• The (5/5): Customer has no other option! Force to accept the deal! - The only “hotel” in Dien Bien Phụ, no other option! “Monopoly business”… Staffs behaviour! We reached early in the morning at around 6.30am, at that time there are many guests checking out, we were so tired after a long journey bus taken, so we would like to request check in earlier and willing to pay more. Initially the first receptionist who serving us told us our room is ready and should be no problem, but don’t know why after an eye contact with the other receptionist beside her, then situation changed! The other receptionist told us no room available for early check in but there is one room left and we need to top up another around VND1,600,000, total VND2,800,000+ for the room! After a quick argument with the receptionist , we insisted to keep the remaining room we booked and asked the team to inform housekeeping to clean the room immediately for us to check in early with additional charge of VND700,000 instead of VND1,600,000. After around 15mins, the room was ready and when we entered the room, we felt that the room is not just cleaned few minutes ago, the toilet was very dry and the room has no chemicals cleaning smell at all! Breakfast buffet is not good! 8am stop replenishing, drinks served were tasteless, too little foods selection!

• Gary (8/5): Really pleasant stay in a nice hotel with great staff - Big comfy rooms and very helpful staff, especially Mrs Triang. Ideal base for exploring historic sites, especially Beatrice, which is walking distance. Other places need taxi but these are cheap. They sorted us a car for the day, transport to Son La and recommended a great Black Thai restaurant. It’s a chain hotel so some may see it as charmless, but it’s the people that count and they are lovely.

• Peter (8/5): Modern hotel with excellent standards - A large modern hotel. Better than most similar hotels in Europe/US etc. Our plans had to change and the staff were very accommodating. They were efficient with all requests for help. The breakfast bar is comprehensive. 100% would stay again. There was a large and loud public big screen outside our apartment, but this was temporary and is not the hotel's fault. Nor will it matter if you are reading this, it was for a public event. There were some minor misunderstandings due to language. Again, nothing at all serious. I wish the breakfast bar was open a little longer (closes at 9).
• Ho (6/5): Lower standard than other Muong Thanh locations - This hotel was better than others in DBP. This hotel did not meet the standards of other Muong Thanh that I had stayed in Việt Nam. It was not as clean and the breakfast was disappointing. There was some sort of festival during my stay and all rooms were booked. We came to breakfast at 7:00 am and a lot of the dishes were already empty. The staff did not replenish these items.

We got upgraded to a beautiful huge room with modern living space.😍 The perfect place to relax for a few days. Breakfast was also delicious, fresh eggs & Pho as well as a buffet. • Thaotpham (8/5): Newly renovated hotel in city center, very clean and spacious helpful staffs. - The room seems to be newly renovated, so everything is new and clean, and very spacious. Staffs are friendly and helpful. Central location and easy to get a taxi quickly. My bed is quite uncomfortable to sleep in, feels like the mattress is old and the springs don't work anymore. The room is not soundproof and I get woken up by the same lady every night. Buffet breakfast has lots of variation but is only average for my taste.

I ordered the carbonara and didn’t realize I had to specify the type of pasta. I was served just the sauce (strange they would think this is what I wanted for dinner). Definitely some language barriers. Room was great, we got a corner room with an abundance of windows. It was a nice surprise.

The service in the restaurant was poor and local lads kept coming in and out of the kitchen. The range of breakfast food was very narrow. The bedroom carpet was very dirty. I imagine that it has seen better days.

There were people smoking in the hall and the staff didn't help me doing a bus booking, so there wasn't any tourist desk! The pool is in the car parking (in fact nobody used it!).
