- jennyhZ4663TN (2/5): Avoid at all costs!!! - I have traveled all over the world. This was the worst hotel I’ve ever come across. We booked as it was close to the interstate and we could stay with our pet for one night on a long trip. We were driving two vehicles, one of which was a luxury sports car. The moment we pulled in, people who were outside smoking came up said they’d be happy to take it for a drive. This alone made me nervous. We checked in, parked in the lot, went inside despite being uncomfortable about leaving our vehicles in the parking lot. The lobby was ok, but once we opened the door to the hallway to access our room, hit in the face with smoke / weed smell. The room was even worse. We asked for non-smoking and the room took your breath away because of the odor. The bed was a full at best when it was advertised as a queen, drywall was coming off the wall, and nothing looked clean. The windows were not secure. I have never been worried about safety before but I was at this location. We immediately left. The icing on the cake is as we were walking out, heard someone in another room yelling for help. Awful hotel and not safe. We elected to drive 21 continuous hours rather than stay there. It was the worst hotel I’ve ever seen.

The staff was friendly and welcoming from the moment I checked in, and they made the whole process quick and easy. When I get there I get a whiff of old stale cigarette smoke, but at that point I'm like ok well I already paid and I'm exhausted so I'm willing to overlook that. So as im about to check in the receptionist tells me she has bad news.. Her system or computer was letting the hotel book more stays than they had rooms available, so basically I was left with no option but to leave and get a refund of course since I never even got a room. We ended up driving home 3 hours away got home at 3 am and were super exhausted.. The morning after I had to call the hotel because I noticed I never got a receipt for my refund but they told me I had to contact Hotels.com, wich I did and they were able to help with the refund. The whole thing was super upsetting so becareful when booking with this hotel.
- Olivia (6/5): - We were going to carowinds and brought our pups so we needed a place where they could stay and this motel was really convenient because they were super pet friendly and we could walk to the park. The staff was very kind and welcoming so 5 stars for that. However, the room was not clean, specifically a lot of gross areas on the walls, the shower had a huge patched spot that looked like we could fall through, and they have a roach infestation which was really unnerving. If we were planning a longer stay we would have had to find somewhere else, but given the limited time we were in the room, we made it work.

Both rooms where infested with bugs, no soap or shampoo in either room. I tried to get a refund bc the room where nasty and has bugs and I was told it's my own issue, we both slept in the truck bc the rooms where not in an condition to be slept in at all. There was people deal drugs by the back door and the front counter said to mind my business. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

I went over to the front desk they talking about dog friendly, umm okeyy why is there ma dog hair on "clean sheets" front desk couldn't even give me new sheets cuz they were all out seems to me like they didn't even attempt to change the sheets from the last person who stayed in the room. Also found a phone in my room inside the microwave which is very concerning. Next day they told me some employee allow people to be in my room before my reservation and that was the reason why my room was dirty, took the sheets to “clean them” no Sheets for brought back to the room ….. Hallways smell terrible and I've seen about 3 roaches. 120 sum dollars to sleep on some nasty as sheets don't waste ur money.... And don't even try to send me no apology this business need different management, workers and better cleaners.
- Karen (2/5): Motel 6 Fort Hill SC - Employees at front seat were nice . The whole building reeked of pet smells, poor cleanliness , unprofessional hotel management. Rooms were nasty including bedding. Rooms were infested with roaches. The building and rooms were poorly maintenanced. We will never go back there . We would have changed motels but money was non refundable.
- t (1/5): Gross - Most of the staff I came into contact with were pleasant. The gentleman who checked me in was friendly and did his job well. The guest room was beyond nasty and likely a threat to ones health. The walls and doors appeared to have been used instead of Kleenex and toilet paper and I am not sure what the sheets were covering that was supposed to be the bed. The public areas weren't much better. Id sleep in a trash dumpster if it was the only other option to spending time at this Motel 6

At 3am the next morning, if I did not have the locks on, the desk clerk would have been in my room, knocking and yelling to the top of his lungs, asking who was I and what was I doing in this room! I was in a very deep sleep!! He said that the room was confirmed for other people! He was one lock away from being in the room! The office lady claimed she had to put me in a fake room number in order to check me in. She withheld truth! Terrible experience! I had to call the desk to find out the problem. He said he saw where I was put in a wrong room, but the damage was done! I could feel the springs in the mattress against my body in the bed! Everything was set up for someone in a wheelchair. There was no chair in the room. The one requested was saturated with the smell of urine that filled the room! Had I sat in that chair, I would have been thought to be nasty and smelly I was too tired from travel to complain and get bad treatment for that. So I sprayed the chair to kill the odor and put it to the side! Same lady brought the chair and checked me in!!!! The bathroom was filthy! The handicap seat in the shower had been burned with most of it charred and missing. The smell of marijuana was problematic and I had to either turn of the ac or improvise in order to breathe! It made me smell like I was a smoker! I never smoked in my life! I had to go I am due a refund.

The Motel 6 website says they allow check in at 18, but Eddie (at the desk) would not let them check in and turned them away at 10:30 PM. NOT GOOD. Above and beyond that, they told me that the location was dirty and NOT SAFE. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL. STAY ANYWHERE ELSE BUT HERE.

I never stayed here and the hotel manager declined my refund. This is completely unfair when they say check in is 18+

I even wasted money on trip insurance that I'll never see again. I was prepared top spend a certain amount on a room and the one I ended up getting was almost double. I can't rated what I didn't see.

- Hana (2/5): Worst motel experience in our lives, and we've been to a fair amount of 2 star properties. - Not a dang thing 😔 We've stayed at a few other Motel 6's and The cleanliness of this location was worse than disappointing. While waiting to check in, the housekeeping and front desk staff were discussing 3rd floor rooms and if they were able to take care of the offensive odors. Immediately after overhearing this, I was booked into a 3rd floor room 😔. I then asked if I was being put in the room they were just discussing, but was assured that I wasn't. While walking to our assigned room one of the cleaners from downstairs was back on the 3rd floor and asked if the manager informed us about the room, which she hadn't. He said then mentioned that they had a situation recently with squatters on the floor and someone had been shot up there as well. But he said it wasn't in the room we were assigned. In that actual room the bedding was not on and we noticed that the door has obviously been pried open, so we requested with the gentleman to change rooms and he let us pick a room with a larger apartment sized fridge and freezer. Additionally, the hallways and especially the rear staircase were filthy and smelled like dog and dog urine , which made it really unpleasant to use. Unfortunately the only elevator was extremely slow, so the stairs were often the quicker option despite the smell. But I suppose that's what having $0 pet fees brings.

- Dan (2/5): - Ok, this hotel was booked for a bed and a shower for the night after we were at Carowinds amusement park. The price was a big selling point. My biggest issue is we booked for 2 nights but wanted to leave after the first night. The lady at the front desk said it's not an issue, to just check out after the 1st night and you will get credited for the 2nd night. After we left, I was notified that the hotel denied the refund. The place is a little run down; there are many vehicles in the parking lot that have been there for a long time with flat tires. No one was at the front desk when we came to check in and I waited about 5 minutes only to be greeted from someone that walked in the same front door as I.

The tv and mini fridge were both broken, Water was shut off twice , the first time was a full day and night. The second time was a whole day and half the night. - Ayleen (2/5): worst experience of my life! - I did a reservation for 2 non smoking rooms. On check in the attendant did tell us we couldn't stay in the same floor since evertthing was full. Room 1: 3rd floor dirtyyyy floors, washroom had burnt marks all over, the people next us had a party and their smoke was coming into the room. at 11pm I couldnt take it anymore and left to go to room 2. I notified front desk about the mishap. Room 2: 1st floor, dirty, filthy, shower was broken!!!! at least it didnt smell and was quite so I was able to get a little rest but had to share my bed with my niece. Front desk: very polite and understood the situation and reimbursed.

- Beverly (1/5): Bad - I liked that the motel was in a location where carowinds was across the street and the gas stations were nearby. I HATED that the rooms were not clean, dust under the bed and clogged drains in the shower tubs. The staff couldn't even get inside of the hotel housekeeping closet to give the guests Toilet paper. It constantly smelled of dog feces in the hallways. The hardwood floors were dirty when you wipe the floor with a tissue wet, you could see nothing but dirt. The facility did not feel like a safe place. You couldn't really get staff to listen. My stay was originally for Monday to Friday but I literally got knocks for check out by hotel housekeepers or stay over. The air filters were very dirty and honestly made the room muggy and the air very heavy. I do not recommend this for children. The pool was okay but constantly had boulder rocks and debris in it. (I cleaned myself when I went to swim) and I did not see allot of families at this hotel with children which made it more uncomfortable because it's not a friendly,family kind of environment.

Upon arrival, the smells of raw sewage and marijuana hit you in the face from the moment opening the lobby doors. I’m a single mom and was traveling with my son after a day at Carowinds and made my reservation with confirmation with Expedia.com. I was informed by the front desk that my room had been given away, I wasn’t the only guest there dealing with this. They had no other rooms for me or the other guests. I was given an email to give to Expedia.com for the cancellation so I could get my money back but the smell was so toxic inside the lobby, that I had to step outside to finalize the cancellation. The hotels phones weren’t even working. Everything was filthy. Even though I was exhausted and it was 11pm at night, I was relieved after seeing the property and especially smelling it, that my room was given away. I had to make the two hour drive home instead but at least I didn’t have to deal with the smells and countless homeless people right outside the establishment. There was a ton of police presence around as there were people sleeping outside the front lobby on mats. This place is really uninhabitable and needs to be shut down and cleaned out. The fact that Expedia.com says it family friendly is total fraud. Disgusting. Businesses have to do better. This was a horrific experience. DO NOT STAY HERE EVEN FOR FREE. It’s disgusting.

The closeness of the location to the interstate was helpful for a quick and easy place to stop to get some rest. Cheapest price in the area. Pets were allowed. Although the man behind the counter was nice and helpful he was the only employee. I booked online and when we arrived he was not sure there was a room available. He was able to give us a room but he had to go up to clean it because there was no housekeeping employees. He left us waiting for a very long time while he cleaned the room. As we were waiting at least 10 people started to gather in the lobby all needing something. These people started discussing a murder that happened there days ago and people were shooting guns into the windows and how the 3rd floor is where squatters live and sell drugs. (our room was on the 3rd floor). This made us feel very uncomfortable. The facility itself was very dirty and run down. It smelled like cigarette and marijuana through the hallways. You could tell the employee tidied up the room and I think he did his best, but you could tell it was rushed and not cleaned the way a room should be. The towels seemed clean but there were hairs on them and we were only given 2 (there were 3 of us). The beds were made but there were stains on the sheets and comforters. Floor was dirty and door didn't lock properly. We felt very unsafe! The cost was too much for the stay.

- Hamm (3/5): It was fine until I was bullied out of my room and treated like a second class citizen. When I was an outstanding tenet - Pool was closed. I was put on a do not rent to list- even though I paid. They made me empty out my entire room after I had been staying there for 2 weeks with my 10 year old daughter. I am in between apartments and needed a place to stay- I told them my father was helping me pay it was a Sunday and he was at church and I told them would be there with in 20 min! Which was 11:20am . They got a “bouncer” and called the police to watch me empty out my room. My daughter was absolutely terrified and crying! As soon as I empty out my entire room (2 weeks worth of luggage) my father showed up to pay. They put me on a do not rent to list but aloud me to stay under my father’s name. Who was not staying in the hotel. I’m pretty sure that’s not aloud! I use to work front desk for choice hotels. I have never been treated so poorly and like I was a criminal!!! Everyone in the hotel was watching as I packed w 2 big black men standing over me! Talk about intimidating!!! I asked managers to take me off the list since I did nothing wrong. And they said it was a complicated task and that it was hard to reverse. They all refused to help me and wouldn’t give me the correct person to contact through corporate. I would like to be taken off this list as I did nothing wrong but keep to my self and pay them lots of money!!!!
