer coffee and tea and they have a variety of choices including instant oatmeal, mini bagels, bread, yoghurts, hard boiled eggs, juice, fresh fruit and a variety of danish, and other yummy breakfast goodies. The hours are from 7 am to 10 am.
I also thought the location of the motel is significant to be able to walk to nearby restaurants, grocery outlet, and liquor stores. I chose to walk from the motel to nearby places of interest. I felt very comfortable in this new community and also found the walking trail a nice addition for a safe place to walk. I can’t think of anything that I really didn’t like. The access to the pool was great from 7 am to 10 pm. And staff were amazing. 😊🙏
- Mary (10/5): Lovely stay - Great location. Beautiful, well kept grounds. Room was big and comfortable.

- Norton (10/5): We had a wonderful time enjoyed the pretty flowers pool and hot tub, made friends with other guests - It was good and fresh
- DodieandArt (10/5): very comfortable and far better than we expected. - so very quaint the rooms are like little studio apartments. We had a jet tub and didn’t even ask for it. i would highly recommend this hotel. pool area is gorgeous every room has private patio facing pool. Breakfast is included. Win win all around!
- TerryAnne (10/5): - It was close to my son. Best Westrrn was my only option before The mattress was a little lumpy and saggy
- Debra (10/5): Best hotel, well worth the price!! - Location is great! We stay every year when we visit our kids! Love the rooms, bed was fantastic, surrounding areas, walking trail out back and the staff! Jen is awesome!
Dutch Bros is right across the street! Have not at breakfast at Ponderosa only because we hook up with our family and eat with them. Longer stay but our time is limited as we head home for Christmas.
- Jacob (10/5): I expected a bed, a mini fridge, and a microwave. What I got was essentially a studio apartment! - Breakfast included mostly items purchased from Costco or other bulk food stores - plenty of options for juices, milks, breakfast pastries, bagels, bread, sweets, packaged oatmeal, hard-boiled eggs, coffee, fruit, and more. Not a 'traditional' continental breakfast, exactly, but more than adequate for anyone's needs. There was nothing that I didn't like. Everything was exceptional.

- Torbjorn (9/5): A sunny stay in Paradise - After a long drive from Susanville, we arrived at Ponderosa and were pleasantly surprised by what we found. The accommodation exceeded our expectations, providing a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere after our journey.
The room was excellent, offering everything we needed for a relaxing stay. One of the highlights was the small patio just outside our room, which allowed us to unwind and enjoy the warm evening air. Upon arrival, we headed straight to the pool area. It was the perfect spot to catch the last rays of sunshine and further relax after our travels.

- Carole (9/5): 1st visit to this part of lovely northern Califo rnia, but not our last. - Location was easy to find & perfect for our plans. The extremely destructive wildfires here @ 7 yrs. ago did not destroy all of this lovely area. Still lots of trees, & the most friendly, helpful community. This inn's continental breakfast had the most diverse, plentiful offerings we have ever seen. And it is beautifully landscaped, including amazing Hallowe'en decorations! Large new tv had 2 remotes & was very difficult for even mgmt. to get working. We are very tech savvy & gave up.
- Kip (10/5): -
- Napoli (10/5): Wonderfully Beautiful!!! - Everything was good!!
- Tamra (8/5): -
- Linda (10/5): More like a spa then a hotel, at hotel prices - The oasis pool & hot tub were like a high scale spa, and the huge rooms walk out to the pool Nothing
- Nydia (10/5): If you’re looking for a quiet relaxing place to stay, this place is a great. - Spacious room, great pool/outside area, and free breakfast with many options. Plus dog friendly for a very reasonable fee. Not necessarily walking distance to food options and/or things to do.
- Kenneth (10/5): - Great clean place with a nice couch for relaxing. The sliding door leads to a little patio, and the pool.
Jim's Place us within walking distance with good music. I will be back!
- Dona (8/5): Great value - Great pool!
- Rüdiger (10/5): We had an absolutley fantastic time here! - Awesome staff, great pool, unbelievable beautiful and well kept garden.

- DeBernardi (10/5): - The room was clean and spacious. I didn't get to spend much time at the motel, but what time I did spend was peaceful and relaxing.

- Debra (10/5): - They have done some upgrades and additions. The pool is very relaxing. Beds comfortable. I travel with my elderly mom so it is really nice to not have to worry. Jen and Cindy are awesome! Thanks again! See y'all soon! Room 28 needs a better fridge and freezer combo.

.

- Emily (9/5): Superb -
- Beverly (9/5): Relaxing - The property was beautiful, and beautifully kept Booking.com somehow messed up my reservation - it was cancelled. Thankfully there was a cancellation and the motel agreed to allow me to pay only what I had originally booked with Booking.com.
- Insauste (10/5): I would love to book with this motel again when I go visit someplace near again! - It was very private and safe for a motel . My partner and I loved it very much. Nothing was not to like. Everything you needed was made available to you great staff and safe area.
- Rebecca (8/5): Relaxing and cozy - Very beautiful scenery, very welcoming and cozy N/a
- Judy (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jacky (10/5): Really good value for the money. Spacious and clean and lovely setting staff very friendly and helpful - Very tranquil and pretty. Surrounding area still affected by the wildfire but thats not their fault.
- Melinda (8/5): Can always be relied upon. - I have stayed there maybe 10 times over the last few decades. Reliable, staff always very cheerful. Rooms are comfortable and quiet. They lost a few buildings in the 2018 fires, but still have a large amount of rooms. My cat was welcomed. Room was staring to look a bit worn. Carpet old. Shower pressure was a bit low, but adequate.
- Evelyn (8/5): Very good -
- Shiori (9/5): Superb -
- Debra (10/5): It was relaxing and want to come back and invite others for a weekend away! - Everything! The smell of our room was kinda bad.
- Mary (10/5): It was good - It was good It was good
- Helaine (8/5): Generally quiet and clean. Nothing special. - Great bed, large room, nice patio, clean
Was raining so did not use pool or hot tub Paper thin walls. Though non smoking in rooms, guests can smoke on their patios so that cig smoke easily penetrates into nearby rooms even if sliding doors are closed
Typical prepackaged breakfast items

It has old school charm with great pool and jacuzzi. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable. The continental breakfast choices are plentiful and the coffee was surprisingly delicious. The staff couldn't have been nicer. Thanks! 5/5
- Carson (10/5): Hidden gem in Paradise - Charming old school motel. Beautiful grounds and pool. Very nice and attentive staff All good!
- Betty (1/5): We did not stay there it was dirty and smelled went to the Best Western but were still charged - We did not stay for more than 5 minutes the place smell awful the blankets on the bed were old place was dirty. My 5 year old granddaughter walked in and said this place stinks!!!!!!
- Ondrej (10/5): Exceptional -
- Diane (10/5): Exceptional -
- Boettcher (10/5): Exceptional - sTANDARD cONTINENTAL breakfast but several choices for fruit Hot tub could have been hotter
- Ortiz (10/5): I will come again ❤️ - Just very beautiful and clean felt very homie and the staff was very nice and welcoming the out lay of the motel was very beautiful and clean the pool and hot tub was very clean as well No clock in the room
- Tina (8/5): Very good - Very Nice place 👌 Seal around the door leaks a lot of cold air into the room, The mattress was some type of foam, laid down, it was like being in a hole.
- Karen (10/5): Great option for a great price! - Absolutely love the Ponderosa. We have booked there three times already.
We have family in Magalia and this location is perfect.
The rooms are huge!! Most rooms look onto the pool. We have yet to come up in the hot months to use the pool, we camp up that way in the summer. But pool and hot tub look good.
The past two stays we have booked two rooms which have been joining rooms. One for my husband and I and one for our teens.
Our first stay we had one room and there was more than enough room for my oldest to set up his sleeping bag on the floor. Plenty of walking space in the room.
The bathrooms are also very clean!
Mini frig, microwave and coffee in the room. This last time we brought a cooler and were able to microwave snacks
The property is clean and inviting and staff are wonderful, and so kind! I would only say if arriving in the evening when raining or foggy it may be a tad hard to spot the entrance. It looks like you are entering into somewhat of a business park but keep going and you’ll see the office/lobby.
There is a lighted sign out front but if unfamiliar with the area it can be a little confusing.
But absolutely love this place for the price!
- Jeanine (8/5): Very good -
- Katherine (10/5): Exceptional - We have stayed here several times and love the peaceful atmosphere. We tell all of our family and friends about this place. We've had several family members stay there also.. Nothing really.

- Freeman (9/5): Our go to place for comfort and relaxation!! - This is a comfortable beautiful place to stay and relax!! They accept pets and have large areas to walk with your dogs!!
The grounds are beautiful and the rooms are all on the pool area with outdoor verandas!! The staff always pleasant and helpful!! Rooms have a warm homey feel with quilts on the beds microwaves and small fridge!! We live in the area but whenever we need a break from daily grind this is the go to place!!! Like everything!!!
- Baker (10/5): Exceptional -
- Roger (9/5): Superb -
- Kristan (6/5): Clean and private - Well landscaped and maintained property. Very quiet and peaceful. Close parking. Accessible office. Walking/ hiking trail behind hotel.
Check in confusion and delay because of using booking.com and had to sort out how to not recharge me and show already paid. There was a black widow spider in bathroom.
Could only do showers, due to specks of black mold coming out of main bathtub faucet. Rinsed out with shower nozzle and switched back to tub faucet and tried about 5 times before giving up on a salt bath.
Strong smell of sewage 2nd night outside of buildin. Next morning smelled of cleaning products, so issue must have been addressed.
- Wendy (9/5): Very cozy, clean, older establishment. Very well kept and the beds were very comfortable. - The bed. Sooo comfortable. Also like the tree covered grounds, play area, nice pool. The breakfast was a nice gesture but we prefer hot breakfast (scrambled eggs, sausage, etc.)
- Patricia (8/5): Would stay there again - Close to the pool Tub didn’t drain
- Barbara (8/5): Very good - Room
