Guest Reviews
- paulcostas (10/5): Lovely hotel. - Great few nights in a balcony room. Very comfortable. The lift never works, so not good for mobility impaired customers. There are rooms on ground floor, but the street outside is very noisy up til very late (2am).
- MickJac (10/5): Total Recommendation - What a place. Stunning throughout, the room was fantastic, clean and tidy, couldn't ask for more, the position of the hotel on the front and close to theatres was a real bonus. We have to state this was such a friendly place. All staff and we mean all staff went over and above to ensure everyone had a really pleasant stay. We cannot fault anything at all. The food was really tasty and they catered for different dietary needs without any fuss. We must go back to the staff, they were fantastic and it shows the importance that the management has for guests as this is mirrored in the attitude of the staff. Total recommendation, we will be returning soon.
- Taiwo (4/5): -
- Amanda (5/5): Sm - Nice location Booked sea view, window was smeared and couldn’t see a thing so was ‘upgraded’ to room below
Stank of smoke, couple next door talking loudly and smoking til gone 2am
Told reception next day who registered knowing about them :( Why?!
- Sanaa (10/5): - Everything not one complaint Can’t complain about anything, looking forward to visiting again after the renovations.
- Bethan (10/5): Great location - The hotel is in a perfect location, 5 minutes from the town centre, 10 minutes from the train station and right on the sea front. The room itself was comfortable, the staff were friendly, and despite it being on the sea front and main road, it was quiet. the hotel does need the halls to be redecorated and a working lift as it’s not accessible for those with mobility issues
- Simon (4/5): -
- Colin (6/5): - Staff were very friendly and the breakfast was excellent Like most seaside hotels is decor is tired. The shower door had dropped and was not closing properly, flooding the bathroom floor. I would never normally come here as I live in Suffolk. It was the nearest venue to see Graham Nash. The show was wonderful, but Hastings is very run down and scruffy
the hotel was reasonabley priced and close to the theatre, so suited my needs
- Siobhan (8/5): Really enjoyable. The staff were a big part of this. - Good view of sea, lovely bathroom, fabulous staff. Location good. Very nice breakfast, fresh and delicious. Didn't think about steep stairs to third floor and no lift ! But we did actually change to a room on the second floor.
There was a small step to get into the bathroom, with a sign, mind the step. I saw the sign as I grazed my foot on the step. My husband hurt his toe on it when going to the bathroom at night. The lovely receptionist was able to provide an abundance of plasters.
The TV was troublesome; the wifi seemed to stop and we couldn't watch the end of our programme.
- Ray (9/5): Will stay again - Clean and just what I needed for a quick stay. Staff were friendly and helpful. Booking on the app was quick and easy
- Kim (9/5): very nice. been going there since 2012, - every thing was ok. Get the Lift working.

- Shirley (10/5): -
- Sylwia (7/5): -
- Alan (8/5): It was ok - It was cheap and clean it can't complain The only bit that wasn't good was the tv worked but really had no areial so couldn't watch anything
- Craig (7/5): - Room was comfortable with a unsuit The floors where out of level but what do you expect I'm in Hastings where they have a lot of hills and it's a old building
- Georgia (7/5): -
- Xin Na (8/5): - Room had a beautiful view of the sea, the hotel was super quiet (probably as I stayed in off season), friendly staff that let me store my bags there after check out, not far from the train station There was a little door outside the room and when the lights weren't on, it was a little eerie. Light on top of the bed didn't work and the fan in the kitchen was noisy. Furnishings were a little old/used.
- Abdulkadir (6/5): Fair - NA The room was not well lit , it was too dark
- Anabel (9/5): -
- Victoria (9/5): - Sea view
Good layout of room New bulbs needed
- Victoria (9/5): - Seaview
- Michael (7/5): -
- Ann (7/5): -
- Chris (7/5): Scruffy but room was clean and nice sea views - Location for my needs General appearance could do with some tlc
- carole (8/5): - Very central location.Staff polite Very clean and comfortable room.Comfy bed .Nice and quiet. Bathroom recently updated although small .The sink was way too big for such a little room .I'm only 5 foot tall and average build and I struggled to sit on the toilet.Lovely new shower but problem with the cold water and it nearly scolded me .I did report this on leaving and they were quick to get it sorted.Otherwise spotlessly Clean.

- Peirce (9/5): -
- Karen (9/5): Staff very helpful ❤️ - Good location near to everything The bed was a bit lumpy
- Sam (3/5): - Unbelievably cheap, fine for a one-night stay, or for just a bed for the night. No life access and lots of stairs to some rooms. The bed wasn't made properly and other decor needed cleaning.
- Steven (6/5): -
- Naomi (10/5): - Very good location, near sea and train station.
- Matthews (3/5): -
- Darren (7/5): - Nice size bed Shower head was not working properly
- Julianne (8/5): Can’t wait to see the newly refurbed hotel in the new year. - Location is ideal. Clean, comfortable and great value for money. Not a dislike but it’s looking a little tired but is closed for refurbishment in a couple of weeks.
- Michael (1/5): - Nothing Felt insecure
- Thomas (8/5): - Well located and good value. The staff are wonderful - I lost my watch and they made their best efforts to help me find it. The hotel is undergoing renovation over the coming year but I’ll be coming back after that!

- VIV (8/5): Great location; staff wonderful - View of the ocean Really run down; globes missing from bedside, and toilet paper had no holder. Carpets were dirty.
- Will (7/5): Good for a night 😊 - Friendly welcome from the guy on reception.
Comfortable bed. Nice view of the sea front. Proximity to the sea and town/train station. Wifi didn't work.
Front door of the building was broken and hanging off.
Shower got very hot and was a struggle to make it cooler.
- Patrick (4/5): - Telly glitchy, bed uncomfortable
- Julia (3/5): I did not have high expectation as the price was low but the place could be brightened up bit.. - Location The light in my room in ceiling had 5 bulbs - only 2 were working. Nobody ever at reception to tell. I have photos. room 12
I thought the booking.com description mentioned a fridge in room?? no fridge,
Booking.com offered room only.
when i arrived i saw room signed "breakfast room" - Did this exist? was breakfast available.? Nobody mentioned it... only saw one member of stafff - the one who checked me in. Young man - pleasant but seemed bored,
- Stuart (9/5): -
- Gvl (5/5): -
- Alexandrou (2/5): - That most uncomfortable single mattress I have ever encountered. Not a functioning spring in it!
- margotn916 (2/5): Very poor. - Lift was out of order. Room was poorly decorated, pillows were like sacks of potatoes . Toilet cistern was cracked, several floor tiles were broken & uneven. Only one chair for 2 people. Toilet wasn’t properly cleaned & mugs not washed. It needs a total refurb. Worse stay ever.
- Jacqueline (6/5): - View of the sea. Too many steps to our room
- Mat (10/5): -
- Nadia (7/5): - Location The bed: very uncomfortable:
The bathroom: very narrow
- Linda (2/5): Will definitely not stay here again poor ! - Comfy bed only ! Handle broken on door . Light broken in bathroom. No thermastat on radiator . No glass . Miserable single room
- Daniel (10/5): -
- Searle (7/5): - Great location, helpful staff, good price Bathroom could do with a bit of tlc
- Matthew (7/5): Value for money and overall a pleasant experience - Good location. Very reasonably priced. Clean and comfortable. Overhead bed light didn’t work and I could the next room’s TV.
- Kay Sik (7/5): Great Potential for Improvement - Closed to the town centre, many restaurants nearby. There are several steep steps at the entrance to the hotel. There was no lift and the staircase was narrow and steep.
The hostel and the room was tired. The furniture were worn-out and paint peeled off from doors.
The toilet cistern was not working properly, needed to press the lever a number of times for a proper flush.
- Siobhan (8/5): -
- Wendy (10/5): Visiting friends so easy access to all round areas - Absolutely lovely owners and staff very helpful brilliant stay .
Definitely stay again x
- Andrea (1/5): Poor choice - Hot water Chair blocked wardrobe, wardrobe blocked tv
TV remote was filthy
Balcony door didn't close properly
shower coming off wall and tray was blocked so as I showered it filled up so had to end shower abruptly. Bed was like a child's bed..mattress had no support
Had to kick up a fuss to move room and room was better but bathroonm smelled!
- Jan (7/5): Enjoyable - Convenient location It was fine
- Kim (5/5): - Location Run down interior
4th floor room with tight staircase and no lift
- Richard (7/5): -
- Peter (10/5): I would happily stay again - The place was vey clean
- jeroen (8/5): - Mooie locatie en goede kamer. 4th floor without lift. And very small bathroom.
- Stephen (7/5): Budget but satisfactory - Locatiin Bed
- Kalinski (4/5): - Nothing Paint peeling off walls in bathroom, bed was broken, carpet was a mess and toilet did not flush properly
- Nicholas (8/5): -
- Rawlings (8/5): -
- Lucy (6/5): -
- Felicitas (5/5): -
- 萬欽Wanchin (8/5): -
- Domonique (10/5): Short but sweet - This was our 3rd time staying here and it was lovely as usual. Great location and room 11 with the balcony is the best!
- Rob (1/5): -
- Charlotte (7/5): Enjoyable - Room view lovely great sea view Sea view
- Emma (5/5): -
- Alan (9/5): Good hotel and location - Convenient for the train station. It was very clean and the room was perfect for my needs.
Nice balcony with view over the sea. Minor criticism was the balcony door was a little hard to open, and light above bed didn't work.
- Sally (5/5): - The rooms were very private. Shower door didn’t stay closed. Very bony bed. Had a power cut one of the morning
- Jaci (9/5): Great staff and on the seafront - Great staff and location on the seafront
- Youles (10/5): -
- Daniel (7/5): -
- Peter (7/5): - Breakfast not good! Need more hot.
- Macqueen (8/5): Suited for our needs - Location very good for theatre and town No lift to 4th floor
Loads of stairs . Closing soon for works
Out room was nice but decor on landings reds updating
- Guy (10/5): - Our room was clean, freshly decorated, and well equipped. The bed was very comfortable, while the en-suite was larger than usual and fitted with a user-friendly shower. The sea view was outstanding. The Lansdowne is very conveniently located for all of Hastings' seafront attractions and the shopping and eating outlets in the centre of town. Nothing in the room, everything was as good as, or better than, expected. The only minor issue was that the carpet on the communal staircase could do with replacing in the not too distant future.
- R M Asif (7/5): -
- mike (8/5): One night stay - Friendly owner and staff Waiting on the refurbishment plans to happen
- Richard (8/5): Would stay there again. - The price. Close to the shops and beach. No lift. Had to walk up to the 4th floor.
- Griffen (6/5): -
- Hans (4/5): Wish I booked somewhere else - The sea view from our room on the 4th floor was great. Also the location was also great. Lift not working, so it's many stairs to navigate to reach the 4th floor. I can not recommended staying there now, as it's desperately needs a major refurb, before it's suitable as a hotel.
- Darren (6/5): -
- Darja Anna (9/5): - Nice , clean comfortable room. I was struggling with the shower and 4 flour with plenty of stairs and I'm a bit of a struggle with directions but for that price I think I get the best that I can and I really like the view from the window. And that kind of problem I met because I'm not really smart in some basic stuff:/
- Stephen (1/5): Rude, cold, noisy - The location The bathroom was tiny and Impractical
It was stone cold as the heating was off
Duvet was thin and useless
Back room we as very noisy with drunken people in the street, and then bin men emptied huge bins directly outside the window.
After complaining the receptionist told me I should have spent more money!!!
It was £56 last minute deal on booking, com
There was no option to spend more...
- James (7/5): -
- Gizelle Jay (8/5): It was good. - The room was clean, and we got one with the sea view which is a plus point. The receptionist was very nice and accomodating too. It would have been better if there was at least a small fridge in the room. And not so sure what the guests on the third floor were doing as we were hearing loud footsteps from around 11pm until around 2am which kind of annoyed us at one point. Would have helped if the rooms were soundproof.
