- Verified traveler (2/5): Unprofessional staff and very poor service - Unfortunately, we had a very disappointing experience. The room was fine, comfortable bed, but everything else ruined our stay. We arrived at 11:30 pm and since there was no minibar, asked at reception for drinks. They sent us to the rooftop bar but staff rudely said it was closed even though people were being served. Only after insisting did they agree, but only if we paid cash. They refused to charge it to the room, unacceptable for a hotel. Drinks were mediocre. Next morning I asked for an iron. The first one was broken, the second one taped together with a burnt plate that ruined one of my dresses. Still, they said that’s all they had, demanded a €20 deposit “in case we stole it,” and I had to carry both iron and board upstairs myself. Housekeeping also ignored the “Do Not Disturb” sign, entered anyway, moved our belongings and threw away items we still needed! Clearly an invasion of privacy. At checkout, I said I’d left the iron in the room as we had luggage. Instead of helping, reception mocked us in front of other guests, even joking we had packed the iron and laughed when I mentioned the ruined dress. When paying city tax, they simply kept the remaining change from my deposit without apology. Toilets near the lobby and breakfast area smelled awful, breakfast space was chaotic with people changing clothes and bags everywhere. Overall, staff were rude, unprofessional and arrogant. Service was far below expectations. I cannot recommend this hotel.

- Leena (6/5): - The staff throughout our entire stay was not very friendly. When we asked for the basic necessities, they would provide them, but they would look angry about doing so. The location of the hotel was good, close to the main train station and easy to walk to the city center. We didn’t spend much time in the hotel, so overall it was an okay stay. Don’t think I would come back though

- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice stay in Nice - We stayed in apartment style room and it was more than adequate for a family of four (the room actually had 1 queen and 3 twin beds). The hotel also offered a discount at the lobby restaurant where we had a delicious dinner.

Hotel room was really clean was quite small so having a balcony was a bonus. Be aware there is only one lift so if unable to climb stairs you may have a long wait. If returning to Nice I would stay at this hotel again.

- Brian (8/5): - Had great service and enjoyed the view from my 4th floor room. It’s great how close it is to the train station. My caution to American travelers is the shower space is pretty tight. I weight 72kg/159lbs and turned the shower off twice accidentally just bending down. Elevator is pretty old-fashioned, but works.

- Nicola (4/5): - The room was tiny and I had to climb over my partner to get in and out of bed. There was a strong smell of drains from the bathroom. We asked if we could have dinner in the restaurant and were told it was fully booked (it was completely empty at this time, 7.00pm). We went out and ate at a lovely fish restaurant down the road and when we returned to the hotel there were 3 tables occupied! Needless to say we didn’t bother having breakfast there!

- Max (6/5): - Guys, make no mistake - this is relatively cheap and quite run-down place. I have no idea how they got over 4,5 score. Three out of five is my score… and I’m not a fussy traveler. Excellent front desk service though! Oh, and the tram line to the city centre is great.

Staff were aloof, except the receptionist who helped me with transport advice and luggage storage. The lift is nano - 3 of us crammed in. Positives were the rooftop bar but has a strangely positioned hot tub. Everything spotlessly clean. Location is excellent with a tram stop just up the road going directly to Jean Médecin and Place Masséna and the train station just around the corner to travel the coast. Fantastic market directly outside and a children’s park across the road. Some bars and shops on the same street. I didn’t eat at the hotel but the small restaurant looked nice and there was plenty of seating in the indoor lounge. Good value for money.

There was 3 of us - 1 double and 1 twin bed. Small bathroom with a shower without a base or shower curtain so that the water went everywhere. Staff very helpful and friendly

Rooms are air conditioned which was a godsend when we arrived 2 hours late at 11.25pm and the temperature was still 26 degrees. Our room was extremely well presented, beds were very comfortable, and the USB socket was a bonus to charge our phones. , no charger required.

Such a great hotel nicely located in Nice, beautiful restaurant terrasse with a chill atmosphere and the best of it, the Roof Top patio to eat or drink watching the sunset on the city!!! If you want to elevate your experience, have your drink in the jacuzzi surrounded by all the guest :)

- Emily (8/5): - My experience at this hotel was quite nice. Although the rooms were very small. And the elevator was tiny. We were staying on the sixth floor. In the entire building there’s this one tiny elevator, which can fit 3 people max. But that’s normal from older buildings. The restaurant in the entrance is very nice, and the food isn’t bad at all. The rooftop bar and hot tub were underwhelming, super cramped. But a nice view of the city. Unrelated to the hotel itself, the city of Nice is extremely sketchy. Has the overall vibe that you’re gonna be yelled at or robbed at any moment. Probably avoid Nice itself and go to smaller towns around it.

- Verified traveler (8/5): Great location for explorer - Family trip to Nice. The hotel is situated in a perfect spot to explore the French Riviera. The hotel is by a tram stop and 7min walk from the train station. The hotel is on a shopping high street, so not the best of views.

- Gabriella (8/5): Perfect location & balcony - very small room - Fantastic location and a good breakfast, both hot and cold. We had a room with balcony facing the street - I strongly recommend a balcony, so relaxing in evenings and mornings! The room was very tiny, with room for one person, not two, moving around. The safe was placed with its back on the floor of the wardrobe. The wardrobe was also tiny, around 35-40 cm. No minibar and the cleaning staff forgot to put toilet paper in the bathroom. As a whole, I would come back, but my husband said ”never again”

- Maria Jose (8/5): Monsigny Nice - The hotel is well located, just 25 min walking to the pomenade des Anglais. The hotel has an elevator and they serve breakfast. Breakfast is good, has some varieties. The train station is very closed and the staff was really nice.

Nice balcony view of Main Street. Easy to get to the promenade with a 20 minute walk or take the tram in front. Very easy to get to train station to visit Monaco also.

We had a small twin room with comfy beds. Bathroom could have been a little cleaner. We didn’t eat at the hotel so can’t comment on food and bar.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Pricy but not bad - This hotel location is good but not very close to where all the action takes places. its a good 0.8-1 mile walk. However it is close to the main train station and bus stops/Trams. There is no complementary tea/coffee in the room which is odd for the price you pay. The room was spacious and clean. The hotel does not offer any laundry service but there is a laundromat close to the hotel.
- Eric (2/5): Big disappointment. Sub-par. - Oddly shaped room next to elevator was tiny and precipitated bumping into things. Location on 6th floor made it noisy from daily live music on 7th floor roof until midnight. Noise from the music disrupted reading and sleeping until it ended. Bathroom sink did not drain well. No ambiance, not even a picture on the wall. Breakfast was below average for extra fee breakfasts in France. Scrambled eggs were cold every day. Fresh fruit was not refilled for days. If a large tour group is there when you go to breakfast, you will wait a long time. Young staff, mostly foreign students, were nice and multilingual. I did not use the jacuzzi due to the loud music and hot daytime temperatures during my stay.

- Michael (2/5): - What a horrible experience!! I booked a room for 4 persons. The room was so tiny that we could barely place our luggage on the floor in order to access contents. The brown carpet was absolutely filthy dirty. The toilet was in a separate space from the shower and was tighter than a phone booth. The elevator was similarly inadequate fitting a maximum of 2 persons with luggage; heaven help those with any degree of claustrophobia! The facility is designed to squeeze guests for every nickel. If you want to use the jacuzzi on the roof, there is an a la cart charge of $10-$12 Euros per person. To top it off our entire miserable experience, when I shared my family's unhappiness with the front desk at checkout, the man behind the counter waited until I left the area and began to laugh out loud. He did not realize that my wife and kids were behind me and witnessed his entirely unprofessional and loathsome behavior. It felt like a stereotypical Hollywood movie based on how rude the French behave toward American tourists. Give us your money, Americans, while we treat you like @#!! We don't plan on returning to Nice any time soon. And, if we ever do, we will never ever return to the Hôtel Monsigny! )-:

I upgraded to a full room because the single room was a cubicle. The full room was respectable size. I didn't eat at the restaurant but it was consistently packed. I did have a drink on the roof where I was greeted immediately. I would have spent more time up there if my trip were longer. The electrical outlets went out once but the desk agent flipped the script. There could be some cosmetic updates and a larger elevator. But for the price and location, I would stay here again. Note- on Friday's there is a lovely farmers market right outside.
- Tan (8/5): - A good hotel located right near the Libération Tram station. There are many restaurants nearby and it’s a short walk (5 minute or one tram stop) to Gare Thiers where we catch a train to other parts of the coastal areas. The breakfast spread is generous with scrambled egg, bacons and sausages. The room is quiet and clean. There’s enough space for two luggage. The rooftop area is nice for an afternoon drinks. The room has slight cigarette smell or some kind of musty smell. We just opened the windows to air it out for a few minutes everyday.

The staff were really friendly, view from balcony amazing, food delicious and perfectly placed for train as only a 5 minute walk. Only 15/20 minute walk to old Nice. Would recommend and would definitely stay again.
- Phoebe (10/5): Great hotel - perfect location - I stayed one night. The room was clean and had all the basics. The bathroom is a bit tight but the shower is pretty large. The location is awesome - right on the tram line and just a short walk to the train station. There are lots of restaurants and patisseries nearby and the beach is just about a 10-15 minute walk from the hotel. The restaurant at the hotel is very good too. I would definitely stay here again!

- Jane (8/5): - We stayed here 2 years ago and enjoyed the stay. The staff on reception are excellent. On this occasion our room smelled of sewage so we were moved to another room the next day. The restaurant linked to the hotel had a few issues with the food , not warm enough , a long wait for a menu or any attention , but improved once we made some observations to this effect. The location is good , right on the tram line with easy access to the beach and the old town and restaurants. The hotel is in need of some investment to make sure things work in the room such as the safe, the light switches and the air con which was very weak and the room was too hot to sleep at times , too noisy to open the window at night being right on the street.

The bathroom was also small. Staff very helpful when asked and provided us with a kettle which was great. Bus to airport €1.5 each and stopped close to hotel compared to transport which was €45

- Verified traveler (10/5): Definitely worth it - I thought staying here was thouroughly enjoyable. The staff at the reception desk has been helpful through my trip from pointing out on map interesting spots to see, to contact tour operators on your behalf, to even offering to help you buy a bus ticket when French isn't your first language. The wait staff at the restaurant has been super helpful too in translating the menu to letting you vacate your table to go to your room for a minute for something that's been forgotten. Though not needed, the tram was right outside. I wish that it was closer to the Promenade De Anglais. But overall, it's been a nice stay in Nice thanks to the staff members.

Two tram stops to Massena place. Breakfast is good but not many options for eating to choice. The one disadventage is a difficult to find a entrance to the hotel. - MarkandConnie (10/5): - Great location. Right on the Tram which turned out to be terrific. Also, the farmer’s market was wonderful and right outside our door. We were also away from the old town which is fascinating but noisy late at night so we were a five minute tram to the heart of the action and five minute tram back to a quiet hotel that facilitated sleep. The staff were so kind and helpful. It was also affordable. The room was small but we were rarely in it so it didn’t matter to us. We assumed mediocre food at the hotel which turned out to be a mistake. We would eat there more next time. Rooftop bar was nice and the wait staff were capable although they had a flare for being purposefully inattentive...a French hobby at times. We would definitely stay again.
- Ernesto (8/5): Chic and nice - The hotel is super chic, but they put me in a room with 3 beds, 2 of the beds being in a bunk bed style. Also, you can’t bill anything to the room, which was annoying. It’s like each part of the hotel was it’s own business. The front desk was really nice and the location is excellent. I actually ended up staying next to the beach at another hotel and I enjoyed the location of this one more because it felt more local.

- Verified traveler (8/5): - The bathrooms were an issue - they were extremely tiny...I’m very petite and still had to come up with a maneuvering system to get in and out. Additionally, the bathroom gets away with a lot because the walls and floors are marble (I think?) but they have clearly never been scrubbed. Our shower was yellow (gross!) and there was mildew all over the bathroom. Also, the cleaner left the unscreened window open for whatever reason, inviting flies into the room. Also, the cleaner neglected to replace toilet paper, leaving us with none!
- Verified traveler (4/5): Tiny box like rooms - The hotel is located far from the main activities in Nice (promenade, old city etc) and the area at night is a bit sketchy. The rooms are tiny and very basic. It was hard to unpack the luggage due to lack of space. The bathroom in the reception area was DISGUSTING, you can obviously see they do not keep good hygiene practices, so I can only imagine what the kitchen looks like. The lobby smells of cigarette smoke that comes in from the restaurant, and this is then also felt on the floors (due to air circulation). We stayed at another hotel at NIce for the same price and got so much more. Would not recommend this hotel.

- Gali (10/5): Trip to Nice - My Fiance and I went to Nice for a 5 day visit. I was recommended Hotel Monsigny by a friend of mine. The hotel is great. It is located on Avenue Jean Médecin about a 10 - 15 minute walk from the Promenade des Anglais. Really convenient for getting around. The train station to Monaco is approximately a 6 minute walk from the hotel. The rooms are clean and tidy. The bathroom is a little small but sufficient for the length of our staf (5 days). On arrival we were given the option of the normal room or the room with balcony, I would recommend the room without the balcony as it is significantly smaller (comes down to preference - ask to see both and then decide) The staff are extremely helpful, friendly and always willing to help. Breakfast at the hotel - we specifically excluded it from our stay. We did have breakfast one morning and it was ok, could be better. However, there are a number of a very good places in Nice that are within walking distance from the Hotel which I would rather recommend.
- nicholas (10/5): Very good a for Monaco GP hotel - Well recommended for those wanting a place to to sleep for the Monaco Grand Prix. Great location for the trains station, very good service in the bar/restaurant and the rooftop bar is worth the stay alone.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Very average hotel with poor service. - Average hotel with below average service. The hotel is nice enough, rooms are small and the AC is either freezing cold or off. The roof top is a rip off so don't even bother there and you cannot even get a coffee when the restaurant is open unless you accept a 100% price hike. Being a resident is meaningless and we felt as if we were actually an inconvenience to them. I would think there are much better, and definitely cheaper, options in a city such as Nice.

- G (8/5): Excellent city break - Monsigny provided us with an up to date, comfortable room that was well maintained, spotlessly clean, and well sound insulated. Whilst there was no hospitality tray provided in the room, they are available on request from reception. The restaurant whilst pleasant and not overly expensive the menu did not cater for those requiring a gluten free diet
