Guest Reviews
- Chloé (8/5): Bien - Très bon séjour à l'hôtel, personnel compréhensifs et patients face à nos difficultés à parler anglais.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Room was smaller than we thought it would be and smelled of cigarette smoke. It was a non smoking room apparently. Bed was very uncomfortable
- Shafiq (8/5): Good location - Hotel quite nice and comfort. Good location near tram station.. Walking distance to albert cyptmarket.. If have a kettle to make hot drinks will be appreciated. And the heater is not working during our 3days stay.. Too cold at night.
- Clare (4/5): Terrible value for money - Room was clean, bed comfortable enough, but very basic for the exorbitant price, shower unreliable (cold), no way to get hot drink if breakfast not included, Expedia did not warn me breakfast not included, my card was charged extra 20 Euros after booking no explanation, no warning of poor internal access (I am disabled), staff rude and unsupportive and uninformative. What a rip off.
- Jenni (6/5): Basic room, nice staff - The room was small and basic with just tv, but it was clean. The reception was in another building over the canal, which was a bit inconvenient. Customer service was very good. The room was ok for one night stay and De Pijp area is worth investigating. I recommend taking the tram to Central station, by walking it takes quite a while.
- Giancarlo (10/5): - I stayed at a Room with private room, somehow small but very comfortable. Great hotel for a short stay in the city. Very close to downtown (10 min in tram, or 30 min walking).
WiFi doesn't have good reach on the third floor though...
- Alicia (8/5): - We had a lovely experience, we found a charming little market 2 minutes down the road from the hotel and there’s a local store opposite the hotel. The photos were a little deceiving as the photos (the breakfast room leading into a nice garden) were not in fact in the hotel but a few minutes walk over the canal into the ‘sister’ hotel. Despite this, we were welcome to use these facilities and they were good. The hotel is very convinently placed near a tram stop (I’d highly recommend buying a ticket) which went right into town and all around. We had a lovely holiday.
- Karen (4/5): good location hotel not good - 20 mins walk into central amsterdam, no reception or anyone based at hotel for any help you need to go to the sister hotel iris, the toilet was inside the shower, and sink in the bedroom, i didnt think that was nice. first night no towels in room , the only good thing was location
- R (4/5): Poor value annexe to another hotel - I wonder if the owner has ever stayed in this hotel? It's a cramped, mean conversion of a townhouse which lacks any kind of thought or attention to detail. Paper thin walls, cheap bed which slides around the floor on castors, no drinking mug (even a disposable cup would have been OK), no spare toilet roll, no chair of any sort, cheap thin window curtain with a floodlight right outside, TV unusable.
It would be very poor value at half the rate I was charged.
- Maria F (8/5): Muy bueno. Chek in en otro hotel! - El supermercado al frente es lo más!!! Hotel limpio.
- disnita (10/5): Nice hotel close to metro and tram stations - I was in a super clean, comfortable and with nice furniture. Pratical room for short or long staying
- Apartamento bem pequeno. Mal havia espaço para duas malas. Conseguimos nos virar mas faltou conforto. A localização é ótima.
- Sarah (4/5): - room was fine- small, but worked. Walls were too thin and neighbors partied wayyyy too loudly
- sam (6/5): - other than our room being duplicated with someone else, and they came into the room and woke us up, lovely stay.
- HYUNBO (2/5): Worst of worst Worst of worst
Never go here.
Dirty, small, Expansive. Cant believe this one has been classified into "Hotel".
- troy (6/5): AMS - Not bad...smeled smoke one night and a bit noisy. Staff was pleasant!
- Verified traveler (2/5): Hotel handy location but would not stay again - We found this hotel to be loud, noisey and would not stay here again. There was a lot of crashing and banging from doors and the rooms throughout the night. There was very limited facilities and the place could have been cleaner. Seemed more like a hostel.
- Michelle (6/5): Okay hotel - The check in is so confusing. When you go to the sister hotel (Hotel Iris) it looks like there is no check in there. They don't tell you that you have to go downstairs. So go downstairs when you get there. The wifi was also very terrible, which is a little disappointing. I didnt have unlimited phone service so I couldn't really even stay in touch with anyone at home. The hotel is fine and the location is decent as well. It's a little overpriced for what you get, in my opinion.
- Joyce (4/5): A little room in Amsterdam - The hotel was in a convenient location. Great little supermarket and cafe across the road. Good shower, but flooded the bathroom floor and each time. For a four day stay for 2 people the room was too small. Would have been OK for one night or one person.
No coffee or tea making facilities in the room or building.
- Sabrina (8/5): Nice stay - We checked in Iris hotel where the receptionist was really kind and polite.
The room was quiet tiny but not to bad to stay two nights.
The rooms on the stairs are noisy, we could feel all the people walking on the stairs.
Clean room. Nice area where you can walk for about 30 min til centre.
- Julian (10/5): Excellent - Great
- Honest Gent (2/5): Look elsewhere, this place isn't good at all. - Very disappointed with this hotel. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, unless you are used to sleeping on the streets. In that case it would be an upgrade. Move along.
- Erin (4/5): - Not worth the money at all! Small room, the service was not very nice. The only redeeming quality would be the proximity to city centre
- Ina Catrin (2/5): Noisy but good location - The description when I booked the hotel through hotels.com said there would be AC and soundproof rooms. This is absolutely not true! The noise from people running up and down the stairs continued through day and night. People were having some sort of working area in the backyard, so you couldn't sleep in. The only way to get fresh air was to crack a window, but then you'd have a mosquito gathering inside; and cigarette or weed smell filling the room from the people smoking upstairs.
Bathroom is tiny.
Breakfast is served at the other hotel(Iris).
Cleaning is between 11-14, but the day we checked out housecleaning knocked on the door a little after 10. Check out is at 11. We didn't have any sign to hang at the door for them not to disturb.
Room was relatively clean and WiFi was good.
Stayed in room 5. Will never return to this hotel.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Modest accommodations in a good location - As expected, this hotel room was relatively small, but it was as described. The room was clean and the staff were very nice. The location was good, since it was in the city of Amsterdam--within walking distance of attractions interesting neighborhoods. We did have a couple of issues, however. 1) It happened to be pledge week and the hotel is right next door to a sorority house. We experienced some loud parties, especially the first night we were there. 2) The windows can be opened to let in cool air (no air conditioning or fan). However, as seems to be typical of some European houses, there are no window screens. So the mosquitoes can come in and feast, which is what they did to us the first night we were there. We kept the windows closed after that, which made the room somewhat hot.
Kun to minutters gange.
- Steph L (6/5): Friendly staff - There is only one or two staff to help in the reception for 3 different hotels. We stayed at the Floris Hotel but we need to go to Hotel Iris to check in. Even though we can't check in on time, as limited number of staff to clean the room. Staff are always trying their best to help. We do appreciate they did a great job. Although the location is not very close to the the city centre, there are lots of cafes, restaurants and supermarket around that area. Will recommend people for short stay.
- Verified traveler (4/5): für Singles ok - Zweckmassiges Zimmer mit komfortabelem Bett und sauberer Dusche...Empfang alles andere als gut...Schlüssel mussten in einem anderen Hotel abgeholt werden. eigentlich ein no go ....
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel - We had a pleasant stay at the floris, room was clean and decent size. The only thing would be that they don't have an elevator and if your room is at the top floor (4th), carrying your luggage up is a bit of a challenge. Overall a nice hotel.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - If you are planning to check in before 5pm, you can do the check in at floris. However, if you are arriving early and want to store the lugguage to do a bit of sightseeing first, then you need to go to iris. As the reception will open until 10pm.
The room is small but this is something expected in amsterdam. I could still manage to open my large suitcase without a problem. The stairs are narrow and steep. If you planned to travel with a large suitcase, remember to request a room located in lower floor (that's what i did). It would be to far to walk to dam square but it is only about 10 minutes walk to museumplein.
- Chau (2/5): The room doesnt look the same as photo!! - I and my friend did the last min reservation, choose this hotel was basically because of its location and "THE PHOTOS OF THE ROOM LOOK CLEAN AND NICE" however, its wasn't, the room is dusty, old and dirty. and we found bed bug. we couldn't sleep well in the whole night. Also, its extremely noisy in the midnight til morning, you can hear people talking on street and the noise from the room next to us. Please notice that the price of the room is not that cheap, around 80euro, but with this kind of home, NOWAY ANYMORE.
However, the staffs were nice and helpful
- Fernanda (8/5): Bom custo beneficio ..
Voltaria .
- Hannah (6/5): Good Hotel - The hotel is about a 15 minute walk to the centre but to get there you walk across the canals which was lovely. I like the fact its slighty away from the centre as it is a bit quieter but is in easy reach of accessing the centre. The room was clean and nice and lidl is across the road so was handy. We went as a couple so was ideal for us.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Fint opphold - Fint opphold, sentralt.
- puneet (10/5): pleasant stay - The girl at the reception was very helpful.
Breakfast is very good.
Everything went really smooth and fuss free.
- Emma (6/5): Great budget hotel - Great budget hotel in a good location. Room was very small but clean and comfortable. Would stay again!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Recommended - Room a little bit on small side but it is clean and complete with everything. Opposite to cheap supermarket. Nice stay.
- sophie (8/5): - This hotel was a gem for us, as budget travelers we don't usually get accommodation as nice as we had here, and the staff were so helpful and friendly! Bathrooms were lovely and the rooms were much more spacious than we were expecting. There is a supermarket across the street and hiring bikes from reception is very easy. Thank you Hotel Floris for an awesome visit to Amsterdam!
- louise (8/5): - A few days staying here great location would defiantly recommend
- Kristie (8/5): A real gem! - I loved this place. I was looking for an affordable, clean room in the heart of Amsterdam as I only had one night...
The staff were exceptional. They all were extremely professional and friendly. I felt as if I were in a 5 star hotel by the way they treated me.
The breakfast was delicious combing healthy choices with a local Dutch flavour.
They are going through some growing pains... Working to have reception in this hotel so in the meantime, checkin and out is at hotel iris a block away. The stairs are steep with no elevator making it difficult with a large bag; however, the staff were more than willing to carry my bag for me.
The room was clean. I liked the feel to be in an old stone building. And the wifi was appreciated. It was small, but it was all I needed as I came to see the city not spend the day in the room. All in all in was perfect for me. The people make this place extra special!!
- Timothy (8/5): Beautiful 15 minute walk to redlight district - My fiance and I stayed on the 3rd floor. Great tiny room. Warm and clean. Great bed and covers. Brand new spacious bathroom for the size of the room. Value for lacation and price. Excellent staff.
- Mike (6/5): Well situated & relatively quiet Hotel - I had looked around for a relatively cheap hotel to take a half term break with my 8 year old son. I was looking for somewhere that was in a fairly suburban part of town, where there would be less chance of noisy, single sex groups.
The Floris matched my requirements, and I booked a few months in advance. As it had been stated when I booked, that there were rooms with 2 single beds, I emailed the hotel to request either a room with 2 singles, or a double with a camp bed. Unfortunately, when we arrived, we had a room with only a double bed, and with enough space to fit a small wardrobe. Also, the hot drinks vending machine never seemed to have cups available.
Apart from these negatives, the hotel room was relatively clean, with a good bathroom and shower. Breakfast was served in a neighbouring hotel, and was well cooked and value for money. The staff in the sister hotel were all pleasant and helpful. It was only a few minutes walk to two tram stops, which either took you to the museum district, or through to Central Station.
One last, small, negative was on the last morning when we discovered how thin the walls of the hotel were when the guests in the adjoining room started to get amorous. Prompting my son to ask me if the lady in the next room was OK?
- Rosie (2/5): Don't stay here! - On check in we had to do this at the sister hotel across the road and as we arrived early morning we couldn't actually check in until 14:30 but were allowed to leave our bags there which was fair enough. On arrival to our actual hotel, we walked into our room which was open and not yet ready for us which we weren't told about. The maids who acted as if we weren't there and who walked past us a number of times without even a hello made the bed etc and left. The room...well, it was small, tiny small!! The photos from the website were definitely misleading and taken at angles to make the place look a lot better! The shower cabinet was nice....but had the toilet in there too!! And the sink wasn't there but in the room! We moved the bed slighly only to find a mouse trap underneath! Brothel-style curtains and red lights above all the doors didn't make it feel very special, like the price would suggest! Called reception to tell of all this and they couldn't even offer a bigger room as apparently these were double the price but booked out anyway! So we made do for the weekend. What I will say is, even though it was not in the centre it was in a lovely area with a nice market, bars, restaurants etc. we never paid a fortune to stay here but expected a lot more for our money and looking around since it seems many other places offer better! Rookie error :-)
- Rob (4/5): Not great - Pros: Friendly staff, good location near to supermarket and nearish to trains and trams, price.
Cons: Tiny room, terrible pillows (and no spares), shower room (so toilet got drenched) and tiny sink in bedroom, walls scuffed and carpet worn, very bright hotel sign just outside the window and thin curtains.
But on the plus side, Amsterdam is a lovely city :)
- Ivy (4/5): Not easy to find and to register. Room was small. - Shower drain was plugged, no one on site to clear.
- Sophie (10/5): Great price for a good location and room - Comfy, clean rooms with en-suites, excellent price and a good location too - supermarket right outside and only a 15 minute walk into the city centre. Check in at another hotel (Hotel Iris) across the road but this is clearly posted on the door with a map showing it's location (and it's only a 1 minute walk away!) Reception staff at Iris were very helpful and you can leave bags there after check out.
- Alan (4/5): Very over-priced, low grade room. - I stayed here to attend a big conference in Amsterdam - obviously with such an event in the city all hotels increase their prices, but frankly the amount I paid for the Floris was over and above what could be justified. The hotel has no reception or security on-site, the room I had (8) was very small and dated with chunks of plaster missing from the walls, nowhere to properly hang clothes and some kind of pest/insect trap at the foot of the bed.
The wetroom had been recently refitted, but was extremely small.
- Chris (6/5): Long weekend at tge Floris Hotel Amsterdam - The location was great! We were only there for 3 nights so it wasn't too bad that the rooms were very small. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was very clean. The lobby had a strange smell when we first arrived that wasn't too pleasing. The hair dryer was really bad, did not do much. For the price paid I would have paid a bit more to stay somewhere a little nicer and perhaps a bit bigger.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Simple, overpriced - This "hotel" is definitely not worth the price tag. It is quite far from the city-centre, you need to go to it's sister hotel to check in, and there is no coffee/tea, etc. provided. Overall, I'm sure you could find something for a similar price with much better facilities and that is closer to the action.
- Lisa (2/5): Terrible experience - I was looking forward to my stay in Amsterdam but was sorely disappointed by Hotel Floris. First, the entrance is two blocks away from the actual rooms in a hotel with another name. The room was clean enough, but the walls were terribly thin. I could hear the people in the next room turn on the faucet, dry their hair, and have conversations. I had to leave for the airport at 5:30 am and I could hear that they were woken up by my alarm clock. Also, I had no water in the shower. I mean no water. I had to wash my hair and try to get clean using just the sink. And the room wasn't cheap. I will say that the staff was very kind and helpful - once I found them. I would never stay there again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): simple hotel near to amsterdam centre - good shower.
good location.
very friendly staff.
not good television reception.
smell of cleaning products in room.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The people and hotel itself were very nice and location/room itself was great, however the registration process and general organization is illogical. For whatever reason, you find out when you arrive that Floris does not have a registration desk - you must register at another hotel located 10 minutes away, with the registration counter in the basement. The Floris is not actually even its name anymore - it has been changed to Hotel Max, which makes things fairly confusing.
- Valerie (8/5): Couple things you need to know - Before booking, you oughta know a couple of things about this place. 1-there is no reception on site, you need to check in at an hotel on the other side of the bridge. If you want to leave your baggage before 3pm, know that the reception is in the basement and you have a very scary steep staircase to take (I was told it was the pure Amsterdam experience! :)) Then, know you'll have more stairs to get to your room (going up or down!) But staff is friendly and will help you. Also, remember that this is cheap, so do not expect a luxury room. It is small, beds are not comfortable but it was clean and bathroom was really great. (shower was brand new actually). It is close to trams and in a quiet neighborhood and also I felt safe. So, if you are on a budget and are travelling to Amsterdam for a couple of nights I would definitely recommend this place. If you can afford to pay more, maybe you should.
- marjan (4/5): nice personnel but rooms awful - Personnel very nice and friendly. Breakfast ok. Rooms very tinservicwful to stay in. Sink is in the room since toilet extremely small and nothing is done inside without improvisation. No elevator and staircase very steep. We had difficulties in lifting our suitcase as there was no service for it. Neighborhood fine. Tram station and lidl just across.
- Jake (10/5): - Excellent hotel in a decent location. Right next to tram and subway routes. Make sure that you go to the sister hotel to check in which is about a block away. I can't recall the name exactly but you should get an email from them with that hotels address.
