In such a remote location, the staff should have been courteous enough to cut the pineapple for us. Not only did their rules not allow them to do it but they did not even give us a sharp knife to cut it ourselves

- Madusanka (10/5): - We had a very good stay at Cinnamon Bay Beruwala. The beachfront location was beautiful and peaceful, and the rooms were clean, spacious, and comfortable. The overall atmosphere was very relaxing and enjoyable. The service was excellent, and we truly appreciate the efforts of the housekeeping team for maintaining everything so well, and the F&B team for the delicious food and great service. Thank you to everyone for making our stay memorable.
- Malith (8/5): Overall, a good stay with room for improvement. - This was our 5th stay at the hotel with family, and once again, it was a great experience. We really appreciated the upgrade to a Deluxe Room. The location is convenient and easily accessible. The staff were very friendly and attentive throughout our stay. The calm, wave-free sea right in front of the hotel was a highlight, and the breakfast buffet had a good variety of options. However, there are a few areas for improvement. Some parts of the property would benefit from renovation, and the Deluxe Residence area could be maintained better as it was quite dusty. Also, the first night dinner buffet (half board) did not meet our expectations in terms of variety.

- Vishva (9/5): fabulous - Our stay at the hotel was simply fantastic. Everything was beautifully decorated, and the rooms were excellent. They were spacious and practical, with a balcony, and the bathroom and toilet were in separate rooms—both very clean. The pool was also very pleasant; you could relax, sunbathe, or order food from the ice bar. The food was fresh and delicious, with a wide selection of snacks and dishes. The lifeguard at the pool (I think his name was Sampath) was very helpful The staff were also very impressive—everyone was incredibly friendly, open, and helpful. They often checked in to see if we needed anything. And if you walk just a short distance, you’re right at the beach. Overall, it was an incredibly beautiful and magical experience, and I can highly recommend it. The Indian tour group at the pool behaved inappropriately and showed no consideration for the other guests.

- Alice Pui Fong (10/5): I love the angels! - One thing I can truly say is that the staff here are angels! We were lucky enough to get a table right on the dance floor during the Christmas gala dinner, and watching the children dance with pure joy was unforgettable. Then, Sadnnika, Tharuka, and Ikesh from the noodle restaurant went above and beyond — even after closing time — and their cooking was absolutely excellent. The food, the service, and the staff were all amazing. We stayed with our friend’s family and shared a wonderful Christmas dinner together, followed by swimming on Christmas Day. It was a holiday filled with kindness, laughter, and memories we’ll cherish forever.

- Sachithrajith (6/5): The dining experience truly stands out, some of the other amenities fall short of expectations given - Food is very good with lots of variety and restaurant staff always provide great service Even though booking in advance we had issues with our rooms and took hours to resolve the issues. Seems to be some staff members are new and struggle. Rooms are dated and some of the other amenities fall short of expectations given the price.
- Raed (1/5): Dirty, noisy, unpleasant - Nothing. It was lacking in every aspect, including cleanliness. We did not use any of the facilities, we stayed for one night to simply relax from our long trip and we couldn’t even get that. We checked in late at night, there were festivities going on outside near the pool, loud music and drums as well as extremely loud fireworks. It was well past midnight by the time they stopped. In addition to the disturbance, the room was unclean, there was sand all over the floor and dust collected behind the bed’s headboard (it’s a criss cross design so dust is literally over your pillows. Not to mention the cherry on top, the insects, mosquitoes everywhere inside the room and a centipede in the shower (image attached). Oh and also the bathrooms have mesh(?) walls not sure how to describe it but we only realized in the morning that it was filled with holes large enough for any Peeping Tom, especially since we were on the ground floor facing the pool.

Der areception Manager will nicht mit uns reden. Plötzlich ist dann doch nicht mehr ausgebucht. Eine schlechte Erfahrung nach 5000 Flugmeilen, wenn man so empfangen wird.

- Igor (10/5): Восхитительно! - Большая территория отеля с озеленением, есть вараны, пальмовые белки, попугаи. 2 бассейна, лежаков и зонтиков хватало всем. Океан защищен рифом, волн нет, купаться можно даже детям. Территория отеля огорожена и охраняется.Завтраки вкусные и разнообразные. Номера просторные и чистые. Уборка на отлично. Отличный ресторан итальянской кухни. Все понравилось.
- GUNJAN (5/5): It could have been better......did not live up to the cinnamon name! - The proximity to the beach was great! The pool was good Most of the staff did not understand English or hindi.....making communication very difficult. The food, especially buffet was not tasty. They had the identical buffet every day & the taste was not good. . The Chinese restaurant was also very average. Maintenance of rooms was not good.

- Misha (8/5): - У отеля достаточно большая и зеленая территория, где можно видеть белок, варана, птиц, крабов. Океан в 100 метрах с искусственным ограждением от волн, где можно спокойно плавать. Приливы-отливы есть, но не критичные, не более 1 м. Рыбок мало, но есть. На ограждении в отлив можно увидеть множество ежей. Достаточно большой бассейн рядом с рестораном. Питание достаточно разнообразное, есть местные блюда, много фруктов, десертов. Но острота на любителя. По вечерам играет кавер- группа, очень прилично. Номера большие, имеют выходы на две стороны. Есть сейф, фен, чайник с принадлежностями, холодильник. На террасе лежак, стол, кресла, сушка для одежды небольшая. Убирают хорошо, пополняют воду. Есть фумигатор от насекомых. Есть спа, детская зона. Персонал старается. В целом впечатление остались хорошие. Пляж общественный, соответственно в выходные и праздничные дни очень много местных жителей. Ничем не отделяется, все общее. Думаю для 5 звезд могли бы в море натянуть ограждение. Шезлонги на пляже платные от 1000-1500 рупий. Немного надоедают продавцы и гиды. В ресторане на на всех острых блюдах есть значок перчика. В номерах есть кондиционер, но шумноват. Один из минусов номера это стеклянная деверь в туалет и отсутствие двери в санузел в целом. Не хватает приватности. Интерьер номера не очень понравился, лаконичный лофт + немного этнических мотивов. На ТВ нет ни одного русского канала, хотя множество русских в отеле, по ощущениям процентов 70. В спа не правильно посчитали цену массажа, было неприятно.

- Devang (3/5): It’s a 3/10 property. If you’re looking for comfort or luxury then this isn’t your pick. - It’s a big property with good food. The New Year Gala dinner was good. It’s an extremely dated property. It needs a complete overhaul. The rooms are bad, they have NO ocean view. Please don’t book and pay that extra cost for ocean view, cos it doesn’t exist. Absolute waste of money. We went here for NYE, and it wasn’t the best decision after a good stay at Galle! The rooms are so dated, the wall paint is completely off, the bathrooms have a really bad stench (like a urinal) And the shower has no pressure. The TV is small, the staff is confused and the beach of this property is really bad. More pebbles than sand. Won’t recommend this place unless you have no place else to go.
- Kerry (9/5): - The staff, its the best customer service I have ever received in a hotel. The food was amazing and they pulled out all the stops with the new years eve gala dinner, the best I've ever had. It was an expensive stay but happy to pay it for the service received. All staff remember you remembering how much coffee you drink in the morning to knowing where you like to sunbathe. The beach wasn't the best and parts of the hotel were showing signs of age. But having said that I would definitely recommend it to anyone for a few days rest after travelling the country.

- Chris (9/5): Excellent 5 days in a really nice resort, with friendly staff. - The location beach front was superb, The staff were attentive and pleased that we were there, following the Cyclone. The Buffet breakfast had a great range to suit all needs. Good size rooms and very quiet, having said that it was only half full due to the recent weather. The pool & Pool bar attendants were really great as was our room staff. Cannot fault the Hotel.

- kirthisri (4/5): The reviews on booking.com are far overrated and do not reflect the true condition of the hotel. - Not comparable in quality to other Cinnamon hotels Different dishes were available but taste, presentation and overall quality was disappointing. Staff however were quite receptive and tried to help how they could. Cleanliness is poor - tiles in room wall are dirty. I feel that not much effort invested in maintenance. There was a terrible sewer smell in the first rooms we got and we had to complain as we were not prepared to spend our time there with this horrible smell.

- Zaza Md Taat (7/5): Overall gd stay at an old hotel - Breakfast is diverse and is good overall. Hotel isn't bad- z that it shouldnt title itself as "upscale 5 star". It is at best a 3.8 star hotel or an old 4 star hotel. All of the staff are hardworking & courteous. I commend them for their Sri Lankan hospitality. Special thanks to Sulara & Nethmi for being kind and attentive staff. There is a clear error in Google's title of this hotel as an "upscale 5-star hotel". It is anything but. The first sight of this hotel informs me three things- it is dated, it is old & it doesnt bother to furnish itself in a more aesthetically pleasing fashion. First up, the entire hotel's wall paint reflects old & worn out, and the hotel's color palette- worn brown, grey & cement makes for a very impoverished look. This hotel clearly needs a fresh coat of paint. Rooms are appropriate sized & clean though we werent given a hand soap until the last day.However it feels darkish- i really have a big problem with entire color palette of the hotel. For its audacity to call itself "5 star", the colors are poorly matched to the beach scene. The last night of my stay the toilet flush didnt stop flushing- called the staff, thought they handled it but the problem persisted in the morning. The main pool area has a lot of crows. I feel a few crows are fine & possibly unavoidable but the constant presence of crows flying around becomes somewhat irritating. The kids club has a staff but it seems tat the staff acts more as a station master, rather than someone who will care for & interact w the kids. The kids' rm AC was spoilt & they should hv installed a fan as it was stuffy & hot. Breakfast is diverse and is good overall. But lunch & dinner wasnt- to give an example, its seafood pasta contained turmeric- giving a very odd flavor. Noodle soup was tasteless, like water w a pinch of salt. The Noodle Bey restaurant was equally bad- their spicy ramen noodles was much too little & lacked flavour, the breaded prawns only had 4 prawns!, & they took close to 30mins to deliver lunch to our table.
