Lovely, lush setting, minimum amount of 10 rooms making it an intimate, boutique hotel. Exceptionally clean, and the staff are very attentive and friendly. The water pressure in the shower is not great.

There are lots of rooms but the atmosphere is so calm. The staff is very friendly and polite. The swimming pool under the trees has ben a unique place. Today it is not really clean

• vinkog25 (6/5): Nothing special - We stayed at the hotel 10 nights and did not receive any discounts, no additional service ... The hotel is decent but apart from the wonderful pool there is no other content. Bedding and towels are dirty, full of flecks, gray and lost in white. Breakfast is monotonous and small. If you want to have a glass of juice more than one in the breakfast, you have to pay it at the restaurant price. Staff are strictly and inflexible, so you do not have the impression of staying in a small intimate hotel. All in all, nothing special.
• Kimchiyou (10/5): Will happily stay again - My criteria for a hotel: it needs to be quiet, clean, doesn’t smell like cigarette. On this Uma Karan passed on every level. I emailled to ask for a quiet room, so they gave me the most inner room with least foot traffic, perfect. I can hear dogs barking at night but it’s far away enough that doesn’t bother me, and I’m a light sleeper. I didn’t hear any of the other guests, I think there was only one other room filled, they did use the pool in the morning, but was pretty respectful with keeping the noise down. The villa itself is located not on the crazy Seminyak scene, it’s tucked away with very little car traffic, so it’s super quiet, but at the same time close enough to travel to Seminyak centre with grab car for max $2. The staff were all so lovely and helpful. We ordered delivery food from outside a few times, the staff happily provided us with plates and cutlery. I quite liked the setup inside, the decor was nice, the hot water was hot, everything was clean. I do agree with other reviewers that the linen is a bit tired, but never dirty. For the price you pay, it can’t get any better than this at Seminyak. Would happily stay again.
• Connector290187 (6/5): So so - The pool and plants are quite pretty. The rooms are quite close to each other, so honestly i didnt like that very much. If you open the window or door, anyone passed by can see what you are doing inside the room. Or else, you have to keep the curtain out all the time. The lighting system inside was quite confusing, we werent able to figure out how to turn on the lights in the bathroom the first night we were there ( or maybe im so bad at it??). The shower doesnt have full glass door, so the water got out to the bathroom and eventually ran out to the sleeping room. I agree with other reviews that the room is quite spacious. Beware that the electrical socket is Indonesian style so make sure you bring the converter ( or you can buy one at the reception desk). People there are very nice and we enjoyed all the plants they have there. The place is in a villa compound and not too far from main road.

• Ozmurt (8/5): Beautiful setting - Very lovely place to stay. Quiet only 10 rooms, the pool is in a gorgeous setting very sheltered. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is a choice from the menu that you order the night before. No buffet style. This place is between a villa and B & B. Not for children better suit adults. It’s close to everything but far enough away from the craziness. Only negative is the linen is a bit tired but your not staying in5 star. Everything is clean I would definitely stay again.
• debra (8/5): Give it a try - Lovely little hotel with very accommodating staff. The gorgeous pool is just outside your door and large enough to do laps. The sheets and towels are in need of replacing, but the rooms are generously proportioned. A variety of breakfast options are available, but there is no variation in what is offered.... however, a trip to the local supermarket to buy a selection of fruit fixes the problem and the staff keep it and serve it to you. A quiet location, no children, quiet street but with restaurants and spas close by. For the price, I would stay here again.

• hanisharaf (8/5): Great value for money - We visited Seminyak in July 2018 (me, my wife and our little 4 yr old boy).. we found Uma Karan in Airbnb and decided to stay at it. Very convenient, close to down town (10 min taxi and 20 min walking), the staff were very helpful and nice. We enjoyed the pool as well. The breakfast was decent comparing to resorts quality with 4-5 options you can choose from including continental and western or Indonesian breakfasts! Big size room with bathrooom and a mini fridge and a safe. The mattress was a bit old and not atraight! The room’s door is not tightly closed so insects were able to crawl under the door and into the room.

The linen is never changed, the blanket linen has alot of stain spots. I asked them to change and I came back with the same one. Gods know what spots is that. They change the inner but. Not the outter part. We purchased breakfast, but honestly it wasnt worth it. We ended giving the food to the strays. They never call me for breakfast during my stays till the last day at 6.30am. Calling and waking me up for breakfast. I really have no idea whats their intention is. The location is far from anywhere. Even the rate was not bad 700k a night, I dont think its not worth it remembering how they never changed the linen.

It’s a 10 min walk down to the main street but plenty do to close by (restaurants, massages etc). Highly recommend!

• 889grahamm (8/5): An Oasis in Seminyak - We recently spent 4 nights at Uma Karan. It is a lovely and tranquil property. The rooms are spacious and well appointed. The centrepiece of the property is the pool which bisects the two rows of rooms and is flanked by lush vegetation. The sound of water is a pleasant and relaxing background sound. Although it is away from the main part of Seminyak it is only AUD 2.00 taxi ride from the beach and there are plenty of options for eating within walking distance. I would happily return.
• lea_mho (10/5): Perfect stay - My sister and I stayed at Uma Karan for 6 nights and really enjoyed it! Great central location without traffic noise or else, friendly and smiling staff, good selection of breakfast (eggs any style, Nasi goreng, pancakes, fruit, cereal, juice...), nice, clean and well equipped room with a soft bed and a beautiful pool. We liked that it was a very intimate hotel and we often had the pool for ourselves. Only little minus was that there was shadow on the sun beds some parts of the day, but it was nothing that really bothered us. We will definitely recommend and would consider going back next time we visit Seminyak!

• dzulyen (10/5): Beautiful little oasis - The is truly a little oasis. Only 10 rooms, all overlooking the lush, tree covered pool. Rooms are large, great air conditioning, comfortable beds, big bathroom. This is NOT one of your big resorts. I love that it is just that bit out of the main hustle and bustle yet only a 5 minute walk to Eat Street and all the action (if that’s what you’re after). Super friendly staff. In my 5 days here I only ever saw 2 other people in the pool so it felt like my own, private villa. I had breakfast here once. It was ok, nothing exceptional but exactly what was described. I’m more of a local warung diner so had my nasi goreng breakfasts next door. Will absolutely be back. If I had to be really picky there are only 4 loungers to catch some sun but, in reality, I only ever saw 1 other person using them so really not an issue. And if you’re after a poolside bar or bar service, you’ll have to BYO from the local shop (3 minutes down the road). And that took a lot of thinking to find those 2 ‘issues’!

• Rozalyn9 (10/5): My Paradise for 2 months..... - I planned to stay for a week and ended up staying for TWO MONTHS! I am their longest ever staying guest, if there's a guest that knows this hotel....look no further. Uma Karan became my family...every single one of the staff was so welcoming, warm and genuine. I'd have late night chats with all of them. The room was perfect, clean, modern, comfortable with character. Everything I need is here. Mini mart 1 min outside, delicious restaurant called Manaka..... (something like that) so cheap and delicous! Short walk into Seminyak, I used to walk to La Favela for nights out and you can walk to the beach in about 30 mins....but I'd advise a taxi in this heat! Breakfast was good! Bali breakfasts I've had haven't ever been good, but I had this every day for 2 months haha, it was great. The pool is beautiful, the wifi was good, I ran my business from here and loved every moment. Its soooo quiet here, you won't hear a thing. and yet you're right by the action. Go!!! Its a great stay in Seminyak. Plus you have some cute dogs next door too.

• 131martinal (10/5): Quick escape to Bali - Highly recommended! Very nice and quiet place with walking distance to the Main Street of Seminyak. Rooms and showers are big and clean. Delicious breakfast included. Some local Cafes are around. You can easily find good dinner or lunch. Supermarket is 5 min from the hotel.

Staff were ok but were a bit distant, to be honest i prefer hotel staff to be like this so not a problem. Overall, i think the location is the biggest drawback. Its not in the nicest side street and this poses a bit of concern when walking back at night. Its about a dollar fifty taxi to get to seminyak square so not too bad. Overall, would recommend if you want to be a bit away from it. Security was great and felt very safe.

Not finished to the best quality but just astetic no skirting board on one wall and and the ceiling needs a little bit more work. We had a rather big spider on our room our first night however the staff came and helped us catch it. Would reccomend again was quite and loved the pool

The hotel is in a cosy setting with only a few rooms so staff is exceptionally attentive to all needs. The pool is beautiful and the rooms are quite spacious with a TV and a bathroom that has impressive natural lighting in the morning. Pool is spacious and very beautiful (as shown in images). Staff can book a taxi (metered) in record time and the location was easy for people to walk to central. Recommended for travellers to catch a taxi or rent a bike to avoid the busy intersections and traffic. Our little peeve was that the air-conditioning did not feel cool enough despite putting it on the lowest setting, it made it a struggle to sleep at night against the humidity. Kitchen services cut off at 8pm which I thought was quite early. So for any of those who were looking for a midnight to morning snack you might not get that. Other than that, those are very little issues. It is still a beautiful accommodation and highly recommended.

• Pradeep (8/5): Nice hotel, but a bit far from the beach. - Very good stay. Breakfast was excellent. Pool was clean.
• Michael (8/5): Short break - My wife and I just spent a 6 day stay at Uma Karan, having booked from reading the TripAdvisor reviews. Uma Karan is just as it looks in the photos - the pool is gorgeous, fringed with palms and frangipani trees with each villa room opening onto the pool. Rooms are spacious and the bathroom ensuites are light and airy. Staff are welcoming and attentive, examples of which are never having to ask for pool towels - they just appear. The only drawbacks we felt were cleaning - need to improve attention to detail in bathrooms/toilet; and towels - need upgrading as old and stained. Uma Karan is a little way out from the major eating and tourist spots but taxis are cheap and easy to access. One downside on checkout - when booked we paid $25 for "round trip" airport pick up but reception insisted this was one way, despite being shown my booking information. I caught a taxi back to the airport for $8. Silly move not to honour the booking details as this soured what had been a good experience. Michael and Trudi, Bunbury WA.
• bbee (10/5): Mini oasis away from noise - Loved staying here. Go next door to the warung to get the true Balinese experience. They will take you around seminyak for a cheaper price than taxi's. The beach is my favourite, body boarding in the never ending perfect waves then getting a massage from Ruti. She has been massaging for 40 years and is amazing for a tiny price. Just walk around the corner to sunset spot for dinner, chicken satay yum! P.s go and see the turtle conservation centre:-)
• Kay (10/5): Central to most things - Solo traveller, 2 nights stay, close to things, felt safe, the rooms quiet and really lovely all looking out onto garden/ pool area, would recommend their massage service and had a room service tasty dinner which was very nice ,
• Suzanne (8/5): Uma Karan - If I had known how great this little hotel was I would have arranged to stay longer, great introduction to a visit to Bali but maybe a little off the beaten track if you don't know Bali well. This is however made up for by the loveliness of the staff and their readiness to help in any matter. I would most certainly stay here again. The room was very comfortable, the air conditioning good and the pool is adequate although not a lot of room for more than four people to sit and enjoy, but that wasn't a problem when I was there. The hotel is a bit of a walk to the main road and then even more of a walk into Seminyak but the staff at the hotel will help you find transport easily. A great Indonesian breakfast and really a lovely, quiet retreat.

• Verified traveler (8/5): Great find in quiet area. - This is a great little hotel. Seminyak is a very busy town with loud music and busy traffic. This hotel is a good 15 - 20 minutes walk from the centre, but in a super quiet location. (There are a few busy roads that have to be crossed and dark areas, so best to be aware of this). Otherwise you could take a taxi to the centre at a very reasonable price. Beds comfortable, room spotless, shower great. Lovely swimming pool. Breakfast good. Staff amazing. Loved this hotel.
