Guest Reviews
- Jeremy (10/5): - Fantastic room, v clean and modern, spotlessly maintained, staff very friendly and helpful, well situated and convenient for driving and walking! Definitely recommend and will definitely stay again!
- Philip (10/5): - Had a great time in Armagh for the weekend
- alan (10/5): - Nice friendly place ,good breakfast.
- Jim (10/5): - The staff made me feel at home ,
- Pat (6/5): - Unfortunately our room was cold in the evening and even though we let the staff know nothing was done. Our room keys didn't work the next morning but they were quickly repaced nlby the receptionist. Hotel is showing its age but is in a great location particularly when travelling by bus. Breakfast was good - at £149 for a twin room a bit expensive but I appreciate it was the Georgian Festival weekend.
- Margaret (10/5): - We had a brilliant weekend and we were looked after very well by all the staff we will definitely be returning and highly recommend the hotel for great stay..
- Mark (6/5): - Likes
The hotel was well located in the centre of Armagh. The staff were friendly and helpful. There was free secure parking on site. The room was adequate and the bed was comfortable.
Dislikes.
The hotel was very rundown and it needs a lot of money spent on it. It was advertised as having a lift but it was out of order which was a pain as we were on the 2nd floor. The towels supplied in the ensuite were on the small side and there were a number of cracked tiles.
- Gráinne (10/5): Good overnights stay - Family-run hotel with comfortable rooms
- Verified traveler (8/5): Friendly but overwhelmed - Friendly welcome Hotel was very busy due to bus trip and we had a long wait for our meal. We were told there would be a delay of half an hour but it was an hour before we got our meal. We are sure service would be better when quiet but surely they could have prepared a couple of meals and slowed down the service to the bus party
- Brooke (6/5): - Parking available in the back. No (working) lift and lots of stairs. The restaurant was full during mealtimes, which appeared to be mostly locals. The food was filling and the waitstaff were friendly. I did get questioned more than once by staff (same woman both times) as to what my business was on their property. On the one hand it was good they were making sure people belonged there but on the otherhand it was off-putting as I was treated like I was trespassing.
- Ethan (8/5): - Was good
- Jennifer (8/5): - Perfect for our stay in Armagh, could walk everywhere, safe parking on premises, friendly, helpful staff, thank you
- Stephen (6/5): - Very dated
- Timothy (10/5): Stay here, it’s great - Lovely staff, large rooms, comfortable and clean beds, great atmosphere in a fantastic location within walking distance of all the sites. I’d happily stay there again, although the great atmosphere does mean it’s a bit dated, there are lots of stairs and the elevator wasn’t working when I was there. Food was great and lots of restaurants are close by, the breakfast will keep you going and there are vegetarian options. If you have not visited Armagh, seat of both the Catholic and Church of Ireland bishops, each with an amazing cathedral, not to mention the Armagh Observatory, it is a must visit location in beautiful Northern Ireland.
- Pat (8/5): Excellent location for visit to Armagh - Hotel is ideally situated for a visit to Armagh - everything is in easy walking distance and staff reallt friendly and helpful
- Patrick (10/5): - The hotel is conveniently situated near the city centre with comfortable rooms and friendly staff. The breakfast is excellent.
- Susan (8/5): - Characterful hotel, comfortable beds, intimate bar and excellent friendly staff and service
- Bridget (8/5): Fantastic staff - Members of staff fantastic
Only problem rooms incredibly hot , extremely uncomfortable
- PATRICK GERARD (6/5): - Too many stairs
- Sheila (8/5): Overnight stay. - Hotel was well located, friendly and very attentive. Only negative was the room was chilly and asked for heat to be put on, did not work so they left us a blow heater. Other than that lovely food and room was very comfortable. Would stay again.
- Valerie (10/5): Armagh break - On entering hotel we were greated with a very warm welcome, even the fact that i called hotel to say i was a bit lost, a lovely lady came out and waved so we could see her, rooms were neat and tidy, staff very friendly and even secured a table for us for evening meal, breakfast was great, first time to stay but would stay again 5 stars from us
- Ryan (8/5): - Fantastic breakfast and very good staff. One of our rooms had been recently renovated which was nice and clean.
- JACK (10/5): Charlemont Arms Hotel Armagh. - were welcomed with a very friendly owner who actually took our bags to our rook.
Service at the bar was very friendly the food was excellent.
- Paul (8/5): Hotel With Soul - Comfortable room, bright bathroom. Staff exemplary. Roast dinner first class. Would definitely return.
- Andrea (8/5): - Great. Would go back.
- Muriel (6/5): - The staff were lovely & extremely polite. The room was clean & spacious but unfortunately the noise at night from the street meant no sleep. Breakfast was basic but adequate. They struggled to serve breakfast on our last day ,felt sorry for the staff who tried their best ,no explanation given.
- Anna (8/5): - Friendly, helpful staff. Massive bedrooms, convenient parking. However the building is very old and dated.
- William (10/5): Very friendly place - Lovely small & friendly hotel. I was going to a wedding in Castle Leslie & the receptionist sorted out my bow tie. Staff at breakfast also friendly. Overall a nice experience.
- Siobhan (10/5): - Rooms where big and spacious. Staff couldn’t have been better, very helpful, accommodating and so friendly. Nothing was any bother to them.
- Michael (10/5): Wonderful !!!! - Owners and staff go above and beyond . . . Great breakfast, great bar, great lunch and dinner options . . . Could not have picked a better place to start our trip in Northern Ireland
- kevin (10/5): Great for a quiet break - Great staff and food room clean and comfortable 5 star
- Padraig (8/5): Armagh trip - Stayed at charlemount hotel check in smooth and receptionist very good friendly and helpful room clean and nice pillows on bed quiet hard
Breakfast nice and staff friendly and pleasant efficient
- andy (8/5): Friendly welcome - Very friendly welcome at reception and the food was decent in the evening and morning and was served with a smile. Room was spacious and had everything I needed although I was woken early at 5.45 by the extractor fans being switched on in the kitchen, I was in room 102 and my colleague 101 so be aware if you get these rooms
- John mc (6/5): - Breakfast was poor Ordered 2 full breakfasts It was 2 slices of bacon 2 sausages 1/4 potato bread 1/4 soda bread an fried egg Have been in many hotel an this was the worst breakfast I have come across
- Neill (10/5): Old Hotel plenty of charm close to centre - Great sized room, excellent breakfast and lovely meals. The staff were very friendly and couldn’t do enough for us during our stay. Great place to stay if you have young children or babies as they are also very well catered for. Hotel is very close to Armagh centre.
- John (8/5): Good time - A fine and well run establishment.
- Derek (4/5): Poor room - There was someones eleses dirty underware left in our room when we checked in. Yhere was no towels left to shoeer and there was a black scum all round the bath. Was very disapointed with the room.
- Màirín (8/5): - The staff are excellent, service efficient. Hotel itself dated and tired.
- Saman (10/5): - Very nice good and friendly staff members
- Charlene (6/5): - Definitely not what I expected, the bathroom needed significant updating. The shower stall was very tiny, along with the whole bathroom. Above a bat and was not aware of that, very loud. Not worth the money paid.
- Margaret (10/5): - Enjoyed an overnight stay at the Charlemont Arms. Friendly & helpful staff from the first to last minutes there. I had a spacious room with a bath. The Indian restaurant just a minutes walk up the street was excellent. My quiet night’s sleep in a very comfortable bed was followed by a cooked to order breakfast - high passing my poached eggs scale with high marks!!
- Michael (6/5): Good staff - Staff very friendly and helpful, the hotel needs some work. Showers are not working properly, the toilet pan in room 205 was loose and wobbly.
I am disabled and was not too happy about being on the third floor while the lift apparently has been out of order for some time.
Breakfast was acceptable, but for some reason the rest of my party were offered beans with their full breakfast and I was not.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Not value for money. - The whole hotel needs a makeover. Everything looks very “tired”; the lift has not worked since last summer although it’s top of their priority list (& we had 2 large suitcases to drag up 5 flights of stairs!!)
Two lights in our bedroom weren’t working.
It is not value for money👎
However we had a nice enough meal in the bar area.
- Rose (8/5): - Great location free parking was great breakfast lovely friendly staff
- Marsha (10/5): - We had a lovely stay at the charlemont arms hotel friendly staff & great food & service,Definetely will return,
- Gemma (10/5): - Myself and partner really enjoyed our stay at
The Charlemont we couldn’t ask for a better stay all staff were very friendly, welcoming and really helpful.
Rooms very big.
Beds are comfy.
Fantastic food and excellent service
100% be staying here in May 2022.
- Brian (10/5): - An excellent experience.
- Anna (10/5): Anna - Hotel was lovely very clean and comfortable, lift was not in use though, looked after by Majella so friendly food was so good
- Joanne (10/5): - I loved the history of the property -- much prefer an older building with a history to a new impersonal one. It was centrally located with off street parking and a very friendly helpful staff
- Maeve (8/5): - Staff were really nice and accommodating. Not a modern hotel but had a pleasant stay
- Andrew (10/5): - Myself and my partner enjoyed our two night stay, and were made feel very welcome. Nothing was too much trouble. I would definitely consider going back in the future.
- John (10/5): - Lovely hotel, clean and comfortable room, excellent breakfast, friendly staff. Highly recommended
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice big rooms clean staff was lovely food was nice
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely clean big bedroom
- Verified traveler (4/5): Very Disappointing - Bathroom in poor condition. Tiles loose and cracked on floor and wall. Phone to reception was plugged out with the wire lying beside it. Tv remote did not work. Lipstick marks on cups. Nobody at reception when we checked in or out
- Gemma (10/5): Amazing - All staff were amazing and looked after us from the moment we walked into the hotel 😀.
We will 100% be staying again
- marty (4/5): - Property was extremly dated. Bathroom was dirty. One staff member had a face on her like a slapped fish and was veru unpleasant. I wpuld avoid this place at all costs.
The gentle.and who checked us out and made breakfast was very pleasant and gone is job very well
- Angela (6/5): Family funeral - We stayed in the charlemont after a family funeral we found the hotel dated could with updating but found the staff lovely there was a young girl sorry can't remember her name she was so helpful we had food and drinks which was outstanding gorgeous would definitely eat there again
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely hotel with friendly, helpful staff. Bedroom was very comfortable and good old fashioned breakfast. Location handy to all sites of interest in the city.
- JACK (8/5): SHAKE A LEG - SHAKING OFF CABIN FEVER
- Mark (10/5): - Excellent service and really enjoyable stay
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Hotel very convenient for all amenities. Staff very friendly and nothing too much trouble.
Hotel dated and tired needs updating
Car park just to rear of hotel
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Very poor service for breakfast only 1member of staff on and at least 16 persons waiting
- Dale (8/5): - We arrived very early in the morning. They had us in our rm by 11:30 am. The lift is -I believe- permanently out of order. They gave us a rm on the third floor which my husband would have not been able to do. They then gave us a rm on the first floor. Considering how early we checked in they were extremely accommodating. I requested extra creamers in our rm for our tea and coffee and again they gave us with no issues. We had great breakfasts and a couple of great dinners. Warm, friendly atmosphere. The staff were fabulous. I will say if one has mobility issues it would not be a good choice. I would stay here again. Slightly dated but filled our needs completely.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I picked all hotels for convenience, lifts, and wi-fi. When we checked in we found out the elevator was broken and they had to wait for someone from Germany to come fix it. I’m recovering from knee surgery so they moved us from 3rd floor to 2nd and helped with luggage. Room was comfortabley large but very well used. Staff was all great!
- Patricia (6/5): Great staff - Liked the size of the room. Liked the bar in the evening. The staff was wonderful. Place was a bit run down.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Unsatisfied - Very disapointed with my stay at this hotel. Place is very dated. Sockets in room not working. Mattress extremly uncomfortable. Green emergency fire excape light, lit up whole room. Breakfast unsatisfactory. No choice, never heard of Soya/ Almond milk. Parking at rear of hotel very cramped.
- Joan (10/5): Great Location - Lovely homely hotel, clean comfortable rooms and the staff were very friendly and helpful, nothing was too much bother for them. In a great area for exploring. Would definitely stay again.
- Jane (10/5): - A very friendly family run hotel. Nothing was any bother for them.
- Shuji (10/5): - The room is clean and simple. It must be the most spacious room where I have stayed alone. Only fly in the ointment is there are no bed-side or desk-side lamps.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The property is in the centre of town near the bus station.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The rooms above this pub are luxurious.
The pub itself has, in my opinion, limited food, limited breakfast.
Parking good once we found the way in (long journey, was tired).
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Made feel welcome was a lovely night wud definitely stay again x
- TAC (6/5): - Neighborhood is too noosuvand rowdy.
Last morning there didn't have hot water.
Staff was amazing and great.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location, great bars and food. Staff very welcoming.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Starf very nice place very clean good food ill be very happy cone bk and stay in the property
