Guest Reviews
- Nadim (2/5): Terrible place to stay. - Do NOT stay here. The building and room was old and very worn. The furniture and bed in the room was worn out and dirty. The room was TINY with nowhere to put a suitcase. The shower and toilet was actually inside the room, with no extraction fan or barrier to remove toilet smells from the room. Our room was facing the street and there is a Nightclub directly opposite the hotel, which pumped loud music until around 2am on Saturday night. The room was not at all soundproof.
- Susan (8/5): - Great staff.
Clean room.
Good breakfast for a day of sightseeing.
Five blocks easy walk to Seine River.
Plenty of places within walking distance: Notre Dame, Louvre, Tuileries Garden, Luxembourg Castle and Garden, boat docks for Seine cruises, patisseries galore. Only problem was low setting for hot water.
- Kylie (10/5): - Nice little hotel, very old style with the decor, which was lovely. Great staff- very friendly and helpful.
- Cynthia (8/5): - Very good bed, private bath.
- melissa (10/5): - Julienne and christian were so helpful and kind. Our every need was taken care of. They directed us to dinning options, called our taxis when we needed one. My mother is in a wheelchair, they held the door everytime we entered or exited, helped with our bags...overall they helped make pur trip a truly magical experience! The room could have been cleaner, but i think thats just me lol. The building was old but very well preserved and looked nice. It felt very safe in the area.
- Racheal (8/5): Great price and get what you pay for - The Tonic Hotel was in the heart of St Gemain de pres. We had a delayed check in as there was working being carried out at the time of check in, but there is a great little ice cream parlour on the corner and we sat for 30 mins eating ice cream! The hotel itself was clean and bit dated but rustic in appearance. The room was interesting with the shower and toilet right in the room very boutique looking, would be fine for a couple but not brilliant for me and my teenage daughter, but we made it work. I'm sure room service was available but there was no menu to hand and we ate out for a 3 day stay. Overall you get what you pay for and for the price this was fine for what we needed.
- Aftab (8/5): - Good location near many shopping.
- Andrew (10/5): - Our room was so unique it felt as though we went back in time.Breakfast extremely edible.
- David (4/5): Amazing location no longer makes up for flaws - We have stayed here before over the years and staff are always friendly and approachable. However, the cleanliness of the room was poor and it didn't help that the room was located right next to reception- you could hear everything outside the room and in the street. This is really not the place to have a bedroom. Bathroom was unclean and sink drained very slowly due to dirt/clogs. The shower was excellent- powerful and hot, the rest of the bathroom and bedroom was really under par. The price is cheap for the area but unfortunately it is now reflected in the quality. Would hesitate before booking again and would definitely not stay in the bedroom next to reception.
- Angel (8/5): - My daughter and I stayed at the Tonic Hotel during our visit and found it to be a good, budget-friendly option. While the hotel is older and could definitely use some updates—especially the decor and room layout—it was clean and comfortable for a short stay.
The room had a quirky setup, with the bain douche (shower/bath combo) oddly placed at the end of the bed, which might not suit everyone, but everything worked fine and was well-maintained.
We felt very safe, thanks in large part to the wonderful 24-hour door person, who was friendly, attentive, and made us feel well looked after. As two women traveling together, that added peace of mind made a big difference.
The location is excellent—just a short, easy walk to the metro. There are tons of restaurants and cafés nearby, including a Starbucks for North Americans wanting a familiar option. There’s also lots of shopping just down the block, although we didn’t explore it this time.
All in all, this hotel was a solid choice for a mother-daughter trip focused on convenience, safety, and walkability rather than luxury.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Tonic was clean and comfortable. As advertised. Staff was friendly. There was an elevator but it went to the half floors, so I still had to climb up or down a flight of spiral stairs to get to my floor. Other than arrival and departure with 2 giant suitcases, this wasn't that big of an inconvenience. However for someone that might be counting on the elevator for help with a disability, it needs to be noted.
Hotel conveniently located!
- Despina (4/5): - The “shower” was a bathtub in the bedroom with a hand held shower with a short hose that wasn’t long enough to reach up to wet your hair. There was an approximately 1 m diameter ring from the ceiling with a shower curtain to contain the water spray. At least the toilet was in a separate room! And this was a “Superior Room.”
- Xavier (4/5): Disappointed - Room very small
No space to open the luggage
Light in the bathroom very poor
Bathroom not very clean
No WiFi outlet
Not coming back here
- John (10/5): - Lovely hotel - small rooms but very quiet. loved it
- Jesus (6/5): - The location is excellent, secure and everything walkable, metro line 2min from the hotel. Staff was very kind, but the installations were really poor, the mattress was outdated, the water from the shower came into the room and the air conditioning did not work very well. The room was not cleaned and towels were not changed on any day.
- Efstathios (2/5): - If you wish to ruin your Paris vacation, stay in this hotel. The only good think about the property is its location (close to most monuments). Drawbacks:
1. Dirty, stained carpets everywhere.
2. Sink at the other side of bathroom (to wash hands after visiting bathroom one has to navigate around the bed - not an easy task).
3. The "shower" is a large basin in the corner with a curtain that drops from the ceiling - in full view of the entire room.
4. Fire trap - in case of fire there is no way to get out of rooms in floors 2,3 and 4.
5. Unfriendly and unhelpful (almost hostile) staff.
6. The elevator stops only in mid level of all floors. To go to floor 4, you press the number 3/4 and it stops in the middle of 3 and 4, from where you have to climb up or down in a tiny and unsafe staircase.
Expedia should drop this property, it is only a dump. For the money we paid, we could have stayed in a good 4-star hotel nearby...
- Hannah (6/5): - This is a nice and superbly located hotel. If you just need a base to spend as little time as possible in then this is a good option. However, it was extremely noisy at night and the room was very dark and very small - but many hotels are like that in Paris so I understood that. The staff were not very friendly and although the room was clean, there was about one sheet of toilet roll with no additional rolls. There was no water offered, and no toiletries other than shampoo. I'd recommend for the location and I am fully aware you can do a LOT worse in Paris.
- Griffin (8/5): Great option in a great area - We were really happy with our stay here! The hotel really fits right into the historic setting. We found that really charming, but a pickier guest might notice the way certain things are aged.
- Cheryl (6/5): - The location is stellar and the price is reasonable. The only downside is the substantial outside noise radiates up into the rooms. During the soccer night on May 7, the honking of the cars and loud cheering lasted beyond midnight.
The other downside is that the rooms are clean marginally. I would say a score of 5 of 10- there is a long way to go to make it super clean.
There is also a sewer smell emanating from the drains that is not particularly pleasant.
- Lisa (6/5): - This property is in an excellent location and around restaurants, cafes, bars, shopping and more. The staff were nice and the breakfast was convenient. The decor was cute. The only problem was our shower drain was slow so water keep seeping all over the bathroom floor. Overall the price was right and it was safe and convenient.
- Thibaut (10/5): - I liked the place. It retained it’s antique-like charm. People complaining about the smell, it’s just the wood that’s been around a long time but it’s not mold or anything unhealthy. I liked the smell. Like a cabin in the middle of the forest. It was an easy and great experience. Excellent location without a doubt. Friendly staff.
- Giselle (10/5): - Great area for the price. Safe location with walkable shops everywhere. I also liked the modern bathroom and shower. Walk in shower is very important in Europe. Clean hotel. Great deal
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great location - Great location comfortable bed
- Michael (8/5): Will be back - The location is fantastic. It’s a little worn but clean and comfortable. There is a bar across the street but the noise level was acceptable. You do need to be able to manage a flight of stairs. For Paris, it seems excellent value for the money.
- Georges (8/5): - This is a great hotel in a great location. I have been staying at the hotel for 4 years now. Used to be perfect. Unfortunately management is going cheap on the maintenance and I mean super cheap. Their repair person is making an awful job. Any decent homeowner would do a better job
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Junior suite for 4 people - the sofa bed filled the room. Couldn’t walk around/open the main door
- tina (8/5): Charming 6 eme - Great location - charming hotel. A little impractical but good if you love saint Germain neighborhood
- Susan (10/5): - Wonderful location. Reasonable price and air conditioning was perfect for summer Olympics.
- Olga (10/5): Amazing location in the heart of Saint-Germain-des - Everything was great except the bath tub located right in the room. I woulld suggest to have some barrier to keep water off the floor. The AC was good, the reception was amazing
- Kate (4/5): - The hotel needs a major update. Very rundown and generally dirty. It felt dusty and sticky. NOTE: The bathroom is NOT a separate area. There is no full door to the bathroom. It is open air with the living space, including the toilet. I felt very unsanitary staying here. There is an AC wall unit, which is nice. The area is great. Very walkable. Hotel just needs major updates. I also believe the staff went through our luggage and in our room even with the do not disturb sign was on the door, as we had closed our windows and they were open when we returned, and luggage had been moved. Some of my medicine was also missing. I do not recommend this hotel, but I like the location.
- Elva (6/5): - Buena ubicación
- Aprile (4/5): - The condition of the hotel appear far better online than in person. The bathroom is a simple clear panel between the bed and the shower and offers zero privacy. The is no door on the shower and it is impossible to keep the water out if the rest of the room. The shower mat is instantly so wet there will be no hope of it drying before you need to use the shower again.
The neighborhood is convenient, but directly across from a club that is noisy all night, thankful I brought ear plugs.
- Daniel (4/5): - Tired and unclean
- Kayla (10/5): - Great place to just have a place to sleep and shower while you’re out exploring.
- Jennifer (8/5): - Everything was good, only down side was the shower didn't have door so water went every where and lighting in bathroom not good for getting ready ( make up etc). Loved the double windows though
- Carlos (8/5): - It's very well located. Small but good enough size considering you are in Paris.
Metro station very near, lots of options for food and drinks.
Very recommended
- Glenn (10/5): - Fantastic location abd helpful staff.
One potential drawback: At least some of the rooms do not have regular showers - in stead only a bathtub (at one end of the bedroom with a hand-held spraying attachment - no proper shower head, nor bracket to hold the spraying device. One cannot, for instance, shampoo with both hands while water is spraying on hair.
- Francisco Javier (10/5): - Very Cozy in a great and safe are with many dining and to do options.
- Becky (8/5): - We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We were on the top floor but could still hear the noise from the street. Overall it was good, a few small improvements could be made in terms of upkeep. The service was good and we were able to leave our luggage after checkout.
- Sara (8/5): - Difficult to communicate with staff. Very limited English. The TV had only French channels. Not one English Channel
- CLIFTON (4/5): - The property needs some serious TLC. It’s a sham. It’s a run in quite an amazing laissez fair approach, pity. The building has potential. Some serious maintenance is required, sooner rather than later. It’s 1 level away from filthy when it comes to cleanliness .
- Nicole (10/5): - Great area. Breakfast options were good but you can also go to any local restaurant within a few min. 5 min from metro
- Joanne (6/5): Great location but grubby - Booked family room and it was good size if unusual layout! Initial view looked good and we could see Eiffel tower from the window! Bathroom was not clean, bath didn't drain properly ( even from 4th floor) shower broken off wall and black mould everywhere. It's an old building but there was no ventilation and they wouldn't put air con on so I guess it gets very damp. As a result there was a 'smell' all the time.
Great location but grubby
- Michael (10/5): - Good value for money. Nice location. Front desk staff was very nice (lent me iPhone charger) and was very friendly.
- Georges (10/5): - Really like this small hotel. Perfectly located.
- Lana (10/5): - The junior suite was very nice. It was big with a very comfortable bed and pretty comfortable pull out couch. We had a view of the Eiffel Tower and the surrounding area was beautiful. The hotel is old and like many old buildings has lots of charm but needs some minor repairs.
- susan (6/5): Good location, cosy but noisy next to reception - We were given a room right next to the reception unfortunately, so you hear everything at reception including a phone in the night and someone chatting on & off for an hour at 3 in the morning. Not a good night's sleep!
Rooms bathroom could do with some attention but was large. Liked the decor with exposed walls & ceiling beams. Perhaps we were unlucky having this room so don't recommend room 1. Great location in Latin quater.
- Caroline (8/5): - I enjoyed staying at the property. It isn't top end of luxury, but it is priced accordingly to reflect that. The breakfast offering was really good and high quality, with freshly squeezed orange juice or omelette cooked to order alongside super fresh croissants and other continental items. The property was quaint and the bed was very comfortable. I think this small hotel offered value for money and the room was nicely decorated and had everything that wee needed.
- Hannah (6/5): - Cute little boutique hotel surrounded by tons of shopping, dining, and sites. You pay for the location not for the luxury of the actual room.
- Georges (10/5): - Friendly staff, clean hotel, perfectly located.
- Carmella (2/5): - Great location but very disappointed in cleanliness of hotel. Would not recommend
- Sara (6/5): - Small but quaint, two bars right in front so lots of street noise. Hydabed was pretty uncomfortable.
- Leanne (10/5): Wonderful hotel in the heart of St Germain! - This is a small, intimate hotel that is perfect for couples. I would not recommend it for families. We loved the staff and they were wonderfully friendly and accommodating. The breakfast is good and the orange juice is fresh and great! We plan to stay here again!
- Anna (8/5): - Great location but zero services - no lobby.
- Jason (2/5): - The room had one sided glass (took pictures) in the built in shower/sink bathroom kit. It’s very dark, hardly reflects light, and there’s no gap in the reflection when you press your finger nail against it. After I shined a light into the glass and found a hole in the middle, I packed up and left. I called the police but they didn’t seem to care and said I should tell one of the employees, but I was so disgusted I didn’t want to go back in there.
- Lloyd (10/5): - This was a charming and clean hotel in an amazing area! Nice breakfast too!
- Lloyd (10/5): - Beautiful hotel in a perfect location! The breakfast was great.
- Morgan (2/5): - This place is the worst hotel ever. Don’t stay here. The doors don’t lock. I went iut for dinner and came back and all my cards were stolen, the front desk manager was sleeping behind the desk.
- Valerie (4/5): - Cons: Older hotel, room is very small. Shower head was broken and in general it didn’t seem the cleanest. We also only saw 1 staff member at a time. Hotel claims you can buy breakfast but no clue where that was as no one showed us around and it’s a small place in general.
Pros: amazing location, 3 mins walk to the metro and Starbucks , cute area, comfortable bed, AC, right next to fruit market/ convenience store.
- Code of (6/5): - Room decor was a bit shabby with loose fittings on plug sockets & lighting. Coffee machine didn't work. Water didn't drain properly from bath. Air con made a rattling noise every few minutes.
Walk in price was lower than online booking by about €140 (for 3 nights). The room didn't look like the images from the website (no exposed stone wall or wooden beams).
I knew I was paying for the central location, but for 3 nights at €245 a night I expect the room to be of a much higher standard than it was.
I liked the idea of a historical converted building, unfortunately it didn't have the charm I was expecting from the images.
- Michael (8/5): - Hotel was very nice , unfortunately with night club across the street open til 5am made rooms facing the street very noisey
- Javad (2/5): - Toilet door was not closing Properly, the noise from out side come inside, some one move stuff upstairs, Shawer is not in good space and it is good ever though the weather out side is warm.,
The two male reception was very rude,
The two ladies was very friendly and helpful.,
- Richard (8/5): - Nice hotel, slightly unusual layout of the rooms, but comfy bed and in a great area, could be a bit noisy outside at the weekend
- john (10/5): - Very nice room in excellent location, easy to reach Metro, bars and restaurants.
- Maria (6/5): - Tonic hotel was in the perfect location of Saint Germain. However the room (31) was very small. The shower had no door, there was no where to hang clothes other than a tiny, grubby wardrobe that could hold about 3 coat hangers at an angle. At the weekend, the bars in the area got very busy and if felt as though closing time was 4am ( not actually sure of the time, but it was early morning).
Staff, Christian and Chantal were very helpful. We asked for a hairdryer and iron, they were delivered in minutes. There is a cave type restaurant in the basement of the hotel. We didn't eat there as the choice of cafe's on the area was amazing!
Cafe de flore, Les deux magots and Atlas in the area (walking distance) were outstanding.
The hotel is small, quirky and typical of Old France, it is full of character though.
I would suggest installing a privacy screen for the shower and installing a pole for clothes.
- Stephen (10/5): - Great neighborhood, room in outstanding shape. I was very, very pleased!
- Sarah (2/5): - DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL complete rip off I changed 2 classic room booking to 2 x superior rooms at over 210 Eur per night to have a bath not by the bed according to photos on website & 1 of them still had bath in room. No other rooms available although receptionist offered us 2 others & then told my friend that she would have to move out of 1 as it wasn’t available for a 2 night stay after all. My room was absolutely filthy including filthy empty toilet brush holder, stained shower curtain & curtain in bathroom, TV cable hanging loose below TV out of a hole in the wall which it didn’t fit, dirty corners in floor, missing handle on chest of drawers, paint on toilet door completely scuffed, stained wall above sink & coffee cups were stuck when I lifted them off coffee tray. Friend’s coffee machine didn’t work - I didn’t test mine as I didn’t want to drink out of filthy coffee cups. Complete rip off.
- Amber (8/5): - Quaint hotel in the Latin Quarter. Across the street from a a night club, so it was quite noisy Thursday through Saturday. Close to a wonderful area of town, very walkable and convenient. Room was small but cute.
- NAOMI (2/5): - the property was dirty. no bathroom just a tub in the room. creaky and broken stairs. staff lied about the condition of the rooms. worse experience 😪
- Yvonne (10/5): Great rooms - Fantastic location, great rooms. We had a lovely stay here.
- Jennie (8/5): - Great location, easy checkin, staff was able to hold bags securely (we arrived at 10AM and checkin is at 2)
Breakfast available downstairs at property but we did not try it. Very friendly staff. Decent room for the price, coffee machine en suite. Comfortable bed and nice TV
- Jessica (8/5): - PERFECT location for my boyfriend and I. Close to tourist attractions, but also far enough away that it’s not insanely crowded. Great young area for bars. The lady working the front desk Tuesday Oct 25 late at night was AMAZINGLY helpful when we ran into some trouble, really wish I got her name !! She deserves a bonus but sadly didn’t see her again before we checked out to thank her again. The property could use some renovations / could be cleaner, but the location and service made it all worth it.
- Justin (4/5): - The room was very tiny, but beautiful in design. The bed was comfortable and did the trick for sleep. The hotel doesn't have AC though. The location was amazing within minutes of the Metro and little shops. The pub across the street was fantastic to wind down at after a long day and the convenience store next to the hotel was great.
The wifi didn't work in the room at all on 3 separate devices, 2 cell phones and a laptop. Despite bringing it to the attention of the front staff, the staff didn't try to fix it despite saying they would. We had to ask for towels and toilet paper 3xs on one occasion, to which it took the next staff on shift to get for us. The safes in the room were locked and they didn't unlock them for our use.
- David (10/5): - The hotel is un a great location.
- Julie (10/5): - Well appointed hotel in a very old building
Sensitive updating of facilities while keeping the ambiance of the old
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Perfect location. Easy access to metro, walking distance to many of the key inter city locations, great streets to stroll/eat. Close to metro. No hotel amenities - but good breakfast and comfy beds. Will stay here again.
- Larissa (8/5): - This was a very sweet hotel for us and we enjoyed it very much!
- Susan (8/5): Friendly and comfortable - We were a little disappointed to see there was a step to get in considering i asked multiple times if the property was wheelchair accessible, however the staff helped us every day to get in and out and made us feel very comfortable.
Bridget went above and beyond to make sure all of our needs were met, we were comfortable, and even made sure we were served breakfast everyday.
The room was small, but it worked. The floors were a little dirty and the leg on the bed was broken but overall, for a 17th centry building, the room was good.
- Jeffrey (8/5): - Great location downtown paris. Can walk to everything, restaraunts, bars and tourist attractioins.
- Dieter (10/5): - The personal was very friendly and competent - I enjoied very much the atmosphere and the environment
- Natalie (10/5): - The location is great and the staff super helpful ( especially Alejandro)
You can walk to any cafe. Rooms are small but its Paris and that is expected.
Definitely will stay again
- Sasha (10/5): - Great stylish hotel with amazing staff. Beds are very comfortable and breakfast is delicious.
- Scott (10/5): - This property made me feel like I was in a boarding house back in the 1800s. The rooms are small but cozy, with all the needed amenities. The bathtub in the room itself is a bit different but fun. The location cannot be beat. For short stays this is the place. We will return again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): great location, but needs a deep cleaning - the hotel got a great location, in 2 minutes u are at odeon metro station. many restaurants and shops in walk distance, nice quiet neigborhood.
the room was really dirty or should i say dusty. there were mm thick dust all over, even at the wallpaper was dust already.
the bed are 2 single beds, which are very layn through. staff is friendly and helpfull, but the rooms really need a deep clean, with taking of all the dust from the walls, lamps and everywhere else. also the floor should be cleaned with water. u didnt seen it was dirty, but if the walls have dust hanging on them, i dont think the floor is very clean either.
anyway, we enjoyed our stay. the room isnt really big, we had the room with the bathtub, but for a few nights its ok.
i think we would stay there again, i didnt regret my stay, but it could be cleaner, then it would be way better
- Alexandra (8/5): - This is a small, quirky hotel in a great area of Paris. The price is good so don’t expect the Ritz. We had a small double room with a large shower room. It was just right for the weekend; would have been tricky with large luggage. The bed was very comfortable, with great pillows and linens.
The AC worked very well. That’s a big plus!!
On the less exciting side: we were on the ground floor. The window was well insulated and we were not bothered by any noise from the street but we could hear every word of the phone conversations from the front desk.
On the worrying side: the front desk clerks Saturday daytime and night were great. On Sunday, however, when we went out for breakfast, we found the Sunday day clerk kept the front door locked from the inside while he was elsewhere in the hotel. We couldn’t exit the hotel. We explained how dangerous that is in the event of fire or any other emergency. He disagreed, explaining it was for security. The same thing happened when we checked out so it’s clearly his practice. This is not acceptable. There should always be a way to exit, especially as the street windows/door have wrought iron bars. The door lock needs to be changed immediately. Until this incident, we intended to come back because the location was perfect for us. I would not do so now unless I knew this had been rectified.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Completely functional room conveniently located two blocks from Odeon Metro Station (Line 4). Room was clean and comfortable and a nice size. Shower/tub combination worked well. Also close to many outdoor and indoor restaurants. Staff was present and effective. No complaints!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Small room, but clean. Shower can benefit from a curtain or a door, as the floor becomes wet.
- Laura (10/5): Little jewel in one of the best neighborhoods - Wonderful location, the staff could not be nicer and more accommodating. Rooms are small for American standards but that’s how it is in Paris! Walking distance to historic restaurants like ales Deux Maggots, Le Procoppe,,and Café de Flore where the Existentialists wrote and met, the church of Saint Germain and the left bank of La Seine. One block from the subway that takes you to Tour Eiffel, Versailles, Arc du Triumphs
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great little place - Right in the heart of the neighborhood. I had a room on the street and thought I would have to deal with a lot of bar/street noise. It really shut down at 1 AM and that was fine.
- Luis (6/5): OK - The rooms need maintenance. The bathroom door didn’t work, there were a few broken lamps and the drapes didn’t close.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Things are not working in the room, lights were not working, a/c and heater are not controlled from room. If reception sets heat, all rooms will have heat, if they set a/c then all rooms will have cool. Such a stupid system. We have to sleep in disgustingly hot room all 3 nights!
- Charles D (8/5): Good Choice In St Germain Area of Paris - We stayed at the Tonic Hôtel Saint Germain for our wedding anniversary weekend. Our room was small but very clean, the facilities overall were spotless, and the staff very friendly. The hotel is convenient to sites in Saint Germain, many nearby restaurants, and has easy access to the Metro.
Our room was streetside, and there is unfortunately a bar across the street. Our second night there, it got quite rowdy and noisy. Next time we will request an inside room away from the street. Also, the way the shower is arranged, it was nearly impossible to keep water entirely in the shower without thoroughly soaking the floor mat.
Overall, we had a good stay and we'd stay again next time in Paris (though in an inside room).
- Verified traveler (6/5): Not as good as it was!! - Nice front of house, but in my room the TV was not connected, no radio, no info on how to contact service desk. Rooms are very interesting but very small for a 3 star hotel. Stair carpet is very dirty and threadbare. This hotel used to be 2 star and I think it should still be! Staff are very nice, but hotel was not in as good a state as last time I visited. Disappointing
- Verified traveler (4/5): Beautiful historic hotel, but not good function - When we checked into our room, tools, screws, and dust were left in room. The guy at front desk during day was very helpful. When we went to bed, we noticed that the sheets and mattress were wet. The gentleman at the front desk was hard to communicate with. He finally came to room. We showed him the issue and gave him the wet linens. He finally came back with some linens, but they didn't fit the bed. It took him 3 trips and over an hour to finally bring us some linens that we could make work. My husband and I had to flip over mattress and put the linens on the bed.
The room had a broken light by the bed and the exhaust fan in the toilet room did not work. We did not like the open glass bathroom. The water from the shower splattered out into the bedroom area. Then the shower head came off, and water poured out all over the floor. The toilet was not at all private. Due to the non functioning exhaust fan, the room got a bit smelly.
The windows were not at all insulated against sound. We slept with the windows closed, but it sounded as if our bed was in the middle of the street. It was so noisy that we could not sleep. We checked out after the first night and had to find another hotel.
It was very disappointing, because we loved the look of the hotel. It was very beautiful with the timbered ceilings and stone walls. However, it just didn't function for us.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very good location! Good staff. Small room to open our luggages.
- Anthony (4/5): - Great location and nice staff but the bed was very uncomfortable. Making a double out of two single mattresses never works. Shower arrangement in bath dysfunctional. Looked lovely but not practical. That said area was fantastic and perhaps if we’d had a different room rating would be higher.
- Aneta (10/5): Lovely romantic hotel - Lovely small hotel , great idea for design with wooden ceilings and old paintings on the walls . Service very good, always nice people at reception. Definitely recommended for romantic trip. May not be suitable for people who préfèr more light in rooms , it is quite dark which for me makes lovely mood but because some room have no window on the street some guests may not like it.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Property had period features with modern facilities. Bed was comfortable and staff very helpful and polite. Room was small (as expected in the city) but suitable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Everything was fine and as you would expect, location was perfect and staff were friendly and helpful at all times
- Jennifer (8/5): Great location, friendly staff. - Great location. Ver friendly and helpful staff. Rooms are tight, particularly for family if 4, but a great option for budget. Air conditioning was clutch during recent heat wave. My daughter didn't like the smell in the common areas, but it didn't bother the rest of the family. Breakfast was convenient, but mothing spectactular.
