- terryw521 (10/5): Very friendly hotel with excellent staff & breakfast - I stayed here from 24th December 2025 to 9th January 2026. I really enjoyed my stay in Hotel Lobelia & time in Addis Ababa meeting family and friends for all festivities. The hotel is home from home and all the staff are very friendly and helpful and customer focused. It is difficult to single one person out because the whole hotel team are exceptional but Shetaye at the bar and Rekik who works on reception was great in collaborating with me in teasing my family who visited me. The breakfasts and restaurant food are very good and I especially enjoyed their special tea and St George beer from the bar. I would return again and recommend to others being very good value for money and in a good location.

- julialW8884SC (10/5): Lobelia and your operator to have a nice trip in Ethiopia - My husband and I spent nearly 15 days in Ethiopia. Every time we cane back to Addis we stayed at Lobelia before taking the next flight around the country. The place is nice, the workers are very kind and help you with everithing you need. The restaurant inside prepares the best shiro I ate in the whole trip (in my opinion of course). But the best thisng that happened to us was to meeting Abay. He is a tourism operator that works with other people at every place in the northern Ethiopia. At first we were planning to do the trip on our own, but quickly understood that because of the political conditions of the country nowadays, it wasnt a good idea. We were afraid of giving money to an unknown person, but we trusted, and to do so is my best advice for anybody. Abay is kind, he takes care of every detail. He works hard to give you a safe trip and to make you happy. He arranged the best allocations and the best guides at Gondar, Bahir Dar, Lalibela, Semera, Axum... He waits for you at the airport every time you have to return to Addis, and makes a call every day just to check that everything is going good and you dont need something. We had great time and unforgettable experiences, feeling safe at any time, and that was mainly due to Abay. Thank you, friend.

- Layan (4/5): - We stayed for a week and were generally disappointed by the suite as the photos did not match reality, especially the bathroom. Shuttle service was almost 2 hours late for our airport pick up even though we were confirmed and on schedule at least a week prior. It only arrived after we'd made several phone calls to the hotel asking about the shuttle driver's whereabouts (they kept lying to us by saying it'll arrive in 5 mins). Once we made it to the hotel frustrated and exhausted, we complained to the lady at reception only to be met with an apology and a sad explanation that they had to prioritize picking up other passengers that were supposed to arrive the previous night - which was an insulting explanation for us. Furthermore, the floor our room was on was extremely noisy due to rowdy and disrespectfully loud guests - I was personally awoken between 2-5am for several nights in a row. Staff wasn't helpful in managing their guests. Manager was hard to reach as he hadn't shown up to the reception desk or the hotel during our entire stay. We've made several complaints to the reception staff and they ended up giving us false hope in a potential room change. As part of VIP Access perks, we did not enjoy all the benefits. Facilities are a joke - spa is just a steam room, no massage, unsanitary and tiny gym.

They have a Coustomized guest service for each guest which is important in a service industry.

Beds are good but don’t have protective covers on them or pillows so not sure how they keep them clean between visitors. Shower not very clean, no AC, and windows don’t have a net or screens to keep out bugs so mosquitoes come in sometimes when you leave them open. Floors of room were generally clean.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Went out of the way to get me a table fan and a hot water kettle . If you are a solo traveller or a group of friends , this is a convenient stopover . It has a restaurant and breakfast is included . Also has free pickup and drop off to the airport

- danielml85 (10/5): Family Run Boutique Hotel in Addis. - This is the perfect place to enjoy some comforts of home you might be missing in Africa, while experiencing what it can be like to dwell among real Ethiopians. Starting with the fan in my room, the first I had seen after 6 weeks in Africa, and ending with my late evening transfer to the airport, the folks at Hotel Lobelia just kept going out of their way to take good care of me. Meeting all sorts of needs from WiFi to good local wine, secure ATMs just outside the lobby, enjoyable meals, fast laundry service, and more. You might be tempted to lodge at a bigger or fancier place, but you really don’t need anything more than this. To be completely frank, Addis was kind of a mess when I was there. Everything is being rebuilt. Nothing is quiet. There is a lot of air pollution. Yet there are sanctuaries there, like this small hotel, that can help you overcome these challenges and be proud you have chosen well and are really contributing to the local economy, supporting jobs, families, and more. So you can just skip the chains and really live here. I would happily stay here again, and would not hesitate recommending it to anyone.

- dianaiF7215EZ (8/5): Good stay near the Bole airport - I stayed at Lobelia Hotel and found it to be a convenient choice, especially for those needing quick access to Bole International Airport. The free airport shuttle was a big plus, making arrival and departure hassle-free. The staff was welcoming and very helpful, always ready to assist with any requests. The rooms were clean and comfortable, though some areas of the hotel. I could leave my bags and it was very safe. Good breakfast. For the first time I tried avocado juice and it was super tasty. Fresh papaya, banana and all what you need. And when I arrived to Addis Ababa it was morning, I went to hotel it was about 10 am they check in me earlier and it was so nice gesture. Only one thing maybe in the evening you can hear a bit noises around the hotel area and it bit making uncomfortable to sleep and relax. But in addition hotel is in good location, tasty breakfast and helpful staff.

- mamacita1001 (8/5): Basic but comfy stay with airport shuttle bus service - Breakfast 0700-1000 (but I couldn't eat as I had to leave early) Room service available for 24 hours When I ordered around 0400a.m, they had only cold drinks as the coffee machine wasn’t on yet. Amenities A small soap Body shower and shampoo Hot water shower is stable. It is a big room, much bigger than my apartment actually. Bed room + living room = single room. There is only one slow elevator in the hotel. It seems like it stays on 3rd floor usually There is a mini kiosk next to the reception (Ground level) but very small and the selection of the products is very small. You might be in shock when you see “Is this really a kiosk ?” Well, some products are displayed only and it is better than nothing. - A big bath towel - Slippers - Safe - TV - Linen - Mini fridge - A complimentary bottle water It is not a new hotel but comfortable. Airport shuttle is provided. I requested it when I booked my room. Their response / confirmation is always speedy. If you wanna ride to get to the airport, you can let them know upon checking in but they might not remember. It happened to me. When I came down to the reception in the morning, I saw no one but a security man helped me to get someone. A driver showed up shortly. It is a nice area, you can walk around.

- Mohamed (2/5): - Our experience at this hotel fell significantly short of expectations, especially for a property with a four-star rating. To start, the shuttle service arrived 40 minutes late, which set a poor tone for the visit. Upon check-in, we found the bed in our room was broken. After notifying the staff, we were moved to a different room, where we then discovered that the shower was not working. This sequence of issues suggested a lack of attention to room maintenance. Additionally, the advertised breakfast was limited and sparse, offering only a few items such as cereal, pancakes, and some dry bread. It did not meet the standard one would expect for a full breakfast inclusion. Lastly, we did notice what appeared to be a cockroach in the dining area, which raised concerns about cleanliness. Overall, our stay was disappointing, and the experience was not reflective of the four-star rating. Prospective guests might wish to consider these aspects when making their travel plans.

It is close to the airport and has everything you need nearby. Shops, restaurants, and transportation are all within walking distance. My room was very large with good Wi-Fi. I would return again if I travel to Addis Ababa. The staff were very nice and helpful.

I'm so, so glad that I did! I'm even looking at options to be able to work in Addis, as I found the diversity, history, and energy of the city/nation to be so compelling. After just mentioning to the staff at Hotel Lobelia my itinerary and that I was keen on local recommendations for 20 hours in Addis, the hotel immediately booked a convenient and easy-to-find shuttle driver for me both directions as well as introduced me to Abay, a tour guide with whom I was fortunate to spend the evening and the following morning. Abay was amenable to my photographic and sight-seeing goals; in the evening we looked down at the sunset on the city and Abay and driver helped me to achieve some street photography while driving back to the hotel. Then, in the evening, he recommended a restaurant with traditional Ethiopian dancing-- in which the culture of Ethiopia's many peoples lives on despite the heartbreaking violence in recent years. Finally, in the morning, we saw the local Bole Medhanialem Church and some further street photo ops before a lightning breakfast at the hotel (everything very good!) prior to checkout...a whirlwind of a trip that left such an impression on me. The hotel room was modest but so pleasant and had everything I needed. Also I appreciated that the bar/coffee area downstairs is open 24/7 if you need a bottle of water or a cup of Joe at 5 a.m. as I did to keep the street photography flowing. Location couldn't be beat, either. A trivial drive (5 min? 10 min?) from the airport. Highly recommended to those on a layover like I was, or looking for a beautiful base on their way into or out of Ethiopia! Ameseginalehu, Hotel Lobelia and Abay! I'll be back!

The hotel is located close to the airport, and the shuttle bus service to and from the airport is reliable. Although the Hotel Lobelia is not a 5-star hotel and does not aim to be, it provides great value for money.

I would highly recomend it for family stay . Its at 10 mint drive from Adis ababa airport . For those who need a guide at their stay i would recommend Mr.Fishieha, his contact number is +251 91 189 4468, he is very professional and helped me alot during my stay at Adis .

The hotel is conveniently located, just a 10min drive from Bole international airport, & a free hotel airport shuttle is provided. This was perfect for me as I had to fly in & out of Addis Ababa a couple of times as I traveled around Ethiopia. Besides being close to the airport, the hotel is also very close to many other establishments, such as restaurants, cafes, shops, mall, etc. There is also an ATM just outside the hotel lobby so this was extra convenient. The 3 different rooms I stayed in during my 3 separate stays were all spacious, satisfactory, & clean. The bed was quite comfortable, & the wifi worked well in the room. There was also a separate seating area. A menu for the restaurant, as well as all the services offered by the hotel are also conveniently provided on the desk in the room. The bathrooms are quite small, however, and can use some upgrades, but overall it was fine, and the hot water shower was great. On one of my stays, I did end up getting upgraded to one of the suites, which was a very big room with a very big bathroom. They serve a buffet breakfast which typically included traditional Ethiopian dishes, and sometimes eggs & pancakes, in addition to toast, fruits, juices, coffee, & tea. Besides breakfast, food is available all day at their restaurant, as well as room service. The food at the restaurant is quite good so I did eat here a couple of times. Laundry service was also good – I dropped it off just before 8:30am & got it back just after lunch. They also have luggage storage, which I used to store my big backpack, while I traveled to other parts of Ethiopia with just a small backpack. The overall service is really good here; plus, all the staff, from the reception to the restaurant to the shuttle service, are really nice, friendly, & accommodating. There was always someone to answer any questions and provide any assistance needed, which I really appreciated. This hotel is definitely good value for a short stay in Addis Ababa with easy access to the airport.

Especially Abay was a great help, he works as a tourguide there and has a huge knowledge and helps with everything. I can definetly recommend him and I’m very thankful for his support! Had to go down to the lobby area for continuous signal. Showr has its individual tank soo… Hot!! If you like it that way. Power went off a few times but don’t panic, generator kicked on within 5 minute. You get what you pay for. When it comes to hospitality 5 STARS!

- Resort20914216658 (10/5): Very accomodating staff (Especially in very tough situations!), close to the airport, also great rooms for the price! - I stayed in Hotel Lobelia around late May as I had a day layover in Addis and what makes this hotel shine is the staff that are willing to help you in a city where everything is a huge culture shock for you if you're coming from another country. The room is very clean and I was able to rest off the jetlag for most of the day. Sadly I did not get to explore Addis to its full extent as I had gone through a really horrible experience involving credit card fraud at night that led me going through a whole painstaking process of mitigating it as it was something I have never dealt with and even in such a dire situation, the front desk were really helpful and helped me reach the police station by arranging a taxi for me to go there in order to inform them what happened (the taxi driver was also nice enough to translate for me since I didn't speak Amharic!). The hotel staff also helped translate for me when the police came to inquire about more further information and steps that could be taken to resolve my situation. I was pretty much up all night dealing with this situation as I had to catch my flight in the morning in order to report what happened to several contacts and was just dealing with the overall shock of the experience. It's unfortunate that I didn't exactly have a good first time experience in Ethiopia but the helpful staff as well as the great rest that I had while staying in the hotel makes me hopeful that my upcoming layover in Addis while returning home will be more memorable and good experience and I certainly look towards staying in Hotel Lobelia again in the future.

He is very knowledgeable and speaks excellent english as well. He planned and setup a 2 day one night trip to Lallibela and arranged the flights, hotel, transport, and the rpur guide was his brother Maureg. I beleived he saved us some money as well. He made our stay in Addis very enjoyable and we felt safe with Abay!!

- Bethelhem (6/5): - i like the cleanliness of the property what i don't like is the front desk staffs could have been more professional with respect to handling guest room keys and the way they keep these keys for a guest while guest is out of the hotel tiil they come back . in our case , they lost the key and we had to go ghrough argument and some attitude from the side of this front desk woman before she gave us a new room key. this could have been avoided with a beter attention given by staf memberes towards to guests .
