Guest Reviews
- Saskia van Bergen (8/5): - Excellent and very kind staff. Take note that the little lake and view is no longer as depicted on the photos as Mai Chau is changing quickly. The hotel is situated next to the main road and lots of buildings are being erected around it.
- lloyd (10/5): Lovely place to relax. - Very comfortable room, although close to main road no significant road noise. Lovely setting at edge of town with immediate access for cycle or walking in fields behind. Staff very helpful and food good value for hotel facilities. Ample breakfast included too. They offer excursions but we did not try due to lack of time. Hotel arranged transfer to airport which was perfect. Nothing

- Leanne (10/5): Excellent - Nice and central. Breakfast was good, and dinner in the dining room was great.

- GEORGE (10/5): Nice tranquil place to stay in Vietnam - I stayed in one of the domed tents next to the lake. Very comfortable. Food In restaurant excellent. Friendly staff. Unfortunately a road is being built behind the property which will generate noise.
- MacInnes (10/5): A peaceful stay that allowed us to be further immersed in the culture and nature of Vietnam. - The walkability of being on the main strip.
The amenities like the included sauna and steam room.
Delicious breakfast.
Great activity tips. We asked about hiking and they sent us to a very cool cave which was only 500m to the trailhead from the hotel. Ended up being a big highlight of our whole Vietnam trip. Nothing

- Peter (9/5): Great place & fantastic service levels - Great hotel close to beautiful to Mai Chau Valley. Great rooms and restaurant on-site. The service level is very high. Especially the hotel manager Ms. Nhi is fantastic. She and her team will do anything to make your stay the best it can be.

- Doan Trong (8/5): Bình thường - Bữa sáng cơ bản. Cũng đầy đủ tiện nghi cơ bản. Gần đường quá. Ít xe đạp miễn phí cho khách đi trải nghiệm
- Marco (10/5): - Gampling molto bello fronte lago
- Paul (10/5): Beautiful hotel in Mai Chau - The room is well organized and decorated, a nice letter is waiting for you as soon as you arrive.
Beautiful swimming pool and restaurant. Restaurant prices are high

- Lucas (8/5): great place - staff is the best :)
- Nicole (10/5): Mai Chau Lodge - We enjoyed a three night stay at Mai Chau lodge. As the lodge was quiet being mid-week, we were given an upgrade which was a nice surprise. Our room was spacious with a lovely balcony overlooking the pool and lake. The local food offered in the restaurant was lovely. As options in the town were a bit limited we ate there every night. Location was excellent for visits to the outlying villages- all in an easy walk or cycle. Best of all were Ninh and her staff. Always friendly and eager to help and offer advice.
- Yaara (10/5): The best hotel - you want to stay here!! - A Must-Read Until the End!
We came to stay in the glamping tents, and the place is simply magical. Everything was perfect, and it’s clear that every small detail was thoughtfully planned. In the evening, the atmosphere becomes even more charming with all the beautiful lights. The bathrooms and showers are nearby and very comfortable.
On our second night, one of us suffered from food poisoning. We contacted the staff at 3 AM, and from that moment, the hotel team never left our side. They immediately took us to a hospital just 300 meters away and stayed with us — three staff members — until they understood the situation.
Especially Nhy, who stayed with us until 8 AM to help us communicate with the doctors.
She also made sure we had food and medicine, paid for the treatment, upgraded us to a room with a private bathroom for better comfort, and ensured we had water and food available.
All the hotel staff, without exception, checked on us the next day, and we truly felt cared for and supported.
This is one of the places with the highest level of service we have ever encountered.
We highly recommend staying here!
Beyond the amazing service, the facilities are excellent, and we believe you will truly enjoy your stay.
A huge thank you to the entire hotel team, and especially to Nhy, who went above and beyond to make sure we felt well again.
- Melissa (10/5): Nice hotel, great location - Nice place right in town, but very quiet at night. Our room faced a cave in a mountainside right on the Main Street, the view was nice. The hot tub looks amazing, but is not working. The sauna and steam room are nice, there are also kayaks available. We opted not to go to the restaurant because it was very expensive. We went to Mai Chau No. 9 bistro which is amazing! Definitely go and tell the owner Missi and Tim sent you. He’s a gem. I’d stay here again, and hope for the hot tub to be back in action!
- Kelly (8/5): Very good -
- Holger (10/5): Exceptional - Very nice spot at the beginning of the main street in Mai Chau. Located at a small lake in the middle of rice fields and close to nearby villages such as Lac Village, Mai Chau Lodge is a great place to stay at in one of the most beautiful places on earth I was perfectly happy at Mai Chau Lodge
- Anna (8/5): Very good -
- Siimp (9/5): Superb - Friendly staff. Nice location next to a lake with a short walk away from the village.
- Achim (4/5): Old building on a loud street - Old building, pool was dirty, hotel is directly on a loud street. No view from pool to the nice rice fields.
- Alan (7/5): Very nice hotel in great location - Great breakfast with fresh fruit, eggs cooked to order, and other Western and Vietnamese options. The restaurant is lovely, with a nice view over the lake, and a good number of vegetarian choices (the ones we tried were delicious), although a little pricy by local standards. Pool is small but pleasant. From the hotel you can walk straight out into the rice fields, and it's an easy walk through the countryside to nearby villages where there are also other places to eat. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel provides guests with water in reusable glass bottles and you can also refill water bottles in the lobby. The mountain-view rooms face a main road and there is a lot of traffic noise.
On our last day there was incredibly loud music on a couple of occasions as the hotel was preparing to hold a festival the next day.
- Nigel (10/5): Great place to stay - Brilliant location, great place to stay. Staff are so helpful and kind. Nothing too much trouble. We were even invited to their end of year party, which we thoroughly enjoyed Room was very clean and bed super comfy. Facilities include steam room, sauna etc, kayaking, and a tour of their cave. Enjoyed every minute of our stay, and would most definitely come again. No complaints. The only comment I would make is perhaps there could be a wider selection of food options for vegetarians and vegans. Vegetarian options are on the menu, but protein base was either tofu or egg. Maybe to widen the choice a nut based or chickpea dish could be added. This isn't a complaint, merely a suggestion.
- Stefan (9/5): Superb - Clean pool, nice restaurant, good location and very friendly and helpful staff
- Ngoc (8/5): - Friendly staff .cleaniness
- Thanh (8/5): Very good -
- Kim (10/5): EXCELLENT! Food, venue, service, amenities. - We had a wonderful stay. We were upgraded to the master suit overlooking the pool. An absolutely huge beautiful luxurious room with a large balcony - thankyou! We also had the most delicious dinner there, not expensive at all. Service was 100% The picture showed a spa. It was cold, and we thought that the spa was heated. Disappointed to see it was cold.
Our room was AMAZING, but our friends room overlooked the road and was noisy.
- Roni (8/5): Very good -
- Cody (8/5): Excellent value and top notch service - Great lodge with beautiful amenities and features given the rural area it is in. The free bikes and cave tour are a must! Rooms and beds are fantastic and the pool is a great touch (although unheated) after a hot day of exploring nearby. Lots of activities to be arranged through their on-site tour office, as well! One thing you must know, though: this hotel is right on the main road through mai chau and most rooms do not offer expansive natural views... We wished we would have been more aware of this before we booked. The restaurant has fantastic food, too. Avoid the wine there, though, as we believe we paid way too much on a bottle of wine that was likely local vietnamese wine poured into a twist off chilean wine bottle... Almost $25 USD for their cheapest bottle and we think it was a scam. But hey, you don't go to Vietnam to drink wine, right? Enjoy the beauty of the region and stay in comfort here! Amazing service and overall an incredible value.
- Jack (10/5): - Quiet, calm, and good access to the villages. The cave and pool are great too.
- Jacqueline (8/5): A good base for a stay in Mai Chau - We stayed 3 nights at Mai Chau Lodge so we could visit the local villages. The lodge provides a very good base with comfortable rooms and friendly staff. The evening restaurant was not busy on the evening we dined there. Instead we walked to a nearby village and ate at a home stay. The lodge has bicycles to loan as well as a welcoming pool to flop into after a day’s cycling on the flat valley floor. The hotel also helped us with our transfer to Hanoi which worked out very smoothly.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Expensive - Nice staff
Nice view
Old building
Cheap amenities
The cave tour is good
If I go Maichau again I will not stay here.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Staff was gracious and efficient. Lodge lovely and welcoming in a tropically worn way.
My daughter and I had the junior suite on the second floor, large and comfortable with a huge balcony overlooking the pool. Nice bathroom with plenty of closet, space and a tub with shower attachment. All a bit "faded glory", for us, the tropics and added to the charm.
I had read a couple of reviews of the restaurant that were not so good, overpriced, slow, etc. this was not our experience. Restaurant cool and peaceful, staff totally with it, kitchen quick and food excellent. Relaxing, not rushed. I found the prices reasonable...high when compared with the Hanoi street food we had been eating for the previous eight days, but I felt totally in line with what we got. We ate every meal there. And our breakfast included was more than I expected.
Made alotmofmuse of the complimentary bicycles.
Love the hustle and bustle of Old Quarter Hanoi where we had been in a Homestay for eight nights. Then, so,happy with the peace and beauty of the Mai Chau Lodge and Valley.
- Peter (8/5): Good hotel in a beautiful location. - Friendly hotel in a very nice location. Perfect for exploring the countryside of Mai Chau with beautiful rice fields. The hotel offers free tours in the cave. That is a great experience (with lots of bats and a snake!). With the free bicycles you can tour around the Mai Chau area. Hotel facilities are basic but very nice. Staff is very friendly and helpfull.
- Kar Yi (10/5): Short but charming stay - We booked this lodge as it is close to the main road and the Mo Luong Cave is just opposite. We did not have enough time to explore Mo Luong Cave, but we did hike up the 1000 Step Cave. The entrance is just a 10 mins walk away. The local market is also nearby. Downside is that it is further from the inner paddy fields but I suppose that's not too bad.
Hotel staff were wonderful and very helpful. Due to a misunderstanding on our end from our tour guide, we sort of checked out earlier and the staff had already cleaned the room. However, they were kind enough to let us go back in and take a shower (after our hike). Thank you, Mai Chau Lodge! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Plus points: Complimentary rice wine and chocolates in the room!
- Alison (8/5): photos of the lodge is misleading. - Staff are very friendly and helpful, especially Phong (receptionist) I might have spelled her name wrong).
Downside is the breakfast. very disappointing, worse food that I have eaten in all the hotels that I stayed in. The food is tasteless and I got food poisoning.
Photos of the lodge is not exactly what it looks like. It backs onto a dirt road and the view is nothing like the photos shown in their photo gallery.
- Anne-Claire (10/5): Il top!
